I stepped on my laptop and had to get the screen replaced. While the job was done in a timely manner, I got it back with a few dead pixels and white spots. Not a major thing, just slightly annoying. I've bought some parts here too, but go in knowing what you're looking for because help is few and far between. read more

I have bought a couple of laptops from here in the past. I'm leaving the review here and now because I just went through a video card crisis. I purchased an Nvidia card here and suffered through troubleshooting it (not Micro Center's fault). I'm very good with computers, but the Nvidia card is absolute trash (not defective... just a bad product). I was thankful that Micro Center provides a technical support line for purchases so that I could bounce some troubleshooting ideas off of them. Nvidia support was next to useless. Anyway, I could not get the Nvidia card to function properly without crashing every 5 minutes, so I gave up and took it back. They helped me exchange it, and I found the new video card that I wanted to exchange for. The new video card apparently did not come with a low profile bracket since my computer is a slimline tower, but Micro Center staff went above and beyond and took out a bracket from another card and even assembled the bracket for me at the front counter for free. I was very impressed. They didn't give me the second bracket I needed for the VGA adapter, but I went over to Fry's and bought a $5 bracket kit. Now, my video card is running A-okay, and I love it (I despise Nvidia now.). I got a $30 discount on the new card because the box was open, and it's great. It was exactly the one I wanted (It's pretty, too... if I might add). Mind you, I got this level of customer service without spending $100's there. It's a $60 video card. I would give Micro Center 5 stars, but I feel like the original sales associate should have talked with me more about the Nvidia card that sucked and found out what I needed better and could have been more informed on the problems Nvidia video card drivers have (Nvidia = absolute garbage... Was really impressed with Microcenter. I bought an LG OLED TV 35 months ago and I purchased the Microcenter extended warranty. The TV died a couple days ago, so I called it in and was told I still had 2 weeks left on the warranty. I was told that they won't fix that model so bring it in for a full refund. I thought there would be more of a fight since I only had 2 weeks left in the warranty period, but they honored it with no questions asked. read more

I've used this Microcenter location multiple times since 2003 when buying my first Macintosh and they gave a round of applause when someone bought a new computer. Macs have gotten worse but the store stays the same. They don't give applause anymore, but that's fine as I don't need the attention. And the appearance is more than satisfactory for me. It's a large store and I don't need them spending money on aesthetics that I may notice and not like, when they can save me money on product. Can't stand the over organized chaotic restraint of Apple stores nor the pretentious sales people. Yeah, they have some issues with not enough and or less than eager to help staff, but any store I've been to in my life has those issues. Plus, the economy is not the best, so they probably cut back on staff at times. They've had a bad problem with answering phones as long as I can remember. The best staff are the cashiers, repair desks personnel, Ruth and Scott in the Apple area and Carl, the best Apple technician I've used and he's repaired almost every Mac I've owned. Ready to bring another to him before the warranty runs out. Simply Mac, in Macon, has tried twice to fix it. Apple engineers are looking into it's problems. I'm sure Carl can fix it or tell me it's best to have Apple send me a replacement. Never had anyone try to up sell me. I know what I want and what I need (most of the time). Just need to know where it is sometimes. I've been to the Duluth location twice (10+ yrs ago), but the Apple dept. was barely there, same for knowledgeable Apple sales persons. So I'll still drive a couple hundred miles to Carl for repairs and Ruth and Scott for sales When I'm up that way. read more

This store sold my 70 year old father a $2,400 laptop that can't even copy/paste. The manager offered to "look at it", but why would we want someone to troubleshoot something that works on 99.99% of pcs with no issue, much less a high end one. As far as I'm concerned this is bordering on fraud towards the elderly. Fortunately they baited my father into an overpriced warranty as well, so they will likely take it back, but without one we'd likely be screwed with a $2,400 brick. Most of these other reviews seem crazy! Boring? Do you want cheap computer stuff or a nightclub? Don't like it? Go to Computer City or CompUSA. Oh, that's right...they are out of business. This is the last dedicated computer store and I am so happy it is near me. Where else can you get 50 CD's for $5. I have many Apple computers and their Mac department is also great. Some staff have been there 15+ years. Sure some of the new people don't know a CPU from an STD, but that is true anywhere. Go online, learn about what you want or need- and go pick it up. If it does work out- take it back. Try that at one of those little asian computer stores. I do not like their new "one line" system for waiting to check out, but whatever, they are the last of the computer super stores. read more

