This particular gamestop is a godsend, I used to go to Westgate but since it shut down I had to find a new place for my pre-orders. I wasn't sure of where to go but I was glad I stopped in here, the staff was super friendly! The store is super clean, really well organized and have a great selection of games. They were super patient with all my questions about upcoming games and let me know if some cool stuff that was going on for pro members. Don't get your cards graded here! I submitted a heavy set of cards earlier this year. And I always had a good ratio of getting back 10s so when GameStop introduced this new system of grading with PSA *before they raised prices twice* I had to try it out &. I inspect every card I submit so you can see how I was shocked when I first my first ever 7s and 8s for the first time. I'm not sure if my cards were tampered with or what. But I'm 100% certain I did not submit my cards like that. My advice go to a more experienced and professional GameStop. read more

Okay, little background I worked at GameStop back in the day, it's how I met my husband, so I got some opinions on how it is now... But walking into this one store gave me flashbacks to the glory days. They greeted me with a warm welcome. The store itself was well organized compared to most of the stores these days. The two gentlemen working (I know one's name was Alberto) were nice to everyone and while it's a customer service job and those tend to be awful to work these days, they seemed to be happy to be working, what a shock! (Surely they weren't thrilled to be working, no one is but they didn't let that affect their customer service!) I had called and asked if they had a game because the last store that it said had it online didn't and they said they did. I get there and they realized it's not where it should be. They could've said it was an inventory error and set me on my way. I'd have understood. It was an old game hardly anyone would want these days, but no. They judged search through boxes for us while helping other customers. I'm sure they weren't happy to have to spend time looking but they never let it reflect their moods. They were genuinely happy when they found it and made my night! They were helpful and friendly and everything I miss about the way GameStop used to be. It's no secret that GameStop has been in a rough place as a company for awhile... what with tanking stocks and the "retail apocalypse" but this store is going it RIGHT. I called this evening to ask if they had the new Baldur's Gate: EE for Xbox One in stock. Fella on the line said their last copy was the display and kindly put it on hold for me while I drove over. I brought some trade-ins with me (which I normally don't do) and was greeted by the three employees there. Cynthia had my game reserved and waiting, and all three began enthusiastically telling me about the updates to GameStop's Pro Membership: $5 off coupon on sign-up, and $5 off coupons monthly for all of 2020, $5 bonus for trade-in + 10% additional on trade-ins, and of course the digital magazine, for $15. So I went for it. I'd been expecting to drop $50 + tax on the game, but came out having only spent $46 for the game and the membership. Made me pretty happy! But I want to give kudos to those three employees who seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the new membership benefits. They revealed there was a competition going between stores for sign-ups, and I think they're gonna win it, lol; they made a great team. I also recognized one of the guys from a prior visit I'd had when he was all on his own manning the store at the end of the night and he really hustled to help everyone out as efficiently as possible (he even kept the store open late to attend to everyone, when he could have locked up and sent people away). So clearly they have an excellent work ethic at this location-- it's busier than most GameStops I walk into. read more

This location is my go to spot for newly released video games and entertainment related merchandise. The staff members here know what they are doing, but if you get them started on games they are passionate about, you could be busy for quite some time with their conversations. I love their regular sales that they have, but their half off clearance sales are the way to go. Occasionally, items will ring up for less than advertised, which can save you a lot more money. Always remember to sign up for their membership, it can save you even more $$$ as you build points on purchases. read more

incredible customer service by Daniel. he made sure we were taken care of and we had exactly what we needed for my boyfriend's specific game console. he was clearly knowledgeable about the product he was selling, and he was extremely personable and people-oriented. during our visit, he greeted another customer by his name, so he obviously is friends with the regulars at this location. it was also suuuper busy and he was the only one working (i think the other guy was on lunch), but Dan kept his composure and patience, effectively helping everyone in-store, and even being awesome on the phone. 10/10 customer service + work ethic, give this guy a raise. read more

