Helped me pick out and upgrade my pc so much. Totally recommend and much better than best buy for sure.

They are extremely nice when you come to buy, but god forbid you need to you your warranty, they will hang up the phone and treat you like crap. Buy your electronics somewhere else. I wish the owner would listen to the conversation and see how they treat us. Never again. read more

Have to admit i was a little skeptical at first making the journey up to the Patterson Micro Center, normally i'd go to the ST Davids PA "Philadelphia' location for when things are needed, but in the spirit of adventure we decided to give the ole gal a whirl. First and foremost my lord is the Patterson location a lot larger than the St Davids exception being the TV dept, which St Davids is a few leaps above. Id also call the BYOP section at Patterson a bit chaotic compared to the ST Davids location, far more in stock, but a bit harder to find what your looking for. The DIY/Hobby electronics section In Paterson is massive and comprehensive, the water cooling isle was also a surprise, obviously its not quite as comprehensive as a catalog from a specialist online site, but Paterson has a surprising selection including full EK kits. One minor point of contention, for all of the display cases available to play with and look inside (And hoo boy did they have some of my favorites out of box to feel up) i wasn't able to find a single Fractal Design case, on display, or in box- rather a fan of the understated designs they produce. Another thing i noticed is some of the higher end parts are MIA or so far up you'd need to squint at it on a ladder, though, judging by the fact that high-end ryzens looked to be sold out while those new HEDT Intel parts were hanging makes me think people may have just bought all of the stuff i was looking at- EG You may need to search a bit or confirm availability if you want something crazy like a 1080 TI Poseidon or an AX 1500I I do love the sheer amount of display models the store has, i spent about 20 minutes just molesting keyboards during my visit which (Sadly the store was closing and we had to get out) did lead to me going online to buy a Corsair K95 Platinum after the fact. Great store, ill definitely be back sometime~ read more

THE SCAM CONTINUES..... As you can see in my previous review, Micro Center made believe they actually cared about our experience and asked us to contact them. We contacted them over a week ago and we still haven't heard from them. This is exactly what you can expect from Micro Center. Stay away from them. read more

Came in looking for a very specific electronics tool. Asked the folks in the DIY computer department who weren't able to help me but suggested I speak with one of the general sales employees, tracked one down who told me to speak with the DIY computer department... not sure what they get paid to do other than slap stickers on things I've already found on my own. Finally able to locate something similar to what I was looking for and went to check out, 25 people in line on a Saturday afternoon and two registers open. All the aggravations of retail shopping without any of the advantages. If I was on the west coast I could walk in to a Fry's Electronics and probably be out in less than 20 minutes. read more

Every time I have gone to Micro Center the staff have been super helpful and knowledgeable. They listen to me and give me options to solutions. I am not the most tech savvy person, but they take the time to explain to me so that I can understand. read more

I approached this micro center year and a half ago, it has all the equipment someone requires to build a pc. I went to purchase all the parts from this place most pieces were on high-end and I ended up with 2-year warranties. I walked in today to exchange a pair of headsets and I had a hard time negotiating with the guy in the knowledge section who told me that he would give me a code for me to be able to exchange a perfectly fine pair of headsets for a newer one. I had waited some time after the guy got back to prior to him saying he would process the service to replace the headsets he gave me a reason that made no sense. No efforts but said the item needs to be damaged to be replaced. Not only did I end up wasting money on the warranty parts but ended up not only wasting my time but not following up with any reason as to why I can't replace them. He has no little manners or respect for this misconduct deal. Misleading and have no respect for their own customers. I should return and sell back my whole set up just to prove a point on how bad i was treated for the amount of money they got from me read more

Best place in the area for computer necessities. Great customer service and variety of computers

I came in with little to no knowledge about computer building. But the people there really helped me out. If the option for the part I wanted wasn't there, they offered an alternative. They gave me suggestions and didn't seem bothered helping me. Just be respectful. read more

I came in for service on my PC. Worse experience ever. He looked at me with a look that said I can't do anything for you before I even got to the table. Proceeded to tell me exactly that the entire time. Did not once look at my computer. Told me to wait a week and see what's wrong. After this terrible experience, I was charged a diagnostic fee and had to be on the phone an hour just to get my money returned, via check. Which means I need to wait. Will never come to your store again. Been a customer since 2012! I promise to never shop there again! read more

