I was in the neighborhood walking around and walked into this store. I did not purchase anything, but all the staff members we've encountered were very well versed in the hobby. They were extremely friendly and provided me with some insight into this hobby. There were a lot of figurines available, and supplies to paint them. They hold sessions that do not crossover to local shops nearby (Odyssey games, geeky teas, Pegasus, etc.). This is one of 3 Warhammer cafes and the displays they have on the floor come from the European countries. They only sale and allow Warhammer related items in the store. They have some tables where people can play for free and use their space for any social gatherings for Warhammer. They host events here and there for people to learn or gain knowledge in this world. They also have a little Cafe inside where you can get some desserts and drinks. The figurines are costly and this is a very expensive hobby. Even though I didnt purchase anything, they were all very friendly and didnt force us to purchase anything. I believe their intent is to educate people in the art of RPGs and the amazing skills it takes to paint and create figurines. No judgments are given to those who walk into the store. read more

If you partake in Warhammer, this is the place to be! Whether you build/paint, play, or read, this cafe has everything!!! I was a beginner when I stumbled in and the staff was super friendly and helpful. They have tips on gameplay, painting techniques, or if you just wanna chat about lore and the new books that are coming out, it's so cool that they're into the hobby and not just there to press buttons on the register. The store is massive and has epic displays throughout, definitely walk around and all the way to the back where the tables are. You can sit there and build/paint or bring your army and use their terrain to play a game; and if you have questions while playing or want to learn to play there's ALWAYS someone knowledgeable to help. Their book section is probably the nicest in the area, they get perks for being the official LA cafe so you can find special Black Library editions which is super exciting for people like me and my mans who have a small library at home. All in all, I love this place, and if you have any interest at all in the world of Warhammer definitely check it out. We had such a fun time! Steven (Stephen? Unsure) was awesome!! It was my partner's first time back to a warhammer store since he was a kid and Steven was so helpful and welcoming. He answered all of our questions and would check in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. He is their best painter and you can definitely tell, his work is even on display!! They had a really great collection of 40k, Age of Sigmar, and LOTR. i do wish we saw more Fantasy, but its not very popular so it's totally fair. I also grabbed a peach tea and a strawberry cream cheese croissant and they were both refreshing and delicious. They even shared their weekly calendar and offered paint help if we ever needed it!! HIGHLY recommend coming by to this Warhammer store. My boyfriend and I came with very little understanding of the game (did not even realize that there was a build component to it). We knew we wanted to paint figurines and loosely understood the story but that was about it. Seriously so glad we made the decision to come here, because all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in sharing all the ins-and-outs of Warhammer in the most welcoming and beginner friendly way. In fact, they even do complementary lessons on how to build and paint a figure and they share tricks and introduce you to the game lore! After the staff patiently indulged in all our questions about the tools and process involved, we headed over to the backside of the store, which is a cafe where you can build and play. I went to the Warhammer Store and Cafe yesterday. As a beginner to the hobby I was just trying to find some paints and tools to start me on my journey into the Horus Heresy with my Salamanders. I asked one of the workers for help and I could tell he loves his job with how friendly he was with a lot of other customers with him knowing the names of regulars. He helped me get all the paints I needed for my Salamanders and all the tools I could need. I did end up forgetting something and went back into spend more money and ask more questions to another worker. Both of the workers were really nice and I wish I could remember their names to give them a shoutout. If your new to the hobby check this amazing place out and if your interested in painting make sure to give them them a call first to schedule a free painting lesson which is what I'm doing the next time I'm able to come by. read more

