Went in today to pick up a couple of items and noticed the check out line went clear across the front of the store and down one isle. I picked up the two items and waited in line thinking the line may be moving quickly. Not!! They only had 3 check stands open and one on the side. I waited 25 minutes in line just to pay for my items. What a joke. A very poorly managed store. I never waited that long at Fry's ever. Fry's is where I'll be going next time. I also saw a Logitech wireless mouse that was selling for almost half the price at Walmart. I've been going to Micro Center for years now but I won't be going back. read more

The repair and support guys here rule. An HP laptop purchased during the black Friday sale period locked up the same evening that was the last of the 15 days when I could have gotten a refund. Upon entered the password, the message "RPC server not found" with an ok button that returned to the password prompt. HP's so-called tech support wanted to charge me money to diagnose and correct what they said was a Microsoft issue. This on a laptop wether they configured and preloaded Windows 10. The repair manager at Micro Center did some web research on the problem, and printed the instructions on how to reset Windows 10, even without access to the restore partition or equivalent. I followed the instructions,choosing the keep my data option. It even keep the password the same. Although reinstalling apps is a pain, out is the least objectionable and no cost to me other than a drive to the store. Micro Center employees do what they can within thier rules to keep customers coming back. Next time I will buy an Asus lap top, but from Micro Center of course. read more

Used to love this place, and I have spent a ton of money here. However, recent experiences have changed my mind. Took a failing computer in to see if there was a fix, they made it worse and then charged me a diagnostic fee. Okay, not a good business decision on their part, even so, I bought a new computer there to replace the broken one. However, yesterday made me cross them off my list of suppliers. I bought a JLab Bluetooth headset to use at the gym as a Christmas gift on November 28th, 2018, gifted it, finally set it up in mid January. It was $30, not the cheapest, not the most expensive. It worked about 5 or 6 times, then would not turn on or recharge. I figured no big deal, that happens, so I took it back to MicroCenter for a replacement. The return clerk seemed kind of new, he wanted to help but then had to call the Ops Manager, Jesse Berumen for approval. Jesse said no, their policy is 30 days, so no exchange, no refund. I asked to chat with Mr. Berumen, and I asked if Christmas returns wouldn't be a bit different from a typical purchase. Nope, 30 days. I asked if he wanted to jeopardize the business of a long (and I mean 15 or 20 years and tons of money) standing customer. Nope, 30 days. A business that is that hard core or does not give a manager the latitude to provide customer satisfaction, especially over such a small purchase (in fact, I had another item on the invoice that cost $90), either knows nothing about customer service, or is too thick to understand that the computer parts business is very competitive and online vendors will eat their lunch unless they can provide something that Amazon doesn't, and that is personalized, customer service and satisfaction. Mr. Berumen said I should just contact the manufacturer, which I may do, but the issue was not the $30, it was the willingness of Micro Center to piss off a customer over a few bucks because of a policy that was unreasonable given the circumstances, and over an item they could have sent back with no net cost to them, with the objective of satisfying a good customer. Not sure if it was Mr. Berumen who was confused, or corporate policy, which does not give him the flexibility to use his head to save the business, but it is clear someone needs to read a book about customer service. I notice that Micro Center has been getting a lot of one star evaluations, that suggests to me that they need some training and a new look at corporate culture. The reality is whenever I shopped at Microcenter in the past, I would go for one thing and end up with two or three other items I noticed walking through the aisles, and I am sure that would have happened yesterday if I had not been burned by "policy." Sorry Micro Center, you lost this customer, I shared my experience with corporate, and I may share this tale on other social media sites. All for stiffing me on a $30 nothing item, and more importantly for having a rigid policy that made me feel supremely unappreciated. Buh bye! read more

Great place to buy computer component. I recently went to Micro Center to purchase components for my custom built. I purchase the CoolerMaster 130 Case but the manufacture fail to include screw and other accessory. I went back to Micro Center and told them the case I recently purchase was missing screws, so they took screws out of a brand new case and give them to me. Really good customer service, I've purchase my last 5 computer built from Micro Center, they got pretty good deals on Processor and motherboard combo. read more

