Ever since moving to San Gabriel over 30 years ago, this has been my hardware store for home maintenance. They always have what I need and now it's plumbing. The shower is leaking and the lawn needs watering, so I jumped into the car to get what I need. Although this is an Ace store, coupons are site specific and are not shared among the hardware stores. Oh well, I'll need to be more careful reading that fine print, but got what I needed and not wasting time looking for the right hardware. I moved away from San Gabriel. But I still come to mission hardware to o get my hardware. My car fab so opted working again. I could only think of Mission hardware. Because they always know what to do with it. I know it's just a simple change of battery. But it overwhelmed me with this task, hehe! The helpful Gary at the store came to the rescue! He "OPERATED" swiftly. I was in-and -out of the store in 5 minutes. I usually don't write reviews. But I want good old fashion stores like this just keep doing whatever they are doing.... We have 7 window screen replaced, all were well done. It took 4 days to have the screens made which is totally acceptable. It would be good if they can use the hollow / loop pull tab which makes us easier to remove the window screen. The price has almost doubled comparing with the price before the pandemic. Today 5/26/2026, I am greatly appreciated by the excellent service provided by the staff Arron S. . He carried the window screens to our car as some of them are big. He helped to load our purchased stuff into the car. The cashier accidentally made an input error by charging us the regular price of the bark nuggets instead of the sales price, Arron helped to solve this issue quick. He was so friendly, so helpful. Omg, first off they have pies!!! I didn't get one but I will!!!! Look at all these flavors!!!! I went in today to get two items to fix my toilet and bathroom sink. I don't remember his name but he was really helpful. I showed him the parts I needed and he came through. He walked me to the areas I needed and pulled the items off the shelf for me. Everything fit perfectly. I bought the parts I needed online. Everything was wrong. This is why we need a physical store with actual employees that know what they're doing. Not only were the parts wrong they were double the cost. I spent $12 for my parts at mission. Versus $25 online. At the end at check our guess what??? They had WORLDS FINEST CHOCOLATE. I got there when it opened and my reason for visiting was to get some keys made. I've had a key made at another keysmith location that wasn't successful. I was hoping this location would be able to. I brought the padlock so they can try the copy to make sure it works. The staff assisted me with this specific key for about 15-20 minutes. He had used several blanks in order to get it right. I was about to give up until he tried something with a paperclip and it worked!! As I was waiting, I took a look at some other key blanks and found a blank I really liked to use for another set of keys to be made. There were a lot of options to choose from and the pricing wasn't bad. Even though this order took over 30 minutes, this staff member went above and beyond to make it work for me! I visited this location 11/05/25 at 12:40 p.m for a brown patio chair and was met by an associate who immediately told me there was none. Then when I questioned further, she told me that she only had white, while still standing in the same place not even checking the back house inventory. I even showed her a picture and she repeated "only in white". I asked her if I could order it online and she told me to go on the app. To no know is one thing, but to be lazy and not even check for items is another. While I was getting ready to leave with no help a wonderful associate by the name of Destiny asked to see my picture. After I showed her she immediately went to go check the back and guess what she found? The brown patio chair I was looking for. She rang me with a smile on her face and asked if I needed anything else while the first associate ignored our whole interaction. The difference between the first associate and Destiny is what keeps businesses afloat or lets them sink with terrible customer service. Destiny made my experience a breeze, while the other ladies laziness and rude attitude almost made me not want to come back. read more

Mission Super Hardware is a mom and pop shop hardware store that partners with Ace Hardware to source some of their products. Per the handy boyfriend, they carry some of the niche products that Home Depot and Lowes might not have. Also they sell some nuts and bolts and things in whatever quantity you want, instead of buying a big packet at the retailers. It was also nice to look at the items unpackaged so you can be hands on and examine the item out of package. We were here to look at some small hardware pieces for home repairs and they had exactly what we needed. The store was generally organized and items were easy to locate. What really surprised me was the weird service we got at check out. Typically I find mom and pop shops to be friendlier but there was this grumpy dude at the cashier. He looked busy like he could be doing inventory or on the phone so we were waiting for the first available cashier. He was like are you ready or what? Ummmm... I didn't know YOU were available. Most people say, "next customer?" but he had to be a real grumpy jerk about it. The store isn't even busy enough for him to be so grumpy. I definitely get wayyyyy better service at Home Depot and Lowes. I enjoy supporting small businesses, but the service was such a turn off. It makes sense to come here for niche items and small quantities but I really hate to admit I prefer Lowes for my common household needs. read more