Never in my life did I think I'd be leaving a review for Warhammer (nor did I know what it was!) but here we are! Sometimes it pays to be late lol. Was running late finishing up with some car issues so my friend ventured in here. Little did I know what I was in for! Honestly Ethan made the experience for us! He was demoing some things to my friend and asked if I wanted to paint a model, I'm all about trying new things, sign me up! Of course there's the traditional colors and things but I made shades of pinks and blues, topped it w some antiquing and blood. Ethan was everything you'd want an experience like this to be! Funny af, knowledgeable, endearing, sincere and the list goes on. He knows his shit tho! I got educated on the game, the figurines, the company, this history of it, the paints, products in the store. I know there's more to what he does but it def be fun to shoot the shit w chill ppl a couple hours a day. I had a really good time and would absolutely do this again. My friend actually went back two days later, he said Ethan wasn't there but they had fun still. He reignited his love of this and has been painting and making figures again. Like I said I never saw myself here but absolutely loved it, and the paints water based so it washed right off when I noticed I had some on my bracelet. Incredibly uncomfortable. Hard sell I haven't seen in a GW store in decades, which I had the misfortune to overhear. No, GW: you didn't invent tabletop miniatures gaming, and if this employee in particular wasn't using a pre-prepared script, then he had all the genuine honesty of one of the ads in which you promise that "this game is the same you love, with only a few things changed." One employee did not know about any of the units they were asked about. When another customer seemed to be surprised at the low stock of Forge World items desired (you know, the reason you drive to a GW Cafe in the first place,) the response was a baffling "well, you know, Forge World is only five guys in England, and they don't always know what will sell" as if it was 2005 and the customer was looking for terrain for Warmaster. This used to be a pleasant experience. No pressure. Enthusiastic interest in the hobby. Fraternal sympathy over changing prices and ever changing editions. Hell, two weeks ago guy at the cafe bar didn't even know they had a hidden menu. That's a minor point, granted, but between the hard sell, pushing a game the employee clearly knew nothing about (Horus Heresy 3.0, it's going to be great, everybody says that! But cannot identity most of the HH kits we asked after), and the feeling that towing the company line was being painfully, strictly, enforced, it was simply depressing. I'm willing to pay the money. Stop treating me like I'm a boomer looking for typewriter ribbon at a Best Buy. I've been playing these games for decades. Every so often I remember what I dislike about them, about the publisher, about the community. It's unfortunate that the feeling always comes back most strongly when I've spent time at a GW facility. Think I need to spend some time apart from the hobby again. read more

This place is just too cool! My fiancé is a huge Warhammer fan and my family and I were on our way to Disney and decided to make a surprise stop. I had researched for Warhammer stores near Disney and found this one. I was immediately excited upon seeing that there was a HUGE space marine to greet you. When we pulled up, he at first thought it might be a smaller store and then saw the space marine and was so excited. While we were all just his posse, we followed him around as he looked at all of the different things that the store has to offer. The selection here is incredible and the staff is awesome at answering questions. Not to mention, they are also a cafe! My family and I decided to try their different drinks and were impressed. My husband is a longtime Warhammer enthusiast and was excited to tell me that there was a Games Workshop store that was also a cafe (to appease both our passions lol), so we made the trek up to Monrovia to check them out. The store was super immersive, with life-sized statues (and stuffies), display cases filled with interesting treasures and memorabilia, and tons of wall art. There were lots of customers for a Wednesday afternoon (though it might have been timing due to holiday break), and a positive vibe in the store. The front seemed to be mostly retail, with the cafe in the middle, and gaming tables in the back. There was plenty of seating indoors (as well as a couple of tables out front). My husband and teenager enjoyed exploring the store. The coffee was basic but good. The entire menu was thematic, including the pastries (I really wanted to order a Chaos Cookie simply because it was called a Chaos Cookie). We got: Black Templar (Black and White Mocha), Iced - Espresso with both kinds of Ghirardelli chocolate syrups, with milk over ice. Sweet and rich, it hit the spot as a caffeinated treat. Mango Titan Sunfury - Mango juice with a reddish tea layered on top. It was super refreshing. Prosperos Peach Tea - "It was good." - my teenager Really good experience here and would recommend checking out this store if Warhammer is on your radar. read more

