I completely regret not paying the extra money and accepting Woody from Mayflower's quote. This is the worst moving company I have ever used. This company lost multiple screws and pieces need to put back our furniture even though they took it apart. They only sent one guy to move and assemble the stuff at destination. So he couldn't get to all our stuff before he had to be back on the road again. If you have anything from Ikea or that is made of particle board it will not be cover by the insurance they provide that includes there high level insurance that you pay extra for. They will also wait to tell you this until the inventory process when they have everything loaded on the truck. You will have to constantly call and email if you want to be sure of where your stuff is. They will lie to you so unless your stuff is being off loaded. Do not trust their dates at all. read more

I hired Micro Ship Inc to do a local move on August 5th. They gave me a quote and confirmed the contract terms. Michael was the sales person who gave me the quote. On August 4th afternoon, less than 24 hours before the scheduled move, they called to postpone the move date because they do not staff to do move. I told them that is not possible because I am selling/buying homes and need to move that weekend. I had to eventually hire another movers at the last minute and paid a huge premium to do the move. I sent multiple text and email messages to Michael but he was completely unresponsive. It is unbelievable that company's like this still exist in business. They do not understand that once a move is scheduled, they have to honor it. read more

I hired MicroShip to transport a formal dining room table and chairs from Chicago to New Jersey. They told me they make this particular trip all the time and that it would only take 2-3 weeks after pickup. While they picked up the furniture promptly, I didn't hear back from them about delivery. I called their office two weeks after pickup and was told they'd return my call. Nothing. Finally, one month later, I was told by the owner that the furniture would leave Chicago the following week. I explained that the paperwork had been misleading since I expected the furniture earlier. He essentially told me that I had misread their crystal-clear contract. About 15 minutes later, he called me back to apologize (for calling me an idiot), explaining that they had misfiled my paperwork, which is why the furniture was not shipped out earlier. (No one told me that.) When the furniture finally arrived, 7 weeks after pickup, the hardware connecting the table leaves was missing, and one of the $500 chairs had a broken back support. After submitting my claim, I received a letter saying they had forgotten to charge me for the insurance premium, but the cost of repair was less than the premium--so they would do me the favor of not charging the difference between the repair and the premium. In addition to the annoyance of the missing hardware and the broken chair, I noticed on the shipping label that the people who picked up the furniture marked every piece as damaged, scuffed and scratched - to prevent claims on the other end. Since most of the furniture arrived in pristine condition, one can only assume that drivers are instructed to make these blanket claims re: condition to reduce the incidence of claims. I was very disappointed in the service and lack of professionalism by Micro Ship and would recommend finding another option - or covering all of your bases since this vendor is more interested in CYA than in customer service. read more

My 3 siblings and I hired Micro Ship to move our mother's furniture to our respective homes in Illinois, Colorado, Wisconsin and Maryland. We chose this company because they were by far the cheapest on all 4 quotes. I received my furniture today which consisted of a triple dresser, headboard, 2 night stands, 2 bookcases and a dozen other smaller items. They wrapped all the furniture with blankets and plastic wrap and removed it all when it arrived. Everything arrived in the same condition as when it left Chicago. Rob was the person coordinating the move and he did a great job making sure everything got to where it was supposed to go (a houseful of furniture and misc. delivered to 4 different states) and was up front about the timing of the delivery. Antonio and Johnathan were at my house to deliver my stuff exactly at the time they said they would be there. They were also VERY professional and extremely personable. Microship did a great job for us twice, first moving from a house to storage units, and then from the storage units to a new house. They sent 2 trucks and 6 men, got everything in safely and did all the unpacking we wanted. The men were hard-working, responsive, pleasant, flexible and careful. I originally contacted Mayfower moving because of the reputation they have. I have heard and read many horior stories regarding moving cross country and did not want the same thing to happen to me. Mayflower sub contracts out so they put me in contact with Quality relocation whom uses Microship Inc from my understanding. My originally date