I'm kind of ambivalent about Micro Center. On one hand they have lots and lots of computer accessories and parts for both PC and Mac. I come here when I need something NOW that I can't just walk into a Best Buy or Walmart and get and since Comp USA closed their doors, Micro Center is pretty much the only place left in town to find computer stuff in-store that you have to order and buy online everywhere else and I can conveniently check their inventory on their website and find out if they have what I am looking for before I drive all the way across town to the Tech Center to get it. It also seems that they have a lot of older parts and accessories so they may not be exactly "up-to-date" with the latest models/drivers, etc. That can be both good and bad. It does seem like they have a pretty fair return policy and I have never had a problem returning stuff open-box due to compatibility issues, etc. Their prices can be higher on some things but they do seem willing to price match. So why am I not "geeking out" about Micro Center? Well the truth is, and what Denver really needs is... a Fry's Electronics. It's the Supercenter of computer tech, appliances and all things electronics. Imagine if Fry's came to Denver, it would be some serious competition to Micro Center, and I'd imagine, put them out of business. Frankly, I don't understand why we don't have a Fry's here, especially near the Tech Center/Park Meadows area. Been waiting for one for over 10 years now. Micro Center reminds me that Denver is still just a small cow town. I mean we are finally getting a Trader Joes and we have Ikea but we don't have a Fry's yet? There's just something wrong with that. read more

I love this store! Anytime I need a gift for my kids or husband I know to go to Micro Center! They have the best selection and prices of any computer store and the staff is very knowledgeable! I recently went inn to get everything to build a new gaming computer and the gentleman that helped me was fantastic! He spent almost an hour helping me decide exactly what to get. I will never go to another computer store again! read more

Best place for fans, heat sinks, CPUs, RAM, cases and everything else for building a computer. A Best Buy for IT enthusiasts.

We made the trek here looking for parts to spruce up two computers. Tons of options. The website is great and helped us narrow down the parts that would work with our computers and let us know they were in stock. All of the sales reps on the floor were personable and helpful. Our computer expert guy, Paul helped us save $40 by suggesting a product that could do what we were looking for. Granted, he's probably built 100s of computers. He answered all our questions! No problem! I moved on to the apple section. It's funny how its a doorway to a different world. The guy here promptly walked over and helped me pick out the perfect charger that I needed and I was on my way. Now here's the problem. I was out running errands all day and dealing with people behind counters all day. When I went to check out, we found ourselves dealing with the most rude and obnoxious guy I've encountered in a while. He clearly was ready to go home and he should have, so I didn't have to deal with him. I'm not going to drop any names, but his name started with the letter Jay. Just an example or two of our experience: We walk up to Jay and my friend who is carrying the basket full of computer parts set off the sensors. He tells us 'maybe you shouldn't hold that there.' We move the basket. The sensors go off again. He grabbed the basket and tossed it in the corner of his stall. Tossed... similar to the attitude he was tossing around the whole time. He also double scanned an item. When he said swipe your card, my friend and I both interjected 'but you double charged an item.' He looked at us dubiously 'I did?' He took it off, bagged our stuff, and shoved it at us without anymore words. It took all my might not to say anything to his face. I literally exploded when I got the parking lot. Not the best way to end a long day, but at least we got all the computer parts. Way to ruin a great experience, Jay! Still, a 4 star status for this place, because of everything else. read more

I would give ZERO stars if possible! I was looking for a Dell laptop i7 processor. I found one online and on clearance - imagine my luck! I bought it right away and went to the store to pick it up. I got to the store and pick-up was easy. I changed the warranty from 1 year to 2 years and paid the difference at the store. I specifically asked the cashier if the laptop was new or used and she assured me it was new. They advertise just 18 minutes from order time to pick-up time. They really should have taken 20 minutes because they neglected to give me the BATTERY!!!! I tried to call the store - which took 2 HOURS to get a live person. I asked for the manager and was told they would take my name and number and have him call me back... still waiting 4 hours later. I took it back to the store anyway and asked for the battery. I was given a USED battery which I asked for credit as I have no idea how old the battery was. The cashier went in the back to talk with the manager for about 10 minutes. When he came out he asked what was the problem. Ummm, what was the cashier talking with you about? The weather? I explained the situation again - new laptop used battery and was told... THE LAPTOP WAS NOT NEW - IT WAS USED!! I paid nearly $1,100.00 for the laptop, tax and warranty and IT WAS USED! I said I wanted to return the laptop. The cashier asked if I wanted to exchange it for something else. I told her I was not interested in anymore of their products advertised as new that are really used. I'm sure this is against the law! I will never shop at Microcenter again and will tell everyone I know about their used equipment being sold as new. They are nothing more than a scam! read more

