System fan on my Thinkpad T43 was on its last breath. Bought the part online for $40, they did the install for $80. My palm rest had some cracks in it so bought a new one and they installed it too, for free (they'd have to put the palm rest back on anyway). Overall a job well done. Completed in 2 days as promised. My laptop works like a charm again, without the whining of a dying fan. 5-Star quoted me $70 but they're further from me and Micro still isn't a rip off like Best Buy. read more

I want to write a positive review for these guys, but I just can't. They're inexpensive, fast and decently friendly, but here's my problem.. About two months ago my hard drive died in my 2011 top of the line 27" iMac. I bought one from Amazon and decided to go to them because they were cheap and fast. When I picked my computer up, it had issues starting up, both in store and when I took it home. I don't know if they are at fault for this, but it's never happened prior to the visit. I also should've taken it back to them the second it wouldn't start up at my home, but after messing with my power strip, it started up fine. Now, a week and a half ago, the power in my apt went out and my computer wouldn't start again. Took it to Apple and they said the power supply was fine but that the hdd was failing. This was confusing but I ended up getting another hdd from Amazon and had it replaced again at MCC. My computer started up fine in their store, but again had issues starting up at my home. They had previously told me is was probably something with the power supply.. Which is now being fixed at Apple and hopefully will be the end of my issues. **My real problem with MCC is that when I got home after the second repair, I had THREE DENTS in my computer. Two on the front, bottom corners, and the base stand is bent a little. I didn't notice these until I got it home, but called right away. Their response was completely unapologetic, showed no remorse and they offered no solution. I have seen their workspace and it is appalling. Computers are stacked on top of each other, parts are everywhere, it's dirty, I didn't see any anti-static wrist bands or other safety measures.** I work from my computer, my computer is my life. I took a risk going here to try and save a few bucks and it may have cost me my entire computer. I can't say for certain the extent of the damage they caused, but I absolutely regret going here. If Apple finds the logic board damaged (possibly from static shock), I'll have to buy a whole new computer. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra cash for peace of mind. read more

This was my first time coming here.... My mother in law recently blessed me with an early model Mackbook Pro. She uses this shop for all her computer service needs. I'm not certain of the extent of their knowledge of either PC or Mac but, they do service both. The shop was umm.... Well... I felt like I walked into an 80's time warp. The sign on the outside and the decor on the inside of the store immediately lets you know that it's been there for quite a while. This could be considered a bad thing, as well as a good sign. I've patronized many Mom & Pop businesses over the years who've had the same vibe & have provided AWESOME service! Cluttered and old is a great way to describe the interior of the store. Computers to be repaired? ...to be picked up? I don't know... There was stuff lying around all over.....also dust.... That doesn't seem to be too safe for a place that's always opening up computers. But... Don't judge a book by it's cover... The most important thing is: They fixed the computer, replaced the hard drive, didn't take forever to do it and didn't knock me over the head in price. The lady working at the counter was very nice, professional and courteous. I was right in and right back out the door in no time. I was satisfied. In the future, I'd bring my computers back to them (especially when the warranty is up). read more

So, I'm going to have to join in on the terrible reviews. I came here based on the four-star rating on Yelp, but I won't be coming back. I brought a friend's laptop in for some repairs. First off, it isn't exactly comforting to take a computer to a repair shop that looks like a historical diorama from 1996. With all of the ancient Microsoft advertisements in there, it is sort of the PC equivalent to an East German hospital. Anyway, the lady at the front tells me that they'd call me back the following day about what was wrong with it. I waited three days. No call, so I called them. The first person I talk to tells me they'd call me back whenever the "tech" comes in. I call a few hours later. The next person I talk to says they'l call me back in another two hours. Three hours pass. Finally, I call a third time and get put on hold for 15 minutes. I hang up, call back, and get put on hold again. I finally talk to the person working on my computer and they tell me that the computer is totaled. After sending the laptop to its manufacturer, we discovered that the battery simply needed to be replaced. I mean, I'm usually pretty relaxed about bad service. But this was f*cking ridiculous. I'd take the Geek Squad over this. read more

Very poor customer service. I asked for a MacBook Pro charger and he had two in stock. He then told me they won't work for my model and they're no longer for sale. I work as an IT Manager and have been in IT for 6+ years, this was a great example of how not to run a business. I am so happy to have Micro Computer Center just a few minutes from my house. I have been going here for 10 years and have always had good experiences. It feels like going to your neighborhood dry cleaner or tailor -- I bring my broken hard drives and computers in and the owner always greets me warmly and takes care of my problems without any drama. I would kill myself if I had to go to Geek Squad or some other big box repair center. Having done that, I now keep my beer a safe horizontal can or two away from my laptop in the event a grasp for my beer becomes as clumsy as a flailing dog's tail again. i live about 2 hours away from this location which is the closest branch to where i am at, so before i actually drive there, i wanted to call ahead and ask a few questions. i was interested in buying a new PC, but when i called in, i was on hold for about 5 minutes before anyone picked up. things get busy, i understand. but once they did answer, it was horrible. there was not a welcoming person on the other end of the line, and even before i could finish my question, they cut me off and started going off on a tangent which had nothing to do with what i was trying to ask. needless to say, even though they have some better prices, i ended up spending more money at a different company just because of how poorly received my phone call was. i spent over $2k in computer equipment, and micro center did not receive any patronage from me. teach your people to be a bit more receptive when people ask questions. read more