to pack was may 21st ,I believe, which they ended up asking me the night before if they could pick my things up the next day, May16th, and I told them that would be fine. I originally signed a contract that stated 2-8 weeks for delivery and then when they arrived I signed another contract that stated 2-21 business days for delivery. I never have received any calls regarding when my things have left Chicago and or when they plan to arrive in California. I called several times and spoke to Judy, whom has been very helpful. I was then told they would leave on the 14th of June and still nothing. I have had to call them several more times to get updates or try and get answers regarding my possessions. I leave out of the country on August 1st and have family coming into town this weekend with no bed to sleep on. I am completely dissatisfied with these services and would like a refund. I paid with a visa credit card and the full payment was deducted from the company before belongings ever left chicago. As of right now I still do not have my furniture including my bed!!!!!!!!!! I hired this company based on a friend's recommendation. They picked up the furniture on 11-21-14. I paid them approximately $1,100. They said it might take a couple of months. I've called and been told soon. Finally yesterday I sent a letter to MicroShip. They called today and said they need $400 MORE before they would deliver. After beIng paid and after sitting on this for FOUR months they say they won't deliver until I pay more. They said it's because they underestimated the shipping weight. They wanted a credit card payment over the phone. I asked that they provide a statement, then I'd pay. They balked. I'll pay it, but in the future I will AVOID THIS COMPANY!! I used Microship back in May (2017) when I moved to my new house. Working with the professionals at Microship was the easiest and least painful part of my move. Their moving professionals were on time and moved all of my furniture and fragile items quickly and safely. From the time they arrived at my old home to the time they were unloaded in the new house it was a total of 4hrs. Nothing broke and everything was moved with care. When choosing a moving company to move us from Chicago to Texas, I was overwhelmed with the poor Yelp reviews I read from many different companies. Moving is overwhelming as it is, and moving across the country is extremely overwhelming. We were beyond satisfied with Microship. Robert was very easy to work with, and the crew he sent out was beyond professional. Antonio- who has been with Microship for 10 years (I think?) was one of the best movers I have ever had. Not only is he strong (!) but he is professional, reliable, and as nice as they get. He picked our stuff up in Chicago and promised to meet us in Austin 4 days later at 1 pm on a Sunday. At 12:30 pm, he texted that he was on time and would see us soon. So above and beyond what we expected! He brought someone to help us with the unpacking (we paid extra for this- something we asked for) that was incredibly helpful. If I owned this company, I would treat this employee like gold- he is that good. It seems a lot of their crew has been with them for a while- which says a lot. The only issue we had was a math error in calculating our weight. They overcharged us, but promptly answered us and said they will issue a refund for the difference- which I feel will happen. If not, I will respond to this. Moving companies seem to get a bad rap online. I am told there are fake reviewers from competitors, etc. I assure you I am a customer and a very pleased one, at that. If you are looking for a company to move you across the country and take care of your things- you are in good hands. I was worried about the bad reviews and called them about it. They told me that while they had some bad reviews they also had tons of letters from customers thanking them for their service. I took a chance and hired them move quite a bit of furniture (including antiques) from Illinois to California. I always hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I had lined up some furniture repair services lined up but never needed to use them. The condition of the furniture arrived in CA exactly the same condition it left IL. What more can I say. I can honestly say I will never be using this subpar at best moving service anymore. All they care about is lying about the weight and collecting your money. Rob Kaye tries to be this low key smooth talker but he knows how to play people. Plus 4 or 5 of my items delivered were dented and broken. And when I called to ask about getting a refund they said they'd call me back and never did. They're unprofessional, they use kids to work at their warehouse tossing your stuff around like it's nothing and pay them 10 bucks an hour. If you're Lovie Smith or some high profile person hauling a 100k baby grand piano and you pay them a 20k premium fee you may get the red carpet treatment. Otherwise average schmucks like me and you get whatever they give us. My recommendation is for you all to pass this shit company up and go with one of the bigger outfits. DO