Suffers from the same defect every Micro Center does - they always have the exact number of cashiers to ensure you're queing for eternity. If you think about it, it really is quite remarkable. They continuously, dynamically respond to customer load, taking away personnel at an inverse rate. I bet they have a server farm in the back calculating the exact number of cashiers necessary for ideal frustration. Maybe that's what the display computers are for. They never seem to work right, probably too busy with all that math. Likely there's a lot of maintenance too - switching out ram sticks, adding media, constant software tweaks - which would explain why all the employees look so very tired! Not to mention their apathetic, unhelpful personalities and general scarcity. Yes, there's definitely a double mission going in here. You gotta pay somehow, and time it's money. I'd recommend an alternative, but with CompUSA long gone they're the only game in town. Go shop Newegg or something, whatever. read more

Really surprised at the poor reviews here. Way better to buy computers and laptops than the dis-service found at Geek Squad or the related. People are nice. Good sales. The lines suck but it's crowded for a reason. read more

Used to come here a lot back in the day when I lived in town and used to build/customize my own desktop computers. They had all the accessories and parts I would typically only find online. Today I was in town visiting friends and decided to stop by and pick up a phone mount for my car. Check out was quick but not easy. The cashier was a little pushy when it came to getting name and information which I happily declined to give. I don't live near anymore and don't need all the junk mail they used to send to my old address. As for the store it felt small, cramped and unorganized. Not because the store is small but because there is literally merchandise everywhere; boxes piled up in the middle of the floors, aisles and corners. It gives the store an unorganized look. Check out the pictures from other Yelpers and you will see what I mean. Also the store is a bit tricky to navigate. Luckily I had a nice attendant nearby who could help me with questions, but even he seemed lost. Also shelves were not properly stocked. There was a ton of opened products just thrown around but despite the store was really busy. MicroCenter still differentiates from other stores like BestBuy by offering customers different variety of selections but not a better experience. I'd come here again if I want something specific but would not make it my got to store. My suggestion for MicroCenter is to clean up the clutter and organize the shelves better. This will give it a more appealing and overall better customer experience. read more

Aside the 3.25% sales tax on all electronics, this is one dope DMV location. Don't get me wrong, the people are just as ugly and the line is just as long, but look at all the amazing things they sell. Do you want a surge protector that supports 4500 Joules? That's a pretty nice Pulp Fiction reference. How about a CPU fan with several RPM settings? Glow in the dark usb hub? Awesome. Checkout all the junk food as you wait in the checkout line. Who needs a 711? But seriously, I need to renew my license. read more

Mike's Bottom line. One of the best places to get your tech toys that offers good deals , and one of the only places to get good prices and good selection on parts if you know how to build your own PC. But over the years the service has gone really down hill , if you want a laptop or PC avoid anytime it might even remotely be busy cause you need a staff member to help you and they are always swamped. Full Review I have been coming here for years and its still one of my favorite stores, I like to upgrade my own PCs and help friends build great PCs or build them for people for a good price and you really cant beat the price of buying all the parts and building it yourself you really get a lot of bang for you buck!! I am familiar with the layout and where everything is but every time i go in these days i more or less help myself and try to get out , but the lines at check out are always too long. When ever i go there for anything other than parts or items I already know that I'm looking for finding someone to help me find stuff is really hard. Especially if i go to buy a laptop. Most the people in that section wander around , there is no seeming order to the chaos , just try to grab the guy when he is done with one person. They don't care that you have been waiting for 20 minutes for them when that really push guy/girl comes up and grabs them after just walking in. Getting help in the PC/Laptop section is like pulling teeth. Overall good competitive prices , good selection , fun to look around and see everything but customer service has really tanked and their website is always wrong with in store inventory . (You would think a company that sells tech would be more up to date on their own tech ,inventory and databases). read more

Micro Center could easily earn three (3) Stars if management only paid attention to the reviews posted on YELP. After many visits to the Paterson store, I find the identical problems that many Yelpers have written about on this site remaining unchanged. First, I can't fault Micro Center for their wide selection of products. We, as shoppers, however, occasionally require the assistance of a customer service rep, many of which work on the floor. It should be obvious to the staff that many of us are hunting for a specific product and, when we're seen doing this, the staff simply walks (quickly) away in another direction. Additionally, if a staff person does offer to help, it appears that they are only interested in placing their little ID sticker on your purchase to document to management that they somehow assisted you in the sale; perhaps they receive some sort of commission for doing so. During one visit, I picked up a small package of photo paper. The floor person could not get the sticker on the product fast enough while I was inquiring if a less expensive version was available. I then found the less expensive version after I was advised to "look around" to find it. Clearly, the floor person saw me return the first choice to the shelf (with the sticker) and could care less about placing another sticker on my final choice! The check-out experience is one that prevented me from assigning 3 Stars to this store and one that I never look forward to when shopping there. The line grows long very quickly; the manager is alwyas seen talking up a storm with the security person at the door; the check-out staff continues to question each customer as if they are applying for a job. Hey...here's my credit card, here is my cash, I do not want to answer personal questions.....! This part of the check-out process is annoying and not found at other retail operations. Hopefully, Regional Management and Operations will read these comments and take action to correct their problems. If I were the CEO and were aware of the comments found on YELP, I would be visiting the Paterson store right away! read more

