I decided to come here to replace my graphics card (Rtx2070 to Rtx4070). I used to do it myself, but I figured I would get it professionally done since I have not done it in a while. In the process, they accidentally shattered my glass cover. I am waiting to see what they will do to resolve this issue. They told me to return in a couple of hours and that they would take care of me. It is always an adventure. So far, I have given three stars. Most of the tech-minded workers there were actually really pleasant to deal with. A lot of them just wanted to chat about video games and help however they could. But there was one lady working who basically acted like the "line police," making sure everyone moved as quickly as possible. She was overly persistent and honestly just a huge hassle. At one point, the staff had set aside some computer parts at the cashier so we could pay for them. They were clearly marked as part of a four-item purchase, labeled "1 of 4." Despite that, she came over and started snatching parts away to take to the back, insisting that anything left on the shelf needed to be removed. We had to stop her and explain that most of those items were ours. Her response? "Oh, which ones?"--even though it was clearly labeled. Long story short, after finally purchasing everything and heading to the car, I checked the receipt. Sure enough, one of the items we wanted wasn't listed--and wasn't given to us. Luckily, we didn't get charged for it, but now we'll have to order it on Amazon instead, because I'm not going back to that store just to deal with her again. Honestly, she needs to stop rushing people. I understand wanting the line to move smoothly, but the other workers were focused on good customer service and making the experience enjoyable. Although they are a nationwide retailer, the Paterson location is the only one in New Jersey and we are pleased to share that they are dog friendly and love when their furry customers visit the store. Located right off of Route 20, their location has reduced sales tax at 3%, so you save a lot in addition to the great prices of their electronics. We visited for a motherboard and memory to build a custom PC and received friendly help from a staff member at the Build Your Own desk and all the employees throughout the store were willing to assist and loved saying hello to Brie. You can order online and some of the best deals are when you buy in-person at the store. Dogs must be well behaved and leashed. We went there and was amazed at the size of the place and the volume of product. I need to praise this store properly. After being on the phone with apple for a good while, went though 2 CSR's to prove that, yes, my MacBook battery was indeed bad. It does in fact not hold a charge, and needs to be replaced, but apple wants $250 just for the battery, and they want me to send my laptop in to be worked on. Nope. Local is best. I was referred to Micro Center, which is just down the road, as the closest Apple Service center. Never been before, but I'd driven by hundreds of times. Coincidentally I'd just received a flyer in the mail for a free flash drive, so off I went. Took only a few minutes to chat with a repair person. They agreed that the best route was to talk to sales to buy the part. Walked over to sales and was greeted in a friendly way. They said they didn't have the part in stock but that ordering online was a good option. He helped me find the correct item with a smile. Now that's good customer service! Did a lap around the store to check out new laptop pricing, just in case. Saw lots of potential ways to upgrade my current electronics. The store is nicely stocked. Headed to the front and waited a couple of minutes for the next cashier. Picked up a pretty spring yellow "Micro Center" 128gb USB flash drive and was on my way. I had a serious issue with a computer I need for my job and was at the end of my rope trying to fix it on my own when I finally decided to take it to Micro Center in Paterson. Someone there will ALWAYS be able to help you with whatever issue you have. In this case an AMAZING salesman named Jorge Verdejo came thru in the clutch. As I was stressing out not knowing what to do next, he calmly took a few moments to make my computer perform better than it has in months AND fix the issue I needed fixed. Spent over 1k this weekend (probably 2k if you include like since Oct/Nov). This time around around, heard your open box items were great from some YouTubers (guess I'm never following them again!). You gave me 2 bad boxes of the x670e MSI tomahawk. The first one had bad pins. Kudos to my friend manning the pickup desk yesterday AM; called out the CPU pins looked back so I was told to go into the back where someone would help me in the Mobo section. No one helped me in the mobo section. I took the only other box that was open box and it took to the back. I took what parts I could from both (assumed they were complete as they were labeled as such). I've been spending the past hour or so putting to together when I realized there were still missing parts. I reached out to online support since there is no way to reach you; no call and looks like you are closed now. Upon closer review, it looks like you gave me the wrong item too LOL. I've been a customer since your opening in 2007/2008. And you did just a poor job you've lost my business for good; good job. I truly believe the 2.5 average star rating is a misrepresentation of the actual overall performance from this location. To begin with, I am not a very tech savvy person. However, I always wanted to be apart of "that group" that can articulately speak to building their first PC. From debating opinions on performance options to walking through trouble shooting needs. I watched videos on YouTube and read guides from google but I didn't truly grasp the concept until I went to this MicroCenter. My experience was. . . interesting. We came in to use their $150 "Computer building" service and I was surprised by an additional hidden $50 fee for "Diagnostics" We were told that despite a straightforward simple air cooled build as it was on their website, it could take as long as Two days. Why is the hidden fee not mentioned on the website so customers can know what they can expect? Then I went to look at phone cases as I needed one, I asked a younger man for help as I couldn't find what I was looking for and the first words out of his mouth was "What up baby?" This is the people they hire? While I like the fact that they have many computer components, I did not find that response at all professional or warranted. HORRIBLE experience in the Paterson location. I purchased high end computer parts for a custom built computer, and paid an additional fee to have the techs build it there. Picked up the computer the next day when it was ready (way over the 4 hour window that is advertised). We got home, unpacked the computer to notice that the computer parts had plastic on them which could decrease the longevity of the expensive parts, and may be hazardous. There was plastic near the motherboard, on the graphics card.. etc... really they couldn't take another minute to remove all the plastic from the parts...... We went to the store to complain as a fan wasn't working either. I spoke to MICHAEL the manager and tried to express my concerns. He was rude, loud, and unprofessional. I asked him if there was another manager that I can speak to as no apology, or no solution was rendered. He said that he was the highest person there. I mentioned that I would than have to express my concerns/complain to the corporate office, he told me that he called all of the shots (which may be the case). We walked away from that, and proceeded to the techs to get the fan looked at, the computer was checked, the cables were tightened as they were left loose, and the fan wasn't working because it wasn't connected properly... keep in mind they built my computer a week ago. We get home, and now the fan is running uncontrollably, we call, and come to find out the fan was connected wrong AGAIN. If I can give this place 0 stars I would, as I think 1 star is too good for the experience that I had. Save yourself the time, money, and aggravation! read more

