At long last Micro Center returns to Silicon Valley! How can we call ourselves the tech capital of the US without a Micro Center? The Good: lots of keyboards on display, and even some niche brands like Keychron or Glorious. Definitely catering to the modern day gamer/streamer. Not as much console gear. The Bad: Return policy is a bit shorter than others, and some of the employees don't seem that knowledgeable about the goods sold. Regular PC gear selection a bit lacking, but its the best they can fit in a retail store. The only reason I haven't bought from them is because I already have all the gear I need. Also, special kudos to them for investigating the RTX supplier issue after a customer found their graphics card purchase to be missing. Buy with confidence here! read more

I brought in my laptop for repair due to a malfunctioning built-in monitor. The device itself worked perfectly when connected to an external display. I informed the technician that the monitor was flashing a pattern of 7 white and 2 yellow lights, which typically indicates a monitor error. However, the initial diagnostic report inaccurately stated that the screen was displaying green lines--something I never observed or mentioned. After a week, I was told the repair cost would be too high, so I opted to retrieve the laptop and continue using it with a second monitor. Unfortunately, upon pickup, the laptop no longer powered on at all. I returned to the repair center to address this issue, but the staff was dismissive and unhelpful. Their explanation was that the motherboard must have failed after I picked it up, which felt like a convenient deflection rather than a genuine investigation. Throughout the process, the technician showed little empathy or professionalism, and I left feeling frustrated and unsupported. I expected better communication and accountability from a service provider entrusted with my device. read more

Micro Center has a lot of cool stuff--def fun to browse even if I didn't end up finding what I came for. Tons of gadgets, tech toys, accessories, etc. Some neat things for kids too, but overall not super kid-friendly in terms of setup or vibe. The store layout was confusing--felt like I was just wandering around trying to find things with not much signage to help. Not super intuitive. What really brought the rating down for me was the staff. Got approached while I was browsing when I didn't really need help, and then when I did ask questions, the info I got was either wrong or not helpful at all. Later stood in line at the IT/service area, and the people at the desk were just plain rude when my husband asked for assistance. Kinda frustrating. Prices were alright, but the item I wanted wasn't in stock. Still, I enjoyed looking around and would go back--hoping for a better experience next time. read more

I went to parking lot on the grand opening . It was insanely overcrowded no parking as a massive crowd was gathered for the ribbon cutting - whatsoever so I had lunch across the street and came back so the traffic died down a little . Scored a scrunched up spot in the back side of the shopping center next to the Bank of America atm kiosk. From the moment entering it was like going thru a Time Machine to the 90s 2000s of a brick and mortar electronics store . Total FRYS electronics vibe RIP Fry's by the way . This place had everything you need except video games which was odd. The prices are fair too. Just outside the entry door was a huge stack of boxed MICROCENTER coffee mugs which was paper labeled free take one. I got mine since I didn't buy anything and drove all the way from SR. No cafe or magazine section like fry's but everything else resembled it. I glad this opened and will not mind the drive . It is clean and super organized. Management is doing a great job can't believe how they hired these many people and can stay competitive with Amazon and online. Christmas time is gonna be nuts here for sure. Love the idea of mini frys open in the area, actually bought few things when they opened up. Ordered mac mini pro that they had open box they said it was thoroughly tested, paid for it, opened the box while in store and it's a cracked case, the case it self had marks of being opened and messed with, I went back to the cashier and showed her and she said they must of mixed it, it's impossible to miss a cracked case, and then another employee behind the scenes said or it's that one. They could've notified me and gave me a heads up before showing up. Of course they accepted return no questions asked. But seriously I doubt that thing would even turn on it's beaten up so bad, and I doubt it has original parts. I'm sure no one tested it or turned it on. read more

Shout out to Jerrod L for spectacular customer service. I came in for the first time overwhelmed by the size and the amount of people in the store. I only needed a gift card and was able to get one at the register for online orders. The other line was crazy long but it seemed to be moving pretty fast. The line I was in was not moving so fast but there was only 2 people ahead of me so it wasn't too bad. The transaction went quickly. I went to MicroCenter shopping for a RTX 5090 GPU. The sales guy there apparently was trying to use scare tactics to lure me to buy a returned GPU of a different brand. He said that 30% + of "new" GPUs they sell were untested and WILL fail. The "returned" product has been tested and it was known to be good. Really ? When I talked to another sales guy about getting new one, he said the 5090 GPU had known overheating problems which was not covered by the standard warranty and I must buy their extended warranty. I have been building my own PC for many years. These low level scare tactics would just discourage me from even buying from Microcenter. I love this place which reminds me of my favorite Fry's electronics. But please be honest when you are trying to make a sale to customers read more

