Love this parking lot, tons of parking and nice views of the mountains. My grandma and I went to another Michael's location and had a bad experience with the custom framing department. So we came to this one to give it a shot and we are so happy. It was a little bit more of a drive but well worth it. Jerome helped us with our custom framing and answered alllll of our tons of questions. He was so kind and patient with my grandma, which meant a lot to her and i. He was knowledgeable and just all around kind and professional. I am even confident to say he went above and beyond. I've been to Michael's a few times and forget to check-in but when I go there they have sales! Sometimes the sales are up to 75-20% that's a big load off your final price, plus you can use coupons! It's always good to sign up for the weekly ads thru their website. All you need to remember is your phone number, you can always cancel if you're getting too many notifications. The picture frames are nice, paint is on deck, and the lines to check out go by really fast. Whether you're planning a small party or a wedding they got most of the things you're looking for at a bargain! I go for acrylic paint and canvas material, not high end stuff but it really doesn't matter if you got talent from 1st to 6th level, they got your back. Employees are helpful and curious to hear what you need help putting together. They're really nice. Although, at the moment, construction is near by but not at the store, things go smoothly. You'll have a good time. I'm glad they're within driving range. I gotta remember to check-in more often to get more helpful advice from the crew. read more

It's pretty dangerous that TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Michaels are all connected in the same building. My cousin loves Michaels because she's been making her own bars of soap and scented candles. They need to restock more often because a lot of things were all sold out. They have sales on Christmas items already, which I'm not entirely sure why because Christmas hasn't happened yet! Employees are fairly friendly and there is a huge parking lot out in front. read more

A man by the name of Mark was working the online order pickup. He was HORRIBLE. He came out maskless and gave me the wrong order. When I came back to get my correct package (legit walked out then right back in) he avoided coming out all together. After a manager forced him to inform me that they had lost my order and had to re pull my items he was maskless again. I asked him to put his mask on, he pretended to, sat down and told me he was vaccinated so it was ok. He called me violent when I told him to put it on again. He threw the incorrect order in my direction and told me to get out. He was pretty confident his manager Patrick wouldn't care. Patrick takes personal calls on the sales floor so he's not wrong. First off, with most of the other retail stores in this lot closed down, there is plenty of parking! Moving on... Being that I am a huge fan of Michaels, it's difficult to rate it anything below 3 stars even if my experience wasn't quite exceptional. The employees on the sales floor to assist customers is lacking. Today I was shopping for a Copic marker set; these markers are usually held in the cage (and/or behind the cashier counter) so I went around looking for the cage which was nowhere to be found. At the register I did notice individual Copic markers and eventually saw the sets. What I highly dislike is that on the sales floor they display the multiple color set CARDS that are needed to take to the cashier for check out. I took one, stood in line and at the front...no markers! Wouldn't it be more efficient to only display the colors that are in stock?! What a waste of time. Went today to pick up canvases for my daughter's birthday. The sign stated all canvases are buy one get 2 free. We went to the register and it did not ring up. We showed the cashier the photo and she said it was weird it wasn't ringing up but she'd get her manager to help us. That's when Julia walked up rudely and stated she was not going to honor the price because these were a bulk pack? The sign did not have any exclusions other than clearance items which these clearly were not. I told her California pricing law states she must honor the price since the sign was clearly stating ALL canvases of that brand were included not only individual ones. She rudely just said no that she would not honor it and walked away. Seems like this location is violating California pricing and needs to be investigated and their employees need customer service training. I love Michaels but I felt like this store needs a review! First off after googling the product I was looking for which led me to Michaels Monrovia. I was able to find my laminator no problem but my goodness the customer service in this store is horrible. After standing in line I was greeted by an unfriendly overly worked cashier (she hates her job) who couldnt find my item in the system who then proceeded to call another employee that hates their job as well. He proceeded to tell me I can't purchase an item because it's discontinued! Not the fact that theirs 10 other items still sitting on the shelves waiting for someone else to grab one. Why is it every time I come here there's only one person at the cash register and a long line. It would seem by this point they'd understand they need more people helping out the customers. I've been waiting in line for 14 minutes to buy a few pieces of stationary... that's all. Everyone behind and in front of me are just getting a couples items too. And to add to the annoyance, they are pushing their staff to get good reviews on yelp, making it even more obvious their knowledge of their current 2.5 star yelp status. My favorite go to store for whenever my crafting side kicks in. I also like the Michaels in West Covina too. However, this one near home has all the things I need. So hard to come in here and not buy a sh*t load of things, lol! Christmas time - love coming here and checking out their Christmas wreath selections, which are 50% woohoo!!! They're so gorgeous and each one is so unique! Got one for my house after getting rid of our old one. I also love their huge selections of rhinestones, glitters, stickers, glues, double sided tapes, and paints, oh my!!! They also got a huge selection of frames too. They'll have their BOGO sales on it. Also, they might not accept frames back if you open them (though I gor lucky this time since I was exchanging it because I got the frame size half an inch too big, and they were cool with me exchanging it). I decided to use the curbside pick up for the first time because I needed one item and when I called they said the line was a long wait. I placed the order at 11 o'clock I was told that it takes three hours for the orders to be released. I decided to go do some other shopping and errands, grab something to eat, and then made my way over towards the Michaels as the three hour time limit was coming up. I called the store to check on the status and they said I needed to wait for a confirmation before arriving. Again, was told 3 hours. I actually sat in my car for a good half hour thinking that the confirmation would come, however, it did not. I left and went home. Around 4 PM, which was five hours later, I called the store to check status one more time, got a gentleman who told me it was sitting in someone's cart and they would call me soon. Curbside pick up is not a good idea in my opinion. I had to wait over five hours to get one item and then when I showed up at the store to get my curbside item I had to go into the store to the framing department to pick it up. read more

