Communicated via text to obtain our shoe sizes so that they had all our great ready for pick up. Gave us advice on reservations and timing for Hanauma Bay. Even offered suggestions for other snorkeling locations if Hanauma Bay was full for the day. Snorkel package comes with: - snorkel mask - flippers - life vest or float belt No issues with the equipment. We had a phenomenal day. Was pleased with the service. Looks like there were some rental options at the bay but I didn't check the prices and wouldn't want to risk them running out before we got there. QUICK ADVICE: For snorkeling in Hanauma Bay YOU NEED A RESERVATION for a parking lot at the beach. You will also need to purchase tickets to get onto the bay, which is currently $25 per person. Walk-ins without a car seems to be alright, but might be limited. Reservations are online and seem to be on a two-day basis, as in you will get a reservation date within two days. This was very confusing and inconvenient for me. I did not know about the beach reservation, so when I got to Hanauma bay, we were turned away at the entrance for not having a reservation. Fortunately, the lady at Koko Beach Rentals came to the rescue. I had the Go Oahu pass and booked a reservation for the snorkeling gear at this place, which is about 5 min away by car to the bay. She told us the procedure of the rental returns, which for us was until closing at 3 pm. But then she asked us if we had a reservation to the bay, which we didn't know about. At this point, we figured out that we needed a reservation for Hanauma Bay, but since it was on a two-day basis, all of the slots for that day were taken. Luckily, the lady at Koko called someone from the bay and got us in without an online reservation. We still had to pay the $25 pp fee, but we weren't turned away like most of the cars at the gate. If she didn't pull these strings for us, we would've lost time, money, and the opportunity to go snorkeling. When we got to Hanauma Bay, there were PLENTY of parking spaces left. The beach was just as beautiful as it was on the internet and the fish enchanting. They also have some stores above the bay. The Koko rentals worked great and were clean. But if it wasn't for her help, we wouldn't have had the opportunity of a lifetime and gone snorkeling on one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been on. read more

Koko Beach Rentals was the perfect place to pick up gear for our snorkeling adventure at Hanauma Bay. It was right along the way so it was perfect for pick up and drop off. They had everything we needed to have a great time including snorkel, mask, vest and flippers. Minyoung did an amazing job giving us all the insider info and even helped us with getting in. We knew that we had to pay for parking and entrance, but we had no idea we had to make a reservation separately. She instructed us on what to do to still get in and have a great time. We would not have been able to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary if it were not for her. She gave us a lot of information on how to enjoy our snorkeling and even let us know what places to check out on the island. All our gear was in good condition and was perfect for our day out. I paid $110 for 2 people thinking that the shuttle, equipment and tickets would be a great deal. That's what I thought... HOWEVER, the gear is absolute garbage. I'm assuming they don't even wash their equipment, which I have later learned that people get mouth sores and strep throat from their gear. ALSO, the "package deal" doesn't even come with tickets for admission. So, you're going to have to wait another hour + to even get into the bay. I cannot express how much you should avoid this place. They charged $110 for 5 minute drive. How absurd is that??! Please, for your sanity and your bank account, just go to the bay, pay the $25 and do NOT go to Koko Beach rentals. I'm assuming the other reviews by the "yelp elites" ( which I've been offered btw) are just people who know the workers. TLDR: Workers at Hanauma bay say it's a scam, buy gear at Hanauma bay NOT Koko beach, and stay away from this place. You'll get sick if you use their gear. If you are going to Hanauma bay, DO NOT rent equipment from here- it's cheaper to rent in the park!!! The store sold us on the fact that they would be cheaper than renting in Hanauma Bay; however they weren't. This was a small shop close to Hanauma Bay, making it a perfect spot to get rentals from! The owners were very friendly and efficient with gearing us up for our adventure, but maybe a little too efficient. I would advise really feeling out the equipment and make sure everything fits before you say it's good. My partner didn't like his flippers too much and his goggles didn't fit so well. My snorkel also seemed a bit wonky, but maybe I'm just no good at snorkeling... They told us Hanauma Bay closed at 3, so we should be back by then--we later found out that Hanauma closed at 4, so we gave them a call and they were fine with us coming back at 3:30. All in all, it was a seamless experience to rent and return the equipment. As I said before, just make sure you take your time and check the fit for anything you decide to rent. read more

