Bought a refurbished laptop on newegg, and they sent a different laptop with different features. They then offered to send me an inferior laptop as a replacement. When I pointed out that they were trying to send me a cheaper laptop than what I paid for, they assured me they would send me the difference. Of course, they stopped reresponding to me on newegg and refused to pick up my calls once it was time to pay me the difference in value. The laptop I did receive was not set up properly, and I had to set up access to the partitioned drive myself. I also had to install my own screen brightness program. They are frankensteined, partially finished computers, and a shop run by liars. read more

Another diamond gem hidden in a complex! Got a super fast evaluation on why my laptop of 4 years failed ( and honest on whether to repair or upgrade.) Got a great price on a reliable new one. I recently purchased two "Grade A" computers from this company off of NewEgg. These computers were covered in scratchs, dents where the vents are and the back plates were not even screwed down. This is far from Grade A refurbish. At most these would be C grade. I would not recommend this company as it is apparent that they have a very, very, VERY low standard of what Grade A means. These units are basically worthless for me to try to resell as I will have to put in about $200 in work just to get them back to what should be Grade A. This puts me in a bind, because now I have to do work to fix these up, in the meantime, find actual good looking computers for my client that needs them. Ordered an all-in-one Lenovo ThinkCentre from Fairport Computers thru NewEgg. The item arrived well ahead of their predicted delivery date, it was packed carefully by somebody plainly experienced (the blizzard of pink packing peanuts took up an entire kitchen garbage bag), and they did it all during the pandemic lockdown. Impressive. The unit bears appropriate physical wear. I upgraded it myself from Windows 7 to 10, with Microsoft's good help, and I use it as my daily driver. The item was also materially different from the item depicted at NewEgg, and which I wanted. Specifically, that generation of Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop all-in-ones came configured with one of two stands. I wanted the kick stand, as they depicted it. Instead it came with the inferior pedestal stand. I reached out to offer trading stands at my expense and inconvenience if they had one. Someone emailed to say he'd look around. Never heard from him or her again. So I'll continue to use it every day until I sell it or gift it or donate it and that's that. I will also be benignly steering friends and family and coworkers away from Fairport Computers. read more

I am surprised there are two 5 star reviews. Maybe they are better at fixing than they are at selling "refurbished" machines that work. I have never had a worse purchase experience as I have had with this vendor. We originally ordered on 6/26. It was not shipped out until I emailed to find out when it would be shipped, and this was almost a week later. When we received the laptop it had been over two weeks since the purchase. No packing slip or proof of purchase in the box and the box was dented and scuffed pretty badly. The computer appeared to be fine and was wrapped in bubble wrap. The device was supposed to come with a charger but it did not. We had to ask for a charger to be sent. The charger came via 2-day shipping but was only half. It was missing the cable that goes from the charger box to the wall so we had to go purchase that. Once we were able to plug the laptop in, the laptop would not accept a charge. We took it to Apple and they verified that the battery situation was bad. We asked for a new battery and it was sent to us via Amazon. We switched out the battery but it still did not work. We went back to Apple and ordered an Apple battery to see if that would work. It came in yesterday (7/19) and when Apple opened the back to install the battery, the staff indicated that the mother board had corroded battery attachments and that we would need a new motherboard. Needless to say this piece of crap is going back. Company owner stated that the laptop tested just fine and worked before he shipped it out. What a crock. I believe this vendor is unscrupulous and the owner lies to try to cover himself from bad customer service and workmanship. Today (7/20-yes almost a month of this crud) he wanted to blame the shipping box for the battery problem when we already sent him a picture of the corrosion on the motherboard. I am lucky to have a husband who work in IT so he has been able to figure out what has been going on and to make sure we know when the guy is lying or being honest. If you are thinking about purchasing from this guy, just don't. I'm not exaggerating about this epic fail of a transaction at all. I wish I had read the vendor reviews before I had made the purchase through Newegg. Fail on my end. I will always check vendor reviews before I ever make a purchase like this again. read more

When I am home, and something very bad happens to a device (almost always a computer), such as a cracked screen, weird hacking, etc., I think, "Help!", and then take it almost instantly to Faiport Computers. They have fixed many "emergencies" fast, efficiently and reasonably. So glad they exist. read more