I purchased a laptop from the Marietta, GA, store and was given neither a paper receipt or paper extended warranty. There was no problem taking my money, however. I have tried on three separate occasions to contact the store by telephone and was put on hold for a minimum of 45 minutes each. The store is an hour and a half from my office and (with the exception of one person) were both ignorant and hostile. I do not appreciate the overt racism exhibited by the "knowledge experts" but they apparently know that corporate cannot be reached for complaints. For anyone looking for a quality shopping experience, this is NOT the place to find it. I will have to drive out to the store and take this up in person which does not amuse me. While there are good price points on merchandise, your choice of hiring "knowledge experts" who are neither is appalling. I give the experience a NEGATIVE 10 STARS. read more

Brick and mortar electronic stores have taken a beating over the last decade as Amazon, B&H and even Walmart carve out customers out of their bottom line. Microcenter has stuck around and is still kicking. For pure convenience or out of sheer necessity you can't beat popping in and grabbing a part you need ASAP. If you can wait a day, however, it will be cheaper getting it online every time. Last time I found myself buying a LC - FC optical cable for a circuit install that I needed that day - $30 for a part I found online for $5. That's what these guys have to do to pay for the real estate and stay in business. read more

I have typically at microcenter because of their great deals and selection, but my most recent experience was the worst. There was a product I was interested in, but saw it cheaper almost everywhere else. So I asked if they do price matching. They told me they do even if the product needs to be shipped. After driving to Microcenter I picked up my item and at checkout they say they do not do price matching unless the product is on the Shelf in another store. This was extremely frustrating and a total waste of my time. read more

Crooks, crooks, crooks. They lie to you with a smile on their face. Their sales people will insist you have everything you need, everything is compatible, and its total bull. When i was forced to do multiple exchanges and returns due to incompatibility issues the managers excuse was "they encourage upselling of items to customers" and implied that ALL retail stores do this using dishonesty to sell a product "that is what upselling is". That is just the beginning. I got a bad motherboard, DOA right out of the box. When i began to tell the manager how i discovered this dead motherboard, he insisted that because in one of the ram slots i did not install the ram all the way in the socket (trying to be gentle) that i must have fried the motherboard and then hung up on me. I got to the three audible beeps to inform me that the ram was not installed so if i fried the motherboard according to what he said how would i have gotten the audible beeps to inform me. The problem was the motherboard had a dead HDMI port. I was unable to use DVI because i dont have DVI cables and this was just a total insult on my intelligence as i am an engineer. To add insult to injury, when i became irritated with the products and their service i went to return the items. The way they did the transaction was far more complicated than it needed to be eventhough I paid with one credit card. I soon discovered later why that happened. Microcenter likes to steal from its customers because their policy clearly states that refunds are given in the way they are paid. By me paying by way of credit card, everything should have been refunded to the credit card but it was not. The cost of my power supply was left out of the return, i did not even receive a copy of the receipt that stated the return of my power supply. I then find out through a phone call trying to figure this out that the power supply had been returned for cash 4 minutes after i was no longer in the store and the manager named Ashley that i spoke to said she still needs to talk to her manager and investigate this further. Now if i didnt get the receipt or money then who do you think got it? BEWARE, THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS YOU ARE BETTER OFF SHOPPING WITH BEST BUY (AND IM NOT A FAN OF THEIRS) OR FRY'S. I'm pretty sure they work on commission because they put stickers on the things they help you with, which makes me so surprised to see that no one was jumping to help when I was needed it. I scheduled an appointment to discuss a POSSIBLE repair on my desktop, which I wasn't 100% sure if it needed repair. When I scheduled the appointment, it gave me a 20 minute slot for the appointment to talk with an associate, I just had some questions about my computer. When I arrived, was treated like I was a moron for bringing my device in for assistance. First, the employee who "greeted" me did not even ask for my name in regards to the appointment, and proceeded to try and "herd" myself and brother away from where we were standing, exactly where the lines had been placed trying to figure out who I needed to talk to about my appointment. He told me that if I dropped it off today (the 3rd), they would "call me about it" on the 9th, so no one would even look at it until then- although the website said I'd be able to talk to someone now about my issue, not be told I have to wait a fucking week to just discuss the problem- which probably didn't even need a repair! I attempted to ask about my appointment, when he interrupted me and said "well there's a lot of people like you who are taking on projects they can't handle and that's why there's a long wait", as if I was an imbecile and it was my fault I don't have access to the resources I need to run diagnostics to determine what needs to be fixed. Overall, terrible service, terrible experience, very disorganized, rude, awful customer service-I will never go back. read more