The store and Reps in the store are great, no problem there. The problem happens when you get home. There is NO TELEPHONE NUMBER to contact the store. This is ridiculous! I had an issue with the registering for my HP Instant Ink because they did not activate my card upon check out. The Rep on chat support told me I had to go back to the store to talk with a manager! I could not go back to store! A call to fix the activation with the store would have been simple but I wound up on the phone with HP Support for an hour and half! For a business not to have a telephone is ludicrous and quite frankly, infuriating! Will never shop here again! People don't have time for this nonsense! read more

This store is Huge and stocks a ton of merchandise so it can be alot to handle at first but I find the sales staff to be pretty helpful as long as you have some idea of what you're looking for. They must deal with alot of dbs so if you're cool with them they'll reciprocate. I don't always like to purchase sight unseen. Not everything is comfortably purchased online, especially the large ticket items. When's the last time you can touch and feel your electronics amongst some very technical support folks? You can do that here. Not as many options in this area but this store does that. The only issues here are when it's crowded and there are more customers than support folks to wait on them. Otherwise, everyone here tends to aim to help. They'll recognize that you are sometimes visiting for the touch and feel general research, or to get the acclimated point with the product in hand. This is a worthy store to support as it's laid out well, serves the general public in a way that online offerings cannot. Besides, Lowes is also in the next parking lot so you can multi task! read more

