Good selection of computer parts and accessories. I only usually come here if I need specific computer accessories. They have TVs and other stuff, but I dont really know if its good pricing. For bigger and more expensive items, i would compare pricing as sometimes they are more expensive here. They have knowledgable staff that can help, for example if you are trying to build your own computer or some other kind of project. Its nice to have a place like this where you can physically browse and see they stuff, i dont like buying online to try and then end up returning stuff. read more

Went to MicroCenter in Yonkers on May 2nd to get a new battery for my daughter's laptop computer. We checked online and saw that there were 4 available. When we get there, my daughter went to the service department to see if they could install the battery that we would purchase at MicroCenter. As she was speaking to one technician, another one (who at the time was assisting another customer) looked over and mentioned that my daughter's computer seemed to need more work than just a battery. But we told him we only needed the battery. I guess they felt that women need help with computers so maybe he felt the need to give his unsolicited advice. Anyway, we paid the 54.44 with my credit card and went elsewhere in the mall to wait for the service to get done (just to install a battery). About an hour or so later my daughter gets a text from the technician saying they could not perform the service since they don't have the battery in stock - which was untrue - but ok, she preferred to get her laptop back. She went back with my credit card to get the return for the service that was not performed. The technician at the desk mentioned that the card was not necessary and gave her a "return" receipt reflecting that $0 was charged for the service. Fast forward to May 20th and the charge is still on my card. Searched high a low for the MicroCenter customer service number that is almost impossible to find. It is a call center for the US stores. Explained what happened to the rep and was told that someone from the Yonkers' store would contact me. Get a text message from Franco and told him my situation. He noticed that the service was not performed and mentioned that all I needed to do was come into the store to get my refund because they need the physical card to do the refund. Huh? Weren't we told on the 2nd that we don't need it? He tried several times but it would not work. So now I'm disputing the charge with my credit card. Provided a screenshot of the entire text message from Franco to me and his attempts to reimburse me and his inability to do it without the physical card (mind you, I don't live in Yonkers, don't have a car and was just given a ride there so I can't get there to get my refund with my physical card). The charge was reversed while my credit card company investigated it. Then on June 11th, I noticed that I was re-charged the 54.44 and when I questioned it, the rep from my credit card company mentioned that they were told that there was no problem with the charge. So I opened up a whole new dispute and called the MicroCenter call center again, spoke to Joel and he said he would reach out to Yonkers for them to help me. That was at 10:30 this morning and now it's 3:00pm and no call. So I guess I'll have to keep disputing the charge. By the way, my daughter later purchased a battery from this same Yonkers office (the 4 batteries were still there) and installed it herself so I guess we really didn't need the guys to help us out. Recently while visiting this microcenter the battery in my car's key fob died. I calmly walked in, got a small precision screw driver and a battery and changed the battery. Total cost: $7 plus tax. I have come to appreciate this microcenter. I got a bundle last year or so with a mother board, chip and ram for an Amazing price. Check the web for the amd and Intel bundles when building a new PC. The ram was not playing nice and I was able to get rid of it on the secondary market, walk into a Queens location and buy the Ram of my choice for just a little more. The broker said go to the one address and the loading dock is located at totally different area of the building..if it wasn't for the young man that helped me to showing me where to go I'd be lost . Was really excited to come to Micro Center as I needed my computer fixed as they are close by and looked to be quite reputable. I am now so disappointed as i have been waiting for almost two weeks for a repair of a broken screen and really need this computer for work. Everyone is courteous but there is no urgency to get the work done and I feel I may have been better off going to a smaller operation where I may have received more immediate attention to my repair. Came to the micro center for the first time to upgrade my PC. Bought a CPU, GPU, Mobo, and ram for about 1.2k, which was slightly over budget but considering the equipment I was fine with it. When I went to turn it on, it would not turn on. Went in for diagnostic and all four parts needed to replaced, which I non-plussed about but it happens. Took it home and tried it out, the PC did turn on but it gave me frequent blue screens which probably would have been evident if they stress tested it at all. Went in a second time for diagnostic and lo and behold, ANOTHER faulty CPU. The only thing I got that was helpful was that I needed to reinstall windows. So having to make multiple 2-hour roundtrips, taking days off work since I need the PC for school, and the fact that there was a total of 5 faulty merchandise they sold me. The staff is always very helpful. I just recently had to have a lot of viruses removed from my computer. After signing in I didn't have to wait long before I was attended to. This location of MIcro Center (located in Yonkers, Westchester County, NY) is a pleasure to shop in. First off, they are easy to get to (they right off the interstate, and they have a huge parking deck that is never packed). Next up is their tremendous tech inventory. MC features just about any tech or computer product you could ever imagine from CPUs, to monitors, to peripherals, to accessories. Finally, the staff are super friendly and extremely knowledgeable... and knowledge is extremely important when it comes to computer assistance. The only annoying thing about this location is that, as of this review, they only have one Mac technician. I do know that hiring is tough these days, so I get it. But it did take over a week just to get a report back on my Mac repair. read more

