This is for the Hobby lobby location located in Pasadena. There aren't too many other locations nearby so this is the place to go if you're looking for a store for crafts and other items. They're a lot more Michaels stores and this might be the first integration of Hobby lobby here in this area. I know there is one out in West Covina, and that might be the next closest location, but that's still quite a distance away. Everything is very well organized here. It does feel a little bit dated inside, even though this is a newer store. I can't remember if they took over a mervyns or Sears or something but everything is very well organized, and very easy to find where things are. The checkout process is a little bit of a bottleneck. Maybe it's not easier to do self check out kiosks otherwise they would've done it already. On the way out, there was a lady that was upset because the registers are staggered in a specific way, and she either overshot it and I didn't understand the flow of things so she was upset about how she wasn't able to check out yet The immediate area right outside Hobby lobby is a little bit chaotic. A lot of cars and lots of people are trying to park here so sometimes the directional flow things proves to be a little bit challenging for people. It is a bit hectic so don't drive too fast. read more

Horrible customer service. There are only two lines open in the store and there are extremely long lines. The assistant managers/ managers are in no hurry to help and have other workers assist. I came to return an item and accidentally stood in the wrong line for about 10 mins and the cashier, instead of doing the return he tells me to get in another long line. Went to have a painting framed, that I've had since the 90's. It was done by a family member and I am quite fond of it. A pretty good reproduction of an original Gauguin that happens to be in a nearby Pasadena art museum. Well, we paid a visit to Hobby Lobby, as we were picking up some things from nearby Whole Foods. The store occupies Sear's old location on Foothill. It's a huge place and designed to get you to walk around for things as signage isn't plentiful or helpful. Shelves are high so unless you are very tall you need to search around, guess they took that cue from Costco, it works if you aren't in a hurry. We were happy to find they had a framing department and also a fabric area, which, since the sad closing of JoAnne's, I was glad to see for the ghost of my mother who enjoyed sewing. I'm focusing on the Framing department and the friendly efficient gentleman in charge of that department, his name is Theo. He was helpful and friendly from the start. Their framing prices are posted as 50% off, which sounded great, but I guess the original prices need to be considered before seeing this as a good deal. Well, we checked on one style which had always been our original style we felt appropriate for this art work. We visited Tahiti a couple of years ago and and saw some Gaugain copies framed in a similar style, it works very well, so we inquired as to cost and estimated the size as we didn't have the painting with us. It was very reasonable compared to the frame shops we have checked over the decades, yes, decades! It was a very fair price, not knowing the quality of the work was something to consider, but Theo was very efficient and knew his products and was very meticulous. We could tell we were in very good hands. We were quoted, less the 50%, a little under $100 before tax. A very fair price. We were given a "finish by date", and 5 days before that date I gave a call to check on status, I was told it would be done in a couple of days. I was surprised and happy to receive a message later that day from Theo that our framing job was finished and available for pick up. We got over there that evening and Though Theo was gone then, a nice young lady got our finished product for us. It looked very nice. She walked us and the painting up to the lone cashier, as that is their policy, and we waited in line to pay. They did open another register as the line was about 6 people deep. I'm not going to get into their company politics, but over all it was a positive experience, especially thanks to Theo and his friendly, knowledgeable service and framing skill. A few days ago, my daughter and I were shopping at Hobby Lobby and came across the most beautiful glass reindeer. We liked them so much that we decided to come back a few days later to purchase them. Unfortunately, when we returned, we couldn't find them anywhere. We happened to see Ronel and described the reindeer to him. He was kind enough to help us look, but he couldn't find them either. At that point, my daughter and I gave up and got in line to pay for the other items we had selected. Then, unexpectedly, Ronel walked up beside us and asked, "Is this what you were looking for?" My daughter and I were so excited! We both said at the same time, Yes. What made this experience so special was that Ronel didn't forget about us. Even though he couldn't find the reindeer when we first asked, he continued looking until he found them. Ronel provided truly outstanding customer service. He went above and beyond what was expected, and his thoughtfulness made our shopping experience memorable. Ronel, you are an example of what excellent customer service looks like. On a Saturday afternoon in May, I finally got the chance to visit the new store at the old Sears. They did a nice job of making its own. The space is huge once I entered the store. They carry wide variety of stuff. From toys, crafts, fabrics, some furniture, etc. The aisles were clean and stocked up. The line was long with 2 cashiers and I didn't have patience to wait. Located within the Hastings Ranch Plaza shopping center, this newly opened location of Hobby Lobby is the epitome of what a craft store should be. There is a lot of competition in the craft store space, with stores like Michael's, Jo-Anns along with the biggest player in Walmart, not to mention the on-line presence. But there must be a business driver for a person-to-person retail store of this size opening in this area. Hobby Lobby is still privately owned, and does not hide the beliefs of its founding and conservative history, selling quite a bit of Christian displays around the store. But it's not as in-your-face as I expected. We stopped in while visiting Pasadena, and was really impressed with the retail area. Two things I noticed right away: how large the indoor space was, allowing distinct areas for each type of hobby, so people could be in-n-out quickly once they found what they want. The other thing was how many employees were available....it seemed like every aisle had somebody working, and I dare say that in some areas, there were more employees willing to help than customers actually shopping. It would take quite a while to see everything here. Some things that caught my eye: - artificial flowers and plants section, right when you walk in - very large fabric department, with a permanent employee ready to help. - a very good framing department, as nice as stores dedicated exclusively to selling frames. We ended up buying a nice, inexpensive frame for a picture that we had bought on vacation earlier this year, and because there were so many choices, changed our minds a couple of times on what to buy. And they had so many different sizes, all organized very well. - one can just wander the store when trying to decorate a home. We are past that point (trying to keep downsizing if anything), but really appreciate the designers of this new retail space, doing this for people who are looking for inspiration. read more

