I decided to drop off my computer for this shop to repair based on the reviews from Yelp. But unfortunately, I received nothing but bad experience from this store. Back in May, I started noticed an error massage has been coming up occasionally saying "The power adapter attached to your system is not recognized. Attach a supported power adapter with at least 45 watts". I assumed that the power core that came with the computer might be bad, so I ordered another OME Dell power core. With the new power core, the error message went away for about a month, then reappear again. At this point, I decided to bring the computer in for repair. I brought the computer to Meridian Computer on 6/24/24. I was told by an employee there that the diagnostic would cost $60 and if I decided to have the laptop repaired with them after the diagnostic, then the $60 diagnostic fee would be waived. Later that day, I received a phone call from Sam the owner. He informed me that the battery in the laptop was bad, and the cost of the replacement would be around $120, so I authorized him for the repair over the phone. Sam said he has to order the battery and I should be able to pick up my laptop on 6/26/24. Since I did not hear from Sam, I decided to call him on 6/26/24 to see if my laptop was ready. I left several messages between 6/26 and 6/28. I finally received a call back from Sam on 6/28. Sam told me that they installed the new battery but the problem still exists and that his technician will need more time to figure out the problem (so the initial diagnostic was wrong). Sam told me to give him until next Tuesday (7/2/24) and they should know the real cause of the problem. I waited until Wednesday (7/3/24) and still have not heard from anyone at Meridian Computer, so I decided to give that another call to check on the status. A male individual answered the phone. He told me that he does not know the problem(s) with my laptop and does not know when the repair will be done. He said Sam is on vacation this week and I have to check back next week. On Monday (7/8/24) I received a phone call from Sam. He told me the repair would cost me an additional $190, which brings the total to $310. At this point, I do not have any other options but authorized the repair. I have been without my computer for over two weeks and need it for work. Sam said he had to order some more parts and the repair should be done in two days. On 7/10/24, I received a phone call from Sam telling me my laptop is ready for pickup. He said they would guarantee the repair for one month (which contradicted what his employee told me when I initially brought my laptop to them. The employee told me all repairs are warranty for 90 days.) I expressed my concern to Sam that the 30-day guarantee is too short, he told me once the laptop is working, there should not be a problem. I went in to pick up my computer in the afternoon of 7/10/24. When I went into the store, his employee (the same person who accepted my computer on 6/24) told me that the OME Dell power cord that I ordered was "fake", and that I should discontinue using that power cord, otherwise, the problem will reappear and the repair warranty is void. The same employee also said I could purchase a Dell power cord from them for an additional $45. Since I did not want the warranty to be void, I decided to spend the additional $45 and left the store with my laptop and their power cord. The computer works fine for approximately one month. Then the same charging issue reappeared on 8/10/24. Exactly one day the warranty expired. As of writing this review, the battery of my laptop would not charge and the power of the computer is completely drained. I cannot even power up my computer even with the a/c power plugged in. If you decide to bring your computer for them to repair. I sincerely hope that you will have better luck than me. I would not trust them to do any repairs on any of my electronic equipment again. read more

Took my very very old but still working lap to see if they can save files and move them to hard drive -- did no open my laptop top while onsite as I trusted them to honestly leave the computer working as it was when I took it there - 3 days later when I went to turn the computer on turns out the mouse does not respond and cannot access any of my work I was able to access before taking it to them -- not Ok not ok as they declined to tell me they had disabled my computer-- Do Not Trust -- by the way they also charge $60 for the "diagnostics". What can I say? The combined efforts of Sam and Bill, at Meridian Computer Systems, resulted in a TOTAL restoration of my main system's HD, which had crashed and was utterly inaccessible. This was HUGE, as I was facing losing 10 years of photography post-processing and databases, plus a plethora of related (and very expensive) photography applications . . . (as well as the standard suite of Windows applications such as MS Word etc. etc.). As an IT Tech (retired) I absolutely committed the cardinal sin of not having sufficient backups of my system. Sam and Bill, through their willing persistence (and a heavy dose of compassion) performed a genuine miracle by completely recovering my main system disk, over the course of four days' effort. Beyond their demonstrated technical wizardry, they went far beyond the call of duty by having my system back to me on a Sunday morning -- a normally closed business day for them -- simply so that I could be back up an running in the quickest time-frame possible (which I REALLY appreciated). Frankly, I am still shocked/surprised that my outcome was so utterly spectacular . . . I didn't have much optimism going in, nor for the first day or two of their efforts. But the news kept getting better and better as they doggedly pursued and applied solutions, and I shall never forget their kindness, empathy, and complete willingness to really go far beyond the normal expectations by putting in extra time and effort, thus minimizing my downtime. When I got the call on a Sunday morning from Sam, with good news, I immediately drove over and, with his blessing (and much patience) I took a good forty-five minutes, if not an hour, testing the results (which was mostly verification of crucial files, and applications' functionality). Having done such work in my days in IT, I knew all too well that first glances in these cases can be deceiving . . . but in my case, the entirety of my system was indeed restored (on a brand new disk, of course). After very patiently awaiting for me to finishing "auditing" the system image, Sam presented the bill, with the comment, "James, I really hated to charge you so much . . ." Have no fear: given the several hours, over several days, of meticulous effort -- demonstrating quite clearly that they (both Bill and Sam) were genuinely and wholly invested in trying to save me from disaster -- the cost was **WELL** worth it, and extremely, even ridiculously reasonable. Had Sam and Bill not put in such a yeoman's effort, and not been able to obtain a successful result, I would have been looking at sending the hard drive to any of several specialized labs which do ONLY disk recovery --- which would've easily cost 5x - 10x more than Sam charged me. BOTTOM LINE: AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE, FROM EXCELLENT EFFORTS BY EXCELLENT PEOPLE. read more

These folks are good. Don't judge book by cover - small place. I spilled some water on my favorite Macbook aire. Thought I caught it in time, but the trackpad stopped working and some keys. I opened it up myself but wasn't able to fix... These guys fixed it up in less than week... I never asked how long it would take because I was about to leave on business trip. Got a phone call from person who looked at it - said what needed to be replace and cost and I could pick it up next day. Nice. When my laptop screen went dead on me I freaked out. I use to go to CompUSA to fix my computers, but they closed a lot of their stores including the one by my house. I knew I didn't want to go to the Geek Squad as they are overpriced and try and trick you into buying extras (I have several friends this has happened to).