My parents and I decided to stop by after the aftermath of the 2019 Black Friday. My dad, the techie was looking for a Raspbeery Pi for his setup at home while I was looking for an external hard drive for my PS4. The stores was eerily quiet for a Saturday after Black Friday but that maybe because of the snow and Thanksgiving travelers returning to their homes. We were helped by an associate that helped to sort through the aisles of electronics as the supply list stated they had the cables for the Pi but not one could be found. Meanwhile I had picked her brain on an external hard drive after seeing hard drives geared toward console games. I had appreciated her input with her brother and being honest that she had not used one yet and can't speak on it. She had suggested I speak with another associate and when I had asked him, he pretty much told me what I wanted to hear which didn't instill confidence in believing him. In this case honestly is the best policy. Over all Dad was pleased with what he got while I will continue pick and prod people's take on a hard drive for my PS4 before risking my valuable saved games.... read more

I miss this place since I moved upstate. This place has every brand, component, peripheral, in one place. The best part is the staff this very knowledgeable, Helpful, and even if you don't buy that minute they still answer your questions. They don't try to sell you something which is more than what you really need. They listen to you; while you explain what you want to do, your needs, and then recommend the appropriate item. So far they've never steered me wrong. If you're a DIY type this is like the old RadioShack on steroids. I've used the people at the knowledge bar many times and I've always gotten the right answer and if I had a problem they fixed it. The place is immaculate, well organized, they even have magazines and books. The knowledge advisor - Guillermo Monegro was patient answering my questions re: a new phone that wasn't an iPhone. Even printed out information regarding the model I was looking at. They have a website MicroCenter.com/survey. I rarely fill out these surveys. Complaints are ignored and when you find a good sales associate; I doubt they are ever commended when you write in about their outstanding service. I'll give it a try and see what happens. The repair was done adequately. However, the initial evaluation time was almost 4 days as opposed to the ~24 hours indicated by the service tech when I dropped it off. I had to call to find out if they had determined the problem, and it took ~12 hours to get back to me. After I authorized the repair, I received my one and only call from the Service Dept: I was assured that the parts were ordered via 2 day shipping, and that the repair would be done as soon as they arrived: that call came on Monday, July 17. I assumed that I would get a call by the end of the week that the computer was fixed, but no. Instead, I had to contact Micro Center yesterday, July 24, at which point I was informed that the computer was fixed and ready for pick-up! I HAD NEVER BEEN CONTACTED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS FIXED!!!!! Brendan and Hamza were very helpful in helping my 13 year old build a new computer and chose a monitor. They patiently explained all the options. When the computer was built, the store took the time to test it with him. Then when we got home and couldn't find a cord, Henry at the store called us and walked us through where to find the "missing cord" (in the box!), and how to connect the cables, optimize the monitor, and generally get the computer up and running. Slowest shipping I've ever experienced, ordered from them and Heusinkveld the same day within hours of each other. package from Heusinkveld made it from the Netherlands to being delivered in Michigan in 3 days! meanwhile my package I ordered from them still sets at their distribution center that is only 3.5 hours away from me. talked to their chat person yesterday and said it takes 1-3 days to ship, so seems to me like they take full advantage of their timeframe which also tells me customer service isn't a priority to this company, this will be my first and last order I ever place through microcenter!! I can see why your service ctr. has such a huge hate mail following on many websites like Yelp.com. After having my laptop in for 2 weeks and got NO feedback on my diagnostic I paid for, I decided to go to the service location in Yonkers to retrieve my laptop and found that without a satisfactory reason as to why i got NO messages about the status or condition of my laptop it was given back with No input or opinion by the technician, No Diagnostic printout showing my O/S, mainframe status and peripherals.  After questioning the Tech manager, he told me the diagnostic data on his testing equipment had been accidentally erased and he would have to do the diagnostic again and wanted me to wait. This tells me they never did it at all after 2 weeks and they have completely wasted my time, they were content to let me walk out of the service ctr. hoping I didn't know any better. YEAH RIGHT! I demanded a refund for the diagnostic I never got and walked out but not before I gave their store manager an ear full. Thanks for nothing!!! Your service technicians do nothing but extort your customers into a "Data buy back" scheme to sell you a 1TB drive of your files and folders for $ 150.00. Or a 2TB drive for $ 250.00 I'll never direct anyone to your stores. The only reason you guys are still in business is because Radio Shack no longer exists but I still live to see your company crash. read more

