I brought my car in for a simple tire replacement. Tire was replaced and mounted within a timely manner, however the next morning i discovered the new tire i purchased had gone flat. Had to return to the shop on a spare and i was taken care of. The problem was a broken stem valve on the new tire which they fixed promptly. The reason for my low rating was the lack of customer service at the front desk. When i returned the next monring with the flat "new" tire, there was no apologies given, no ackowledgement of the inconvienience, nothing. Just give me the key and we will look at it. After an hour or so, i saw my car in the lot and asked the service person (Keith), who was in the office, if my car was ready, with attitude he answered "im doing the paper work now" voice full of sarcasm and attitude...as if i am being unreasonable or an imposition. My key was returned to me with the explanation of what happened and thats it. No 'thank you for your business". No "sorry for the inconvienience" not even a "Have a Nice day". Just a blank look as if..."You're done...be gone" I am sure they know what they are doing and great at autocare...but the customer service is lacking...big time. I will not return and will take my car service needs elesewhere...which i am sure they could care less. read more

I took my car to Midas after being turned away at emissions for faulty oxygen sensor code. I had a tune up two weeks prior and a brakes replaced three months prior to taking my car to this shop. Midas inspected my vehicle and called me hours later stating I needed a catalyst converter and oxygen sensor replaced which would cost me $2,089. The repair person said this would resolve my problems and I would pass emissions. Hours later my car was ready for pick up around 5:30 pm. As soon as I drove out the parking lot and accelerated my car sounded like a loud diesel truck and my brakes were making a loud screeching and grinding noise. I drove it for a mile and then called the Midas store back and got no answer. I immediately took my car home and parked it. The next day I called Midas about my car and was told to return back to the store. When I started the ignition of my car it was so loud it sounded like a truck. When I put it in drive and accelerated the sound got louder. I felt I had been betrayed being a female who doesn't know a lot about repairing a car. When I returned to Midas the repairman took my keys and took my car for a quick ride returning very quickly and said it's nothing wrong with your car and walked away. I immediately filed a complaint with the customer service department and requested to speak with the regional manager and requested a refund for services rendered. The next day I took my car to emissions and it passed. Mind you my car was still making the loud noise when you accelerate and turn on the ignition and the screeching brakes when you press the brake pedal. Moments later I received a call from the district manager I told him about the problems I was still having although I passed emissions. He asked to meet with me the next day and I agreed. The next day I drove my car and the noise didn't seem very loud. I canceled my complaint and because my vehicle sound better and it was driving without issues. Two days later the noise returned louder than before and I tried to call the regional manager on his cell number but got no answer or call back. I'm very disappointed with my repairs and feel I'm left to deal with these issues. Who can you trust today to keep your vehicle in good condition. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. No customer should have to pay a hefty price and feel they're car is worst off now than it was before they took it to the shop. I would not recommend this repair shop. read more

This letter details a complaint regarding a service I received at Midas, located at 8407 Central Avenue, Capital Heights, Maryland. On September 5, 2025, an inspection at Bowie Auto Clinic determined that my vehicle's front brakes were fully operational but would likely require replacement around my next oil change. The following day, on September 6, 2025, I took the vehicle to Midas for a brake inspection. The technician recommended replacing the front and rear brakes, including the rotors. Given that I occasionally tow an 11,000-pound travel trailer, I authorized the repair at the quoted price of $2,171.15 to ensure optimal safety. The repair, scheduled for completion on Saturday, was not finished until Tuesday, September 9, 2025. During this time, I made repeated attempts to contact the shop for a status update. Upon my arrival to pick up the vehicle, I requested a pre-payment inspection. When I pressed the brake pedal, it went completely to the floor, indicating a total loss of braking function. I immediately informed the receptionist that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and requested to speak with the technician and the manager. When the manager became available, he was verbally abusive and demanded payment, claiming the vehicle was repaired. I explained that the vehicle was not in a drivable condition and stated that I would not be paying until the repair was completed to my satisfaction. In response, the manager threatened to charge a $50 daily storage fee. The next day, I paid to have my vehicle released and towed to another automotive establishment for a secondary brake inspection. Their findings were alarming; they determined the brake work performed by Midas was not completed properly and posed an imminent risk of complete brake failure if the vehicle had been driven. I have since contacted my attorney regarding this matter and have filed a dispute with the Maryland Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau. The purpose of this letter is to formally document these events and to make others aware of these unacceptable business practices. https://nextdoor.com/news_feed/?post=424876337 Since the incident, Midas has not addressed the Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaint I filed, nor the letter sent by my attorney on October 13, 2025, requesting immediate resolution. Additionally, the Maryland Attorney General initiated an inquiry on October 6, 2025. I will continue to keep the public informed as the situation develops. read more

They fixed a tire leak for free. The circumstances are that they had mounted that wheel a couple of months earlier when I bought four new tires and I found that two lug nuts were jammed when I had tried to mount the spare. So I'm glad to give their average rating here a much-needed boost! read more

My car was just fine when I brought it in for preventative maintenance. Once I came back they broke something and tried to make me pay for and then once they supposedly fixed the problem it got worse then I brought . Drove off now it makes noises everywhere I thought this shop was trustworthy but don't be fooled it's a money trap read more

Waited an hour and a half for an oil change just to be told they can't do my car after I had asked them numerous times if they can do that type of car read more

They changed my sister's oil and did not replace the cap causing major damages to her car. They won't accept responsibility for it. HORRIBLE DO NOT RISK YOUR CAR GO SOMEWHERE ELSE read more

I went her once for an oil change and it seems their goal is to charge for as many things as they possibly can. I tell anyone I can how terrible my experience was here because if you depend on and care for your car, you can't trust this location to care for your car. Shortly after service I started experiencing issues with my check engine light. From the front desk to the technicians, I have no confidence in the abilities of anyone on that property. Do not go here. read more