Yesterday I went to the game stop store in San Jose California at the Coleman shopping center. This was my first time going inside a store since the pandemic started. I was a little bit nervous but we "needed" a Nintendo switch My shopping experience by a pre-pandemic standard was great. However I wanted to let you know how amazing your it was for pandemic standards! They were super helpful on the phone! They answered all my questions before I got there to minimize my time in the store. when I came to the store they were amazing! I've never bought a game consul or game before and they took their time to explain things to me and expedited the process so I was comfortable working at a time I spent in the store. The store was very clean and tidy. One employee was even disinfecting things. One of the better Gamestop's in the area. The staff is pretty friendly, and their stock matches up with what it says online. You come here and you feel comfortable and ready to shop, unlike another Gamestop not so far away. The game stores are becoming a dying breed, so enjoy them while you can as everything goes digital. I love being able to hold what I buy, but I'm old school in that sense. Still, this place offers a lot of what you might be looking for in relation to the gaming world, so there is that at least. This GS is sleazy. They claim that my item which was still new and unopened could not be returned because they changed their policy that morning. Clerk: Fine, I'll just be a dick to you for the remainder of this transaction (He didn't say that, but certainly was). Listen Gamestop seasonal employee with the tie-dye t-shirt, I get it, retail sucks, we have all been there. It doesn't help that you work for a corporation that pushes you guys to upsell people left and right on warranties, memberships, and pre-orders. The Circle of Life has been as much of a shit-show for you guys as it has been for us the consumer. But it isn't cool that if I do not elect to do something and I'm direct (READ: transparent and not a dick about it), that you take this personally. I don't know if you wake up w/ baited breath thinking "fuck man, I can't wait to tell at least one person my new Power Up Rewards spiel. The guys here are always very nice. I have used this as my hub for when a new exciting game comes out. I camped out till midnight waiting for the release of Halo 3. I'm at my in laws house for the Memorial Day weekend. My brother-in-law decide to head to Gamestop to see if we could acquire a game for the 360 to play together. Compared to other GameStop stores I have been in, this one seemed more "attractive." For better understanding I will say cleaner. I just feel like the others are slightly darker and a bit dirty. I guess it comes from all the little kids running back in forth from the demo consoles like they are in a candy store. The rep that served us was Daniel. He was very helpful with relating info and tips with our questions and game purchases. My experience was very good...even when we returned for an exchange/new game about 45 mins later! The best GameStop I've ever been to, hands down. I have been here three times in the last month, and every experience has been, if possible, better than the last. Our first visit, we intended just to take a look around and ended up being assisted by Khiem, whose knowledge of both video games in general and his store in particular was encyclopedic. Our brief visit turned into an involved 40-minute discussion on what was coming out soon and what had come out right now; he warned us away from a game we had been considering and pointed out a game that we had been looking for for months. The experience was fantastic. Next visit we were assisted by Shaheen, who has already been mentioned in these reviews (so you know he's good). Shaheen is the system-twister to end all system-twisters. He helped us maximize our purchasing to get the most bang for our buck and, when we found that one of the games we were going to buy wasn't ACTUALLY in stock (the box was there, but the game was not)...he let us have the box and the manual inside for free. To non-gamers (or those without OCD) this may not seem like much, but when you consider that we might very well find that game without the box for cheaper...it was a more than adequate offer. Our third and most recent visit...what incredible luck! Both Khiem and Shaheen were working at the same time. It was like apple pie and ice cream. I have never in my life left a store feeling so satisfied. Nothing about the store itself is particularly out of the ordinary. It's about as well-stocked as any other GameStop. However, when you begin noticing the unusual organization of the shelves (GameStop shelves are NEVER organized,) you begin to realize that there's something a little bit different about this location. And then, when you meet the marvelous employees, you'll understand exactly what it is. Pay it a visit. You won't be sorry. read more

Last year I got a Xbox 360 to play Rockband and COD4 and ever since I found this Gamestop, which is about 1 mile from my apartment, I have never bought a game anywhere else. The staff here is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Their stock is complete and well rounded. Game demos are always up and working as well, which is a rarity at some locations and every Best Buy. I've traded stuff in, bought used games, bought new games, reserved games, everything, and every transaction has been smooth. Prices are fair, you can sometimes find cheaper prices at Fry's but I hate...HATE that place. The $2 more is worth my soul. Also, the used game selection is great here and the prices are fantastic. If you're in Downtown, do yourself a favor and stop here to get you video game fix. read more