I wish I could speak of a more pleasant experience, but unfortunately my expectations were totally let down. Like many, I came to micro center for their very appealing bundle deals. I came initially for a Ryzen 7 7600 bundle with its respective motherboard and RAM. I was browsing the store when an associate came to help me; he very helpful and recommended another bundle that had virtually the same performance for a little cheaper. It was for a newer Ryzen 5 9600x. When checking out I did not know the bundle price at the time because I was initially going for another one, but I was confident that I was getting a better bang for buck. So the associate bundles all my things and brings them up to the checkout counter, where I later go and pay. The final price came out to about $480 after tax. I was a little startled, but I thought that since I had chosen another package, I knew it would be a different price so I just decided to go with it anyway. Later that day I installed all the components on my computer and just out of curiosity I decided to browse that specific bundle and it turns out that that bundle cost about 299 before tax. At that point, I was shocked to learn that I had paid almost $200 more. I was really curious as to why I did not receive the bundle deal and decided to go to the store. Upon talking to another associate at the checkout counter, he pointed out to me something that I had not realized. The bundle deal only comes with ONE STICK OF RAM. Since the associate who helped me out in the beginning chose a ram with two sticks (obviously what you need because who runs a computer with one stick of RAM), it disqualified the bundle deal. Even the associate who helped me after I returned admitted that you need two sticks of RAM (OBVIOUSLY); he said that unfortunately it did not qualify because I got two sticks around that totally 32 gbs. At this point, I had already installed everything on my computer. But even if I was to return the Ram sticks so I can acquire the bundle I would only be receiving one stick of 16 GB RAM. To me that just sounded ridiculous because why would they include one stick of ram in the first place? I cannot blame the associate who helped me first because anyone with decent computer knowledge knows to grab two! Overall, the main reason I was unsatisfied with was because I drove a long ways to come to the store specifically for the bundles but if I knew I was going to pay full price anyway I would've just gone to my local Best Buy or something. All in all the stores are really nice place to shop, but unfortunately, because of this experience, it led me to write this review. read more

As a first timer to Micro Center I hope the staff doesn't expect everyone to know everything. We ask this huge dude about GPU Bracket location and shortly, looks like his frustration working on a Saturday shows immediately . Clearly by the tone of his voice, he's lashing it out on us and doesn't even know where we can find what we're after. If this is already too much for you, how will you be able to deal with more complicated things? Frys can definitely do better sorry. read more