Okay this place may be "boring" like some other reviewers have noted, but however they do have a large selection for all of your computer/electionic needs. They even have an Apple section where you can buy all the iPod and MAC accessories you can imagine. The service is hit or miss, sometimes I've gotten a knowledgeable person who immediately directed me to what I was looking for, and sometimes I've wandered around the floor for so long just looking for someone to help me. At peak business times (I've yet to really figure those out) the checkout line can get REALLY long which is a headache. But everytime I have checked out the cashier has always been very nice and friendly. The prices are not bad here and they constantly have clearance items (returned I suppose) on deep discounts so you could end up snatching something up at a good deal. In all honesty, I think I'd visit here before going on to Best Buy or Radio Shack. read more

I have purchased 3 laptops and two tablets among other items. Took in my "open box" computer with problems. They said I had to take it to Lenovo. Of course during my 5 times sending to Lenovo, each time my computer was sent, the warranty had expired. I asked Lenovo to replace the computer 3 times. Lenovo was worthless. I now have a computer in worse shape then when it was bought. Unfortunately it can't be used. They manager of Micro Center blamed me. Liars and cheats, we have been sold items that were sold as new but turned out to be demos. And BEWARE if you use APPLE. The Apple staff seem decent, But when we needed assistance from techs, we have had the store tell us the pc techs are apple trained, which is not true. We were given configuring advice that destroyed all the data on our minimac. It took THREE YEARS, but eventually Apple agreed to pay to have the macmini completely overhauled by microcenter. Then the fun really began. You try it. Phone them @ 770-859-1540. They will say to come in person. Now go in person, you will be told to go home and pjone. Go home and phone and you will be put through to a phone that rings 150 times and goes dead, you call back 10 times. Each time you are put through to a different voice mail with a message made a month ago. Don't expect a call bacl. Be persistent. You will finaly reach the manager, and trust me, you would not hire this puddinghead to sweep your floor. She resents dealing with customers, makes no effort to be pleasant or sympathetic, and acts put out becuase you contacted her. Be persistent, because you want to finally be put through to the tech department, where if they pick up the phone at all, they just sit silently on it and refuse to communicate. I don't know if they are all abused by management or mentally ill but trust me, whatevr your problem is, this isn't the place to get it resolved. If you are buying Apple, go to the perimeter store. Check the reviews for the other Atlanta Apple stores and you will see why. There isn't a product Microcenter sells that is worth the grief you' grt if you buy it there. read more

