This is such a wonderful bakery in Pike Place Market, I am surprised they were not as busy as most of the other surrounding shops. Service was delightful, very friendly and helpful. Prices are fair and everything looks simply amazing. I really enjoyed the desserts we purchased here, all very fresh and high quality. Large and diverse selection of sweet and savory treats with a few small tables and chairs to dine in at, but the food works very well to go and enjoy outside with views of the water and ferries passing by. They offer a ton of different foods ranging from sandwiches, salads, various side dishes, soups and desserts. It's similar to a deli that you'd fine that offers hot foods as well but their food looked really good. I wished I came earlier since several of the sandwiches that I was interested in were actually sold out already. They also heat up the sandwiches for you when you order it. I got to try food from the hot bar and a baklava. Was a little skeptical since they were all just laid out and under the light but the meatballs were surprisingly really good. The baklava was also a good size and made well. The pastry layers were thin and flakey and it was sweet and nutty inside. I will not go to Michou again. Racist staff! While waiting in line, I watched an encounter between an employee and a customer who is black. The customer asked for a sandwich and the employee asks the customer "Are you going to pay for this? Do you have money to pay for this? You're going to pay for this, right?" My family and I vacationed in Seattle for two days and this was my favorite meal I had while here. They have tons of vegan options- I had the buddha salad, which was full of healthy ingredients and tasted fantastic. The larger 12 oz container filled enough to serve as brunch for the morning. Me and my family are regulars here and the food is always so so good. My parents love getting the sandwiches - the teriyaki tofu and the grilled portobello are vegetarian. They also enjoy the bread puddings. I'm vegan so I opt for the salad bar. I LOVE all their options and all the seasonal things that they have. For some reason, this place doesn't get much credit. It seems to be overshadowed by the other pike place stores around. This is a pretty decent place especially if you're on a budget! There's usually no line, but even if there is, it goes by pretty quickly. My boyfriend and I ordered half a Sierra, half a turkey bacon and a full Italian. All were decent choices- however I liked the Sierra best! We also ordered some baked pasta and chicken which was a bit bland to be honest. Everything tastes so fresh and I love how there are so many different choices! Make sure to get your sandwich toasted because it always tastes best that way! I can't believe I have not visited this place in all these years, still wondering how I missed it. If you like sandwiches, soups or desserts you have to try this place. The line was long when we got there for lunch, but it moved quickly. They have a lot of options for sandwiches, vegetarian options too. I got half a Sierra sandwich with medium 'clam pasta' soup. I like that they grill the sandwich for you and it is ready by the time you pay at the counter. While paying, I had to get zeppoli, they were 4 for $2 and were calling my name. Michou Deli is a little cafe right in the heart of Pike Place Market. At this point, I usually steer away from places in Downtown Seattle since many of them are, in my opinion, often overhyped, overpriced, and overcrowded. However, Michou Deli took me by surprise on this one. They have a wide variety of high quality sandwiches, soups, salads, hot meals, and pastries/sweets. You can follow their Instagram to check what soups and lunch offerings they have for that day. There are rotating seasonal items to spice things up as well. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, looking for health conscious options, or wanting a treat, they have it all. And the best part? Everything is incredibly reasonably priced (especially given its location). If you're feeling indecisive, they have a great lunch special (half a sandwich, 8 oz salad, 2 zeppole aka Italian doughnuts, and a bottle of water) for $10! I can understand why there's usually a line out the door now, and yes, I'll happily wait. The workers are probably very accustomed to the long lines as they were working very efficiently to fill orders and still offering great service, so kudos to them! They're operating as they normally would during COVID and you can take your food to go or grab one of the few seats they have to enjoy your meal. I'd say their sandwiches are their most popular item with the majority being offered in a full or half size. If you're getting any of these, I'd highly recommend getting it toasted. I ordered half of a Sierra chicken sandwich ($4.25) and the flavors melded perfectly. I've been in Seattle for a little over half a year and have gone to Pike Place dozens of times. And although I'm still relatively new and still have so much to explore, I find Michou to be the best bang for its buck! Don't get me wrong, Pike Place is littered with amazing food, but Michou's is not only delicious, but definitely affordable. NOTE: According to the people at Michou, the bottom row of sandwiches are typically customers' favorites. My wife and I got the Tuscan and Sierra, and both were great! The bread is super unique and the flavors were really refreshing. And we were so tempted to just order so many sides, as all their cold and hot sides looked phenomenal. We overheard another customer raving about the spinach, so that's something I'm down to try. So for the long line at La Panier, if you're not willing to wait in such a long queue, go check out Michou's! Definitely underrated and I'll be going back soon read more

One of my favorite delis ever - I always bring my friends here when we visit pike place. The prices are great for the quantity and everything tastes great overall. I come here for the variety, from sandwiches to salads, pasta, pastries, they really have it all. I took off one star since not all the food tastes amazing, I.e. would not recommend the shepherds pie (not much content, came out lukewarm). But overall a really fun place to order from! read more

I was walking around Pike Market and was starving!! I found this place through Yelp and it had great reviews and the line wasn't too bad. I probably only stood in line for around 10 minutes so it moves fast. I got half of a Sierra chicken and it was soooooo good!! The sandwiches are pre-made but they grill it in the panini pan once you order. My half sandwich put me back 3.50 and it was the perfect amount for me. They have a few seats in the back of the store but there are also some tables around pike place if you want to eat outside. read more

