I took my laptop in after finding it dead on a Thursday morning. I use it as my main computer with a powered hub and extended monitor. I was asked if I wanted expedited service and of course I said "yes" to the charge of $99 since I needed it turned around fast. On Friday I called to find out the status and was told that it needed to be "opened" and if I approved (another charge) with no commitment as to when it would be fixed. Saturday was the tech's day off and they are not open on Sunday so no apparent rush to fix it. On Monday I was asked if I needed the data. I had originally said "no" because I had my data backed up on Carbonite. I asked about the Apps that I had and the tech said they would be wiped as well so I decided to save the data and apps. This was a $199 charge to "determine if the data was salvageable" by testing the SSD. I was then called and told that yes, the SSD was salvageable and there would be a $599 charge to recover it. Each step was a dagger because I needed my computer and the data/apps so I approved the charges. I finally got my computer back on Monday afternoon with a $1,600 bill feeling like I should have just bought a new computer and put up with reinstalling my apps. I got the computer home, hooked into my system and it worked fine. The next morning it was dead again. I hooked it up to a spare charger (bypassing the powered hub) and the computer was back to life. The entire problem was my hub charger! At no time was I advised that a charger might have been the problem and was instead overcharged for work that wasn't needed (probably not even opened to get to the SSD that I was bill around $800 for testing and recovery.) THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF! I'm thinking of reporting them to the BBB. Update on 08/14/26: Eddy from ClickAway reached out to explain the services that were performed on my laptop. After his explanation I am now better informed of the work and charges and better appreciate what was needed to get it restored to working order. We have been clients/customers with ClickAway since 4/2020 when we purchase a new computer. Since then we have used their services and purchased other equipment. They have always looked out for us, taking care of our computer needs, especially when we need their computer experience to "fix the problem". Terrible experience. We brought in our MacBook Air after a few drops of water got into the keyboard. We called several repair shops, and this was the only one that told us the evaluation was free, so we drove a long way to bring it in. They told us they would open the computer and inspect it, but instead they powered it on immediately and left it closed. The next day, it was obvious they had not opened or inspected it at all. Then suddenly they wanted $99 just to open the back and take a look inside, which was completely different from what we had been told before. Without even opening the computer, they insisted that it would never work again and tried to sell us another laptop. The whole experience felt dishonest and honestly felt like a scam. We wasted two days driving back and forth and lost valuable time when we could have left the laptop open at home to let the moisture evaporate. The way they handled it made us feel as though they wanted the laptop to get worse so they could charge us to repair it. read more

Very disappointed with the service I received at ClickAway in Sunnyvale. I had a work PC that started to get a boot error for "imminent drive failure back up drive soon". Was busy at work so I took the PC to Clickaway and paid for expedited service to backup the drive, transfer it to a new drive and install it. Seemed simple. Two days later was told that the drive may be unrecoverable, and that recovery would cost an additional $1120 on top of the $350 I paid for them to tell me this? I was told they were unable to boot from the drive though I was always able to after getting the message. I assumed maybe it failed while they ran their diagnostic, but after declining the recovery fee and getting the PC back I was able to boot the drive just fine and recovered the data very easily myself, obviously I should have done this in the first place. At the same time I purchased a refurbished PC from ClickAway. Was told it had a 1TB SSD over the phone, then that turned into a 1TB HDD when I got there in person. I booted it up and found it only had a 240GB SSD. Opened up the case a found a 240GB SSD dangling, unsecured but connected inside. I unplugged the SSD and plugged in the original 1TB HDD that was installed but unplugged. That seems to work fine, but as this is a refurb I have no idea if this drive has an issue or why there was a SSD installed like that. Waisted my time and my money. read more

I have been a customer of Click Away for years, buying new computers and receiveing help. I recently had trouble connecting my computer to my printer, and I took it to Click Away. When he was done, the repair person dropped off the computer to my house. The printing from the computer still would not work. Among other charges I now question, was $199.99 to back up services. My back up service was current, already. I called the store and complained about the PRICE AND SERVICE. The price was $1099.96. I ended up fixing the computer myself. After speaking to the store manager, I was sent two different invoices with no explaination why. They did agreed to deduct $299.00 from the bill which would come off my credit card. Extremely disappointed with their pricing transparency. I came in for a screen replacement, and they tried to force a $599 'mandatory' data backup fee on me. This is more than the cost of many repairs! The screen is the only issue; the data is fine. Forcing a service that costs hundreds of dollars under the guise of 'repair protocol' is a huge red flag. The next day they detected hard drive failure, and quickly replaced with a new, much better hard drive on which they downloaded all all my files from my backup drive. I called Click Away to notify them what happened. William Green handled troubleshooting my laptop issues. William was able to get my laptop back in working condition.