HUGE Disappointment! What timing! Grand opening right when I needed to build multiple work stations for my company. I went in and saw a huge line to get parts, was a bit worried about it but stood in line to get help from their salesmen. I stood in line for about 30 minutes and was finally at the front and let them know I needed to build 3 computers and told them all the items I would like, the guy at the front in a suit tells the salesman and said it should be no problem and yes he knows it's three cards and processors and confirms this three times. When the salesman came by to help me pickup the parts he had his trainee do all the work and learn the ropes and held his hand while he looked up the parts I wanted as well as very strongly urge on selling their Microcenter branded items vs the name brand items I wanted. We got everything together and was even told they had founders edition 5070 cards in stock, I said great, we put together three new Intel systems with 5070's picked all the parts into the cart and went up to the front counter where they were putting my name on the items they had to take to the front which was the higher money items. When the salesman trainer butts in and condescendingly asks his trainee what he's doing and that's when the upselling to extended warranty begins. The trainer takes over and tells me, "we aren't sure that we can sell you three video cards and three processors unless you help us out by buying our extended service plans for each item." I smile and politely decline again for the third time as he uses tactics like stating how they don't make any money off anything and how I'm sucking them dry etc etc. Mind you it would come out to $600 more for these extended warranties. He pretends to go out and talk to a manager which had already told me it would be no problem to sell me these items. Comes back and says "unfortunately I can't sell you all these video cards or processors, I can probably change their mind if you buy our warranty but I can only have you walk out of here with one today" I looked at him bewildered and asked why they would waste my time and spend an hour with me pulling all the parts and collecting everything in my cart only to play these games. At that point I told him I would not be purchasing anything, he says that he can bring the manager over and we can talk about it and maybe change things. I told him I'm not here to play salesmen games but I'll go ahead and put all the components back on the shelves which I proceeded to do. I walked out and drove directly to Central Computers where they don't have these types of commission based salesmen. I did the same thing, asked if I would be able to purchase three of everything and without any problems we got all the parts together and they even walked everything out to my car. TLDR: bait and switch on purchasing 3 Intel 265k and 3 rtx5070's, commission based salesman changed his mind when I wouldn't pay $600 more for Microcenter Extended Warranty and took the parts from me saying he would only sell me 1 of each unless I purchased the extended warranty. Wasted 2hrs having them try to upsell me as well as pick the parts. Left empty handed, but went to Central Computers where they appreciated me and even helped me to my car. Pretty lousy experience that I can't even say are grand opening jitters... these are hand picked trainers they paid to be up here from other Microcenter stores and this is how they are teaching their new guys up here. I've already shared my story on social media and Microcenter has reached out but doubt anything will come of it. I'll make sure to continue sharing this experience so that others know the service here is like entering a small used car dealership with sleazy salesmen. read more

Today was a soft opening, yet there was a ton of people there and there had to be crowd control to let people inside in small groups. First, there was a lot of computer hardware and software to choose from, gaming accessories were plentiful, they also had phone accessories and blank media and A/V cables. However, I didn't see their HDTV, theater and audio setup anywhere. That's what was drawing me here. I couldn't really shop at my pace because of such a huge crowd in each and every aisle. Parking was nearly impossible and not many people respected the handicap parking spaces are only for people with placards. I may return once the crowds die down and be able to give a more detailed review. read more

What an absolute dump. I've been in the bay area for a long time, even when the OG microcenter was around and FRY's was scattered about the bay. I went here for my first time, been waiting awhile and really excited to have a large computer/electronics store to be back in the bay. This plase is a total dump The computer parts are all over the place, discheveled, not labeled or oraganized. Their motherboards are all up high on racks with no labeling or pricing, many behind contruction tape. There are carts and boxes all over the place and blocked aisles.... MITX boards are scattered about couldn't even tell what they had. Their cases are on top of large holed wired mesh racks so they're all tilting and a mess like the leaning tower of piza. No one helped me either for 20 minutes. No question. No one approached. Young associates standing around with other associates talking about their cars or how some other guy quit. I will NEVER go back. Central Computer is my go too still locally then if online fails me And their bundles only have ATX Motherboards. No consideration for MITX or MATX. Waste of time. read more

Micro Center - 5080 build - Electronics Near Me - Santa Clara, California

Very complete computer store. Floor staff we talked to were knowledgeable and friendly but not pushy. We ordered a hard drive on line for in store pickup and it was ready within 15 minutes. Prices competitive with Amazon. I wanted to test drive a mouse, but they're locked down on short tethers so you can't really test them for fit. The search function on the web site is as bad as Home Depot's or Newegg's. It doesn't find many of their SKUs, and fills the space with unrelated junk. You have to use the category menus instead. read more

Being a biracial couple and feeling followed around the store made our shopping experience very unpleasant and uncomfortable. We ultimately chose to leave because of the situation. Employees should be better trained so customers feel welcome and not targeted while shopping. read more

I was waiting in line for help at the pc builder kiosk to retrieve an SSD for about 10 minutes. Decided to order the part online while I was in store and go through in-store pickup instead. Asked Neel D. at the register if he could help. Told me I was "cutting in line" and that there were thousands of orders needed to be fulfilled even though I had ordered the part online and was there. Was rude and did not want to help me until a manager came to assist and retrieve the part. It took less than 1 minute to find the part and bring it to the counter to pay. Neel D. then tried to scold me after paying telling me how I was cutting in line and to not do this again. Do what again? Pay online and pick up at the in store pickup in 5 minutes instead of waiting 30 minutes for assistance and waiting in line for another 15 to pay? Yeah, let's just waste everyone's time right? read more

