However, they had clearly had a busy morning because they only had two types of pastries left and were out of non-dairy milk. I got a toasted oat cookie and guava pastry to try and they were both so good! I wanted an oat milk matcha but couldn't get that since they were out of oat milk. What a cute French neighborhood bakery! Once you walk in you are instantly met with the most beautiful smell of baked goods! Everything was beautifully plated on display, and I knew it would be a tough decision deciding what I was going to bring home. I went with a chocolate pistachio croissant. OMG. This was the most decedent croissant I have ever had. I heated it up when I got home so the chocolate was warm and melty. It was so good! The taste of burnt bread lingers. Sadly, the baguette I bought at 1pm on a Wednesday was not worth it. The entirety of the baguette is noticeably burnt(realized this late as I sneaked a bite in my driveway) so I sit wondering why the cashier even handed it to me. I also bought a chocolate chip cookie, on recommendation by the cashier, which turned out to be burnt on the bottom and purposely doughy on one side? ‍ I'm very disappointed and will neither return nor recommend the place to others. read more

We drove across town for this place and it was well worth it! We got there before 9.30am on a Sunday and they were already sold out of a few items (including croissants), but we very much enjoyed the ones we tried. The Guava and Honey bacon danishes were amazing - super buttery and flaky, great mix of sweet/savory. The quiche was solid and the praline/orange marmalade cookie had a pretty unique flavor combo. It's quite a small space and I'm assuming the production is also small, so make sure to get there early! They also sell loaves of bread and coffee/tea beverages. You can tell this place is popular; we arrived to find there was already a line out the door. The entire place is very small, with little seating to accommodate everyone. The service was quick, but as I was waiting for my coffee, I felt there was no good place for me to stand without being in the way. For 10am on a weekend, I was surprised to find out half of their selection was already sold out, leaving us with little to choose from. Their pastries are relatively good. In general, their puff pastry dough lacked the flaky and crisp texture that is expected. The croissant was average; I probably wouldn't get it again. The other two, the fig and bacon pastries, were better, but again missed the mark when it came down to texture. I almost found them to be a little dry. The chocolate chip cookie, on the other hand, was exceptional and I would come back solely for that. One thing I found disappointing was their coffee. I dislike getting American-sized cappuccinos, because they often have a more watered down flavor. I was expecting that since this was advertised as a French bakery, their coffees would be the traditional size, but I was wrong. It didn't taste very good and I probably would not get it again. The prices were all very reasonable, especially for the area. I would come here again, but make sure to be one of the first people in the door to get good pickings. read more

I was excited to try this new French Bakery in Somerville, so I rushed in the morning of a Wednesday around 8:30am. It was the opening time, and the staff was helpful and friendly. I waited an additional 5 min to get warm chocolate croissant that were baked in the oven. So i started with an iced coffee which taste great, a real espresso strong taste in it. Then i had a Rhubarb raspberry tarte, very delicate & delicious taste with pistachio and rosemary, and finally the warm chocolate croissant, so good that it reminded me of the ones i used to eat in my hometown in France! Amazing food and drinks. In my group we got a chocolate pistachio croissant, a guava cheese pastry, banana bread, a baguette, iced tea, and an iced London fog. The drinks were good, but the food was out of this world, especially the croissant and guava pastries. The baguette was one of the best I've had in this area, and I would absolutely go back. They were very welcoming and were kind enough to explain what was in many of the pastries. One thing we didn't realize from reviews is there's no place to sit inside, but there's a park close by so if the weather is nice it's a great picnic. read more

I love how the French pastries look at the counter, but I have been disappointed a number of times over the last several months so I will give them a 3.5 star rating. I truly hope the owner examines the quality to make improvements. The flaky croissants, and there are a variety of them that use the same/similar dough, all have the same issue - a center that feels undercooked, soggy and very greasy. I have tried the plain croissant, the pain au chocolat, and the ham and cheese croissant. They all have the same issue. I really wonder why the owner isn't doing any quality control given that it feels like that it aspires to be a good French bakery. There are several places in Boston that do a better job, and it's very disappointing that Michette has not made any improvements on this for so many months since its opening. The ham and cheese sandwich was very good, and so was the pistachio cheesecake. The buckwheat cookie though, was just okay. We've been ordering goodies from Thomas at Michette since last fall before their brick and mortar finally opened this spring. Their chocolate chip cookies are the best we've had-- crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, with just the right amount of sea salt and so much butter that I get slight notes of toffee. But these days, since the brick and mortar opened, we are all about the croissants! So flaky, chewy, and buttery. The type they'll have out seems to change based on the day (and maybe even time of day), but all of the croissants we've had: plain, chocolate (probably my favorite), and dark chocolate pistachio (my husband deemed it the best thing he's eaten in recent memory) have all been stellar. I would definitely recommend gettting there in the first hour or so of opening though -- the pastries are always the most delicious the sooner out of the oven. read more

I really wanted to like this place but they have a ton of work to do. They made several mistakes on my online orders. Every time I go in, whether ordering online or walking, the wait is always really really long. Their baked goods range from amazing to " why did I just pay $10 for this?".
