My wife took our car here to have a brake issues diagnosed. There was a grinding sound coming from the rear passenger side. Midas calls me and says that the rear brakes need to be replaced (which they did) and that the front brakes needed to be replaced as well (which they did not)...Then, he's tells me that the front struts need to be replaced because they are leaking, and they can fix all this for the low price of $2400.00!!!!! I told him we would pick up the car.... After paying $40 for the bs inspection, he gives my wife a written document that is completely illegible. If you are paying for a written vehicle inspection, the information obtained should be of use and readable...Clearly, they scribbled on the form because what they were saying was not true and they didn't want to liable if/when the car and form are taken to the another shop....I might report this to the state. After a 500 mile drive, the last two blocks before my destination on a saturday night my brakes went completely out and also the car wouldn not start Sunday a.m. Finally got it started, drove without an appt, and had JUNIOR as my tech supervisor. Explained situation that Chevy had told me 2 weeks ago the problems were not covered under warranty. Junior got it right in and had inspections done on both issues. Within 1 hour, he came out and said all the problems were part of the powertrain and it should be covered under warranty and take it back to Chevy tomorrow. He didnt want me spending over 1000 with him, knowing I could get it done at dealer. Professional and putting customers best interest first, very rare these days. Kept my bill at the original estimate and even gave me time and my car back to go to bank to get cash and bring back. All on a SUNDAY! I am a regular customer and I get both my cars for servicing here at the Dublin Midas. This time when I came for oil change and Junior( the Support personal) tried to charger for the things which are already covered in oil change like oil filter and reset of oil change mileage on the car. When I tried to talk to him about it, he tried to argue and gave me weird reasoning for this charges. I have done similar oil changes in the past multiple times and never had these been charged or show up in my bill. Extremely bad service and forcing me to stop coming back. Nearly 2 hours later after asking if my car would be pulled in soon, I was told I'd likely not be seen today. Please stay away And these people are too rude. 05/22 My car is making squealing sound when I remove foot from brake pedal so I went to Midas for inspection and after inspection they told me that brake pads are new but rotors are finished incorrect by previous shop. They recommended to replace both rear and front pads. I asked him why do we need to change the front pads if the sound and problem is from rear. He insisted that I have to change both at same time. For this they charged me $49.99 for this inspection. For second opinion I went to dealer and he also confirmed that rotors are finished incorrect from previous shop and told me that rotors recondition is fine and no need for new brake pads even for rear and they just reconditioned the rotors for $155 Another Experience: I went for oil change in last Feb and after the inspection they told me that, I have to change my rear shocks as there is leakage from my left rear shock. I check with them, as the leakage is from left so can we replace only left , they insisted i have to change both, So for 2nd opinion I went to dealership. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! They told me I had a leak in the axel sheaft of my transmission and quoted me 800.00 to fix it. I took it into my Volkswagen dealership who said I did not have a leak at all!!!! LIARS! I was told my brake pads were very low by the dealership. Midas was supposed to check this for me. They never told me they were low. This place takes advantage of women. Do not take your car to this Midas. If you want a good Midas expierience go to the one in Berkeley on San Pablo! Customer service is HORRIBLE. I brought my car in just for a diagnostic check (engine light on.) more than an hour had passed so I went back to the Midas to check on my car since they were not picking up their phone. My car was still parked in lot, not touched. I asked if it was going to be seen or what time did they think they'll get around to it, because when I checked in my car they told me it would be really quick. (It's just a diagnostic check!) they wanted to charge me $100 for something that only takes 10 mins. Instead of an ETA, they gaffed me off "yeah yeah it'll get seen soon." There were maybe 2 guys moving and working while the one that gaffed me off sat on his butt along with another guy. NOT doing anything. I told him never mind I don't want my car serviced here. He gave me my keys. Horrible customer service- no attempt to make anything right. Even checking in my car took 20 mins because the guy working the front desk wanted to tell the customer in front of me a lifelong tale about something. There were 3 customers behind me! No urgency or professionalism. The facility was ran in a super lackadaisical manner. NEVER coming back here. Rather pay more elsewhere to receive better service. read more