This place was kinda difficult to find since it's a big plaza. So to make it easier it's right around the corner from Starbucks if you see Starbucks keep going to the back parking lot. But other than finding this place it was such a good experience! They were on it as soon as we walked in! The lady that helped us taught us how to put on and how everything works for snorkeling. The prices here were decent too ! And right around the corner from Haunama bay which is where we were headed. If going that way I would definitely stop here to rent out gear if ya need it. This is a small equipment rental place in a strip mall near Hanauma Bay-which is perfect if you need snorkeling gear for the day. We had made reservations through the Go Oahu card ahead of time and they had everything ready for us when we arrived for our reservation. They even had a shuttle available, for a fee, to take us and pick us up (which I highly recommend, since parking at the bay can be impossible.) The lady who provided our equipment gave us a brief tutorial and ensured that all our masks fit and were air tight. We left a driver license to secure the equipment and got it back later when we returned everything. They offer upgraded items, which we did not purchase. But if we were more experienced, or wanted to spend more time snorkeling, it would be nice to have those options available to us. There is plenty of onsite parking too. read more

With the reduced number of tourists in HI, we elected to go snorkeling this trip. It was even better this location is part of the Oahu GO Pass! The employees were very friendly and got all 8 of us in and out in minimal time with equipment that fit correctly and gave our inexperienced kids pointers. We picked up the equipment mid-day and would not be able to make Hanauma Bay in time, so they allowed us to keep the equipment overnight and return it the next day before closing and there would be no penalty. That is awesome! The equipment was good enough to get the job done and had additional accessories available such as the banana strap and vests for the kids at very low prices. Returning the equipment was about as easy as it can get! Location is just around the corner from the Walgreens in the shopping center with easy parking. We recommend to others! read more

I was very disappointed in the quality of the rental gear here, as well as the customer service. Our initial interaction was relatively pleasant, but it quickly went downhill. My party of five and I arrived to get our beach rentals to go snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. We were provided with snorkel masks and flippers. Everything else was considered an upgrade and would cost extra, which was fine for us in the moment. We opted to upgrade our snorkels with a water stopper, which would allow us to dive down into the ocean without water coming through the air hole. We rented life jackets as well. One thing I didn't appreciate was that they didn't put the baby shampoo mixture in our snorkel masks. Luckily, I thought about it before we left and we were able to get the mixture in them. Had we not have asked, our snorkel masks would have been foggy the entire time. Once we were situated at Hanauma Bay, we were so excited to get in the ocean and look at all the fish. I put my snorkel mask on and I couldn't breath into the mouthpiece. I could breathe out, but not in. I received a defective water stopper and had to remove it in order to breathe in and out. This was frustrating since that meant I wouldn't be able to dive into the ocean without a bunch of water seeping into the air hole. I could only stay at the surface. I tried to not let this ruin my day though but shortly after, all of my friends were having difficulty with their rental gear. The flippers were also incredibly uncomfortable and hurt our feet. My friends spent less than 30 minutes in the water before it was time to return the rental gear. We had 3+ hours there, but the rental gear was just too hard to work with. When we returned the rental gear, we informed them that my water stopper was defective and I couldn't use it at all. They took it apart, hit it against their desk, and sand fell out of it. They ultimately blamed me for getting sand in it, which made no sense to me since I didn't put it in the sand and I didn't take it into the ocean. If anything, they failed to clean out the water stopper before giving it to their next customer. Horrible customer service. I do not recommend and will not return. read more

