Adding on, her word choices were insulting to me. "Is it your first time shopping at this store?" With a concerned look on her face??? While still looking at us up and down AGAIN! And she kept trailing us, without asking if we wanted anything or needed help... I did not want to buy anything from there because of her so we left. After a quick lunch at Don Quixote, she wanted to go shopping so we headed to AMC and headed to Ross Dress For Less to take advantage of 10% off senior discount on Tuesdays. After shopping at Ross, we had time to kill to meet her nephew and decided to move on over to neighboring Old Navy (ON). ON has been around for quite some time. How long do you ask? They started in 1994 by parent company Gap Inc. and has grown to over 1100 stores worldwide. ON's window fall display drew my friend in as there these suede boots was a fall coat that really appealed to her. We made our way in and our lucky stars lined up as the boots were in her size and had the color she wanted and had the coat in her size of extra small. She tried the coat on and just loved it. However, there were 2 things that concerned her: the weak Japanese yen against the US dollar and that many people had probably touched that coat and wanted a new one. Sadly, after going through store inventory, it was revealed that was the last extra small on hand. She asked if they would drop the price where the associate declined but instead offered to have her open a credit card for an automatic discount. My friend now declares her residence full time in Japan and the thought of billing discouraged the purchase. She instead just bought some suede boots and festive fall accessories, and then headed to the checkout line. It was disappointing that there were only 2 associates behind the counter. Those associates were assisting customers checking out where they had a lot of items. The associates engaged with the customers as we witnessed laughing here and there. Time ticked and then next thing we noticed the line grew 10+ customers now waiting to check out. We were in line for about 15min waiting until finally a 3rd associate came down to assist with checkout. Our turn arrived where we paid for our purchase and walked out. Mixed feelings on my recent visit where customer service should have been better. It wasn't meant for my friend to get the coat. I've shopped at ON multiple times previously and have also received gifts purchased here. Prices are affordable and of good quality which makes me return to ON. 2025 #65

I was glad to be proven wrong this visit with such a nice wide selection of shoes from various brands and great help from sales staff. I found two pairs of heavily discounted name brand shoes that are trail shoes that Iʻll be able to use for extensive walking around, that should work even when the weather gets wet! Big props to sales associate Edward who was patient with me and my family as we were shopping, bringing out several pairs of shoes and making some smart recommendations. She told me how she really liked the durable, washable, lightweight, and colorful fabric. She's a smart shopper, so, I trusted her. However, at the time, I was a poor college student. Later in life, I learned about how this successful company started: From humble beginnings, two friends noticed how luggage - back in the day - was so drab and boring. They decided to market their unique products through college students... (there was no internet yet) and the rest is history! On the Island of O'ahu, there's a Vera Bradley shop in Waipahu at Waikele Premium Outlet. They won't have the latest prints such as this new collaboration with Hello Kitty. They do have discounted prices on older prints and styles. That's why I had to go to the Flagship Store in Waikiki. Located on the ground level of the International Marketplace - closer to the Kuhio Avenue side - Vera Bradley currently has Hello Kitty products in the display windows! I waited outside of the store until it opened at 11am. Luckily, it was a holiday (King Kamehameha Day) and I parked on the street for free. (I didn't want the stress of only getting two hours free with a $10 purchase at International Marketplace. I hadn't planned on going shopping. I was across the street at breakfast when I remembered that my friend, Angel, showed me photos of the new Hello Kitty items... Uhg!) I couldn't decide on what to get. I overheard the salespeople mentioning that it's "sold out online" and that they're getting calls from the mainland because they're the only store that still has Hello Kitty merchandise... Oh, the pressure! I looked at the blankets, towels, pillows, backpacks, notebooks, luggage tags, cosmetic bags, socks, flip flops, scrunchies, tumblers, bathrobes, sleepwear, etc. I figured that even if I could buy online, I would be saving money by not having to pay for shipping... So - I should get something now - while I'm there... I finally decided on a wristlet that can hold credit cards, coins, money, and cell phone! Taking my wristlet to the friendly cashier, she entered my information into the system and gave me a new "fresh" wristlet in a plastic bag from the drawer below! Yay! It's a "clean" one! I'm quite happy with my purchase! However... I looked online at home and saw that the Hello Kitty x Vera Bradley items are NOT sold out. I was disappointed to discover that this Limited Edition was released on June 1, 2023. How can they be sold out in just twelve days? Oh, well... We learn something new daily... I didn't want to buy online anyway...

I felt terrible for having let my nephew into that environment. I'm surprised playing music like that in a public space, like a mall, is allowed. Zumiez is the place that I've shopped for my godson as this was his vibe for as long as I've known and can see why as it's filled with so much fun and creatively unique items from heat to toes. Located on level 3 in Ala Moana Center walking in there is so much going on and am quite impressed how the staff keeps it all so neat and organized yet keeps that fun vibes and as I search for the particular item the staff is very helpful as this clueless aunty gets lost and feeling quite old lol! Stickers filled the ceiling of the cash wrap area and backpacks with Rugrats isn't quite his thing but do usually find shirts and hats sometimes in the clearance area that makes shopping for the value for youth easier in this place filled with items they love.