This is a as much a review of Gamestop the franchise as of this specific location. My girlfriend went in a couple of weeks ago to reserve Halo 3 for me and ended up getting hit on by some geek working the counter who thought aloud that girls who play Halo are "hot", then winked at her. WTF? I wonder why it's difficult to find some casual female gamers? Maybe they're turned off by something somewhere down the line...hmmm. I went back and got my reservation refunded and took my business elsewhere. I did stop by and buy a Xbox Live subscription a few weeks later only to be offered a laundry list of games I could put on reserve!!! Take your business and buy a game at a store where you won't be pressured to buy useless reservations. 99.9% of games aren't sold out at launch so why buy a reservation for Barbie's Pony Princess? The only time this is useful is for games with a midnight launch (i.e. Halo). Avoid employees that are socially inept and pressured by the company to offer useless products every time you set foot in the store. Do yourself a favor a walk a couple steps over to Target nearby. read more

They usually have games in stock and their customer service is pretty good. It's a lot better than the ones that are located in the mall (great mall, valley fair, oakridge). read more

The two gentleman working there weren't too pushy, but were very knowledgeable in questions we had regarding the games, return policy, game consoles. My regular place to get games. Midnight releases are a blast here, and the staff is fairly jolly and lighthearded. It's nice to see a chainstore not populated by zombies for once. You can tell they're really into what they sell, and they're happy to have a conversation with you if they're not too busy. Again - my fave about the place is midnight releases. It's not too long of a line, but it's enough people that you can have a good nerdy time with the other hardcore gamers in the line with you. I've never had a difficult time having a good laugh with other people in line here for over 5+ releases. read more

This is a newer store, so it's still clean and has no noticeable little-kid-puke stains on the relatively intact carpet. It's also usually pretty close to empty, so service is fast and attentive, when you want it to be. The staff is quite knowledgeable and friendly too, and not nearly as pushy/annoying with up-selling/reserving other products as at typical Gamestop's. Plus, they've always had what I wanted in stock. They're always friendly and willing to talk to you about games, as well as give you recommendations based off what you like or don't like. They also have very low pressure to buy anything, which for a gamestop is actually awesome. They do have the typical "want to sign up for our rewards card" thing but still it's not usually intrusive and they're always are nice about. Would definitely buy from again. read more

Do not go to this store the assistant store manager is quite hostile. I went in to inquire about the xbox series x and there were none nor any idea of when they would come in so I asked if I could cash out the gift card to get cash instead and the manager seemed upset that I even asked he said no I then asked if I could purchase items leaving 10 on the card so I could cash out and he then called his store manager asking him if he should call security on me instead he calls police instead all because I had a question about cashing out a gift card. Clearly this business is not doing well if they can't even cash out a gift card because they can't keep stock of a console which is the main purpose of gamestop. Do not spend your money here the people have always been a problem you can check youtube for former employees stating the condition of the working environment and they are never good. There is a reason this company almost went bankrupt stocks are the only thing keeping them a float now cuz its never been customer service. Let me just say I have some sort of GameStop-o-phobia. They always make me claustrophobic and have some weird smell. Plus they are usually filled with nerdy teenage boys with acne. After about 2 minutes in one I'm ready to bolt out the door. So it sucks for me that I live with a guy who LOVES video games and I must admit I like them too. Ok so this GameStop is my second favorite of the ones in SJ. Came in today cause the bf got a gift card for his birthday. They have a pretty good selection here and he found a used game that he wanted. Service is always friendly and SOMETIMES quick if the store isn't semi full. My husband is a jaded gamer. Not only does he game, but he makes the games, too. Pick up a copy of Command and Conquer's Tiberian Sun and you'll hear his voice in it - he's the engineer. Yea, he's that old school. ;) So when we step into *any* game store, he's already dubious about the games they carry and the selection of gaming accessories. He found this one to be acceptable, but not a good one. In general, he isn't a fan of places that re-sells games because...that's a whole other thing that I won't get into, but feel free to DM me for an explanation. We've been here twice and the service has been ok each time. While it's not the friendly, stellar service we've received from other Gamestops, this one isn't bad. However, it's not good, either. They have a decent selection, but it's slim pickins because it appears to be a busy location - I forget San Jose State and Santa Clara University are close by. read more
