Located on the second floor of Ala Moana, shopping center. Local motion has been one of the local store on the island for many years. They have lot of T-shirts, surf shorts and they also carry other name brands too. T-shirt usually cost about $23 or so, pretty good price. I brought a very traditional T-shirt with their logo on it. If you come to visit Hawaii, you should go get one Local motion shirt and bring home. Go check it out.

Local Motion is located on the third level of the Ewa Wing at Ala Moana Center. I stepped foot into the clothing store a couple of times already. The advertisement of buy one get second one 50% off captured my attention. Each time I stepped foot into the store the employees would greet me right away. During my first visit I walked around the store until I reached the men's section and I found a rack with sweaters. Some of the sweaters were hoodies while other sweaters had the zipper in front. I ended up grabbing two sweaters with the zipper in front. I paid for my items using my credit card. On my most recent visit to Local Motion was on Mother's Day 2019. My mom and I walked into the store and started to browse around. My mom mentioned to me that she wanted tank tops. We looked at the women's tank tops and we found couple of them. I grabbed two XL tank tops for my mom. We then went to the men's section and I found two tank tops that I liked. Two of the items were regular priced while the other two items were 50% off. I paid for the four tank tops and gave Mom her items while I kept the other two. Mom was happy with her Mother's Day gift.

On a hunt for some sustainable swimming shorts? These ones are made from up-cycled coconut "waste" and plastic bottles to create perfect performance shorts - fast-drying and odor-resistant! Good design, have a pocket on one side with Velcro and a string to attach keys etc. Tested by my husband - very good quality!

Pretty cool shop. Typically Surf / Skate clothing offered. A little bit more of trendier end of clothing as a opposed to places. They have some great brand and they also produce their own clothing and accessories. I just got this cool 20 L dry bag backpack for $28. I've been to marine store and saw basically the same for as much $60 in the past, without any backpack straps. They had lots of different sizes and very useful in Hawaii where there's a lot of exposure to the elements. I usually browse the shirts and board shorts here Own a shirt or two. They make their own Aloha shirts too. It's nice to have lots of local shops doing their own thing in the area. I need to stop in more often they have some cool products.

Soft opening for the new Local Motion in Ala Moana, and I must say, I'm really impressed. Located in the old Diesel spot that was next to their old location, Local Motion has always been one of my favorite places to shop, and they really stepped up their shopping experience. A lot of their clothes are efficiently and tastefully displayed making sure you know the product youre buying. They have a pretty sick mural in their board room, which they expanded. And, I've been told that the mural will change every so often which is pretty awesome. Their merchandise is always on point, and they have a good selection of both surf and lifestyle. Definitely a must shop for surf gear.

I was put in an odd spot. Surely not in my comfort zone…read more You see, a friend from Japan came to Hawaii and when asked what he wanted to do, surfing came up. As a local boy born and raised in Oahu, I'm embarrassed by the fact that I cannot swim. Surfing clearly out of the picture. I used to work in the Japanese tour agency many blue moons ago where I recall a surfing school that offers surfing lessons. My friend already knows how to surf so I didn't think this was for him so I asked one of my physical therapists who surfs regularly. He introduced me to a surfing school that's at Ala Moana Beach where I was given their website, which is also available in Japanese. I forwarded the information to my friend prior to his arrival to Honolulu where he didn't jump at it and said he'd think about it. On his arrival I drove him to his hotel on Kalakaua Ave and upon check in we saw a rack of surfboards nearby where I asked if they were rentals. The staff advised the boards belong to the in-house guests who were keeping them as storage while not in use. When asked about rentals, the front desk staff advised us to inquire with Moku Hawaii (MH) as their rates are 1/2 to what the businesses are asking for across the street on the beach. MH has been in business since 1985 where they hail from Japan. They started off as a clothing company but transitioned over to a surf shop offering surf lesson and rental business. We walked over and soon found MH, which is on the 1F at the corner of Koa Ave and Uluniu Ave. We were greeted by a friendly, young female staff who welcomed us and answered our multiple questions. With its locality, reasonable rates and customer service, my friend liked MH and decided to look no further. While checking out their inventory, my friend noticed hard boards and was hoping for soft boards. The staff guided us to those soft boards where it's available in either long or short. You will need to complete their rental form which to our surprise is quite flexible. For example, you can initially request for a 2 hr package but in the event you go overcast, you just pay the difference of $5, which is the price difference between 2 hr course and the next course of up to 4 hrs. MH gives back to the community as they sponsor multiple local keiki surf contests. That's so awesome. So, if you should be in a bind where someone asks you for a surf school in Waikiki, look no further and guide them to MH. We were surprisingly impressed with their surf shop and their amazing customer service. They open from 6am and close at 8pm