Went a couple days ago to just check out the store and Adrian was very helpful and showed me the entirety of the store exploring different factions etc because I'm new to the hobby. Super amazing customer service and I had the opportunity to paint my own space marine and he explained to me the painting process and walked me through everything. This is a amazing store with nice staff and community. There is many kits. Tye staffed help my son and help him start his warhammer 40k army. Also the staff gave people a free space marine if they were new to Warhammer and helped him build and paint his first space marine. The staff member set up a demo battle and taught how to play and answer his answers. 10/10 staff and 10/10 miniatures (but the miniatures are really expensive). read more

Luke was such an awesome person at this place! He gave us an introductory to painting models and we learned so much about a game we only have heard of, but never played. The place is a big community of warhammer players and has tons of displays and everything you need for this game/hobby. We marveled at how amazing each model was and how strategically cool this game was. Originally we came in to buy models for our gaming purposes, and felt we got absorbed into another world of gaming. They also had a cafe with lots of neat drinks. We got to paint a model for free as an introductory. They also will teach you how to play the game throughly. The Space Marines have landed in Old Town Monrovia!! Had a blast exploring all the universes, game boards, characters, art, and lore inside this awesome Warhammer store - all while sipping on my dwardin-sized, iced Magnus Macchiato of course lol! I'm definitely no expert on the vast world of Warhammer lore - far, far from it - but I can tell that this store has a dizzying collection of everything from paints to figures to arenas and more! They even have a whole wall full of books on all the different "factions" and worlds - and even a bunch of LOTR pieces and books and other things too! My son is an avid collector and player and he absolutely LOVED the store! And not only are all the staff super enthusiastic and helpful, they offer FREE painting and game-play lessons too!! The shop and cafe was packed on the Sunday we visited - but the shop is deceptively huge so you have plenty of elbow room. In the very back, just past the café area, there are numerous tables set up for game play! Endless fun here! The café offers hot/cold drinks with fan-favorite names from the Warhammer worlds - as well as chaos cookies and other pastries. With names like Fyreslayer Chai Latte and Agrax Americano, how can you resist? They even make ordering the sizes fun - smalls are "dwardin", medium is "manling", and large is "gargant" haha! We tried a Magnus Macchiato and a Changeling lemonade. The Magnus Macchiato was mild and creamy. The Changeling was my fave - not only was it a vibrant rainbow in a cup, but a refreshing reprieve from the hot afternoon! The Changeling is a blue raspberry lemonade drink and it's lovely! The location couldn't be better - right in the thick of lovely Old Town Monrovia! Parking is street parking or in one of Old Town's public lots. And it's surrounded by tons of great eats and treats. Definitely worth stopping by when walking around here - whether you're a huge fan of the Warhammer universe, just getting started, or even just curious! No doubt we'll be back! read more

I have not seen customer service to this level in a very long time. If you are debating going to this store, visit it. Below is a bit about why I am leaving this review, but in advance I'd like to shoutout Cole and Stephen. A friend and I decided to explore the warhammer table top game after the release of Space Marine 2 (computer game). We both love table top games and were enamored with the lore we discovered in Space Marine 2. We decided to buy a starter set and a combat patrol. Unfortunately for me, my box set was not complete. Upon opening the box the next day, we discovered this and had to drive back to the store, anxious about the response and willingness to make me whole. I was immediately greeted by Stephen with understanding and apologies. While he reviewed the starter set I brought back, Cole began to discuss several options Games Workshop could make me whole. I honestly felt these 2 gentlemen were legitimately passionate about 2 things: Warhammer and correcting the issue. Not only did they take care of me, they did it in a way that earned lifelong trust with both me and my friend. Needless to say, this is the ONLY store we will give our business moving forward. Had a chance to visit this awesome shop when my wife and I were visiting family during the Christmas holiday. Absolutely loved this place! The staff were great, the setup was awesome, and the drinks were refreshing! My nephew loved the place, which was most important! My family loves to come to the Warhammer café for all the fun figurines that were able to look at because we are such big nerds. One of the features of the Warhammer Store Cafe is the fact that they offer free classes for painting the figurines and they're super helpful when it comes to showing you folks the really interesting world of the Warhammer. Most of my friends think that it's really silly to go to a store like this but I feel like most of them don't really understand how much fun you can drive out of these games it's more than just painting little figurines and learning maps it's also a community of people who just really enjoy playing games. The fun part about the café is that they have really funny names for the sizes of coffee like instead of a tall coffee or a small coffee they call it Dwarfin and I think that's really funny. They also have Chaos cookies! So if you happen to be walking around old town MONROVIA you should really stop by and check out the Warhammer store and Café. Drove 5 hours with my family (5 of us all adults) specifically to go here. Was not greeted even though there were 3 employees and only 2 other customers. Stood at the cafe counter for 10-15 min and was never asked if we wanted a drink, the employees walked past us totally ignoring us. We were very sad. It's not really all that themed inside to be worth a trek other than the giant space marine in the door (which is super cool). We kept having to track down people to ask for help, and even then they were not friendly or asked if they could help with anything else, did not ask if we had tried the cafe. Dropped a few thousand dollars and still no customer service. There was another customer who kept trying to engage with them (he had driven 2 hours) and they were just brushing him off too. We were pumped for a year for this and were utterly let down. The only reason to go is they have a selection of Forge World exclusives and you don't have to pay shipping. read more