They showed us how they sanitized them beforehand for some extra precaution(even tho they cleaned it before) and got some boogie boards to go to Waimanalo Beach. This place was a huge fail, but the service was relatively quick and convenient for us since it was 5 minutes from Hanauma Bay and 5 minutes from our hotel. Be aware, there is a charge for "upgrades" that usually come standard with snorkeling gear. Why the 1 star? Well, let's start with the cheap snorkel gear. First, it took half our group about an hour just to fit the mask and snorkel gear on. One of my boys mouthpiece fell out without his knowledge before he even got in the water. Also, we paid for the upgraded snorkel to include a water stopper. However, when my fiance was about to use it at Hanauma Bay, the water stopper did not allow her to breathe out! What a rip off! The flippers, they were incredibly uncomfortable to the point where we all took them off in order to swim. We never fell so much wearing flippers before. Okay, does it get any worse? Aside from cutting our snorkeling time down an hour, yes it does get worse. When we returned the equipment, the customer service lady that checked us out gets the audacity to blame us for the faulty equipment. Lady...we didn't drop anything in the sand before using it. Really? She said, "we'll make note of the equipment for future customers". Uhhhhh, no refund? My fiance couldn't even use the upgraded device. All in all, we took a huge L on this. The reviews on Yelp led us to believe that this place was worth it. It was not. The only thing this place has going for it, is its convenient location to Hanauma Bay. DO NOT RECOMMEND! If you want to snorkel, get a tour from a reputable company. We did that last time and it was fantastic. Should of just did it again but we just had to experiment with this place. read more

This business is sketchy and I DO NOT recommend whatsoever. We were not able to get reservations to the snorkeling area so we were going to cancel our gear rental from his store. He told us no don't do that and that he would get us in. He was deceptive because he saw a party of 10 and wanted our money. Once we were in the van he gave us a ticket for 12:10pm and told us to hide it under our money and pretend we had an 8:30am ticket. We are not the only ones that have had this experience. The other groups that used his service were also all canceling their reservations because we were all scammed and mislead. A form of ID can be used as a deposit or your choice of $75 cash for each set of snorkel gears (fins, mask, life vest). Good thing someone else in the group had their ID. The goggles and fins are really nice quality. They even help you get fitted. The life vests were reasonably priced too. However the return time ends at 4:30pm which meant if you're at Hanauma Bay you'll have to leave by 4:15 to drop of the rentals on time. Good thing they are not too far. Overall great customer service, easy to work with, was able to get same day rentals for a big group of 6 on a last minute reservation. Special thank you to Diego who was super helpful and wonderful in helping us. He went the extra mile of loading up the goods for us and waited after hours to open the doors to accept our drop off. Do not go to this place. Floren made several Misrepresentations and is engaging in false, deceitful business practices. First, my friend found the rentals through hanaumabaysnorquel.com, which is not the name of the company. We called twice to confirm that if we got snorkel rental, that we would have absolutely no problems getting in to Hanauma Bay State Park. We called to confirm this twice. Then we purchased the rental and we were told to go to KOKO rentals location. Then given very cursory instructions to see a woman in "blue" at Hanauma State Park. They Didn't tell you that every worker is in blue there. Then, the tickets that you get are just the regular walk-in tickets that you could get through the state park, they do not have any special "hook up" to those tickets. So we didn't need to rent gear from them to get in and then they failed to advise that you will be waiting in line for hours before entry. This was an intentional misleading and deceitful omission, as they very clearly know this is the case given the fact that there are other yelp reviews that have made the same complaints. When we gave up on waiting to get in, we complained and they refused to give us any refund even though we never used their equipment. This beach equipment rental shop saved the day. I headed to Hanauma Bay for snorkeling but the shop down the bay did not rent out any life vests. I yelped and found KoKo Beach rentals nearby. The shop is located about 2 miles away or 5-10 minutes drive. The staff helping me was really nice and informative. She helped me pick out the right gear and adjusted it for me. She explained how it all worked. Since it was later in the day, she discounted the gear rental for the basic snorkeling package to 15 dollars from 20 dollars. The shop down Hanauma bay charges 20 dollars for the same package. The life vest was an extra 5 dollars though. Everything worked great and I was able to snorkel the bay. read more

