On August 15, I visited Micro Center because my Lenovo laptop was having issues powering on. I went there specifically because I needed professional assistance. Instead of recommending a diagnostic service, an employee instructed me to purchase a replacement battery from a third party and bring it back for installation. Trusting their expertise, I followed those instructions. After spending my own money and waiting for the part, I returned to have it installed, only to discover that the laptop still wasn't functioning properly. I was then informed that I needed a different battery costing approximately $230. My biggest frustration is that proper diagnostics were never recommended during my initial visit. Had the situation been handled differently from the beginning, I could have avoided wasting so much time and money. After explaining my concerns, a service supervisor named James offered to reduce the replacement battery's price by $100. I appreciated this gesture and felt we were finally reaching a reasonable resolution. However, I later received a phone call informing me that the service manager had overridden the discount and that I would have to pay the full price. What truly crossed the line was being told to "kick rocks" and take my business elsewhere if I wasn't satisfied. I was shocked by how disrespectfully the situation was handled. No customer seeking help should be spoken to that way. After nearly two months of dealing with this issue, I've spent money unnecessarily, made multiple trips, and still don't have a properly functioning laptop. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I simply wanted the business to acknowledge what happened and offer a fair solution. I've decided to take my laptop elsewhere rather than continue doing business with a company that handled my concerns this way. I strongly recommend that anyone considering Micro Center's repair services ask for a complete diagnostic assessment and written confirmation of recommended repairs before purchasing any parts. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my opinion of Micro Center, and I cannot recommend their service department based on how I was treated.

We recently started having problems with the computer a few days ago, and didn't understand what could have been causing it. The computer is barely used, and because we've had issues with our prior computers with viruses, we've made sure to be extra careful of downloads, etc. We decided to take the computer back to P C Warehouse to see if they could check it out. Mike (salesman, manager, owner, not really sure what his title is) initially sold us the computer. He was there when we went to take it in to be checked. He stated that he would need to keep it and run tests to see what the problem could be. He stated that he wasn't sure if it was a Hardware issue or a Software issue. He also stated that Software issues were not covered under warranty. We asked if we could wait, and he said no it would be best if we left it, and they would call us when they found out what the problem was. So because we knew that Software issues were not covered under warranty, we specifically asked to be contacted before any work was done if Software was an issue. He stated that they would call us and let us know. However, we get a call today 7/28/11 stating that the computer was ready, and it would be a charge of $50 because it was a software issue. We get to the store, and Mike proceeds to tell us that it was a software issue and that they went ahead and fixed it. We then stated to him that we requested to be called before any work was done if costs were going to be incurred. Mike then became very RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL! He even began to raise his voice! I was appalled by his actions!! I couldn't believe that he would really handle a consumer that way! Not to mention he was at fault! When we realized what he actually did, it was something we could have done ourselves! He stated that the motherboard software was missing, but he didn't know how. We didn't do anything to it! I don't believe it was ever a software issue, I believe it was a hardware issue(covered under warranty), but he was just trying to make a quick buck. When I received the phone, I noticed that under warranty it said "Expired." Then I entered the phone's serial # in the Apple Coverage website and it said: "We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced." This means that the phone had been an Apple replacement phone and the phone that was being replaced was never sent to Apple. So the replacement phone loses its warranty and will not be serviced by Apple - even for paid service.