This store doesn't honor general Microcenter sales. They'll tell you that they have the item that you're looking for at the online sale price, but when you arrive they'll deny it and try to sell you the item at a much higher cost. They've also claimed that they'd price match other retailers, but again, deny that in-store. Summary: This store doesn't honor the processor and processor/motherboard deals that every other Microcenter in the US does. Don't go here expecting to get those deals. Perhaps the prices are good, but you don't ever want to have to deal with service. I visit the Irvine, California store and have had nothing but trouble. Tonight I got to spent 47 minutes on hold and was not able to find out a thing about my computer which is in for repair. I was suppose to hear from the tech by Tuesday, not this week but last week after I dropped it off on Saturday almost two weeks ago. I followed up last Thursday with the Tech 800 number and they said they knew nothing but would send an email to the tech at the store to follow up with me last week, but nothing, no call, no email. I tried to follow up online and got nothing. I had called numerous times to the store and they just won't answer the phone, so tonight I let it ring and ring for a really long time. Then a poor guy Jordan answered and said they were too busy at the tech desk to even check so I asked to speak to a manager. Back on hold, then he came back to tell me the manager was too busy to take my call but she had checked and the tech was looking at my computer now and would call in the morning. Yeah right, I insisted to speak to a manager, her name is Claudia, he put me on hold again but returned and said she refused to take the call, and there was no way she would help me. No one but the poor PBX operator/ warehouse guy will speak to me and finally he said the manager said I could call corporate at 614-850-3675 if I didn't like the service to complain there. 47:19 minutes on hold, computer gone two weeks and no word, and OH the corporate office is closed right now.HAHA Good thing I bought the year service plan, I am going to need it. And this is the second computer because the first one I had in every three months broken, with the same terrible service, finally after the third time I insisted some kind of lemon law replacement. Each time they would have the computer for at least two weeks. If I could do it all over I would have bought somewhere else but that is not the option now. read more

I've been coming here for a while but on my last visit the quality of service was less than I expected. It was very difficult to get help from anyone and once I did find a sales person, we were in the middle of a question I had and he disappeared to ask another employee and then forgot about me. I had to track him down to remind him so I guess they were just busy or something? I made a purchase of what seemed like a good deal, but be sure to read the fine print because the sale price was actually a mail in rebate, so expect to pay the full price at the register. Found out about this store through a friend and joined him on one of his treks up there. The store isn't flashy in anyway so unless you know about it you might just pass it thinking it's some kind of office building. On the inside though it seems like nerd heaven, they've got an alright selection, not as big as the Fry's I go to, but they are focused on computers rather than the various things Fry's is. The customer service is okay for the most part, although they could rush to open checkout lines when there's more than 8 people in line. Checkout was the only major ding I can give them. A minor ding was the distance, we were coming from Oceanside to Tustin, so drive time was taken into account. Micro Center was okay, but if given a choice and distance wasn't a factor I'd rather go to Fry's. read more

So I purchased a bunch of parts a built a beast custom pc. The guy who sold me them was Pony and he was knowledgable and made good recommendations. It was my first time building a pc, so I experienced some minor set backs. Motherboard came DoA so I had to make a trip back, 30minutes. And when I came back Wayne and his associate, I think his name was Jedida. We're surprisingly friendly and wanted to help me, this is good customer service. I work in the hospitality industry and they made me feel valued. All in all aside from my moot set back, I'd recommend this to others. read more