Micro Center has a good inventory selection. Their prices are up and down...sometimes they are cheaper than online sites (such as Newegg or Tiger Direct) and other times they are more expensive. They usually have what I need. The reason for the 2 stars is the customer service. I have been in there probably about 10 times by myself and have never been approached by ANY employees asking if I was finding everything alright or if I needed any assistance. Now if I track down an employee and somehow manage to get their attention...they have been very helpful. But when I'm standing there comparing three different products that's usually a clue that I could use some knowledgable help. Now when I go in there with my wife (incredibly attractive lady mind you)...we are more or less bombarded with help. I could make a comment about computer geeks and women...but I'll keep it to myself as I'm in a friendly mood today :) I will keep coming here because unfortunately it is the only option in the Denver metro area. But so help me if Fry's ever shows up in Denver...you will never see my shadow darken the door at Micro Center ever again. read more

I HAD nothing but good things to say about Micro Center in the past. They recently have added a KNOWLEDGE BAR. Which is nothing more than a gatekeeper when bringing in your device tablet, computer, laptop, etc. I brought my PC in June 1st I explained the issue I was experiencing, after about an hour and a half I left after paying 39.99 for diagnosis. They were to keep it about 10days. I didn't hear from them so I called after 3 weeks. I picked up my computer 4 days later. There's no continuity. The technician just quoted what the additional price would be. The person who worked on the device should also be the one checking you out or at least have a conversation about the device with whoever checks the customer out. I asked to have it hooked up prior to leaving, everything looked fine. I took PC home and the problem is still there. Micro Center had skillful technicians not sure what's going on now. Seems to be all about money and not satisfying the customer. As in the past. Sorry to say everything looks bright and up to date but the service now sucks. In the past Micro Center focused on the customer and their reputation for treating every one right. I will seek service elsewhere from now on. read more

I can't really comment on the retail portion of this business but my experience with the service department has been nothing short of terrible. I brought my laptop in three days ago for a RAM upgrade and to switch out my hard drive for a solid state model. After FOUR VISITS, I still don't have my computer. There seems to be a breakdown in communication between the techs doing the labor and the customer service people, who interact with customers, because they will stand there and tell you things that turn out not to be true. They also do a very poor job of alerting customers to potential problems and keeping you abreast of what's going on with your repair/upgrade. In short, there's just a general atmosphere of incompetence and indifference in the service department. So, if you want to be left feeling frustrated, despondent and angry, bring your computer here for service. read more

On a scale of one to five Micro Center ranks 5 on in-store service and zero (0) on customer service when you have a problem contacting them about a pilfered, damaged or vandalized part from inside a box about which you only find out when you get home and inspect it. I bought a nice mechanical, back-lit computer keyboard. The salesperson was very knowledgeable, courteous, articulate and helpful. This in-store experience could not have been topped. I was very impressed and pleased. The trouble begun when I inspected the keyboard after I had brought it home and opened the box. I saw that the box had been torn open, its contents messed up and a cable and operating manual stolen from it. The tear had been cleverly concealed which is why neither the sales person nor I noticed it in the store. I HAVE TRIED FOR FIVE (5) DAYS to have anyone from the store call me to find a way to rectify this. I am old and live 3 1/2 hours round-trip and half a tank of gas away from the store and requested an expedited shipment to my home. Not only am I still without the part. THE STORE NEVER CALLED OR WROTE BACK in response to three (3) emails, verbal messages with a person in customer service nor my final attempt to get help from a very nice gentleman at the HEADQUARTERS OF Micro Center at the East Coast to whom I send copies of all one-way correspondence (Charles was his name). NEVER EVER PURCHASE AN ITEM FROM THIS STORE THAT SHOWS ANY SIGN OF HAVING BEEN PREVIOUSLY OPENED unless the salesperson opens it in your presence and proves that the item is in mint condition and that all parts an manuals are present and accounted for. read more

