Having been feeling very disappointed with The Home Depot lately, I have decided to avoid shopping there at all costs. My rolling gate has been problematic for the past 3 weeks, ever since that heavy rainstorm we had in late December. To mitigate this gate problem, I went to Ace Hardware of West LA and bought white lithium grease. After several applications, I see very little improvements. The gate is still stuck and wouldn't slide easily. So, I decided, for the first time, to go to Ace Hardware in Temple City to find another solution. Located next to Ralph's, I believe this place used to be Rite Aid. It is really nice that this Ace store isn't really big. Walking down the aisle, I was able to find the section on my own. There were a variety of WD-40's and white lithium grease. I also noticed that their prices are lower than the Ace West LA's prices. For sure I'll be coming back to this Temple City location. Not knowing what works best against rusts, I went up to the staff member asking for advice. He recommended the WD40 Penetrant which supposedly can break down and penetrate rust. I just applied it to the rolling gate's wheels this afternoon, going to leave it overnight, and see what happens. The store looks super clean and very well organized!! The Home Depot is so huge that it can be quite intimidating. You can end up spending hours in there trying to find what you're looking for. Ace Hardware is a much smaller, thus shopper-friendly store. You go in and out. They have outdoor furniture and garden power tools! I am not a contractor or handyman, so Ace Hardware suffices my basic DIY needs. Thank goodness, they also carry Benjamin Moore Paint. I have been using Behr Paint for decades, but unfortunately only The Home Depot carries this brand. Now that I don't want to shop at the Home Depot anymore, I'm going to switch to Benjamin Moore Paint for my next DIY projects. I'm very thankful for Ace Hardware!! read more

Ace Hardware (est 2024/11) is a brand new hardware retail store located in a large plaza in Temple City. Its store is very spacious, organized and very clean. Similarly, it's well lit and smells like a brand new car. lol. They sell a wide range of products, such as building materials, fasteners, hand tools, power tools, keys, locks, hinges, chains, plumbing supplies, electrical supplies, cleaning products, housewares, bulbs, grilling tools, utensils, paint, and lawn and garden products. I came to look for light bulbs for my desk lamp. And they have what I was looking for. Staff were competent, friendly and professional. Prices seem fair. Overall, it's a nice hardware store. read more

Why do we have so few stores like this? When did we start to frown on service people? I checked at my local ACE store today in Temple City. The first person I met was Irving who greeted me at the door. I asked him about a product and he directed me to Jeff. Jeff knew what I was asking for and actually listened to the crazy description of what I was trying to do. Unknown to me at the time he had a product I never heard of that made my project easier....even with other options I hadn't considered. Service like Jeff's is disappearing and I hope the store considers him a value... especially today. I also had the pleasure of meeting Kevin in electrical and Shawn who seemed to be everywhere. Staff is friendly here but their policies and pricing is deceiving. I found a product that they had in stock but because I was looking on my phone from a different city, they couldn't honor that price. Apparently each store has a different price. No exception could be made even to match a price on their own website. I'm sure I'm not the only person who wasted their time visiting this store. read more

A brand new Ace Hardware right next door to Ralphs! The store is just the right size and has everthing I'm looking for. I'm always shopping for lawn and plant care, as well as home maintenance goods to keep the home working. Well, everything is checked off and relatively the same price as the bigbox hardware stores, but with nicer staff and alot cleaner too. On a Saturday morning in early December, I came here for grand open deals. It wasn't to busy yet. The greeter was nice and hand me an ace bag to fill inside of 20%. The aisles are clean and well stocked. They sell bbq grills, household stuff, hardware stuff, metal stiff, Xmas stuff. No garden stuff as fyi. I bought a few items and saved few dollars. The line to pay was short and enough parking. They also sell frozen pies next the cashiers, such as Apple pie, peach cobblers. Etc. read more

Went in to buy some screws for wall hangings and a salesman by the name of Andrew (Dimas I think) was very helpful in showing me where they were and which screws served my needs best. Loved it. It was as if I had stepped back in time (a much more memorably pleasant era. Warm greeting at the door, plenty of pleasant assistance if needed, wide selection displayed on non-cluttered aisles, reasonable prices and personal checkout. Awesome store. The family that owns the store is really hands on. Perfect store for the gardener, mini homesteader or diyer. Plenty of supplies like Tractor Supply. Home improvement, gardening, patio, pet supplies, tools. Store is well stocked. If you live in Temple City or SW Arcadia, this is better than driving to HD in El Monte. read more

I was excited that they opened a small hardware store in my area and I finally had a chance to check it out. I went to get some pots to replant some plants. When I got to the register the price listed on the shelf was incorrect, by $10.00 per pot! I went back to show them the price and the whole shelf was incorrectly priced. The young man that helped me, said he would ask the manager to honor the price listed. Two managers came over and I explained the situation and they refused to make any exceptions and very rude. So needless to say, I will not be returning and I will go back to Home Depot. So disappointed. Management needs to work on their customer service skills. read more

This review is regarding our experience returning a product that did not work for us. We purchased a ladder that we thought would fit in our storage space. Before purchasing we asked about the return policy because if it didn't fit in our storage space we'd have to return it. The young guy that assisted us said that would be fine as long as it wasn't used, in the same packaging and within 30 days. When we got home the ladder did not fit our storage. The next day was a holiday so we went to return the ladder the day after and was questioned like we were on trial by a woman, possibly manager, in the store. It was clear she did not want to allow us to return it, despite the return policy. Thankfully, the guy (who helped us when we made the purchase) was there and came up to assist. To our surprise, she still persisted with her questions. My husband, a very patient guy, advised that nothing was wrong with the ladder, no tape or packaging was removed and wondered what the problem was, especially since the guy remembered him. We were FINALLY able to return the ladder but the experience was awful and definitely not customer friendly. This was our first time shopping at an Ace Hardward store and can't say we'll return to this location. Sheesh! read more