I dunno, this place is kinda like Costco for me. I come in needing one thing and walk out with a bagful. My last experience was needing two small bottles of enamel paint and when I left $80 was spent. The selection of supplies is great. The workers are friendly and helpful. And just walking around looking at all the trinkets, and glue, and paint, and glitter and stamps and paper make you want to make EVERYTHING!! Make sure to always take advantage of the weekly ads which often give you 40% off the item you need. Also they have an app to download now so your weekly coupon is always right on your phone. I came here to get some custom mats made for a piece of framed artwork. I've had custom mats made before by a Michaels in Chicago that were wonderful, so I assumed there would be no difference here. When I received the mats and inspected them at home, I saw they were not cut well and had rips and over-cutting in the seams. I brought them back to the store to have them redone, and they said the over-cutting and rips in the board was 'normal' due to the machine they use and that if I didn't want that, I would need to pay for special 'custom' mats that were much more expensive, which is what I thought I paid for. I paid $65 for these mats and for that price, they should be well made. I asked for a refund, which they refused to give me. In fact, I wasn't offered anything, not even an apology. They wouldn't even recut new ones for me. The sales person was completely unsympathetic. I didn't make a scene and left as I am not one to speak to the manager. I have spent many years working in the service and hospitality industry and the customer service here is the worst I've seen. I am happy to spend my money here as long as I get what I paid for. Was debating on leaving a review but reading that other people have had similar negative experiences here, I decided it was worth it since it seems it wasn't just pandemic stress affecting this employee. The young white guy with short brown hair and blue eyes is super rude. How do you make a short minimal contact curbside pick-up that unpleasant? He could be way more patient as this is new for customers and we don't know how it all works. He slammed my car's trunk door really hard too after bringing me my order. I'd rather drive to the Pasadena Michaels and give them my business than see that guy again. Monrovia Michaels manager, a lot of people want jobs. This is probably one of my least favorite Michael's locations. This store is in need of some remodeling. It is dark and dismal. I do like that Michael's has a decent selection of craft supplies. The prices are not always the best, but you can get coupons in the Sunday news paper or off the internet. I have been known to visit Michael's several times in one week when I'm working on a project just to use multiple 40% off coupons for supplies. A word to the wise: for basic craft supplies check out the inventory and prices at WalMart or Target first as you might get a better deal. read more

During this pandemic, the store offered only curb side pick up. Ordered my 2 small items (under $10) online and after 2 hrs, decided to head to the store figuring by chance it was ready. Called when I got there and told it would be ready by end of day. I waited in car 45 min as I was not available to pick up next day because I had to work. Thirty minutes before closing, I called and spoke to same person and was told my items would now not be ready till the next day. Very disappointing as I only saw 2 curbside pickups in 45 min I sat in my car. Will consider heading to Wal-Mart down the street next time and pick items off the shelf myself for faster service. read more

Michael's is one of my favorite arts-and-crafts store. They have such a variety of selections to choose from. Honestly, it's like an artist's perfect world. I would have to say though that the store needs just a little tidying up, since some things were on the floor. Other than that, the staff and environment were wonderful. This place is just SO close to work, that I am pretty much always here during my lunch hour. Since Christmas is just around the order, I am just here trying to pick up as much arts and crafts ideas and supplies to make my holidays more merrier. Staffs here are very nice and knowledgeable, even if they are new. They actually know where everything is at. I found that they teach assorted classes thru out the day, and after speaking to one of them about particular yarn and knitting needles. Michaels has framing, crafts, and art supplies. The art supplies section of the store seems to always be lacking their supplies. Turpentine for oils is not available at store sometimes. And some of their paint brushes had paint on them in store and oil brushes were sparse. This is the closest art store in my area. Blicks is further away and I shop at Michaels when I need to get supplies quickly and the parking is more convenient. I shop in there when I need lower quality/affordable versions of supplies. It would be nice if Michaels were more professional with their care and selection of art supplies. read more