I've been coming to Micro Center for my technology needs for over 10 years, but that may be coming to an end after how I was treated today. The intent of my visit was to purchase a HD security camera system. I did not make this purchase because of my experience. As I walked into the store, there was another man at the entrance as well. The employee stepped around me to ask if he needed assistance. Odd, I thought to myself but then didn't think anything of it. So as I wandered around the isles looking for the cameras, two other employees asked two other men if they were finding what they were looking for. I finally made eye contact with another employee and inquired as to the location of security cameras. The pointed and said which isle. No offer of assistance, no offer to send someone over to answer any questions. I know the store can be busy, so I read the boxes of several of the systems while I waited expecting someone would eventually check in with me. The security guy walked by. But still no one inquired if I might want assistance or information. As I went to approach another employee, he turned to ask another man if he needed any help. Frustrated with this experience I took two smaller items I also needed to purchase to the register. As I was walking out, I decided that I should at least bring my experience to the attention of the manager on duty. I'm giving two stars for this experience because she was at least empathetic to my concern. This experience has cost Micro Center my business for the $500 I was prepared to spend today and quite possibly my future business too. Female shoppers: shop at your own risk. There are other options for your technology needs that will treat you with better respect than what I was shown today. read more

Terrible customer service. Asked a group of employees standing around chatting where I could find what I was looking for. One guy immediately said he was off the clock and walked away. I just wanted to comment on all the employees that work there..they are so helpful and nice!!! I first took my computer to geek squad (Best Buy) they were trying to charge me $100 just to detect the problem. I already knew what the problem was but wasn't 100% sure. Best Buy also told me it would probably cost close to $500 to fix the problem after I pay $100 to figure out what was wrong with it. I wanted a second opinion so I went to micro center. They didn't ask for any money and sat down with me for close to 1-2 hours just trying to figure it out. Turns out there was nothing wrong with my computer and it was a simple headset problem. Regardless what the problem was, they took their time to help me and saved me a lot of money. Thanks micro center and a special thanks to Nathan! read more

First I bought a monitor that I ended up having to bring back to the store because it was different than the picture, and description, which was an hour drive from my house. Be sure to open boxes and check all items purchased. Then when i got the computer open that I bought it is giving me a message that the windows software it was running was pirated. Then there is no phone number to speak to an actual person at the store. Now it looks like I'm in for another hour drive read more

So, yes, there is an abundant number of sales reps running around (both helpful and annoying), but this place has awesome customer service. I drove an hour to be told by 3 employees and a manager the computer says we have 3 but they aren't in the spot they should be so sorry I can't help you. 2 hour drive round trip for "sorry" is ridiculous. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Worst customer service ever, especially in upper management. I needed help from the store manager and not only did he keep me waiting a half hour, he was so incredibly rude and ignorant to me when he finally decided to slink out of the back. Love microcenter. Always great experiences with the employees really knowing their stuff. Love that we can look up items online and see if they have them in the store. Discounted on price, not quality. Way better than Best Buy. Also, bawls. read more

