Came by here for the first time after visiting their other location and I'm very impressed with the selection here. I feel like this store has a lot more rare stuff than their other location plus it's a lot bigger. I was glad it was slow today so it was just me alone shopping and browsing which was nice. I love that they have a lot of everything even vintage consoles and a lot of games. I had my eye on a clear gameboy pocket from the other location and they had one here so I figured I'd pick it up. Pricing wasn't too bad for it, and I was looking at price tags for some of the items and I didn't think it was too much especially since you're able to see the condition in person and take it home the same day. Save N Continue is great, the customer service here is fantastic, the store is very organized and I wasn't even mad about the prices for a used gameboy. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could! I'm definitely coming back to pick up more stuff. Thank you Save N Continue!

Excellent service. Much easier than dealing with FB, Craigslist or EBay. Must see shop for retro gaming. Fantastic selection.

Most retro game stores are cramped, Save N Continue is one of the few that has enough space to avoid that problem.

It's really disgusting how 80% of people in the hobby are larping manchildren that are no better than TCG resellers. 2.) I find that retro game shops across the US are generally really terribly ran with insane pricing, dirty interiors, bad selection, and rude staff. I'm happy to say that Gameshop Downstairs is the SOLE EXCEPTION. Their staff are very polite and genuinely want to help you find what you're looking for, even when swamped with customers on a busy day. Their selection is unlike anything I have seen in any game shop in the entire NorCal region, especially for late 2000s-2010s era games such as Wii, DS, and 3DS. I also appreciate that they have a wide selection of DVDs and BluRays - old anime, movies, and cartoons alike. They even regularly stock CRTs, and while a bit expensive, they do in fact sell at fair market price. On that note, their pricing is extremely fair, and even the more contentious pricing I saw was actually on the dot with fair market pricing when checking online. Even if some things are slightly marked up, I think they easily make up for it with the sheer amount of stuff they carry. I can't emphasize enough how good their collection is, I spent a whole hour here. The museum is really cool too. The mix of 80s-90s and 2000s-2010s gear made it a perfect trip for my Dad & I, since that represents the generations of technology we grew up with respectively.

However, a major downside is that many items don't have price tags, so you'll often need to track down an employee just to find out how much something costs. I picked up two blind boxes during my visit. While the selection was nice, I wouldn't recommend buying them here. They were priced at $20 each, but the same ones are available online at Amazon or Target for around $14. That's about a 43% markup, which feels steep for the exact same product. If you're just looking to window shop or kill some time, it's a nice place. But for actual purchases--especially for anything you can find online--you're better off checking prices first.

When I mentioned the price on TCGplayer they responded with "It shouldn't be that cheap, must be an error" and I immediately walked out. I was not about to pay 2.5x the market price for some cards that'd fill out my collection. Despite the fact I hate waiting for TCGplayer and haven't had a great experience with them overall, I'd much rather go through them than support a business that seems to scalp and price gouge. Would rate this place a 0/5, but unfortunately that isn't an option

The store itself is huge! Way bigger than it looks from the outside. The staff is kind and eager to help- they remind me of the skilled staff at bookstores back before the internet decimated the industry. But it is nice to see some bookstores surviving and even thriving. The selection of books was great- I came looking for 3-4 random books, including kids books- and I found them. One of the books was not available at any local library. The pricing was very fair for the area and the fact that it is an in store experience- and you get the enjoyment of browsing their large selection of titles. Btw they have a friendly cat. He sleeps a lot like most cats but is nice. I highly, highly recommend this business. Easy parking. Great selection. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Good prices.

First off, I love the political signs posted on the windows, like the "everyone is welcome here except ICE". When I walked in, the store looked exactly like what I've always envisioned a cozy community bookstore to be like--filled to the brim with books and with a lot of character. I came here to sell some books and it was pretty quick--I had probably 20-25 books and the employee finished in less than 10 minutes. As I was waiting for my books, I walked around exploring. I was very impressed with the selection of fiction. There were actually quite a bit of new releases, but also older books and editions that I would likely not find at a corporate bookstore. If I had the time, I'd love to spend 1-2 hours here just browsing. I didn't expect to get much money for my books; I was actually going to donate them and didn't realize that they still buy books, so their offer was ok. I was moreso pleasantly surprised that the employee was so nice lol, and also a little chatty. Honestly the last time I sold books was probably 15-20+ years ago at Half Price Books and I remember they were always pretty rude/standoffish lol. In addition to the service, the atmosphere, and the book selection, the cherry on top for me was that they have a special shelf where you can buy a book there for 50% off for them to donate to the library at Elmwood Correctional Facility at a bit of a loss for the store. I used most of my credit from the books to get a Stephen King book for the library.