I asked one of the employees if he could check if they had any more inventory. He replied that the probably did but replenishing the shelves was done by the morning staff. I go to Michael's and expect to find what I want and never do. When will I learn my lesson? Never enough cashiers and today they didn't have white, red or green tissue paper and the ribbon I wanted was in the fourth place I looked, and one time I wanted stickers that had number on them and they didn't have that, and once I came in October and the Thanksgiving stuff was gone, and their dollar bins are now two dollars. I am SOO HAPPY they finally fixed the long lines here! They recently moved where the lines started at the front and added more registers. The lines here used to be a nightmare even on weekdays but now it's MUCH better! Michaels is my go-to store for art supplies. I have always enjoyed shopping at Michaels. I bought a lot of DIY wedding stuff here and I had a blast make invitations, cards, favors and etc for my wedding! However my recent experience at this particular store was a bit disappointing. This review does not reflect on the store's selection or product, this review is for one of their cashiers. Upon arriving at the cashier, this lady name Rozet asked me if I want to sign up for reward card, I politely declined. She rang up my stuff and asked me again to sign up for reward program. I declined again by saying that I am not interested and I don't like getting junk mail. After I paid, she said " well it's free to sign up". I said " No thanks. " I guess third time is not a charm for Rozet. She rolled her eyes at me and threw me a plastic bag with receipt in the bag while my goodies were on the cashier's counter. I wasn't sure what she was going to do, was she going to bag it for me? or what was she waiting for? well after about 10 secs of awkwardness, I picked up my stuff and bagged it myself. So message for Ms. Rozet or any management who cares to read this: signing up for your royalty program or not is really not a deal breaker in any retail transaction. Please don't throw a fit when your customers are not interested in getting junk email every week. read more

I am sooo over this place. It seems like every time I need something and I come here to try and find it, they just dont have it. AAARRGGHH! Ohhh well they have a lot of the usual crap you would expect from this place. Kits for different types of things. School projects, science stuff, picture framing, and lots of crazy eclectic crap for holidays. None the less I came here seeking something specific and the staff had no clue what I was after. I ended up wandering the store and finding the right section on my own. When I found the section, I looked around and unfortunately was unable to find what I specifically was looking for. None the less I found a once again unhelpful staff who didnt know their own store. None of the specific things that I wanted in the few items that they did carry. Ohhh well it was my fault for having tried to come here after several other fails. My review went from 4 stars to 1 star and here's why: Last weekend I came here to buy some more items for my DIY wedding projects and there were long lines as always and only 2 cashiers open and moving at a snail pace. Well anyways, I had just came from the nearby dog park in Arcadia and wanted to wash my hands. I went to the very back of the store, through the double doors and into the "employees only" area and headed towards the woman's restroom. A woman (whom I found out later that she was the manager on duty) came out of the room next door, the employee break room, and stepped into the restroom. I head a toilet flush (this is important why I heard this, I promise you I'm not a creeper) and then shortly after the door opens and back she goes into the employee break room to consume the rest of her lunch. I go inside and turn on the sink and push the soap dispenser to get some soap. No soap comes out... and at this time, I am pumping that soap dispenser pretty forceful because I want to wash my hands with soap No dice... so I ended up only rinsing my hands off with water and had to use toilet paper to dry my hands and then left the restroom. (I pulled out my hand sanitizer out of my purse and used that, but hand sanitizer is no excuse for washing hands the ol' fashion way). As soon as I was leaving, I saw another employee and told her about the soap needed refilling and also paper towels as well. She told me she won't do it right now because she is on her break.... um okay that's the wrong thing to say to a customer. How about you go and just do it because it will only take you a few minutes and then tell your supervisor that you did it and you get an extra 5 minutes added to your break? Whatever, apparently this store does not value cleanliness... regardless of the sign that states that all employees must wash their hands after using the restroom. Anyways, later on I find the items that I want to purchase and wait in the ridiculously long line for probably 15 minutes? Eventually a manager is called to come to one of the cashiers to handle a transaction. That woman who went in the restroom before me came up and handled the situation. I was pretty grossed out the first time that she did not wash her hands after using the restroom and heading back to the break room to consume the rest of her lunch. And now I am even more grossed out that she is now opening another cashier to help bring this long line down and still probably did not wash her hands (this is less than 10 minutes since this restroom incident) and spreading her fecal matter all over the store. (Now you may think I'm a germ-a-phobe, but I don't like someone touching my items after they used the restroom & have not washed their hands yet) I am totally disappointed and overly disgusted by such behavior, especially when this employee is a manager. What does that say about the rest of the staff? Keep in mind that the majority of employees here are females... so did the other female employees not wash their hands too? Eww, totally gross! This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. read more

Customer service is unprofessional. Asked for zipper lubricant, the employee told me she has never heard of such thing. The least she can do is asking what it is for and perhaps refer me to someone or somewhere that may have this type of items. Never going back to this Michaels again.