This place has everything and I enjoy it better than Fry's. HOWEVER- a) Customer service is hit and miss. If you're buying a PC the sales people are very attentive and friendly (commission, I guess). If you're in the parts department it's easy to be ignored. AND THE CHECKOUT LINE IS RIDICULOUS. 2 CASHIERS? b) The other thing is they never answer the freaking phone. I was calling to confirm a part was in stock, endless waiting and no one ever picks up. I love this microcenter. I have always been a fan of brick and mortar computer stores and this place is the best. I have built a computer at their location and it was a painless experience. I am blown away by their knowledge of computer hardware, I am definitely a computer hobbiest, so I know when people dont know what they are talking about. I will always buy my hardware from this store, as long as they have the high end parts that I am looking for. The reason for this review is I have spent a long time researching computer monitors and I went into the store and Malaki helped me pick a great monitor for gaming at a great price. Their Promo Code numbers did not work and no one answers their customer service lines when I tried to connect. The wait time to connect took so long I gave up and went to another site. I usually don't write reviews, unless they have great service or very poor service. Microcenter closed the store in Northern California. My goal was to build a couple fully loaded test machines in a lab to test the performance difference for the applications I needed before investing into more machines from Micro Center. I visited their Tustin store on July 11th. I walk in; they are friendly and directed me to the computer parts section. The staff dress professionally and the store is organized. Salesperson walks up and asks, "Can I help you?" I asked if there were any testing or customer reviews on the 6700k or 6800k. He told me you could overclock both chips, and I guess he didn't know. This is when it begins to go bad. I asked for the price of the 6700K because the price display was missing, and I was told it was $309.00. I said I called Thursday, and it was $289.00, and I came from the bay area. My mistake I didn't take the name. It gets better the stock person (young kid) bringing in more chips says on-line they are selling it for $350.00. I told him a couple of the on-line stores when they have sales every few weeks dropped the price to $309.00 with free returns. I said I found one major online store had the chip for sale $309.99 (I compared prices with only authorized Intel dealers to be fair) before any other discounts. *This is the reason for one star or zero.* I expected them to tell me that Micro Center is better than online dealers and ask what I needed. I guess the sales, and stock personnel are friends because they started a personal conversation between them. I am still standing there trying to buy a CPU, motherboard, RAM, video card and SSD. My friend wanted to call the manager, but I said that was ridiculous because anyone I recommend would need a manager to get the proper sales and support. I hope their management reads these comments and trains their staff. I encourage hiring young people, but they need training. Train them to get assistance if they don't know the answer. I encourage collaboration between employees, but not when a customer is waiting. Train the sales personnel to find out what the customer needs and asks the simple question "is there anything else I can help you with?" I finally bought my two machines from an online dealer whom the staff did ask the right questions at a comparable price to Micro Center (I won't say beat because I could never find a anyone to work with at Micro Center). I will try them again when Intel releases a new series, but for one now, myself and my business associates can skip the headaches. read more

This. is. the. WORST. place. in the world. There was a huge line at 7pm on Saturday. When we asked if we could put our product on hold and come back tomorrow so we wouldn't miss our dinner reservations, the customer service guy instead asked the guy at the register if we could cut in line! Which is NOT what we wanted! Of course the register guy gets upset saying everyone has to stand in line, and keeps repeating himself, until we just get frustrated and leave. When you try to call their phone number, it gives you number options to press but when you press it, it says "invalid option." On ALL numbers. So annoyed. And feel like my time was wasted. read more

I went to purchase an SD card reader today. An associate helped me find what I was looking for and put their commission tag on it. After I made my purchase, I asked to use the restroom. The cashier directed me to where the restroom was, but when I got there it was closed off with a sign that said it was out of service. I asked another associate for help as I really needed to go urgently. The called a manager and he told me I had to go somewhere else due to a plumbing issue in the men's restroom. I explained to the manager that I was in urgent need and asked to use the employee restroom. He refused to even make eye contact with me and told me again that I needed to go elsewhere. He then just walked away without apology and ignored my plea for help. The associates are generally nice, but the management here is horrendous. I can only imagine what would happen if there was an actual medical emergency. The manager would probably tell you to go die somewhere else. read more

My daughter had her heart set on a specific Jansport rolling backpack. I looked high and low for it. It was so hard to find cause that certain backpack print had been discontinued. I found one at one of those luggage stores at the mall for $110! I found the same back pack at Micro Center for $20.97! You read that right, an almost $90 difference. But it wasn't available at the Tustin store. Only in Missouri and Brooklyn. I spoke with Leticia the manager at Tustin and asked if the backpack could be transferred. She worked hard with the Brooklyn store and got it done. I paid $17 shipping to have it 2 day air. I didn't know ground shipping ($13) would get here in time for school. Leticia was so helpful and called me as soon as the backpack came in. $40.91 out the door for a backpack I was originally going to pay $110 plus tax for. So happy I found it at Micro Center. And so thankful for the wonderful customer service I was provided! read more