My brother-in-law is a huge Warhammer fan and he had the best day visiting this destination store & cafe when he was visiting LA!

So impressed with this store and staff. First off, every single staff member, knows their stuff. No question is too crazy. The place is breathable, meaning you are not claustrophobic when you enter this place. Nice tall ceilings and a big coffee bar to satisfy what I imagine would be long sessions playing, painting, or building. The displays are filled with incredible models that have been painted by the staff. I noticed them painting terrain today for an upcoming tournament. There's a place to get started where they can teach you how to build models, or paint them for free. I took my son and while Ethan was showing me the finer points of brush loading, edge highlighting and Space marine lenses, my son was painting his "demonic overlord" (stormcast). On a separate occasion, I came with my cousin and friend to build and paint our models, and Oscar was fantastic in helping me paint my first head. They even offered us a lighting lamp when we wanted to work on finer details. If you're new, ask about Battle Honours, and their free model of the month. Such a great place. Visited this location while catching a concert at the Coliseum in LA this weekend. This place is great! Everyone was very kind and accommodating to my wife and I while visiting from AZ. Store was super clean and very well organized with a ton of items to choose from. The cafe looked awesome, but we'll have to try that out on the next visit. None of the staff hovered over us, but were very attentive and came up to answer any questions that we had while helping other folks. We picked up a few things we hadn't been able to find at our local stores and even marked a few things to grab the next time we're out that way. Overall, this place is fantastic. Staff is great, selection is great. Highly recommend a visit for anyone that has some free time and is into the hobby. We will definitely visit again! read more

They help you paint your first mini and explain everything. A must visit if you are a fan of Warhammer or any other Games Workshop tabletop games!!! Awesome decor/displays and a huge selection of models, paints, books and anything else hobby related that you would need. The store has a great relaxed vibe to it. The staff is very friendly and happy to let you look around and stay as long as you'd like, doesn't feel like you are constantly being rushed to buy things like some other stores. They love answering questions but will also let you be if you're just browsing. Shoutout to Cole who was very friendly and easy to talk to, who definitely convinced me to get some Blood Bowl boxes in the future haha! It is clear everyone who works here is very passionate and are happy to help you with whatever you need. I didn't get a chance to get the other employees name but I couldn't find the Primaris Sword Brethren that I wanted and he kindly offered to check downstairs for me. Unfortunately they were completely out of stock but he recommended that I check out a nearby smaller game store called Dark Side Games, saying that they have a small Warhammer selection and that they might have it. I swung by after and found my sword brethren there! Wouldn't have known about that other store if not for him. Big props to him for recommending another competitor instead of only trying to make me order from them. Just go shows how much they love helping costumers and want people to support other local game stores. Finally, Old Town Monrovia is a beautiful and quiet area. There is a lovely park right next to it and plenty of shopping and good eating on that main street.