This place is absolutely dope. Makes me feel like I'm back in an East Coast deli, but with an extra flare that could only be found in Seattle. Walking into this place at noon on a Thursday during the lunch rush seemed like a mistake, but I just couldn't turn away once I looked at the paninis. The glass cases of food are really a sight to see. These see-through cases of meat vessels will make your mouth water as you slowly walk by to the cash register, all while mulling over your order to make SURE you made the right decision. It was a difficult choice to make, but I went all in on an entire Sierra sandwich. It seems like a lot of people don't want to be as gluttonous and only get half a sandwich, but there was no way I was going to stop while eating this thing. The flavor combinations of fantastic crispy bread, excellent cheese, great meat, and their special spreads on top really make these sandwiches come together. The various other deli creations that they have look outstanding, and I definitely want to come back to try them all out. Whoa, how have I missed this place after living in Seattle for all these years?! Good thing I don't work downtown, otherwise I'd be getting lunch and eating out at Michou several times a week. Yes, it's worth squeezing through the crazy market goers and you'll be mesmorized by the impressive display of sandwiches the minute you walk in the store. Take a few steps further, and the parade of food continues! From Asian side dishes, to American comfort food, to all kinds of baked pastries, this place is likely to satisfy any craving you have. "World Class Deli" is a bit too big of a claim but I think Michou is doing v well with its fair prices and wide selection of noms. I love that they have half-sandwich and sandwich combo options, too. My first visit, I ordered the Tuscan Chicken sandwich with donut holes for dessert. My second visit, I ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich with a small salad and an Oreo rice krispie. Both times were solid all around, complete with fast, friendly service. Skip the lines at Pike Place and check out Michou next time you need a quick bite to eat! read more

The reason for 2 stars is the attitude of two of the employees. My friend got a dirty look for just asking about the chocolate and strawberry tamales. Then the cashier tossed our order onto the counter like he just loved his job soo much...NOT!!! The food was average but not bad, just the service stunk. One of my favorites in Pike Place Market! My friend and I came here for lunch and was so pleasantly surprised to see several deli counter options...at an affordable price! Lunch in downtown Seattle during the work week can be pricey, but Michou makes it possible for a working gal to get a bite to eat in the big city, especially in such a tourist area. It's a little hidden in the market, so you'll have to make sure to look out for it, especially since the line outside the door will most likely be blocking the entrance and signage. Yet, don't get discouraged by the long line. It actually goes by very fast, as there are several employees helping customers behind the counter. Since there are so many options here at Michou from sandwiches, to salads, to pastas, and even hot fried foods, there is A LOT to choose from and you'll most likely plan another visit very soon, to try a different item (at least that's my sitch). But what is especially nice at Michou is that if you want a sandwich - you can actually get two different halves, so no pressure to have a long-term commitment with one particular sandwich. There are plenty of sandwiches in the deli, so take advantage of getting two different kinds of sandwiches for the price of one full sandwich. Love it! And once you select your sandwich, they heat it up in a panini press. In my visit I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Baked Macaroni and Cheese, which were both fantastic! The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was not at all heavy, which is usually the case with fried food. But the thinly-cut chicken, which was lightly breaded makes it possible to have a side of Baked Macaroni and Cheese, the much heavier of the two. Not sure which I liked more, but I definitely recommend both. All the sandwiches are huge and filled generously, and are all in the $8 range. They also offer half sandwiches you can buy, for no up charge -- so you can mix and match! I had the Sierra, which the kind man (super nice staff here!!!) up front told me was the most popular. Half came up to just over $4- and it was definitely enough to keep me full! They also offer to grill the sandwich, which I did, and it melted the cheese so nicely. The bread was the perfect medium firmness -- personally I hate it when the bread is too hard so this was perfect for me. The chicken was delicious and the chipotle sauce just blended in seamlessly -- the ratio of everything was just great. This place almost put me into anaphylactic shock. It's not that their food isn't good it's that their employees seem to not take their jobs seriously. The customer service is why I'm giving this place one star. The food would've gotten it 3. It's average. I come here very often because I work down the street. This time in particular I came in to get what I've gotten before, their chicken tamales. I saw next to it a sign that said pineapple tamales. I told the girl who helped me about 4 times to please make sure that it's the chicken and not the pineapple because I have a pineapple allergy. Without even looking she tells me it's chicken. When I got back to work to have lunch I discovered it was pineapple. I knew right away when I put it in my mouth and thankfully spit it out and took Benadryl just in time but this could've have been very serious if I had swallowed the food. When I went back to get a refund and told them what had happened, instead of being apologetic she laughed. I asked for a manager and no one knew what to say or do. They are lucky my allergic reaction wasn't serious this time but these people need to PAY ATTENTION. Sad to say but I won't be coming back here because of this incident. They've lost a once loyal customer. If they did that to the wrong person they'd have a lawsuit on their hands.. read more

However, the risotto rice was under seasoned and not super flavorful. The ragu filling was also not great and tasted like canned tomato sauce.