We did this rental through Go Oahu card. After arriving at the store, they recommended us to upgrade equipments such as dry snorkel, life vests and under water camera, which is ok. The person also instructed us on how to use the snorkel, which's good. We rent many staff including a big umbrella with discounts cost us additional $45 for 6 people, which is reasonable. That day is windy, when we open the umbrella however, it can not stand, then we try to put the root into the sand, however it doesn't work as well. Finally we gave up and fold it back. Upon returning, we told them it's windy and cannot use the umbrella at all. The person said this usually happened and checked the umbrella, and they found the umbrella is broken and we have to pay the full amount and we can get the umbrella. What? This usually happened? We didn't use it and have to pay full amount? They told us that's no1 brand in Hawaii and used many places. And they also kept on saying it's our fault. This is a brand new one and showed us a used one to compare. So the so-called no1 brand umbrella break at the first time of use?? Seriously?! Anyway we are visitors and time is money, so we gave up debating and paid additional $30 for that. Above all, this store seems brand new? They are only on the first step of starting a business -- making money. And good paper work they have for the liability. However, no suggestions on using an umbrella on a windy day for visitors and bad attitude on resolving this without standing on customers' perspective. Not sure how many umbrella they "sold" before. This is a lesson we paid on a Thanksgiving day. Hope this review can help this store improve themselves. On March 10, 2021 my husband and I went to Koko Beach Rental & Tours looking for snorkeling equipment for our visit to Hanauma Bay. Koko Beach Rental & Tours both rents and sells snorkeling equipment but due to the COVID pandemic, we told the salesperson that we were more comfortable purchasing new equipment. We purchased two snorkeling equipment sets which included face masks, swim fins, and a breathing apparatus. When we looked into the opened mesh bag when we got to Hanauma Bay it appeared as if the equipment had been used. The face masks were dirty and there appeared to be someone else's hair on them as well. Since we were at the beach, and against our better judgement, we decided to rinse off the equipment and give it a try. We paid admission to get into Hanauma Bay and we couldn't just leave and go back to the store immediately. Sadly, the face masks leaked, and the breathing apparatuses didn't fit well. It didn't clip to the face mask properly. We could only stay in the water a few minutes because the equipment failed. We tried to return the equipment to the store the same day, but the manager of the shop refused to take them back. The snorkeling equipment wasn't wrapped, it was loose in Koko Beach Rental's open mesh rental bag, and the bag was not sealed whatsoever. I was never given a receipt. The female clerk said she could not print receipts and would send it to my phone via text via Square, but I never received one. When we contacted the owner, he contended that there is an "All Sales are final" policy but we were not made aware of it at the time of purchase. Neither I nor my husband ever observed any signage at all saying, "All sales are final." An "All sales are final" policy is a useless if the customers are not made aware of it prior to the purchase, not after the fact. Useless and illegal. I attempted to return the equipment to the owner the same day, but he refused to take it. Koko Beach Rentals sold me previously rented equipment, put it in a bag and tried to pawn it off as new. This owner scammed me out of my money claiming something was brand new when it was not. This is bad anytime but especially disturbing during COVID. It is disheartening to learn that the mouthpiece I put in my mouth, that I assumed had never been in anyone else's mouth, had been used and been in the mouths of countless others. The owner is like a dishonest used car salesman, telling you that you're buying a Mercedes when what you're really getting is a Honda. I brought the defective equipment to the owner's attention the same day I made the purchase. I brought the equipment back to him, but he refused to take it. I contacted Koko Beach Rentals every day since just to be hung up on time and again. The equipment was defective and faulty. When we tried to talk to the owner about it he refused to listen. He refused to take the merchandise back and offer a refund as he should. He was belligerent and rude. I was sold equipment that not only didn't work but was used. I was told that it was new when I bought it. The owner claims it is absurd that we were sold used equipment, but the name of his business is Koko Beach RENTALS. It is completely plausible that I was sold used equipment. I am due a full refund and will not accept anything less. To make matters worse, the owner of Koko Beach Rentals has been harassing me. He sent me an email that was completely out of bounds and filled with inaccuracies, misrepresentations and downright lies. I consider this harassment and have told the vendor to stop contacting me, but he continues to do so since I opened my bank dispute. Not only was the equipment I was sold faulty, but it was also used but advertised as new. Koko Beach Rentals is trying to pressure me into closing my dispute, but I will not do that. We tried to go to Hanauma bay twice but were disappointed that the parking lot were full on both occasions and we weren't able to get in. We found out Koko Beach rentals, located in the mall just at the foot of the hill not only rents snorkelling equipment. They also have shuttles running from the mall to Hanauma bay every 30 minutes. If you rent the equipment from them, the shuttle is free! It cost $20 to rent the mask and fins which is the same as if you were to get it from the rental place at Hanauma bay. All the staff members were friendly and helpful in explaining everything. The driver was very nice and cheery which made the short 5 minute shuttle ride that much more enjoyable. read more

They are so friendly and helpful, and literally have everything you need and then more!