My laptop got hit with a virus that totally disabled it within an hour. It went completely haywire and the viral pop-ups were unstoppable. I called Micro Computer Center in a panic and they told me to bring it in right away. They called me back the next day and informed me that my computer had been infected with the Windows Police Pro virus. They gave me an estimate which I thought was very reasonable. Granted, I was just thrilled they could fix it! The next day it was as good as (or better?) than new. They even upgraded my Microsoft Office package and installed a trusted anti-virus program so I wouldn't get infected again. read more

I had an issue with my computer where the screen went black, yet it was otherwise working OK. I got a quote at Staples (where I bought it) to have it fixed for $350.00. I found Micro Computer Centers online and brought it here. Within the same day, they diagnosed the issue, called me and told me it would be $109 to fix- ready the next morning. They are friendly and did it all at a decent price and I'm happy with the result. I like this little place for parts and things like that. It really feels like a neighborhood shop, and the owner is always there, right on the floor, ready to help you out. (I can walk there from my house, too, which is nice). They always have what I want, so far anyway, and the prices are good. Beats going to any of the big corporate box stores, that's for sure. When my computer went on the fritz, I knew it would not be cost effective to get a new one and I really needed to get it repaired, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of picking a repair shop. My wife offered to find a place and bring it in for me, and she found this little place. I went to pick it up when it was ready. I realized when I saw it that I had been in this shop briefly many years ago. This has been here a long time! So, I was surprised at two things: 1) It was ready more quickly than I thought. I knew that the problem was that the power supply was shot, and I figured they'd need to order a new one. But the computer was ready to pick up only a day or two after my wife brought it in. 2) I was surprised at how cheap it was. Got it home and it works fine. Glad I decided to get it repaired instead of replaced now, as it was less inconvenient and less expensive than I expected. Obviously I would use these guys again. read more

Wow, I can't say enough about Moe at Micro Computer Centers. My eMac died on a Sunday night. Monday I called another service company and they told me to just "buy a new computer". I then called Micro CC and Moe told me he would take a look at it. For $35 he would check it out, and then I could use the $35 towards the repair or towards a new computer. Guess what?? Moe fixed my computer and also got the airport extreme card to work for $70!! I figured Moe saved me at least $1,500!! read more

HORRIBLE!!! took my laptop in because it crashed one day, I figured it was a simple fix, like a battery, so I wanted to take it somewhere else then Apple...... wrong choice. Micro Computer's told me that my hard-drive had crashed, after weeks of asking them to not do any repairs ( I wanted a second opinion) I was met with nothing but hostility and total rudeness!! Finally after many phone calls and angry conversations i was able to pick my laptop up. I then took it to Apple to get another opinion.... indeed my hard drive was the problem, but because it was REPLACED WITH A BROKEN ONE!!! No one had accessed my MacBook except for the people at Micro Computers!! I was informed by Apple that a 3rd party had removed the original hard drive and replaced it. Apple said they could instantly see that someone had went in and replaced it, the serial numbers did not match.... they informed me that MICRO COMPUTER'S STOLE MY HARD DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! When I called to confront them was again met with hostility, flighty, very negative behavior. They gave me no answers, and when I asked to speak to the owner he was conveniently always out of the country. Never returned my calls, problem was never resolved. I brought my computer here after it wouldn't turn on. They told me someone will call me in 24hours, no one did. After several calls and four days later, I find out my computer had a fried Mother Board. They said it will take a week to fix. I told them I work from home and need fixed asap. They said it would take a week for the mother board to ship. I said okay since I was able to borrow a computer and was leaving on a two week trip. I got back and it still wasn't fixed. It took additional two days. They assured me that my data was all there, it wasn't I lost all my ebooks, contacts, and many of other files. In addition, my files are not read only and I can't modify them. Also, Two USB drives are not working. But biggest problem of all, is I brought in a 64 bit machine now I only have 32 bit machine and when the computer goes into sleep mode the pointer (mouse) freezes forcing me to reboot. Many of my programs don't work and I can't afford to go another two weeks with out my system. I probably won't be coming back. It's sad because I've brought my last two computers here as well. read more