NOT USE MICROSHIP. I had the worst experience moving from Chicago to Boston. I contracted through Atlas Van Lines, with Microship coordinating and executing the move. After being quoted $2,400 for the move (including packing/materials and labor), I was charged $5,000+ due to "excess weight." Upon inspection of the estimate (which took 2 months to receive), it appeared that the weight estimate was based on the assumption that my furniture had negligible density, which was not only dishonest but fraudulent. Further, pick-up was delayed two days due to their own internal scheduling conflicts, and drop-off was delayed 10 days past the originally scheduled delivery date. Additionally, items were damaged, boxes were reused from previous moves (which I was still forced to pay for), and customer service was horrific. Microship was not only unprofessional, but also dishonest and fraudulent. Do not use them under any circumstance. I would give them 0 stars if I could. read more

We had to move several family heirlooms from an estate in Chicago to two different locations in the US (Denver & Los Angeles). MicroShip was way less expensive and more responsive than being an add-on to a traditional moving van lines order (MicroShip actually picked up on the following morning!) MicroShip was way less expensive and more service oriented than a freight carrier (MicroShip disassembled and wrapped furniture, and padded and loaded it onto their local truck; the load was transferred and properly padded and secured for the long distance haul!) The loading crew was great, the office staff was great, and the furniture was delivered within the promised time window in excellent condition at each location. I would use this company for every move if I could. read more

This company was one of the worst people I had to deal with ever. First of all, they were clear with me at the beginning that the minimum was going to be much smaller than it actually was. They quoted me at about 700 dollars, but it ended up being 1200 with the minimum that was actually there. The people that picked my belongings up were very nice, but they said they were going to be there in the morning and didn't show up until 7PM at night and didn't call. They say they have a shipping of 2-21 buisness days, but it took me over a month to get my belongings. I had this same issue when it finally came with the guy not calling me. On top of that, the personal check was good for the first half, but they didn't tell me that a personal check wasn't good enough for the second part. I had to run to the bank in the middle of work to get a certified check, and even then don't even think about the money order. They're nice on the phone ,but the service was about as bad as I could of asked for. Do yourself a favor and spend another 100 dollars and get a better company. read more

I just read the Karen F's review and could not agree more. Microship had been recommended by a friend who had used them for her move from Chicago to NYC. She had a reasonable experience and didn't have too much stuff so things worked out. I was moving my entire one bedroom apartment. When I originally called I spoke to Tom (I believe the owner/manager), he was very nice and gave me a reasonable quote. He also mentioned that since I was moving my stuff out well in advance that I would be at an advantage in terms of getting my stuff when I wanted it. When the Microship employees arrived at my apartment in Chicago, they were very professional and spent ample time wrapping all my furniture up and going through the inventory listing with me. At the time I scheduled Microship, I had not found my apartment in Philadelphia, as soon as I did and had a move in date from the apartment building, I called Microship back and gave them the address and my move in date. From that point on, everything was downhill. Upon speaking with Tom, he was rude and condescending. He would not allow me to complete my sentence, but rather would continuously interrupt me, and accused me of misconstruing what he had originally told me. He said they had a 2 to 21 business day window of the move in date to deliver my stuff. Furthermore, when I asked if he would be accommodating since we were having issues getting the freight elevator in my new building, he said he wouldn't even do that for his mother and hung up on me. My fiance and I got a notice two days before the our stuff was being delivered. Upon arrival, they immediately asked for additional money for the furniture being over the estimated weight. I understand that this is the norm with movers, however not once during my conversations with Tom was this mentioned to me and all of a sudden they wanted straight cash to cover the additional weight. They had not even brought in any of the furniture yet, quick to collect, but not ready to complete the work first. Additionally, they arrived almost a full 2 hours late after knowing that we only had the freight elevator for a certain amount of time. Then they spent more than two hours unloading the truck and loading the freight elevator. On the first run up, the Microship employee's 16 year old son