Things are still shut down, but Koa board Sports will let you do in-store shopping. All you have to do is call the number, and within a few minutes they will open the shop for you. I needed to buy a new fin for my longboard, and they have an excellent assortment of used fins at reasonable prices. Picked up a used 10 inch fin for $40 and it was just what I needed for my 9' 9" longboard! They also have a good selection of newer fins from different manufacturers, but the used fin was exactly what I wanted, so no need buy new. I came by another time and picked up a leash, and another time they opened up so that I could look through their rash guards. So yes, a little humbug to have to call the number and wait a couple of minutes for them to come down and open the shop, but they are still making themselves available to their customers. Parking is easy, just park right in front of the shop. You won't find a better selection in the Waikiki area.

Both times were busy with at least ten of us packed in the small store. I saw mostly Japanese tourists during the first time there and mistakenly assumed this store primarily appealed to the Japanese clientele, but the second time I'd visited had Haole and local customers besides Japanese, which proved me wrong. Snoopy is universal, for sure. I did notice that an employee who spoke fluent Japanese was present during both times I had visited. I visited the store twice because there were too many customers blocking my view of the area of the store that had their tees during the first time that I had went and I just couldn't take a good look at the assortment on my limited time there. I took a couple photos of all of their tees and later looked at them on my phone to decide which one to look for during my second visit. Besides short sleeve tees, they mostly had tote bags. Other than those items, the remainder consisted of one style of slippers, minimal selection of long sleeve tops, and then some accessories such as keychains, stickers, magnets, pens, pancake mix and some stuffed Snoopy's. It's not going to be a wide assortment beyond that. I've been to the Snoopy store in Yokohama, Japan, a few months back and although I admit that comparing the two stores is like night and day in terms of size and selection, and not at all a fair comparison - however, primarily because I happened to go there first, I was ultimately underwhelmed at this store as it was significantly tiny, cramped and not too many items to choose from. Had I not gone to the Snoopy store in Japan, first, then I'm sure this Snoopy's Surf Shop in HI would have elicited more excitement. The only other Snoopy store besides this that I'd been to for stores located in the U.S. is the Snoopy's Galleria & Gift Shop in Santa Rosa, CA, next to the Charles M. Schulz Museum, back in 2016 (definitely worth checking out if you are a lover of Snoopy and Peanuts). It'd be awesome if the Campbell Ave location could move to a bigger location nearby in Honolulu, eventually, and carry more items - though I can understand that at the same time, maybe they just want to keep things small and limited. I haven't been to their Hale'iwa location on Kam Hwy, but from photos, the location there appears a bit more spacious than the Campbell Ave one. The employees during both times that I had stopped by were nice and helpful and answered the questions that I had. I purchased a couple of tees during my two times there. They were about $29-$35 each, so not on the cheap end, but I can see and feel that they are good quality, in terms of the cotton used. I originally purchased my first tee from their online store, earlier this year and wear it quite often and that one washes well. Their online selection of tees is completely different than what you can find in their retail stores and even more limited of a selection - they definitely have a much better selection at their retail stores. Although this store doesn't have a large assortment of items, I was still happy to go out of my way to check the place out and I'd 100% recommend it to any Snoopy and Peanuts fans out there during your time in HI.

Since this one is closer to the largest tourist area I really thought it would be bigger and have even more amazing designs, however it was so small and with the amount of people shopping at the store it was a little hard to shop around. I had already seen many of the items they had in store at the other location so I didn't spend too much time there. It's definitely worth checking out if you love Snoopy!