I was in desperate need of an impromptu oil change prior to an unplanned road trip the following morning. I contacted this shop by phone to see if they were able to accommodate me. I spoke with Clayton and was informed by phone that although they do not take same day appointments it was slow and they would gladly fit me in when I arrived. So I headed over shortly after the call. When I arrived I was greeted by Tamika with no Clayton in sight! To be honest, I was concerned I had arrived at the wrong place because living in DC I was not familiar with the area and thought maybe I was not at the correct location. But after small conversation, Tamika verified this was in fact the correct location and they still could accommodate my oil change. At this time, I am still unsure what Tamika's role is at the shop. I am not sure if she is a manager, customer service agent or what but I cannot thank her enough! She went above and beyond her job description that day to provide comfort to me. My oil change was completed in efficiently and professionally and the staff member also provided me with other suggestions of maintenance for my car. The prices are great and the customer service can't be compared. Although it's a hike, I plan to go back for future car service needs. read more

Took my Car here about sometime in 2016 to get my A/C issue Diagnosed. After making an appointment in advanced and a hour or 2 of waiting to get my car diagnosed the guys comes to me, hands me my keys and says "sorry we don't know whats wrong with it". WTF How in the hell can you not know whats wrong with an Air Conditioner on a Ford Car. And have the nerve to call yourselves "Auto Experts". Complete waste of my time, effort, gas money, anything else you can think of it was wasted. This place will forever be a joke to me due to that experience. They need to learn how to treat customers or find better mechanics. PS I took the car to a different mechanic. He found the issue in less than an hour and my A/C has been blowing ice cold ever since. Great job Midas. read more

Worst Midas experience at this location. The front desk person, Clayton, and the other loud guy who sits it the back are very rude, and they don't know how to talk to customers. They definitely had attitudes toward me and other customers who walked in the shop. After receiving an oil change, I went into my car and noticed they didn't place a sticker/reminder in the window. I walked back inside and asked Clayton if I could get one and his response was "We haven't used the sticker in 4 - 5 years, and to wait until the car tells you to get an oil change." I had my oil changed at another Midas location less than a year ago and I received a sticker. The way he said it was very rude and dismissive. read more

This Midas definitely sucks. I could be getting an oil change or a new engine, it's always the same story, "It'll be at least an hour and a half." Then whoever is at the desk is always rude. They get short with you and act like you're doing them a favor by patronizing their shop vs the other way around. I waited 4 hours for an oil change when there were 4 mechanics in the bay and 3 people in front of me. They need to manage their time better. It's ridiculous how much time I've wasted sitting in these types of businesses. read more

They always tell me and show me what the problems are and offer solutions. A trusted relationship that I'm grateful for having!

Got here at 1:35 to get an oil change. There was 1 lady leaving and 1 lady sitting in the waiting room. But they refused to change my oil because it was the end of the day. The sign says they close at 6pm. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had at any service station. I've been here 4 times in 1 month for brakes. That still do not work. Completely unsafe and they refuse to fix them. Midas is a horrible place to take your car for any work and I would never recommend Midas to anyone. Midas then asked what they could do about the issue. The manager called me and was very combative, talked at me, and actually argued with me about my breaks. Which of course did nothing to solve the problem. I'll probably end up paying once again to have them done somewhere else. Again, I would never recommend Midas. read more

I came here for an alignment. I was told I needed new tires before they could do it & that I have to replace the wheel hub. I decided not to get the alignment BC I was going to get a set of used tires from the tire place across the street. I was tricked into paying $456 for a wheel hub assembly even though the mechanics there KNEW that the frame on my car was bent & needed to go to a frame shop! I went to a different Midas THE NEXT DAY and they told me I don't need an alignment. My car has frame damage! They took advantage of me because I am a young female who doesn't know much about cars & thats DIRTY! I will never go to another Midas again & I'm filing a formal complaint! read more

While I appreciate the hard work of the mechanics, all businesses start with the management. I'm sure it is not easy being a female manager and managing a bunch of male mechanics. Let's face it we can be lazy and do what we want, when we want, where we want. But this manager is one of the worst I have ever experienced. She lacks the patience to deal with customers who need help and are clearly not mechanics, but are trying to describe what is wrong with the car. At one point she steps into the waiting room and verbally says "I hate men." Really? And you wonder why you get no respect from your staff? Instead of sitting in the office popping her gum, this "manager" needs to educate herself on customer relations and how to defuse a situation. I suggest this woman is taken out of her management position and put at the entrance of a Walmart where she can just say hi. read more

I was sitting at Midas in Capitol Heights MD for 2.5 hours for the oil change special and it still took an additional 35 minutes. I was told 45 minutes. I even cancelled all the extra stuff and told them to just drain and fill it for the sake of just getting out of there. Ugh ‍. Bulk of my day wasted. Should've just changed it myself or went to Jiffy Lube. And I didn't even get a reduced price. no rotation, no safety check no nothing! NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Midas is great, I have become a faithful customer because they are always on it & at reasonable prices

I have patronized this location for 3 visits now and I have been very satisfied. I went to them after receiving questionable service from one of the competitors on the same street. The customer service here is much better. They are courteous and prompt. I thought I was going to have to give them a bad review after my second visit. I got my brakes fixed and within a week my brakes were smoking after driving on the highway. They took a look and determined the problem. It was something not related to their previous repair. But in the process of fixing the other unforeseen problem they also redid the brakes to make sure they were okay. A week later they called to make sure everything was okay. I have been very satisfied with their work, their customer service and their follow up. read more