The customer service here sucks and needs major improvement. During my 2nd to last visit, I walked around for about 25 minutes looking for an available associate and NOT ONE soul asked me if I needed help. When I finally found the area of the store I was looking for and when there was someone around I could ask for help, they were preoccupied with other customers. I decided to go back another time to check for the product I was looking for. During my last visit, I made another attempt to use my $25 coupon before it expired. Again, there was no one to help me and when someone finally came by, he could not offer me any help and continued with his customer. Another customer and I started to talk about the lack of service we were receiving and she agreed that it was horrible. I just left. Coming here is waste of time unless you know exactly what you're looking for, know where to find it and have no questions about anything. read more

So I bought the nano leaf canvas from Micro Center in Patterson New Jersey. When i opened the package, each panel already had the sticky tape to the back of it and it was difficult to get each panel off of each other. I was not certain why it was like this. Then, I spent a couple hours of trying to connect to my wifi with the pairing process with no success. After awhile, I decided to check out a youtube unboxing of the canvas. The video showed that the panels should NOT have tape on the back of the panels, and the tape should have been separated in the box for me to apply. So Micro Center put an open box item on the shelf and did not list the item as that, making me think I bought a brand new unopened item. Now I have to drive back, 1 hour and a half distance to return this. This is my 2nd bad experience with micro center in Patterson New Jersey. The first experience, I ordered items online for pickup and when I went to pick them up, they told me they were out of stock. Once again, driving 1 hour and a half for items I bought online for in-store pickup. I would not recommend going to Micro Center in Patterson New Jersey. read more

I don't care how good their deals are or the lower sales tax, there is no way in HELL I would ever step foot in this place again. "18 minute pick up" = LOL, we'll see. Maybe 18 minutes, maybe 118 minutes, whatevs, no rush. Hey, do you want this other item you didn't order that is our store brand instead since we can't find your actual item? 1 star because I thought I was gonna drive my car through this store. *Another star because the guy actually did apologize for how long it took to pick up the items. This place is great and horrible! What I mean by great is that the store has a lot of items that you won't find at Best Buy and more than likely wouldn't normally come across. They carry a large array of computers, consumer electronics, peripherals, and accessories. Usually pretty clean. Here's where the place starts to get annoying. The staff is either hit or miss. You either get a genius or a know-nothing. Also when it's busy and you need something that requires keys it maybe really hard to find someone. Everyone is on commission so they are constantly pushing add-ons and extended warranties. Don't try calling ahead to put something on hold, verify stock, or basic questions. No one picks up. The Knowledge Bar is there take on Apples Genius Bar, but a lot more useful. You can ask questions relating to products sold in store. It usually queued up by older folks trying figure out how to use there DVRs and Keurig's. Don't be this person! When the place is busy, the cashier lines are INSANE! The store always seems understaff and customers are constantly looking for help. The location sucks. It's on the outskirts of Paterson on part of Route 20 that has been under roadwork for 2-3 years. Traffic sucks getting in and out. The Passaic River is behind it so no way in that way. It would be better served if another location was on Paramus's Route 17 or Riverdale's Route 23. The main walkways are cluttered to hell with products and displays so much so that it creates a cramped atmosphere and forget about getting from one side to the other when it's busy. Personally, I try not to go here because I hate the crowds, panhandlers in the parking lot, and the general clientele the store attracts can be very rude as result of the long waits. I stick to online stores mostly like Amazon, New Egg, Tiger Direct, OWC, etc. My bottom line is this place is better then Staples, Office Depot, or Best Buy if you need a computer. If your ignorant about this stuff it's a better place to shop then most. However, if looking to get in and out in a hurry, unless it's the mornings, don't count your luck on it. read more

Service is awful. Seems like everyone is annoyed when I ask them a simple question. Everything is rushed but yet it takes forever to find someone to grab something from the back for me. Nobody knows about financing other than the cashiers. Only reason this place gets one star is due to the fact that they have good prices and stock. I will much rather go to a different store and go through them price matching then have to deal with the service at micro center. read more