Talk about a fubar of a place! I USE to find the Marietta location very good, however, my past few visits have not been too customer friendly in terms of staff assistance. The most recent is a simple phone call to find-out about a product. I searched their website and did not find a toner cartridge I'm seeking. So, I tried calling the store. Their freakin' voice-recog system is horrible. Not very user-friendly. Finally, after a few attempts, got through to "Missy". Talk about someone with major attitude! Took me almost 5-minutes trying to give, as clear as possible, the product description and item #. She must be deaf! After almost 10-mins, I found I was getting nowhere with her. Between her inability to hear and listen and her non-customer service has now made me put my MC card into a file-folder to forget. Best Buy, Walmart, even Amazon are now my choices. Update 8/6/18: Well, this one just about seals it. I just purchased a refurbed laptop from these bozos, simply 'cuz I "thought" they'd sell something half-way decent. NOT the case. The sales rep, (Greg) had an attitude. Not very impressive. Anyways, he did help and I took a chance with the product. Got it home, loaded it with Office and Eset, got started. Bought this primarily for my son who does online school. Just found out tonight he's having issues with the machine. As a matter of fact, he started having issues the day after buying this piece of c*. Got it 2-days ago and already having issues yet confirmed there's no issues. What makes the situation worse is I tried to get a Chat session. MC's web-site says they're available 'til midnight. Its 9:30-pm. Guess what? They're offline. False advertising of services. Needless to say, I don't know why I go back to this place. Gullible I guess, and they know it. Soo, gotta take the horrible laptop back down there (30-min drive), battle it out with the horrible customer dis-service, try to get a working laptop and the software moved off, or, just get my money back and go to someplace more reliable. I took my computer in for repair and paid for a diagnostics test. The technician told me I needed a new hard drive and did not look at any of the other issues that my computer was having. My computer would not recognize the monitor and the printer. After spending over $500.00, I have a new hard drive and a computer that still does not recognize the printer. I called Micro Center about this and the manager was very nice. When I brought the computer in for repair, the technician took it from me and said nothing was wrong with it. I am a senior and they treated me like I was totally illiterate. Please do not go to this Micro Center for repairs. My printer still is not recognized and I wasted $500.00. I could have hired a teenager for less. read more

Although I'm guessing the same applies to all Microcenters, the only store I've had a major problem with is the Powers Ferry location. Went in looking for a pretty basic hdmi-dvi adapter, and had trouble finding the one I needed. One of the floor staff stepped away from the group weekend conversation & asked "do you need help?' why, yes, thank you! As soon as I described what I was looking for, she said "I don;t think we have those", and rejoined her friends in conversation. Ok, crappy floor peeps. I'll get over it. I give up on the adapter & go grab the keyboard/mouse combo i needed. After a quick wait, I got to the cashier who asked for my home address. I VERY politely said, "I don't do the personal info stuff, just want to buy this". He said "well we have to input something". I said to put in whatever he liked, I just don't want to do the mailing address/phone number/email address thing, just want to pay you (note that I specifically mentioned email), and the very next thing he said was "what's your email address?". I kinda laughed & said 'john@123.com", which REALLY seemed to offend him, so I (again politely) told him I'll just go to Target & happily pay an extra two bucks for the same thing, Get a grip Microcenter, people just want to buy stuff, not become life partners. read more

Had to find a new internal hard dative and heard about this place from a friend. From what i read in the reviews, I wasn't expecting much. The place really has just about anything you need. And the people were actually very helpful. Several of the workers asked me if I need help. But I was able to find what I needed very quickly. Since there are so much in the store, it can seem a bit overwhelming and confusing, but overall, I had a good experience. read more

This place is good if you know what you are doing. The problem is the lapdog staff that will follow you around. Most of them know a decent amount, but they still are commission based and rely heavily on their computers. I could look up stuff too. However, you see the hostility in the first part and wonder why I like it? Easy, it has everything and most of it at good prices. Blank media, cases, etc are cheap as free and they have all components. I've been a fan since its open in the 80s. I will not deny its flaws: old looking store in spite of the dozen remodels, difficult to find help, sometimes long waits at the cashier. The place shines in the merchandise, everything you need from new laptops and desktops, refurbished desktops and laptops, parts to build your own, knowledgeable staff when you do find help, great technical service, adapters of all sizes, all at reasonable prices. It is the cheapest place to get generic hard drives and flash drives. Where else will you go? Best Buy with iffy sales staff, the know nothing Geek Squad and high prices? Radio Shack? Wal-Mart? Not even competition! The comparable competition is newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, amazon.com, all web sites. This is the place for tech gearheads that need stuff NOW, not 3 days from now. read more