This was my first time visiting a Micro Center and I was not disappointed in their inventory or staff. If you've never been, its sort of like B&H but for computer equipment. I am kind of shocked by some of the negative reviews on here, but many of them have to do with post-purchase troubleshooting. My advice is to send your item directly back to a vendor like Apple rather than dealing with Micro Center which seems to have a pretty bad repair center. I will say any item I was not satisfied with I have been able to return. The first item I ever bought there was a motherboard that I mistakenly bent the pins on and while most stores would not accept this as a return the store manager did accept mine. As an avid PC builder and self-proclaimed tech nerd, Micro Center is like being a kid in a candy or toy store for me. They don't have every part and they don't even have the best prices, albeit they do price match, but they are really the only store that has a dedicated DYI computer parts section that ranges from water cooling to rows of cases. A couple of pros about Microcenter is that while you can't buy a lot of their items online, you can reserve them and pick them up at your local store. This saves a lot of time and headache just praying a store might have the part you need or trying to get the attention of a sales rep to pull an item for your in-store. Again Micro Center while not always having the lowest price will price match most major retailers but they do tend to have the lowest price for computers processors and if you pair it with a motherboard you can save even more. Very in-demand items like new release processors or video cards can't be reserved, but in this day and age where no store has any video cards, Micro Center constantly gets in shipments. I was able to score a graphics card at MSRP while places like Newegg and Amazon wanted $300+ more. Micro Center does limit how many GPUs you can buy to try and prevent scalping or even mining. I constantly go in since they do have an open box bin that has items that have been lightly used but have been discounted. All the reps are pretty knowledgeable and aren't going to steer you in the wrong direction If you ask them for advice since a lot of the employees are young tech lovers themselves. I never have used their repair services and I never have bought anything assembled by them, but I have heard rave reviews about their extended warranties since most of the time they will just replace the unit with a brand new unit or with one of similar value. read more

Very disorganized and incompetent service department. I purchased a $3000 laptop in Nov 2020. Less than 10 months after the purchase in August 2021 the laptop stopped working (black screen / won't turn on). Brought into micro center since they are a certified dell repair shop. Here is what happened. 1. Technician first tried to blame the problem on the power cable (The laptop still had 60% power). I rebuked his excuse and he was forced to diagnose the problem and wanted 2 days to trouble shoot it. 2. Two days later I got a call from technician saying that he is shipping the laptop to Dell for repairs. I was told I will get a status update after a week. 3. Two weeks later I still haven't heard back, I called and was told the laptop is still with Dell and I will get an email update about the status. 4. Another week goes by no email update. I called again then was told that they had just received the shipping box from Dell to ship out the laptop and will be shipping it out. This is after 3 weeks of my computer sitting in their shop without them taking any concrete action to do a warranty repair. When asked why I was told false information that wasted my time the the technician and the sales manager who I spoke with were totally clueless and just didn't care. Bottom line the people at MicroCenter basically don't care about customer service and won't stand behind any product they sell. Worse they will lie to you and feed you wrong information just to make a pass a buck or make a commission. Do yourself a favor and don't buy anything from these guys. They are scammers. If you ever want to feel worthless and insignificant I recommend you attempt to buy a MacBook Pro at this location. There is a sign that says "please wait here for PC and Apple assistance"; if you stand by that sign for a solid 15 minutes you'll see the employees ignore you and you'll see them helping everyone else, especially random people who are nowhere near the sign asking for and receiving assistance. The employees will walk by you and not acknowledge you until you decide to leave like I did. read more

The people here actually know what they are doing, which is nice considering places that I love to shop at (ie-Best Buy) have help that knows as much or less than I do. This place is Loaded with computer parts and tech for all your needs and plenty of accessories to choose from. They're far ahead of the game When it comes to tech. customer service is pretty good and I always get help when I'm shopping and looking for something in specific. However, I am very dissatisfied with the way the discounts go they do not offer any military discounts. The only law enforcement personnel honored is police and EMT. I have recommended other first responders who shop at the store and They share the same concerns as well. (Corrections, Courts, Fire,) etc. Prices are pretty reasonable mind you I've spent thousands of dollars in the store and I just feel as though they should at least have law-enforcement and military discount for all active personnel of course with a valid ID. To go out there and risk your life as a first responder is hectic enough. please at least show a little of appreciation for all the first responders and military personnel who shop in Micro Center. that's all I will include at this moment. overall it's a pretty good store I just wish that they consider all first responders and military personnel read more
