Super convenient surfboard rental for my visit to Waikiki. I opted to do a week long rental (5-7 days) for $150. They have a variety of long and shortboards to choose from, with the option to switch out boards during your rental period. You can either store surfboards there at the shop, or take them back to your hotel, which I did. I borrowed a 9' torq board, and they gave me the option to take wheels along with me to help move the board from place to place. This was SUPER helpful and I'd really recommend it. They also gave us a bar of wax to use during the week! There was one incident where I surfed too close to a shallow reef and my fin came loose, I brought it back to the shop and they were able to fix it promptly.  Staff were also really knowledgeable about the surf spots in Waikiki and gave us tips on where to go based on our skill level. Rented a paddle board for my mom and I to use on Hiltons duke lagoon and it was so easy! Pleasant experience renting and is a great price $45 for the whole day. Also open later (8pm) than most places by the beach which close around 4 pm. They require a card on hold and can hold your belongings for you while you are on the water. Since not right on the beach does require about a 10 minute walk to the water but they provide you with wheels for the board and make it super easy. read more

This place does live up to the hype! Excellent customer service, was in the market for a Walden Magic mode LB. They assisted me with 100% satisfaction and this was just the initial phone call! They explained exactly what they had in stock, allowed me to put a down payment for the board over the phone and held for me until I could come down to pick it up. I cannot recommend the quality surf/ big skate guys enough. Over the past week I have been trying to troubleshoot what is wrong with my longboard, I had suspected it was the disintegrated pivot cups. My uncle suggested hitting up big skate shop in town in the wailana building. Off I went and I've been incredibly happy with the results. Joey and Tim helped me on separate days and were so patient with me. Joey spent over 40 minutes explaining the type of trucks my board needed, helped me look up the parts and tried to replace the pivot cups. I ended up ordering a different set, getting the hardware and multi tool from Big Skate. If you need skate gear and knowledgeable good dudes, this is the place to stop by. Best experience, we only stayed in Waikiki for two days and we wanted to spend our last day snorkeling, we only spent $10 for gear all day and got our mask, snorkel, fins, and defogger in less than 5 minutes, service was great and would 1000% recommend. Quality Surfboards was recommended to us by our server at a restaurant / bar and I'm glad he did! On our last Hawaii trip, we rented boards for $20 an hour, but Quality Surfboards charges $20 a day! You can keep the board for however long you want and pay when you return it. You can also come back in and switch out for a different board! We had a tiny rental car with no roof rack, so we were provided with a car rack at no extra charge! Wax and leashes were also provided. The staff were such cool, nice people! I wish I got their names. They answered questions, chatted with us and we never felt like we were a bother or felt rushed. There was a good selection of boards to choose from! They even brought out a foam board from the back for me! This is also a small shop with towels, shirts, stickers, etc. Parking is in an underground lot. You might get lucky with the attendant who will let you just park and run in quickly! My husband and I rented from Quality Surfboards during our most recent trip to Oahu. They had everything we were looking to rent at a very reasonable and fair price per day. The staff was super friendly, very patient with our questions, and made the process from renting to transporting the boards very easy for us as out-of-towners. The staff we interacted with were super professional, knowledgable about their products and the local beaches, and really helped to make this part of our trip stress-free and memorable. Each time we came in, they seemed to always be busy with customers, which makes total sense based on our firsthand experience with their business. Parking was a little bit of a challenge, though there is a paid parking garage on the floor below the shop that is shared among the other businesses and (what I believe to be) the adjacent apartment complex. Even with the minor parking garage fee, it is still financially (and reliably) worth renting from Quality Surfboards. We were on the fence of bringing our own boards with us from California, but without the extra hassle with traveling, we will rent from Quality Surfboards on all of our future trips out to the island. 5-stars all around! read more

Love this place for helping to make surfing approachable to the masses. No Waikiki stay is complete without surfing and on previous trips, I would try to frequent any of the small, independent vendors renting boards at various spots on the beach. Fast forward to now and I arrive to find out that all of those mom and pop vendors have been booted off the beach and only a single company seems to monopolize all of the rentals. I'm sure this was done with the City's financial interests in mind since their rates are expensive ($20/hr!) At those rates, if you are here for a week, it is cheaper to buy a board and give it away to someone at the end of your trip! Enter Quality Surfboards to the rescue. Yes, it is away from the beach so there is a little effort on your part required but drive to the location, park in the underground ramp (they will validate your ticket for 30 min of free parking), pay $20/day and walk out with a good board, leash and carry hook. No payment needed until you return it. It is that simple. The people working there are friendly, helpful and genuine. The pricing is certainly right. They have the real Aloha spirit in helping people out to discover or participate in the fun of surfing. Where the city really cheapened the vendor experience on the Waikiki beach, this place ran with it and really delivers a good experience at a fair price. I gladly write this review in hopes of sending business to them. Surfing should be an approachable experience and this place makes it just that. read more

My family and I spent a week out in Hawaii. The day before we left we decided to take surfing lessons! Our Instructor and his helpers were AMAZING! We had a big group of 7 people. Ages ranging from 12-53. After some step by step lessons during the first 30 minutes we all paddled out into the ocean and every single one of us were able to stand up and catch a wave! While looking for surfboard rentals during my week stay in Honolulu, Quality Surfboards did not disappoint! The staff is super helpful, nice, and this spot will definitely be the cheapest prices for quality gear. Also, I really liked the option to hold on to the surfboard throughout my entire stay and bring it back when I was done. You can also come back to the shop, leave your board, and pick it up the next day since many condos/hotels charge for surfboard/SUP storage. Parking: There is an underground parking garage with a 6'3" max roof height. An attendant will guide you where to park and hand you a ticket. Make sure to validate it for free parking. Prices: $20/day for a surfboard. Upon request, straps, wax, and wheels to transport bigger boards around (like a caddy) are available (idk what the extra cost of that would be) Hours: 8am-8pm you can pick up/drop off anytime between then. I definitely recommend this place when renting gear! The beaches will charge you an average of $20-$25/hr for surfboards. The next time I come back to Waikiki area, I'll be a returning customer! What a great place to rent surfboards!!! I was on the island for a couple days and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to fly my boards over. So I found this awesome place on Yelp and everything about this place and the whole experience was great!! I landed and immediately drove to this shop to get a board. Parked temporary in the underground garage and the parking attendant was nice enough to not charge me. There are no street parking in the area. The shop had a huge selection of boards to choose from, some really nice high end boards like FireWire and Al Merricks. I got a very nice thick 6'0 because I was being lazy and didn't want to paddle very hard. That board was great. The nice guy working that day gave me a ton of information on all the surf spots that we're going off that day and subsequent days. Super helpful. I had the board for 2 days and it performed very well. I surfed several spots around the south side of the island and had a ton of fun! Easy no frills, great service! read more
