They were fantastic. About a week ago my computer started refusing to boot from the internal drive (though thankfully it still booted from a USB drive). I spent a week trying various software and hardware fixes on my own before having the sense to bring it to Microworx, where they pretty much instantly diagnosed and fixed the problem. I was impressed by how carefully and thoughtfully the technician listened to my explanation of exactly what the symptoms were, which of course might have had something to do with why he was able to repair everything so effectively. Beyond that, they left me an incredibly detailed voicemail message explaining exactly what had caused the problem and how to fix it if it ever happens again. Beyond that, when I got home I discovered that my entire computer (keyboard, screen, etc) was cleaner than I ever remember seeing it. Beyond that, the price was extremely reasonable, and less than they had led me to expect. I had a terrible experience here 20 years ago and have refused to patronize them since. Of course all of the personnel are different now, and I am so glad I finally gave them another chance. I am absolutely delighted with this place. read more

I called Microworx after getting nowhere with Microsoft or Lenovo to diagnose a start-up problem. I intended to make an appointment to bring the PC in for service. When the young lady asked what was going on I explained the issue I was having. She cheerfully stated that she had a good idea what was going on and said she could walk me through the steps to correct the problem - which she did with a great deal of patience. Microworx now has a new customer for all of my future computer needs! read more

We needed to have my laptop looked at as it's internal camera:web cam was being wonky. So my husband looked online and found this spot. A few things to know..they are not open on Saturday and due to COVID-19 they may only have one tech available. So it shares a doorway with an eye doctors office. I believe you need to ring a bell. They are open from 9-5 but check their website or whatever. Staff is efficient, friendly...but of course there is that... thing is I think certain things were not correctly articulated to us regarding a new internal web cam. I understand with Covid things will take time but we could not be waiting almost two weeks to get my laptop back. Unfortunately the part was not available any place in the area so it had to be ordered from China. This part about that and how long it would take to arrive was not easily available so luckily they had a external webcam to use with our laptop. Thing is I wished we were called to say hey, we could not get you a local internal webcam if we knew that.. I'd give a five star review.. during these trying times we all need a working laptop. I do recommend them as they are professional and showed up how to use everything but the way things were dealt with was kind of a bummer. Yes I went to the business this is first hand knowledge ok. They have shared parking and they gave us a free mouse pad that was cool. Give them a shot.. 4.5/5 read more

One of the mainstays of the Rochester computer scene, Microworx has a well deserved reputation for delivering a quality product & providing excellent service. They're a go-to resource for me & I refer customers to them constantly. Very trustworthy, which is a trait sadly lacking in other local VARs. read more

I have purchased several computers from Microworx, both for my business and home. They are always eager to please and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my machines. The owner greets me by name when I come in and takes a personal interest with any problem I might have. read more

I would like to update my prior review to reflect on Microworx and it's commitment to service excellence. The owner of Microworx contacted me after reading my Yelp review of my first experience with his business. I spoke to Jeff by phone and explained to him in detail as to what my on going issue were with the computer. I set up an appointment with Microworx to try one more time to resolve my issues. I am now completely satisfied with the results and the Microworx staff did a great job of getting things up and working properly for me. I certainly wish we could have taken care of this right the first time but I also understand that its a machine and that these machines break down from time to time. It happens. I am happy to say now that I would recommend Microworx and I give them 4 Yelp stars. I look forward to doing business with them again in the future. read more

TL;DR - They charged a ridiculous fee to do essentially nothing and my problem still exists. My computer has been having issues recording videos where I'll tell it to record at 30 or 60 fps and instead it'll record at some strange interval like 42.97 or 15.93. My monitor has also had issues of flickering on and off occasionally, as well as visual distortions. I took in my PC to Microworx to get it looked at and not only did they not find any issue with my monitor, essentially telling me "we can't find anything wrong so we can't fix it," but also told me the issue was an Anti-Virus scanning the folder and screwing stuff up. I went in, turned off the Anti-Virus, and showed that the issue still persisted. Regardless of the issue still existing, as I showed the "expert," he made up some ridiculous claim about it just being an issue with the PC bottlenecking data or whatever, and told me it was fine. We were charged $80+ for them telling me to click a button, them not even trying to fix my monitor, and both my issues still persisting. Oh yeah, I just tried to record an INCREDIBLY easy to run game (I've worked in this engine before and it isn't demanding at all on the GPU or CPU) and it recorded at 7.49 fps, aka the lowest it's recorded yet. Their service was absolutely appalling. Save yourself the money and do NOT even look at this "establishment." read more

