Greg has been installing and servicing alarm systems his entire career. He is no non-sense, methodical, and carries many parts with him. After ruling out power and fuse issues, Greg narrowed it down to our system's motherboard. An old transformer had unknowingly fried the board. Greg replaced it and reprogrammed the new board to match the old one. He also painstakingly tested each glass break and smoke detector connected to the system. All in all, this took about three hours which Greg worked steadily throughout. If you need service work on your alarm system, Greg is your guy.

I told him to do his best to save my data. The next day he texted me with a quote and said that he would be able to fix it and save my data. I told him to fix it. About 3 hours later he texted me again and said to come on by and pick it up. Now when I arrived he didn't just give me my computer and send me on my way, he sat me down and explained that I have 3 different options to save my data just in case the hard drive or computer crashes in the future. He also said that if I'm not sure how to back up the hard drive or need help with anything to call him and he would walk me through it. He ran a bunch of tests, but was unable to make much difference in the performance. After he left, I discovered that he had run some "cleanup" utility that reset a lot of settings and preferences. In all of my Office apps, the Recent Documents history was deleted. Several quick launch shortcuts failed to work or were deleted. He never asked if this was OK or even mentioned to me that this would happen. A few days later, I noticed that the speaker applet had been disabled so that I had no control of the sound volume. I called Mike who basically told me to get lost. He said that cleanup utilities sometimes reset things and that's just the way things are. When I asked why Mat hadn't even told me what would happen, let alone ask permission, he was dismissive. I then called Jeremy, who I presume is the senior partner. He also said I was making a big deal out of nothing and told me that all of their customers are very happy. No one made any effort to address my problems or fix them, not that I would let these hacks anywhere near my machines again. ymmv