Then when I go in to buy a graphics card they accuse me of being a miner or something like that and start questioning me like a thief. Look i just spent $4,000 on computer equipment at your store. I don't expect to be treated like a criminal just because I'm trying to buy a video card that you didn't have in stock for my computer I bought from your store. If you want to be abused and accosted for being a loyal shopper of 20 years and big spender at a store, go to Micro Center in Tustin, CA. I love the prices here but the customer service sucks. I purchased the Mac book replacement battery they carry with dr battery. It didn't last very long for me and I got it checked out at the apple Genius Bar. Tried to return or replace the battery because it hasn't been a year and the guy on the counter advised me to contact the manufacturer directly. So i did and the manufacturer told me microcenter would have to process the RMA...it went all downhill from then on for me with Microcenter. Called microcenter tech support and was put on hold for quite a while and they confirmed what dr battery had said. I had the Black Friday off so I decided to use that day to go microcenter and try to return the battery one more time and the place was packed. They only had one line to get in store for everything. I couldn't even get in to process just a return. Spoke to the lady at the door and the manager and they were unable to accommodate my request, I refuse to wait an hour or so just the return an item. When I asked about the issues, he accused me of wrong doing while I provided proof it wasn't legit. Beware of this place. I am reseller and spent at least $50k yr there for the last 8 years and I will never go back because of Joel. You can look him up online, there are several similar complaints. He has removed his LinkedIn profile because of all the complaints they are getting. He should he fired. The fact that the store is condoning this means they are guilty as well and should not be supported. Because of Khiem Riddell Micro Center (Tustin, CA) has a customer for life. I had made my purchase thru the Micro Center site in advance. I drove 40 minutes to Tustin for pickup. When I get thru the line, I am greeted by Khiem. As a manager he took the initiative to thank me for my business and offer any assistance during the sale of my purchase. With a smile under his surgical mask (taking serious the precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19) he provides me a company card with the General Manager's name and said "If there's anything I can do for you please let me know". I thanked him for his kind approach. Now it so happened that I was truly pressed for time. I needed to log on to our congregation meeting in the late afternoon. I took my box not really thinking about what was inside. Hindsight, I should have opened the box in the parking lot to assure what exactly I purchased. But what I did instead was make the drive back home confident that I would be able to utilize my purchase to log on to our congregation meeting thru video conference. When I opened the box ... I was perturbed, then disturbed, and finally upset as any imperfect human being would be. I was not given my purchase but in fact a completely different device. I was less than 2 hours from our important congregation meeting. My first impulse was to go back. So that's what I did. With my supportive and beautiful wife I drove back another 40 mins. Upon entering Micro Center the line for exchanges was extremely long. I just couldn't wait that long. To my surprise Khiem was walking down the aisle and I flagged him over. I explained to him my situation and dilemma. It was close an hour to my very important religious meeting. Khiem asked for my receipt. He took the box. And in less than 5 minutes he had me out of Micro Center with sufficient time to make my congregation meeting. I am so grateful to Khiem! Khiem came thru with his promise of helping me. I am impelled to apply to Khiem what Ephesians 4:25 says... "Therefore, now that you have put away deceit, each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members belonging to one another." Khiem spoke the truth. He did not treat me just like a customer but like a friend (or brother, fellow man) in distress (Proverbs 17:17). Thank you Khiem! Thank you for your kindness! Thank you for your help! Do NOT come to this store as they do NOT follow social distancing rules or limit the amount of customers in the store. The store opened at 11 and I arrived at 11:15.....the parking lot was FULL with no line outside because they allowed everyone to go in. Each section was filled with customers waiting for help because management did not take the proper customer limitation procedures and did not have enough employees to assist everyone. