Their staff are very polite and genuinely want to help you find what you're looking for, even when swamped with customers on a busy day. Their selection is unlike anything I have seen in any game shop in the entire NorCal region, especially for late 2000s-2010s era games such as Wii, DS, and 3DS. I also appreciate that they have a wide selection of DVDs and BluRays - old anime, movies, and cartoons alike. They even regularly stock CRTs, and while a bit expensive, they do in fact sell at fair market price. On that note, their pricing is extremely fair, and even the more contentious pricing I saw was actually on the dot with fair market pricing when checking online. Even if some things are slightly marked up, I think they easily make up for it with the sheer amount of stuff they carry. I can't emphasize enough how good their collection is, I spent a whole hour here. The museum is really cool too. The mix of 80s-90s and 2000s-2010s gear made it a perfect trip for my Dad & I, since that represents the generations of technology we grew up with respectively.

This specific location of Legends has a very limited comic/manga selection and no back issues. If you're looking for comics, I recommend going to the Legends location at Eastridge Mall, which has a better selection of trade paperbacks, back issues, and current issues. This Valley Faire location sells mostly trading cards, collectibles/statues/figurines, Funkos, and board games. Overall, I still like coming here even though I don't always buy something! This time, I was looking for a card for my baby cousin, but I will not be returning to the new location after my experience today. I walked in and was completely ignored, albeit it is standard for a deadbeat college student not to give a fuck. My main problem was when I threw my trash into the trash can, like most people would. Twenty minutes later, while I was browsing all the pretty cards, the worker came up to me to say that the trash can is not for consumables and shoved it back into my hand in the rudest way possible. That being said, I do understand that they don't give a fuck. They're just there to make ends meet and want to continue the banter with the coworker who was allegedly an hour late. To be quite honest, I usually just take rude interactions and move on with my life, because life would be miserable if everyone started pointing fingers. It would just start a game of he said, she said, and I would rather keep the peace, but this experience just has to be heard. It was unprofessional, rude, and lazy. If your staff is more interested in gossiping than serving customers, you have a serious training and management problem at this new location. Realistically, nobody important is going to give a fuck, since people just come and go in most places, but for this experience, I just thought I'd let my thoughts be heard. I am glad I kept and have a Silicon Valley Comic Con hooded jacket. I got to meet the late Stan Lee and the late Adam Wear. I got to meet Burt Ward, William Shatner, Ray Park and Temuera Morrison at this con. It is too bad that this con ended; fortunately, Galaxy Con has taken its place.

When I walked in, the store looked exactly like what I've always envisioned a cozy community bookstore to be like--filled to the brim with books and with a lot of character. I came here to sell some books and it was pretty quick--I had probably 20-25 books and the employee finished in less than 10 minutes. As I was waiting for my books, I walked around exploring. I was very impressed with the selection of fiction. There were actually quite a bit of new releases, but also older books and editions that I would likely not find at a corporate bookstore. If I had the time, I'd love to spend 1-2 hours here just browsing. I didn't expect to get much money for my books; I was actually going to donate them and didn't realize that they still buy books, so their offer was ok. I was moreso pleasantly surprised that the employee was so nice lol, and also a little chatty. Honestly the last time I sold books was probably 15-20+ years ago at Half Price Books and I remember they were always pretty rude/standoffish lol. In addition to the service, the atmosphere, and the book selection, the cherry on top for me was that they have a special shelf where you can buy a book there for 50% off for them to donate to the library at Elmwood Correctional Facility at a bit of a loss for the store. I used most of my credit from the books to get a Stephen King book for the library.

Shelves packed floor to ceiling, creaky wooden floors, stacks of books everywhere, and even a cat roaming around the store it feels like something straight out of a fantasy novel. I've visited countless bookstores, and nothing beats the old vintage feel of this place. They have a great selection of beautiful leather-bound books, plus an excellent fantasy and sci-fi section. I especially love when they put books out in under $6! The prices at this location are better, and this store feels much more like a classic old bookstore. The Campbell location feels more like a modern bookstore, and the prices there can sometimes be higher. At the end of the day, this place is a San Jose landmark and everyone should visit it at least once. Even when I disagree with certain aspects of it, I still keep coming back because it's nostalgic.