First I want to say, as appalling and crazy as this sounds, everything I write here is true. I've always had a good relationship with microcenter until now. I bought a laptop a few months ago and the battery started to expand and warp the keys. It looked like it was going to explode. I brought it in and the sales associate mentioned that they would fix it but they wouldn't give me a refund (I paid for the accidental coverage). I asked to talk to the manager, it was obvious the computer wasn't salvageable and they gave me a refund (that manager was awesome!). I decided to buy a new computer ($3699) there and have their service team install a couple SSD drives for extra space (around $1000 with accidental coverage). I brought it home and realized pretty quickly there was a lot wrong with the computer. Certain keys didn't work, the sound went in and out during conference calls, Windows wasn't updating. I called the manufacturer and they said the partitions we're corrupted and I basically bought a lemon. I called Microcenter's service department and after installing a bunch of drivers, they advised me to bring it in after they couldn't get it to work. At this point I spent $2400 for a computer that almost exploded and $3699+ on a computer that didn't last 2 days. I took it back to Microcenter and here is the reason I'm giving them 1 star: The manager basically said he couldn't give me a refund because I had SSD drives installed. I mentioned they were installed in Microcenter and he gave me a sour look and said "Ok I'll give you a refund but I have to take out the drives first so you're going to have to wait a while." I asked when that would be and he responded that he's really busy so he can't give me a date. I asked if he could just refund the computer (I need to buy another computer and didn't want to overdraft my credit card) and only refund the drives when he's able to take them out. He said he could but it would be a lot of work and so he refused. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! He left and the sales associates looked and me and mouthed "sorry". I said, I can't believe this, and he's like I know and shrugged. As I was walking out, some people in the line expressed their dismay as to how I was treated and hoped I'd get my money back. I needed a computer to work so after leaving them the computer I came back the next day to purchase another computer. I asked them to install SSD drives. The manager (same one as the day before) looked at me and said, you complained that you had a corrupted partition so we're not going to do it for you. I said are you serious?? Asus and YOUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT said I have a corrupted partition...not me! He said well our support guy who does these things is sick and we don't know when he's coming back. Any store that would treat their clientele in such a way deserves 1 star. Any computer outlet that can't install SSD drives into a computer deserves 1 star. I'm not even describing what happened after all this because this review is starting to drag out but believe me, it's stranger than fiction. In the end I'm left with close to $10000 charges on my credit card including the old computer and new one and the warranty charges. The computer I have still needs SSD hard drives in order to increase input output of my hd by 85%. I spent a lot of money and time in microcenter and from now on I'm going to another business. Working with Microcenter has been nothing less than a complete and utter nightmare. I've lost clients waiting literally weeks for Microcenter to give me basic support. I would definitely caution anyone going to Microcenter to be careful. They don't care about their products, reputation or their clientele. During this process we were lied to constantly, treated with derision, and ultimately made the fun process of buying a new computer an absolute nightmare. Beware! read more

I think Micro Center is as goot as it gets for the Denver Metro Area. I loathe big box stores due to lack of knowledge, pushy sales, dreadfull customer service. That is why I love this place. I can get assistance if I ask and never feel pushed. The sales are great. The layout seems to be easy to navigate. I appreciate all of the items out for display so you can have the hands on testing. My biggest purchase there was a laptop which, after eight months, is still running swell. I like the variety of staff and appreciate the checkout system. I don't feel like the next customer is breathing down my neck. The weekly mailer is great to check for sales and when I asked to change the address it was done quickly. I can't say enough about this place! Great variety, great prices, knowledgable staff, and plenty of stock, even sale items. read more

We bought a PC with full service warranty from them. It started to overheat. My wife called them, described the problem, and was told, "That sounds like a fan going bad. Just bring it in and we'll fix it." We did so today. As they were checking her computer in, she noticed a sign stating that work would begin on Sept. 10. It turns out that service would take TWO WEEKS. I can't decide which is worse: the "service" or the attitude. You'll save a few bucks buying from them, but at what cost? read more

Great service at the Microcenter, I needed a CPU fan installed, a tech was able to install it in a half and hour on a busy Monday afternoon.

Could you please train your people to ask questions about what the customer is trying to accomplish? I came in looking for a router as I know I needed that basic item at the least, but no one asked me if I had a modem and coaxial cable. I was back 3/nights in a row getting things needed. I asked each time I came in and before I was done with any of the sales team on the floor... Do I need anything else? I said I just moved into a new place and if 1) I hadn't specifically asked & 2) I had not communicated to each person I just moved into a new place and I have to pickup whatever it takes to get internet connected, then yes, bad on my part for not getting all stuff. But apparently none of the sale floor team members are listening to the story being communicated about what the customer is trying to solve. The last sales person received a less patient customer by the 3rd time I was in and Microcenter is less than 1.5 miles from my house so I Did come back again & again. Most people the store is not as convenient and might not waste more time there. Perhaps you can have a checklist of things needed for common setups so some knows all that is needed and tour sales team can be more "sales" generating activity rather than here is the item, done. If you had a laminated checklist sheet for the team members, they might learn to use it to make sure that they have a happy customer. One that will recommend your store/services to others. Not every customer is a technology guru and we need some fully competent technical knowledgeable sales/customer assistance. I am not the first to move into a new place and in need of guidance. read more

