The shower is leaking and the lawn needs watering, so I jumped into the car to get what I need. Although this is an Ace store, coupons are site specific and are not shared among the hardware stores. Oh well, I'll need to be more careful reading that fine print, but got what I needed and not wasting time looking for the right hardware. Although not the cheapest, it is the most convenient to my home, so I'll be shopping here for a little longer...

Instead of searching through a huge warehouse, hoping to find someone to help you, everything here is right in front of you, and there's plenty of help if you need it. We brought in a screen door to have the screen replaced. The price was very reasonable, and the quality of work was top notch. They said it might take a day or two, but the work was completed later the same day. So many local hardware stores have closed up recently. We're sure glad Arnold's is here!

They will guide you through the a-la-carte screws, nails, nuts, and bolts with expertness, making sure that the style, strength, and size of the hardware fits your project's needs. The prices for most items are competitive with big box stores-- items like PVC pipe, wood filler, and hardware are cheaper at Altadena Hardware in a side-by-side comparison to big box stores. If you purchase materials like wood or pipe, they can cut it for you for transport! The selection of paint, hardware, garden supplies, light bulbs, power tools, adhesives, and most other typical household hardware needs are excellent. Based on size, they don't stock as much lumber or appliances as big box stores. Very helpful -- they do cartridge exchange for Soda Stream!! And have many options of Soda Stream flavorings. They also sell local honey up at the cash register! Altadena Hardware is my first choice for hardware needs!

But whenever I need…read moresomething that is hardware related I think of Tritch, particularly if it's a hard to find item, because typically if they don't carry it, they can tell me where to find it. I just had a security screen installed over our front door, so this mean having locks rekeyed so that the security screen door and the front door could be opened using one key. Because I have a large extended family, I needed 10 copies of the house key made. This wasn't a specialty key, just a standard off the shelf Kwikset key. I went to the KeyMe vending machine at our local Albertsons supermarket. Their cost was $11 per key. There was a special offer in which if you had the machine duplicate two keys, it would throw in a third for free. I was tempted to just get my 10 keys made then and there in order to save time, but then I remembered Tritch Hardware in Eagle Rock. I went into the store today, and they were able to cut the 10 keys while I waited, for less than the cost of 3 keys at the Key Me machine. I can't say enough good things about the staff at Tritch.

I was looking for a door stop to prevent the door hitting the kitchen counter, and was only able to find it here. Using the Yelp application, it lead me a roundabout way to get to the store that is on Santa Anita, but road construction and traffic does not allow you to turn in from the southbound side of the avenue. If ever I am fixing my home, I'll come here first for specific tools or parts that can't be found at the chain stores...

Craftsman ratchet bought at ACE froze. Website says take any defective wrenches to swap. Walked in…read more& counter attendant asked what I needed rather dry. I explained & he said "we don't sell Craftsman, go to Home Depot!" . Never mind that I bought the set at ACE, perhaps something changed or this particular store doesn't have or doesn't like to honor warranties, or the attendants just don't appreciate their jobs or customers. I called Lowe's Covina & Edgar in Tools said "craftsman are guaranteed for life, bring it in & we'll swap it...but please give me the size & I'll make sure we have it in stock". 25 minutes later I walked out of Lowe's with a brand new replacement wrench. We're told to buy local and that ACE has better service than "big box stores". Unfortunately that is not true. I wish Max's Hardware only the best, but I will NEVER return to this store and will cancel my ACE discount/rewards card membership.
