Today was a soft opening, yet there was a ton of people there and there had to be crowd control to let people inside in small groups. First, there was a lot of computer hardware and software to choose from, gaming accessories were plentiful, they also had phone accessories and blank media and A/V cables. However, I didn't see their HDTV, theater and audio setup anywhere. That's what was drawing me here. I couldn't really shop at my pace because of such a huge crowd in each and every aisle. Parking was nearly impossible and not many people respected the handicap parking spaces are only for people with placards. I was waiting in line for help at the pc builder kiosk to retrieve an SSD for about 10 minutes. Decided to order the part online while I was in store and go through in-store pickup instead. Asked Neel D. at the register if he could help. Told me I was "cutting in line" and that there were thousands of orders needed to be fulfilled even though I had ordered the part online and was there. Was rude and did not want to help me until a manager came to assist and retrieve the part. It took less than 1 minute to find the part and bring it to the counter to pay. Neel D. then tried to scold me after paying telling me how I was cutting in line and to not do this again. Do what again? Pay online and pick up at the in store pickup in 5 minutes instead of waiting 30 minutes for assistance and waiting in line for another 15 to pay? Yeah, let's just waste everyone's time right? read more

Lots of inexperienced builders on the floor--fine for basic builds, but useless for unique or value-focused recommendations. They mostly just pitch whatever's on sale. Return policy looks simple, but I got conflicting return dates for the same 480Hz monitor, and when I tried returning it, the cashier said the UPC/SKU/lot/serial number didn't match--I don't even remember which one. Turns out they'd just written the wrong one down, but eventually sorted it out and confirmed it was the correct product. I actually liked the 480Hz monitor, but it runs extremely hot--after a few hours it's like sitting in a tanning booth. Later bought a used 4K 240Hz monitor and found a broken DVI cable in the box. Didn't bother returning, just paid $40 for a new one. For reselling used items, be wary--they clearly don't check all the pieces and parts. That said, I highly recommend the 4K 240Hz monitor (PG27UCDM)--it's been solid. read more

Basil helped me with my RTX 5090 and was just amazing. All the staff are very good and I keep going back for more parts. Yousuf, Mark and Nick Colton are super helpful in the computer department. Even the manager Joseph was incredibly helpful when I was making some adjustments to my purchase. Great customer service and a fantastic selection of parts. I go to this store often just to take in a lot of the options. Definitely one of my favorite electronics places to go to if I'm shopping for a PC upgrade. Giving one star for the Tech service / PC Builders at Micro Center in Santa Clara. If I could give a negative review, I would definitely do so. I went with my partner today to drop off his PC at Micro Center to get a general diagnostic. He was experiencing a blue screen and his PC crashing last night, so we thought bringing it to Micro Center today would be a good idea to get a full diagnostic. Micro Center offers a $50 diagnostic, so we set an appointment at 10:40 a.m. today, we got there at 10:30 in case there was a line, but luckily, we were the only ones there. This guy, Shaun, immediately checked us in and talked us through getting a Priority Care Plus. He said we are getting a great deal by having this as it includes a full diagnostic, tune-up, updates, etc. So we thought that sounded great! We paid $150 for this Priority Care Plus (3x more than we anticipated to pay in the beginning). After the check-in, Shaun mentioned there were four computers in front of us, but he can certainly take a look at my partner's PC now and see what's going on. I've asked if he has an estimate on how long it will take so we can figure out if my partner and I should wait at Micro Center or get lunch nearby, but Shaun confidently said it should not take that long and they will text or call us about the status. So we said, great and we left Micro Center around 11 to get lunch, hours passed by, and no word from them, no follow-up, no text or call, nothing... so we went back to Micro Center around 3 p.m. and saw the line and waitlist on their screen had names in it, so we figured they might be busy (by this time, I wish I had insisted on talking to someone). We gave them the benefit of the doubt that they might be short-staffed (even though there were literally 9 people there standing chit-chatting and not doing anything, but still gave them the benefit of the doubt). Instead, we went to the car, sat down, and waited there for hours. Now it's 7pm and this is now getting absurd. Still no text, no calls, no emails or follow-ups from the service dept. 7:20 p.m. we finally got a chance to talk to someone named Chase. Shout out to him; he helped us end our miserable long waiting hours. He managed to get us the PC back at 8:55 p.m., 5 minutes before Micro Center closed. Our appointment is at 10:40am and we got the PC back 10hours later?!! I mean, I'm no IT or anything but this is simple general diagnostic that should only take 45-1hr but 10 hours?? What are we talking about here!!! This is ridiculous as we had to cancel our dinner plans with family and had to rush back to our dog all the way to Fremont. It's absurd how much disrespectful this is and they absolutely did not care about our time!! We thought that the other benefit of getting the Priority Care Plus is to get us in "priority lane," but I guess not. So don't waste your money on paying triple if nothing major is wrong with your computer. I am in disbelief that we have wasted our Saturday waiting, waiting for someone to tell us the status of the "general PC checkup." If someone just sent us a text and made us aware that they will take all day, we could've planned our day more. Thanks, Chase, for getting us out of the door, and I will definitely not recommend Micro Center Santa Clara Tech Staff to anyone. read more

Returns take a little bit of time because they are careful to check that returned items are in good condition. but I think that's totally fair and in the end I got all my money back. We are frequently visiting. My bf spends his weight on all things tech. Like shopping here and getting accessories as well. Went to use the bathroom and the water was so hot it was hard to keep my hands under the water. Had to wash the soap off, but it was burning. I let a couple of employees standing nearby that is was quite hot and I was afraid a kid might be hurt. I squelched a little, never used water this hot. I just thought maybe they didn't know. Female employee said "what am I supposed to do" the guy next to her, shook his head and said they don't really know about that. The female then said yea it's like that in all the bathrooms. I said ok, just didn't want someone to get hurt. Guy did walk to front as I saw him a few minutes later while checking out. He said he told his manager and he was told there was nothing they could do because it was "contacted work". I said ok, you usually just have to turn the water heater thermostat down, but I just was informing. So awkward. He then said it's above my pay grade anyway, and shook his head. I thought I was just doing the right thing, but I was treated like I was some crazy person. so today is the soft opening of micro center. I wasn't expecting a such a turnout as there was, but it took about 30 to 40 minutes just to get in. honestly not bad considering. I walked the whole store again not bad at all it's nice to see item on display getting the opportunity to actually see the items. a lot of cool custom keyboards, racing sims, lighting strips all the monitors on display. All the cool little things that they have soldering irons keyboard mats etc. I know it was the first of 2 days before the store actually opens. there would be lines everywhere and the was not even sure what one of them was for. the employees were everywhere so when I was looking to find one so I can get my 128gb flash drive that they were giving away for free with coupon which I have. I could then find anyone to asked cause they were I wasn't and nor being able to catch up to anyone cause of my knees I heard a guess saying on how mess up it was that he couldn't get one so then me looking to get one was looking very grim. if that was one of the reasons for the visit, I waited probably close to a year for this store to open. just to be let down by it. read more