I urgently needed a laptop for work. So I go to Microcenter, Paterson NJ and I ased a few salesmen for help. They bring me over to a young man who is joking and laughing with someone. They tell the young man that I need help and he continues to joke and laugh with the other person for at least two or three minutes and ignore me. This obviously began to anger me because I needed help and he had an attitude that I was going to wait until he was damn well ready to help me. When he finally did help me, he went to the back to check for something and never returned. So I walked out. I have shopped at Microcenter for the past twenty years but never again. read more

My partner and I live near this specific Microcenter and we love building our computers and getting upgrades. Through the years, we have a reoccurring issue with the fact that we purchase a product (our tv, graphics card, new headset, etc) we speak to the sales person about warranty and they give you a card to bring to the cashier. The cashier's NEVER add in our warranty. Not to mention, we have had several products we have had to return (not blaming Microcenter for a manufacturing issue) such as our mic stand and mic only to find out we had 0 warranty on it. We always have to remind the person up front and question them about warranty no matter who it is that day working at the cashier. It's shocking to me how it's not automatically offered to every person. I would say 90% of our purchases there are over $100 and an item eligible for warranty. It's understandable that we as the customers should remember on our own and ask as well - but you would think if I come to the register with the warranty card from the sales rep, they would honor it. I complain about the warranty because they are NOT easy on returns. Anytime we have to return or bring a product back, we have to read them the fine print on the receipt because without warranty, it's war to return an item here. If you are going to purchase a product the review would be 4/5, the sales reps approach you, they help, they are educated about the products, they absolutely want to sell you an item. However, the check out and return processes are not up to par. For that, this place gets a 2/10 from us and we are actively looking for a new store to grow and build our gaming set ups at. We don't appreciate putting so much $ into a place and being treated like we're in the wrong when we say a product is giving us an issue or not working as advertised. Everything for us is trial and error / a learning process - so if we expected an item to work a specific way and it does not, we expect to be able to bring it back and discuss other options with a sales rep with no issues or arguments. Especially if we are within the allowed return time frame as well as have a receipt. read more

My story is quite a long one but I'll keep it as short as possible: I made MAJOR mistake and returned a motherboard with my nearly $300 ssd m.2 hard drive still attached under the heat sink on the board. I returned the board Friday 12/15 and didn't realize until Sunday 12/17. The problem was micro center had already sent the board back RTV to their dist center on Saturday 12/16. After a few phone calls and emails, less than 24 hours later Michael from the Paterson store called and informed me the distribution center in OH located the board in the warehouse! They said they'll have it in a few days and wcall me to pick it up. I want to thank Michael and the team at MicroCenter. They went above and beyond, especially during their busiest time of the year. I really owe them. I've been a MC customer for 2 decades and will continue to shop there for all my electronics and computer parts. Edit: Just back back home from MicroCenter. Unfortunately, Micro Center/Paterson believes that customers are allowed to be abused by sales reps, and has little to no standard for hiring its sales reps, let alone any mechanism for dealing with their misconduct. On top of this, Micro Center permits and indeed encourages hate-based discrimination against customers by sales reps on the basis of demographics they apparently don't wish to serve, which is not only illegal, but beyond disgraceful. How badly can a customer be treated at Micro Center/Paterson? Could you imagine asking what the final price would be on a computer you wanted to buy, including the base price plus sales tax and any add-on fees that might exist, and being rudely replied to as follows by the sales rep: "You can figure it out yourself!" "Can't you add the sales tax to the price?!!" and, "If you can't figure it out by yourself, then you can see the final price at the register when they ring you up!" I've dealt with a few bad sales reps in my life, but this disrespectful treatment takes the cake. Why even bother having sales reps at this store, if a simple question about pricing provokes such a nasty, insulting, hateful response? I took the time to report the incident to a supervisor, but the sales rep found his actions and my reporting them to be amusing, and had a good laugh. Refusing to tell a customer what the final price on merchandise will be, beyond the rudeness, amounts to false and deceptive business practices. Perhaps Micro Center corporate can post a sign on the entrance of its Paterson store, and frankly, all its stores, informing the public about which ethnic and other demographic groups it does not wish to sell to, to save us the time and unnecessary degradation. read more