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, if they limited the amount of customers inside the store, the employees could more smoothly and efficiently help out guests. THIS is the worst part....The actual line to check out was wrapped around the store where everyone was standing less than one foot apart with no regards to social distancing. Absolutely ridiculous. If I wanted to willingly catch COVID-19, I would come to THIS store because they care more about making their $ than the safety of their customers AND employees. It actually boggles my mind how they're allowed to run this business like this. For foundational purposes I want to share the following before I write my review: 1) I have never submitted a Yelp review 2) I have always viewed vitriolic reviews as reviews coming from people that were trying to get away with something and failed 3) I am a public safety manager in Southern California with a large agency. I was referred to Micro Center by my employees who visit the store several times a month. My employees swear by Micro Center and were disappointed to hear this review 4) Before I prepared this review I called James A. (The person identified in Yelp as the Business Owner) and shared my experience at the Tustin store with him. My hope was to get some resolve. I did this because I don't believe surprising someone is fair, and I believed the right thing to do would be to give him an opportunity to provide a remedy before I wrote a negative review and retained council I will bullet point this review for ease of following: - Aug 11, Mac working fabulous, update Apple OS and receive error message "SMART Disk Error", I reboot and folder with question mark appears. - Aug 12, I bring Mac to Micro Center, explain above, and pay $40 to have problem diagnosed - Aug 13, mid afternoon, Technician Mark G. calls me and says my hard drive went out. $140 to replace. This is consistent with what Mac representative shared with me was likely the cause of the error message. I agree to the repairs and the cost Aug 13, early evening, I check status of my repair online, message reads in bold, capital letters with explanation point READY FOR PICK UP! I drive 45 miles from my office to pick up, very polite person at customer service desk tells me the computer isn't quite ready, but will be in 20 mins. I shop for 10 mins and return to customer service desk, polite (but nervous person) tell me the Mac is almost ready, the tech is just putting the back on it. 5 mins later nervous polite young man returns and says it may be a bit longer, the new hard drive crashed at it may have damaged your motherboard. I asked if I should stick around or come back (even though it would have been an 80 mile turnaround), the young man said you could stay if you like, but it may be a minute, might be best if you come back. His uncertainty led me to believe I would be waiting for quite some time, so I decided to return to work and come back the following day. - Aug 14, I receive a call from Mark G. stating the motherboard in the Mac caused the brand new hard drive he installed to crash and a second one to crash as well. Here's the best part, he added that he WASNT GOING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE TWO DAMAGED HARD DRIVES!! WHAT?!?! He added that my original cost of $40 (diagnoses) + $140 (hard drive) just went up another $700 (new motherboard). How did we go from my Mac being ready for pick up at $140 to its not ready and it will cost almost $900, but that's a deal because we're not going to charge you for the two hard drives your computer broke.....Can't make this stuff up folks! In closing, Micro Center wanted to charge me $900 to repair a problem they originally diagnosed as a hard drive failure costing only $140 and told me was ready to be picked up. In my opinion, one of two things happend here, we either have a bait/switch (tell customer the repair only costs X, when customer comes to pick up, tell them more is wrong with unit and charge more), or Micro Center damaged my computer and is committing fraud by not accepting responsibility after damaging my Mac and making it appear the motherboard was damaged brought it in (even though they didn't tell me that, or include in my estimate). Sadly, the best remedy Micro Center could come up with was to comp me the labor costs for installing a new motherboard I didn't need in the first place. Make sure you do your research ahead of time. They say they price match, but there is a caveat. Apparently they can't compete with Costco online pricing so will not price match. I bought 3 computers for employees on Saturday. Sunday I saw that Costco was advertising them for $50 less per computer ($150 to me), so Monday afternoon I went in to get a price adjustment thinking it would be no big deal since it was a manufacturer rebate and they just weren't passing on the whole thing. When I went in I was told they don't price match Costco since it's a membership club. In other words, Costco makes a little extra money on memberships so their prices are better than ours. So then I had to buy the computers from Costco, and then go grab the 3 I bought from Micro Center to return. Turned into a hassle when they could have had a great, local customer by just offering the customer service they advertise. Another win for Costco... read more