Midas has been running a tv promo with 99.95/axle brake service. I went into the Dublin Midas and they informed me the promo had expired but they would get me a decent price for the service. I left my car there for brake inspection and decided to call Midas, Fremont and asked about the same promo, which they said it was still valid! Dublin Midas, called me back and told me I needed the following service: Brake pads, shoes, rotor ressurfacing and struts for a total of $1300! I told them i did not expect to be paying that much and asked how much would it cost just to get the brake pads in, which they quoted me $500. I told them that I will 'think about it' and decided to go pick up my car but they kept insisting that I do the service, this time for a total of $460. End result: I decided to take my car down the street to the Honda dealer and they did a brake inspection and found out a minor issue with the shin being out of alignment. Brakes and struts were all fine. According to the dealer, there are still many miles to go on my brakes. Cost: $63 bucks. read more

I have been a customer for about 3 years. I took both of our cars here to get every service we ever needed. I had been very satisfied with their service and although, I had heard the many complaints about Midas I continued to take my vehicle there. However, I will NEVER take my vehicle to Midas again. In the middle of Aug, our check engine light went on and it started making a funny noise. I immediatly took it to Midas and within the next few hours they said my head gasket needed to be replaced. I trusted their judgment and they fixed it. They willingly said they would apply any coupons they could. They finally finished my car around the last week of Aug. It came out to about $2,200. I paid it because I trusted them and never for one instant thought they were screwing me around. We drove the car back and when we got into the car the check engine light was still on and it was making the same noise. We took it back to Midas and they said they fixed it. We got the car back and same noise, same check engine sign. We dropped it off AGAIN! They said they fixed it and we had the same issue. We did this for ONE MONTH! IN ONE MONTH they could NOT figure out what the problem was. I was getting fed up because it was ridiculous that they could not figure out what was going on with our car. I took the car to my local shop in San Ramon and found a shop who was highly rated to fix our car. WITHIN one hour of them having it they found it A spark plus was not connected and bolts were missing! I find it funny that with the month Midas had for our car they were unable to find out what was wrong with it, however within the hour of another shop they clearly knew what was wrong with it. I was also alerted by the man fixing our car that he was surprised they claimed it was a head gasket REPAIR because it wasn't overheating and that shouldn't of been the issue. Hmmmm. I agree with all of the AWFUL reviews with this store. I believe 100% that the issue was not the head gasket and they immediately went to the worse thing because they are inexperienced techs. I referred SO many of my family and friends and they will all find new places to do business. I called corporate Sept 27th and spoke with the district manager regarding this situation. He agreed to pay for the amount I had to pay another store to fix our car and see about getting out $2200 back. It has now been a month later and I still have no response. When I receive a response I will let everyone know. However, at this point, this whole situation has showed the Midas DOES NOT care about their customers and they DO NOT know what they are doing. Scammers! Don't go here! I came here three weeks ago? 3/23/16 for an oil change. I have a 2014 Subaru Impreza. I asked for a synthetic oil change. The person that helped me told me that I didn't need the synthetic oil change and that a blend would be okay. I trusted that he knew what he was talking about so I agreed. Last night, on my way to work, my oil light came on. When I checked the oil level, it was almost empty! I want to add that since I've bought my car I have never had my oil light come on (as that I get routine oil changes). I then looked online about the recommended oil for my car. It is synthetic. Subaru cars should never have conventional oil. It burns too quickly and should only be used when in an emergency. You would think that a place that specializes in oil changes would be aware of this! You're probably thinking, as a car owner, I should also be aware of this. Yes, but that's not the point! They are a place of business that we trust will be experts at what they specialize in. At any rate, I'm sure they were very aware, but decided they wanted to scam me so that I would be back at their shop in no time. I definitely came back. I came back and asked for my refund. The manager that helped me did give me a refund, but insisted they couldn't take blame until they further inspect my car. Hell no! You guys are not touching my car ever again! I am currently at Livermore Subaru getting a REAL/ HONEST oil change. I had no idea there was a Subaru dealership in Livermore since Yelp didn't list them when I did a search near San Ramon. Yelp, you guys also need a review from me. :/ In response to Rich P's unprofessional way of dealing with a customer complaint: To start, I did not cause a scene. I came in asking to speak to the manager. I did not yell, I did not raise my voice. After three guys coming in to say, "How can I help you?" And my answer being the same, "I want to speak to the manager", the manager finally came to talk to me. If a customer complaint is considered causing a scene, then you guys need a course in customer service. Continuing on... If in fact your company did put synthetic oil in my car, why would it have been almost completely gone after less than 800 miles of drive time? I had to purchase oil from a nearby gas station just so that I could make it back home after work. If you want the real story, please feel free to contact Livermore Subaru where I went to get my car checked out directly after I went to ask for my refund from Midas. They can tell you the full diagnostic of my car. I was told that I was lucky I brought it just in time or else there would have been real damage to my engine due to the oil that was put in my car after my oil change; which left a lot of gunk, by the way. on Friday the 16th I took my vehicle in to have inspection on my Muffler and pipes my intention was to get the Muffler changed so they put my vehicle on the rack was no problem changing the Muffler so they proceeded to give me an estimate of what it would cost and the cost to have Muffler change and labor they wanted to charge me $261.00 and I thought that was outrageous not only are the overpriced there a rip off. I have my Muffler and my pipes on my vehicle changed and purrs like a kitten for $245.00 at Mission Muffler and Brakes in Hayward they are the best reasonable priced an outstanding job so if you want to get ripped off go to the Midas muffler if you want to save some money as I said go to Mission Muffler and Brakes they will take good care of you. read more