Wow, am floored by their poor customer service! A sales assoc. printed off info about a printer for me earlier this month. He said the sale price was good through the end of the month. I go back today (4/28) and another sales assoc (Will) said it was no longer on sale and that the sale price listed on the printout was actually below their cost so they would be losing money. He would not honor their printout. Will got the manager at my request, and whispered something to him. When he walked over to me, I got the impression he couldn't care less. I have NEVER been so disappointed in a place before. My college bound engineering student went to Micro Center in May to purchase what he thought was the perfect for computer for his needs. He spent hours researching the product and was helped by a salesperson who ultimately sold him the $1600 ASUS laptop. Now, 6 months later, while my son is at college, the computer breaks. We rush back to Atlanta and take the computer to this store. We are told that "sorry, we don't work on those computers, you have to send it to California!!!" Good thing we didn't buy an extended warranty. What does Micro Center do with that money?? Pocket it? I have written the corporate office and didn't receive any response. Don't buy anything here if you expect customer service when it doesn't work properly. No way to contact by phone and when you ask for help on their website, you never get a reply. Apple would not honor my warranty, from the date on my receipt. They said my laptop was purchased three months prior to the date on my sales receipt. Asked micro center for help and Never, Never, Never got an answer. Surely, I can drive 25 miles down there only to find the same. So I have 2 EVGA ram that are defective that i bought from this store. Once i registered the product on the EVGA website it says to return to store rma is not available for this product through the EVGA website. So i wrote microcenter on the online chat. The lady told me to bring it into the store. I also told her i am asking cause i live about 2hrs away when traffic hits, therefore didn't want to waste my time. Got there and went to the return section and explained my situation. The lady at the register goes to the back, then a man comes out with instruction and talks to me in an aggressive tone. He was a chubby guy with blondish hair. I didn't try to argue or anything i was just asking them to see if they do the rma since the microcenter online chat says to bring it in. So i took my ram and paperwork and left. Not mad, but i feel like a lesser human because of the way he spoke to me. All i did was read what evga under my product says to do and listened to the microcenter online support chat. Practically wasted gas, time, and my dignity. Thanks microcenter. I have never experienced a more incompetent group of employees EVER. I went to pickup a hard drive that had been sent out for recovery. 2 employees and a manager named Damara Leos (who never came out to speak to me once) left me standing there for 45 minutes because whichever idiot had first entered the service order applied the $450 deposit I'd given them to someone else's account and none of these 3 idiots could figure out either how to correct it or how to give me credit for it so I could pay the remaining balance and go on my way. It took me yelling very loudly for one of the idiot employees to finally come up with a solution. Did the manager ever come out? No. Did any manager or supervisor ever come out? No. Did they offer any apology? No. Think about it, folks, these people can't keep track of a $450 deposit and don't know how to sort through their own computer system. I would give this store a negative number if it was available. After consistent slow response time, crashes, and the occasional uncontrollable mouse, I took my laptop which was purchased in September in for service. I told the tech about the issues I was having and as I was logging into my computer, he asked if I had my receipt. He looked at the receipt and said "I can tell you right now that the processor is the reason for your slow response and there is nothing that I can do about it. I then stated that he had not even looked at my computer. He again repeated that the processor was the reason for my problems and there was nothing he could do (again without even touching my computer). He further stated that I purchased the least expensive computer and would not be able to upgrade it. I have never experienced such pitiful customer service in all my life. Let me also add that my computer currently has 3.83 MB of usable space and had he taken the time he would have known that. I also sent an email to the store online and have yet to receive a response. I will NEVER visit, purchase, or recommend this store to friends, family, or foes. read more

The 34 inch curved 100hz gaming monitors from ASUS & Acer look great and perform well. However, they are known to have quality control problems with noticeable backlight bleed. They are extremely expensive at $1200 but I decided to take the plunge in the hopes of getting a good unit. I don't think it's out of line to expect a perfect unit with minimal backlight bleed that isn't intrusive when viewing movies. Daniel, the manager of Microcenter's Greater Atlanta location, apparently disagrees with me. He was extremely dismissive of my concerns and made it seem like I was wasting his time. He told me I was flagged in their system for exchanging two high-end monitors in a short period of time and talked to me as if I was some criminal. Apparently my photos of the backlight bleed didn't convince him that I may have actually gotten bad units. Instead of listening to my concerns and offering suggestions, Daniel was rude and dismissive. In the end, I just asked for a refund. I'll be taking my money to another retailer who actually appreciates my business and is willing to assist me. read more