Lots of inexperienced builders on the floor--fine for basic builds, but useless for unique or value-focused recommendations. They mostly just pitch whatever's on sale. Return policy looks simple, but I got conflicting return dates for the same 480Hz monitor, and when I tried returning it, the cashier said the UPC/SKU/lot/serial number didn't match--I don't even remember which one. Turns out they'd just written the wrong one down, but eventually sorted it out and confirmed it was the correct product. I actually liked the 480Hz monitor, but it runs extremely hot--after a few hours it's like sitting in a tanning booth. Later bought a used 4K 240Hz monitor and found a broken DVI cable in the box. Didn't bother returning, just paid $40 for a new one. For reselling used items, be wary--they clearly don't check all the pieces and parts. That said, I highly recommend the 4K 240Hz monitor (PG27UCDM)--it's been solid. read more

Basil helped me with my RTX 5090 and was just amazing. All the staff are very good and I keep going back for more parts. Yousuf, Mark and Nick Colton are super helpful in the computer department. Even the manager Joseph was incredibly helpful when I was making some adjustments to my purchase. Great customer service and a fantastic selection of parts. I go to this store often just to take in a lot of the options. Definitely one of my favorite electronics places to go to if I'm shopping for a PC upgrade. Giving one star for the Tech service / PC Builders at Micro Center in Santa Clara. If I could give a negative review, I would definitely do so. I went with my partner today to drop off his PC at Micro Center to get a general diagnostic. He was experiencing a blue screen and his PC crashing last night, so we thought bringing it to Micro Center today would be a good idea to get a full diagnostic. Micro Center offers a $50 diagnostic, so we set an appointment at 10:40 a.m. today, we got there at 10:30 in case there was a line, but luckily, we were the only ones there. This guy, Shaun, immediately checked us in and talked us through getting a Priority Care Plus. He said we are getting a great deal by having this as it includes a full diagnostic, tune-up, updates, etc. So we thought that sounded great! We paid $150 for this Priority Care Plus (3x more than we anticipated to pay in the beginning). After the check-in, Shaun mentioned there were four computers in front of us, but he can certainly take a look at my partner's PC now and see what's going on. I've asked if he has an estimate on how long it will take so we can figure out if my partner and I should wait at Micro Center or get lunch nearby, but Shaun confidently said it should not take that long and they will text or call us about the status. So we said, great and we left Micro Center around 11 to get lunch, hours passed by, and no word from them, no follow-up, no text or call, nothing... so we went back to Micro Center around 3 p.m. and saw the line and waitlist on their screen had names in it, so we figured they might be busy (by this time, I wish I had insisted on talking to someone). We gave them the benefit of the doubt that they might be short-staffed (even though there were literally 9 people there standing chit-chatting and not doing anything, but still gave them the benefit of the doubt). Instead, we went to the car, sat down, and waited there for hours. Now it's 7pm and this is now getting absurd. Still no text, no calls, no emails or follow-ups from the service dept. 7:20 p.m. we finally got a chance to talk to someone named Chase. Shout out to him; he helped us end our miserable long waiting hours. He managed to get us the PC back at 8:55 p.m., 5 minutes before Micro Center closed. Our appointment is at 10:40am and we got the PC back 10hours later?!! I mean, I'm no IT or anything but this is simple general diagnostic that should only take 45-1hr but 10 hours?? What are we talking about here!!! This is ridiculous as we had to cancel our dinner plans with family and had to rush back to our dog all the way to Fremont. It's absurd how much disrespectful this is and they absolutely did not care about our time!! We thought that the other benefit of getting the Priority Care Plus is to get us in "priority lane," but I guess not. So don't waste your money on paying triple if nothing major is wrong with your computer. I am in disbelief that we have wasted our Saturday waiting, waiting for someone to tell us the status of the "general PC checkup." If someone just sent us a text and made us aware that they will take all day, we could've planned our day more. Thanks, Chase, for getting us out of the door, and I will definitely not recommend Micro Center Santa Clara Tech Staff to anyone. read more

Love this reopened store. Excellent selection, helpful salespeople. Returns take a little bit of time because they are careful to check that returned items are in good condition. but I think that's totally fair and in the end I got all my money back.