During a recent multi-city trip in New York, I managed to drop my computer's power cable somewhere between NYC and Rochester. Leary of the Big Box stores, I saw the stellar reviews for this place on Yelp. All I can say is that the reviews are well deserved. I came in, they were able to quickly find a compatible cable, and I walked out with a new cable, a now functioning laptop, and a smile. All in less than 5 minutes. Total cost: $5. If I lived in Rochester, this would be my go-to computer shop. read more

If you need your computer serviced, or are looking to purchase equipment, this is the place to go. The owners, husband-and-wife, run a tight little operation. They offer quality goods and stand behind them. We use their services at our small office, and they maintain our server and our network, our Wi-Fi, and all the specialized software that we use. They also have walk in service, and maintain my home computer in tiptop condition, which is necessary these days, as you will invariably get a virus, no matter how careful and Pristine you are in surfing the web. Their prices are competitive, their staff is friendly, and their service has always been perfect. It is a pleasure to do business with this business. read more

I have brought PCs and laptops to Microworx on 3 occasions for cleanup and repairs and each time they have done an outstanding job at the quoted price. I've talked with the tech directly who did the work and he explains clearly the opinions for a very old pc that is not our newest and we decided to use it until it dies for non-critical use and not put lots of money into it. No pressure to do or spend more. Highly recommended them. read more

I needed network support and asked them to install a new web network. It took time to get someone here d/t covid but they guy that came was terrible. Didn't want to listen to our needs or wants, just wanted to change the router. He smelled so badly of smoke, I couldn't be near him. He changed the router and immediately I told him we had a problem because the only thing picking it up was the ethernet, no wifi. He explained it was because we use apple stuff and apple is stupid. I said be that as it may, please fix it. He did a slight adjustment and left. We still had 0 internet except in the one room where the router was. I called. No one called me back even though I called several times. I finally wrote to them via their webpage and asked them to pick up the router and call it a day that I would not pay for service. I heard NOTHING more from them until I got a bill today for the router. I called again and told them they needed to pick up the router. They said oh...sorry ok. We'll see. No one in the company cared about the terrible service guy or terrible service. We used them previously with no issue, but this was crazy. I found an excellent service provider who came, agreed we should have a web network installed it and we are golden. No thanks to Microworx at all. read more

Microworx helped me build a gaming PC about a year ago, apologies for the late review. They helped me pick out parts to keep within my budget and thank god because i had no clue what i really needed or how to snap it all together. I have utilized Microworx for repairs on my PC as well as my family's PCs, they have always done excellent work that they stand behind and at a very fair price. I would never go anywhere else. Recently I was in the market for a new PC that I would be using for my job. I could not be happier at the service that I have received from everyone at Microworx. They took the time to ask me very specific questions as to how I would be using the machine and never once try to "upsell" me. They really cared that I got the right PC for what I needed. Best Buy said my Lenovo Y-50 laptop needed a new motherboard and dc jack and wanted $570 to do the work. Took it to Microworx instead where they determined that it only needed a new dc jack (not a $300 motherboard like Best Buy said) and charged me $160 parts and labor. Conclusion -- Best Buy is either incompetent or dishonest (take your pick) and Microworx is both competent and fair. read more

I know a bit about computers. I can make most repairs myself however I would rather have a professional do so, since they have more experience. I brought my laptop to microword expecting a professional computer repair person. Instead I got professional scam artists. They charged me for two hours of work for fixing a fan which takes ruffly 30 min. In addition to this they tried to tell me the fan I purchased was not the right one. Suddenly a 60 job became a 200 dollar one. When asked why it took so long the tech could not explain. When I asked too see why the fan I purchased would not fit they refused. After several arguments I got the price back down. read more

I have been going to this location for a couple years, and it is the only local computer place I deal with. Almost all of my purchases are done through the internet. However, I find microworx pricing and products to be as good at times. The staff replies to emails very quickly, product knowledge by employees is good to great. Very customer friendly. Clean store with modern products. After working at the retail giant competitors, I'm happy to see and say, Microworx is better. Thanks for your services.