This is like a radio Shack on roids. Gray products and the store is really nice. Want to build a computer thisis the place to do it. The staff is nice and the store is well organized. This store also has 3.5 % tax which is awesome. read more

I love this place. Just to get some things out of the way first, the customer service and support here can go either way, with some who know their stuff and others who pretend to (don't be too hard on them, these guys are mostly part-timers, not Apple engineers). There can be long lines and a jam-packed parking lot. Since I'm sometimes looking for rare kinds of cables and adapters, it can also be annoying to search through the dozens of baskets on top of the shelves when they aren't on display. Aside from that, this place has it all. I find myself wandering around the store forever trying to find an excuse to buy something I really don't need. I've purchased everything here: all parts to the PC I built (which I saved about half-off of regular retail price due to the 3.5% sales tax, rebates, & sale prices). I've gotten online-streaming surveillance cameras, printers, speakers, laptops, peripheral PC equipment, PC games, the whole 9 at this location. They have an in-store PC part selection and warranties that Best Buy can't top. Then there is the convenience of shopping for your equipment in person rather than risking the potential of an online ordering mistake at New Egg or Amazon, plus they match New Egg prices. I highly recommend if you are looking to buy PCs, laptops, or rare electronic parts and gadgets. I also think this store is a MUST for anyone trying to build their own PC. If not to buy, then at the very least to shop around and check out. read more

Another terrible experience I live in the neighborhood so unfortunately I come here often and the staff is usually unwilling to help and for the third time I'm leaving empty-handed I think this is the last time I'm ever going back I'll just have drive to anywhere else. I would only recommend going here if you know what you want or are a tech geek, customer service at this place is on par to going to a chines take out and taking too long to order, you will be pushed to the side and ignored..... If you're lucky enough to find what ur looking for and its in stock this place is great, otherwise save yourself the time and buy elsewhere. My main complaint is the checkout /customer service, the cashiers need some training in dealing with customers. After spending 100's of dollars on computer products,at least you would like to be greeted with a "hello" or a thank you .... Of witch i didnt get neither, they seem to be too busy talking amonst themselves to say a simple "thank you". Not cool If you dont mind rudeness this could be good place to shop read more

I came here to buy some RAM for my 2009 macbook pro and it was extremely easy. As soon as I walked in (to the right) I typed my name so that I can speak to someone at the help desk and I waited for about 5 minutes. The guy who helped me was very knowledgeable and researched the appropriate RAM I needed to buy for my laptop (he searched it using my laptop's serial number), then printed it out, and pointed me in the right direction to have some floor reps help me out. I ended up buying two 4 gig sticks for $60 and some tools to open up my macbook (screw drivers) for 3.99 which was pretty cheap. If you don't want to replace the RAM yourself - they also have techs there that will do it for you ($30 service charge) - that day I would've had to wait for an hour for them to do that for me. Overall - I really like this store. I have to say that Micro Center is like the equivalent of Home Depot for computer/electronics which is awesome!! If you don't want to order your parts online definitely check this place out. One annoying thing though is that they don't have enough floor reps - I had to seriously search and try to find one that was either free or just around to help me. read more

I had a great experience with microcenter apple technical support, knowledge bar. Pros: The only thing this place has going on is its cheaper then other places... if not I would never go here! I just get flash-drives here. Cons: Most of the stuff is outdated/refurbished items, bums asking for a handout in the parking lot, MORE people (scammers) in the parking lot trying to sell candy... AND my number one complaint is I DO NOT WANT TO GIVE YOU MY NAME (or info) WHEN I"M PAYING CASH!!!!! When they ask me my name I don't say anything... and they ask like 10 times... after the first couple of times of asking for my name and I DO NOT SAY ANYTHING,GET THE HINT!!!!!! This past Monday 7/21/14...the cashier (had the attitude, but not as big as mine). She kept on asking me for my name, I said nothing, then she said I need your name (very loud), I said I'm paing cash and you don't need anything else! She said " you could have said that", I said, I don't have to say anything... I give you cash and you give me my item!! Then she said "you don't have to be so rude", I said, I don't work here, and after the first few times you asking me you would have figured this out". AND they always ask you for your info after they take your money, and before you get your change!!!!! MicroCenter STOP ASKING FOR MY INFO... I DO NOT WANT TO BE A PART OF YOUR MARKETING!!!! Good products and usually good service and floor staff is usually helpful, but the store manager with his blue blazer walks around with a lousy attitude and acts as if customers should be thanking him just for his presence. -- Most of the time the manager is just wandering around doing nothing and then when he is called for help, he seems annoyed by it.