Just keep your expectations low and you'll do fine. Sometimes you just need to get your glue sticks and dried flowers on the fly without driving across town and Hobby Lobby fills that gap. The store is littered with cheap junk from China that will be filling up our landfills in the foreseeable future but that's what you sign up for when when you walk in the door. And speaking of walking in the door, the photo attached is what greeted me from the start letting me know christian nationalism is what's on the menu to enhance (or not) your shopping experience. And the music, oh lord the music. I should take a cue from my teenager and wear headphones. There is a ton of parking and they do have a public restroom. You just need to ask for the code. The store is one gigantic craft store! It's a crafter heaven! They have a large selection from toys to figurines to art work and seasons. Some of the value of these supplies are not bad. However, the prices are hard to find. Word of advice for this location at least, take a picture of the price before going to checkout. We had 3 items that didn't have a price on them and we had to wait for someone to do a price check. The service is what is deserving of 3 stars. At the checkout register, they had to MANUALLY type in all the items. One lady across from us said, "I have to pick up my daughter, can you please hurry?" I saw someone using a scanner, but everyone else had to type it in. There was also no urgency with some of the cashiers. This is not a place to go if you're limited on time. Also, no tap feature so bring cash or your physical card. read more

He truly went above and beyond to ensure my aunt felt completely comfortable and confident about getting the perfect frame for her delicate diamond art. Knowing how important and fragile the piece was, Steve took the time to explain that the framer in the picture frame department would be in the next day and would take special care of her project. Customer service and common sense seem to be lacking at this location. We had to ask several people to help find items we needed and only one was sort of friendly. The rest (including the manager) acted as if our questions were a bother to them. Absolutely none of the employees had smiles on their faces and did not seem happy to be there. In addition to this, prices posted are not the same as prices when you go to the checkout and when presented with proof of a pricing error they did nothing to rectify it. Very poor customer service. My mother was trying to pay 10 dollars in coins, but said no which we understood and asked if she can do 5. She again said no so then asked if she can do 2 dollars. Two older women in the fabric and sewing department were very rude. I was looking at ribbon in the aisle and one employee said "get out of my way" to me and my sister. Then a couple minutes later I had picked up a roll of pearl trim. I didn't know but the roll had already been opened. As soon as I picked it up the other employee snapped at me to not open it. I said I was sorry I didn't know it had been opened when I picked it up but I was not the one who ripped it, she rolled her eyes and shook her head. This store will have everything you need. It's clean it's organized. It's great. It will take you less time to find what you're looking for than it will to check out. This is my fourth time in and although I love the store, I don't know if I'm coming back. They never ever have enough checkers. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me there was absolutely nothing that she could do that. She had to stand there in Greek people in case there was an emergency on the floor.