came up to deliver a half empty freight elevator. He had no clue what he was doing andy any time I asked him a question he had a standard response "I don't know you'll have to ask the other guy." He went on to tell me my couch wouldn't fit through the door. He then proceeded to take the couch back to the freight elevator and disappeared for another hour or so. When the actual Microship employee actually returned, he was telling me that the couch wouldn't fit through and I was adamant that it would as I have moved it out of two different apartments now. They were trying to fit a three seater couch vertically through the door; and the Microship employee was saying it wouldn't fit based on his unexperienced son's first attempt. The Microship employee finally got the couch in and the rest of the furniture, but all the meanwhile he was yelling at someone (I couldn't figure out if it was at his son or someone on the phone). He was also extremely short and very unprofessional. Finally, when it came time to get my inventory, he just dropped the list off, and instead of going through it item by item he had me sign it as a receipt and rushed off. It turns out when I had a chance to finally walk through the apartment, they had severely damaged my bed - there were huge chunks of wood missing and scratches everywhere; they had chipped the corner of my wooden dresser; and had taken it upon themselves to not deliver a floor lamp that I had them move from Chicago (I reviewed the inventory list and next to it was an X stating "broken and uninsurable). I have never been so dissatisfied with a moving company and will never again recommend this company to any of my friends. read more

Microship delivered our household items from Chicago to Denver 5 weeks late, many were broken or missing and when the drivers were finally in route they got pulled over in Iowa and the driver got arrested for a suspended license. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! I wish a 0 star rating was an option. First, delivery says 2-25 business days estimate from date of pick up, it took 5 weeks to get my items. Goods eventually showed up at my new apartment along with an additional $800 receipt because I was over weight and my credit card was charged without my knowledge. I played phone tag with the company for 1-2 months and tried to set up a specific date and time to discuss why I wasn't notified of the overage prior to shipment, but Microship stopped returning my calls/emails. I finally filed a dispute with the credit card company...let me tell you, that got their attention. Microship finally called, and that conversation quickly turned into yelling back and forth with them calling me "a little sh*t" and "a**hole.". We hired them for a multiple-home move from our parents' house in Wisconsin, with furniture and boxes going to several places around the country. They picked up on-time, wrapped everything well, got it to us within a couple of weeks as promised, and were professional the whole time. The delivery guy, Carmichael I think (?) , got into our area on Easter Sunday and allowed us the choice, stating several times he didn't want to mess up our Easter (we were glad to not to have to do it on a workday), he knew that another part of the load was going to my brother in Las Vegas, etc. They do seem to be a budget movers but that kept the cost down for us. The movers showed up on time, packed everything very well...there was no damage done to anything and they were fast delivering. This has been a very stressful time for my husband and I but the day of the move went so smooth and so easy that it was one less thing I had to worry about. I would not recommend using Microship to anyone. I would be willing to chip in to help a friend move before letting them use Microship. The communication was terrible throughout the entire process. I was repeatedly told I would be charged the same price regardless of the number of items I shipped, because it would still be considered a small move (1 bedroom apartment). It took several attempts via email and phone call to nail down a specific pick up time. Then once my items were already en route, I was told I would be charged $1000 more than I was initially told. Throughout this entire process, they were never able to tell me when my items would be arriving, other than some time between 2-21 business days. They were also never able to tell me where my items were, which is very unsettling. Once I finally heard from the driver regarding the delivery date, he then contacted me (after business hours) the day before the delivery stating he would no longer be able to make it on the originally scheduled day but was unable to provide any further details regarding delivery. Once he rescheduled the day, he continued to push back the time of delivery and was several hours later than expected, meanwhile acting as though he was doing me a favor by delivering earlier than the rescheduled date. Upon delivery, I asked if they would like a trash bag for all of the plastic wrap. They said they didn't need one and they would take care of the trash. However, after they left and I started unpacking, I found all of the plastic wrap shoved between boxes and in the mailbox. As if moving isn't stressful enough by itself, Microship made the process much more stressful. I will never be using their service again. read more