I hadn't been in this location for a while, but I recently started a business and was in dire need of some office supplies, electronics and software. I made the absolute WRONG choice going in there! I was never greeted or offered any assistance, not that there weren't a bunch of employees there... it was just clearly more important to talk to each other than to help a customer! The store had a dirty and unkempt appearance. Many items I was looking for were out of order or not in stock. I had to buy a new headset with a microphone for my computer. Like most things in life, it turned out not to be as simple as it sounds. Luckily, I had an excellent salesman, Andrew Ross. I explained what I needed and he patiently explained my choices. After spending considerable time and deciding on a certain brand, I remembered an additional feature I needed. Andrew kept his cool as he acknowledged the one we just spent so much time on won't meet my needs. Back to the drawing board. Andrew found another option but since all the info wasn't specified on the box, we went to the computer. Not finding the info there we went to the manufacturer's site. Still no luck so we gave them a call. Yup, and we went through a hellacious telephone menu, a transfer and finally got a rep who confirmed the additional feature I needed was installed in the product. But when I got home and opened the box, I thought something was missing. I called the store and asked to speak to Andrew. He wasn't free but he called back within a few minutes. By that time, I had solved my own problem but I still appreciate his promptness. The headset is up and running and I'm a happy camper though I had to spend more money than I intended...a fact of life, I guess. So the salesman, Andrew, gets 5 stars but I gave a rating of 4 because when the cashier rang up my purchase, it was $5 more than the advertised price. I brought it to her attention, she checked the ad and corrected the price. But then she nudged me for my address and I refused to give it. I know she isn't to blame, it's store policy but it annoys me when retailers do that. read more

So a couple of things happened when shopping tonight. 1) I was trying to find a charger for my MacBook pro. I spend about 5 minutes looking at the wall of adapters and chargers. An employee asks a group of other next to me, maybe 5 paces away if they needed help. The didn't so the employee walks off without asking me. That's fine, maybe he didn't see me looking intently for a product. I find the correct display cabinet of chargers locked behind glass. I take out my phone to do research on what watt I need. Take about 2 or 3 minutes to find the info, still no help. Because I'm a man-child, I decide that I don't want to give any of the people on the floor the 1% commission on the charger and other equipment I'm about to buy. I decide to walk all the way to the front of the Knowledge Bar to ask someone to help me. 2) At the Knowledge Bar, there is a computer for people to sign up to basically get in the queue for help. So I do the sign-up and wait. there is suppose to be a screen, a tv, on the wall to see where you are in the queue. I'm looking for this screen and another shopper steps to the computer and before he can sign up he is immediately asked if he needs help. It upsets me that he got help before I did and the fact that another employee can see this has happened and doesn't correct the other employee that I'm in line. 3) I'm up next in this imaginary queue that doesn't exist. I mean it really doesn't. I asked the employee where the screen is with the queue and they said they didn't have one. Then why have the computer to sign up for it? I get a person from the Knowledge Bar to walk from the front of the store to where the charger I wan to buy. I can't carry the charger to the front myself, it has to be taken up there by the employee and I have to ask for it, fine, security stuff I guess. I go look for other equipment I need and go to the checkout counter to pay for my stuff. It's around 7 PM so maybe the checker is tired so I don't let his personality get to me. I just had to laugh it off that he couldn't be bothered to bag my equipment and I just did it myself. To be fair, maybe he wanted to make sure my card when through first? Or maybe some people just move like they are stuck in tar. But I'm fairly certain he had no plans to bag my things. I also had to laugh when I saw they put one of those employee sales stickers on my products when nobody helped me. Well, to be far they guy at the Knowledge bar did have to unlock the cabinet and did tell me the mice are at aisle 3. I absolutely despise this place. I feel like more like a prisoner or ex-con when I'm in the store. I try my best not to purchase stuff from this place. I needed the equipment tonight really like a short term solution. I could just return it back when I'm done but I'm not the type to do that. Plus the less I have to deal with them the better. I was thinking Black Friday was the day I go back to this store to give it another shot after years of not shopping there but forget it, I'll find the parts for the new PC I'm building elsewhere. UPDATE: Because I'm a moron, I thought a USB-C cable would come with the Apple charger that I bought. So I went back tonight to buy one. This time I stormed in with a purpose to the glass cabinet. Here is the secret for me to get service. I held my previous purchases that were in a bag over my head so the security camera could see it. So this probably alerted an employee to check up on my odd behavior and this gave me the opportunity to ask the employee where I could find the cable I needed. He was actually helpful because, in my state of anger/depression/Joker-like madness, I would have bought the wrong cable. 1 star updated to 2 stars. read more