Great to see that Mission Hardware is still around and doing well. I use to come here regularly as a kid with my dad. The prices are still fair and competitive. I recently visited to make copies of keys. The efficiency of this place was great, I was in and out within 7-10 minutes, which included payment. This place isn't overwhelming compared to big box stores and more often than not, I just want to get in, quickly buy what I need, and get out. There's ample parking. Everything you need! This store feels like a mom and pop store in a small town. Service is excellent, and the selection is better than what you might find in larger Ace stores. Plus they sell pies! I went to this store spcifically because they have a selection of wall-mount kitchen faucets, which are hard to find. WOW! Talk about great customer service! This place definitely has it! I've been to this ACE Hardware store in the past, now-and-then, but for the past several months I have been coming here more often. More often than Home Depot or Lowes. The customer service at this location blows away the "customer service" from either HD or Lowes! At ACE, you can approach ANYONE who works there, and they'll help in any department. Not at all like the other two aforementioned hardware stores; if you approach an employee for help, they'll tell you that it's not their department, but may try to get assistance for you. The prices at ACE are competitive. In fact, some items are cheaper than at either of the other two stores. ACE even stocks items that the other two stores don't carry; with the other two stores, you have to order the items online and then wait. Also, when ordering items online for pick up later, ACE has your items ready in 15 minutes or less. And that's a fact. I've ordered plenty of items online from ACE and are ready to pickup in 15 minutes, sometimes less than 15 minutes. Lowes is somewhat decent, but I rarely order an item from them for pickup. Home Depot--terrible! Most of the time it takes two hours or more to have your items ready for pickup. Or, on some occasions, the item is supposedly in the lockers for pickup, but its not! I have to then go to customer for them to find it for me. Most of the time HD just makes it inconvenient to order items online for pickup later...MUCH later! Such an UNDERRATED place. Mom and pop shop but they have the friendliest workers and the best part is the fact that they the cheapest place to duplicate keys! It was only 88 cents whereas Home Depot is at least almost $4. I have also been here before to bring in a broken piece of my bathtub and they were able to locate a new part for me. Another time I came here was when I tried to replace my garage spring. Although they didn't have it, they did try to find it and help me out. What's up: I had to duplicate one of my keys and decided to stop by Mission since I was in the area. Parking: They have a private lot that's accessible from Valley Blvd as well as on Stevens Ave. If I'm heading East on Valley Blvd, I personally like to turn onto Stevens Ave to enter the lot directly so I'm not blocking traffic when I wait to make my turn. Environment: Masks were required. The key duplication area is located towards the back of the store, on the left. Look for the sign that says Ace Services and a giant key hanging from the sign. The staff member that helped me got my key duplicate quick. When finished, line up at the front counter to check out. Be sure to follow the signs because they had the check out line wrap around on the inner side of the aisles (it was not like that the previous times I came). What was ordered: - Single Cut Key (duplicated my key quickly!) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The key duplication was fast and easy. The staff member was friendly and the key worked great. ACE was having a closeout on patio sling chairs for under $20 so we made the trek to San Gabriel. Plenty of parking, good location, small old school hardware store. Seemed like there were lots of workers helping people. The chairs are nice, seemed just like the $40 ones we bought last year, just different color. read more

The last couple of times I've gone in, I've gotten insufficient advice turning problems into projects. I tried to return a leatherman I purchased in another state's ACE. I came in with an attitude to see if it was possible, never once demanded the return happen. I would have been content to learn that they can't accept this return for reasons XYZ if they were actually legit. But that's not what happened. The store manager not only tried to patronize me by giving me a "lesson"("When you bought this leatherman, did I receive the money? No I didn't, right?"), but also falsely claimed that customers can only return products they buy to the same ACE store or an ACE stores with the same owner. He went on to tell me there are over 6000+ owners nationwide and unless the stores are owned by the same person, nobody can cross-return. ACE store policy tells me otherwise, which means he basically lied straight to my face and wanted to make me feel inferior to his antagonizing questioning. Always happy to shop at ACE, and I will continue to, just not at this one. If you are into businesses whose manager/owner has the integrity to not lie about the store policy and not talk condescendingly at customers, avoid this one. If this is your neighborhood ACE and it's hard to avoid, please be aware of dealing with the manager, he's Caucasian, 60+, and would jump on the first opportunity to tell you what he thinks you don't know and lie. read more

If you are in need of a special screw, this is your store! Their assortiment is one of the largest I have ever seen I need a specific tiny screw to fit on a brass bathroom handle. Nestor took over my search and spend the time to find the perfect fit in the right color ; Price: 50 cents, yes fifty cents! Dino the manager jokes with the customers but is very attentive to their needs! I loved this store in Alhambra and would recommend it to anyone with a special requirement. This zero-star review is overdue. I bought some toilet item a few months ago and wanted to pay with my Ace Hardware gift card which I bought legitimately from Paypal.com. The Japanese female cashier said she couldn't scan the digital barcode on the printed e-gift card and called the store manager (white fat dude with mustache) immediately. She was too lazy and didn't even bother to type the gift card numbers and pin with her keypad (lied to me that there is no function to do it on her cash register). That is BS. I have seen it before. The fat manager accused me of using a fake Ace Hardware e-gift card in front of other customers. I told him to call his corporate office immediately to verify if my e-gift card is legit or not. Of course, he was too lazy to do. I didn't want to cause a scene and just paid with my credit card. I learned my lesson not to buy an e-gift card from Ace Hardware or will not shop at this store again. I will drive further to Alhambra or Monterey Park Home Depot.