My experience with MicroShip was so negative, that's it taken me a couple of weeks to recover in order to write this review. From the beginning, their communication was inconsistent and frustrating, relying solely on myself to call back and email when I hadn't heard from the office for a few days. Mary was behind on getting me revised quotes. After finally confirming an estimate that put me in a preferred delivery window for a Wednesday (I started a new job, in a new state the following monday) , the movers showed up on the wrong day to pick up my load, causing a huge disruption with my property management as I hadn't informed them I was moving out on that day because I was STILL awaiting confirmation from MicroShip. Even after the movers showed up unannounced, Microship STILL could not readily confirm my pickup timeframe for the next day. Finally, my load was picked up where I denoted on the papers that I was not allowed to receive past 7pm during the week. This is where everything really went to hell. One of their drivers, who had been part of the team who picked up my load- nice guy- quit! Yes, he quit and I should have seen the light then and there. The following Wednesday (my preferred delivery date) came and went. I called and emailed the office only to receive no response. I finally got a hold of Mary the next day and she let me know that their driver had quite DAYS AGO and that she would have to check when I could get delivered. This means they knew my load would be delayed and decided to not communicate it. The whole time, my shipment was in their warehouse in Chicago. After not promptly hearing from Mary again, I called back only for them to now tell me that they had a driver coming back from California and will send him straight to Massachusetts (delivery state) in order to get my load in by SUNDAY evening! She insisted that this was unorthodox since drivers usually take a break in between moves. Incredibly poor planning and communication. I'm not infuriated that I'll be moving in on Sunday but I make clear that it needs to be before 7pm, as denoted by my move in restrictions. I call the driver on Sunday, poor guy has basically driven across the country, but he's not going to make it. I had to convince a family member to take the day off on Monday, my first day on the new job, in order to move me in. Mind you, I had send images of the stairways and spaces to Microship because I knew it would take a while since they are small spaces. The move on Monday took 5 HOURS. To boot, Mary had sent me an email saying that I needed to pay the rest of my deposit in cash on delivery day. YET THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD ON SATURDAY. I immediately called my bank! Was this company really trying to get me to pay twice for a delayed shipment and horrible service? When I told my family member to refuse to pay the movers on sight because they Microship charged my credit card, all hell broke lose. Mary called me incessantly. My family member even called the Rob Kaye in order to figure out the discrepancy who was so incredibly rude and inappropriate, my family member felt like she needed to get a lawyer involved. The whole thing was so traumatic that the delivery guy working on behalf of this company started to open up to my family member and complain about how awful they are. The experience was so scarring that the large area rug that didn't make it to my new apartment has been labeled a casualty rather than an excuse to be in contact with this company again. I've moved several times and Microship is the least professional moving company I've used. They lack communication skills and respect for not just their customers but their own employees. I used Microship to help with my mother's move. They were terrific. Our situation was a downsize where small shipments were headed to areas out of state. Microship was great not just because they were one of the only companies that offered prices for the less than the standard "studio apt" amount. But that they are used to handling antiques and single odd pieces of furniture that can be very tricky to move. They helped with packing breakables and antique ornate chairs that all arrived perfectly. The chicago crew made the trip and were familiar with the boxes. I made sure to label and number the boxes - which helped our family's management. Their system looked a bit like auction lot stickers- very thorough. The guys had accounting for each parcel on arrival. We were able to opt-in for extra insurance for the breakables. The biggest thing overall was the fact we were coordinating this from a different part of the country. We could always get someone on the phone (Mary is amazing) and they always had good information. I was offsite during pickup and was able to easily shift to my brother being there to greet the guys. It was honestly ridiculous how smoothly the whole thing went.