This place is horrific. Took my VW Passat there for new brake pads, but it ended up braking worse than before. Drove on them for a week and it felt completely unsafe, so I took it back. The advisor there admitted that they had put on the wrong type of brake pads and agreed to fix it for free. Sat there for another four hours, and as far as I could tell when I drove it again, they hadn't fixed anything. You know the stereotypical mechanic who takes advantage of women? That's these guys. I took the car here instead of the dealership trying to save a few bucks, but it wasn't worth it. Go see a reputable independent, or, hell, even the dealer, but stay away from these guys at all costs. read more

I got my brakes done here and they called and quoted me a price for front and rear brake pads and rotor resurfacing. My husband wanted the rotors replaced so we asked how much that would be and then we agreed to the replacement at a higher cost. When I picked up my car I found out they had just resurfaced the rotors but charged me the higher price anyway. They ripped me off for $150 bucks by doing the original work at a higher price. And when I pointed it out they were very RUDE to me. I will never go here again!! read more

Unethical and Unfair business practice. I have been a regular customer for all of my 3 cars. However I realized that they are cheating customers on Unfair and outrageous pricing. I recently towed in my Honda odyssey to the facility and after keeping the vehicle for 2 days they charged me $700 for replacing the starter. The after market part was charged at $400 and $300 approx for labor. The same part was being sold for $160-$200 at Orielly auto parts also at other online stores. I also verified the price for this service on yourmechanic.com and the complete quote was including parts and labor was around $465. I also verified the price with another Midas in Fremont, and they quoted me parts+labor at $550 ( $150 difference). I went to the facility on Sunday in hope of talking to their owner to amicably resolve the issue, but the Manager's response was terrible. He was justifying the price difference and blaming us for accepting the quoted price and wished me good luck for next time. @Midas Dublin, Your greed costed you a loyal customer and you will loose many more customers from our community. read more

The service here was friendly, informative and fast. I expressed concern about oil leaking and they invited me under the lift and they gave me a tour of the undercarriage explaining structures and functions of parts. They pointed out some obvious damage and instead of pressuring me to have it serviced they told me best and worst case scenarios. Seriously, no sales pressure. They let me decide what to do balancing pros and cons. My car is really old by the way. They went on to tell me I should think about if I wanted to fix it or just get a new car. BUT YOU DON"T GET PAID IF IT'S NOT FIXED! Now that's an honest assessment. I haven't decided what to do yet but if I do get this work done, I will be back at Midas- Dublin. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is that they charge $99 for their computer to read my check engine light. It seems like that should be a free service. I agree with all the reviews, and wish I had checked them before taking my car in. They were just conveniently located to work. Parts and labor cost more, and leave you feeling worse off than when you started. I took my car in for a brake service because I felt my rear drum brakes were low and causing problems. Well, they said it was my master brake cylinder and also my brake fluid was contaminated. So I allowed them to change both. Now, about a month later my rear brakes are making that low brake pad squeak. Had the pads checked elsewhere, and they said the pads were really low. They will rip off anyone they can, not just women. DO NOT USE THEM. read more
