Just a class-act group of people. I've been surfing for 18 years and have done around 15 international surf trips. I usually travel with my own boards, but I've also rented from plenty of surf shops over the years. I can genuinely say that my experience with every single employee here was absolutely epic. I rented your boards for 5 days & paddled out with the owner who is a splitting image of the operation staff. - friendly, knowledgeable, trusting, flexible, adds value. I also really appreciate the way you price your rentals. $25 for a quality surfboard when many other places are charging considerably more says a lot. You Molu guys clearly care about your customers, their experience, the ocean, Oahu, and the sport of surfing. And a special thank you for how you handled my little mishap! After 18 years of surfing and thousands of waves, I somehow managed to buckle my first surfboard. I caught my best wave of 2026 thought I had kicked out cleanly, and somehow the board came out of it buckled. I felt horrible like the time I was 16 years old & crashed my moms car. But you all treated me with grace and understanding. The staff couldn't have been nicer about it. Of course, I took responsibility and paid my fair share for the damage, but I really appreciated how professionally and reasonably you handled the situation. You represent Oahu and the surfing community incredibly well. You deserve a monopoly of Hawaii surf rentals. If you're reading this review and looking for a board--whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced surfer--this is an A+ operation. Great people, great boards, fair prices, and outstanding customer service. Give these guys your business. They deserve it. Things are still shut down, but Koa board Sports will let you do in-store shopping. All you have to do is call the number, and within a few minutes they will open the shop for you. I needed to buy a new fin for my longboard, and they have an excellent assortment of used fins at reasonable prices. Picked up a used 10 inch fin for $40 and it was just what I needed for my 9' 9" longboard! They also have a good selection of newer fins from different manufacturers, but the used fin was exactly what I wanted, so no need buy new. I came by another time and picked up a leash, and another time they opened up so that I could look through their rash guards. So yes, a little humbug to have to call the number and wait a couple of minutes for them to come down and open the shop, but they are still making themselves available to their customers. Parking is easy, just park right in front of the shop. You won't find a better selection in the Waikiki area.

However, the only reason I am giving them four stars is because after visiting the one in Haleiwa, there's a huge difference in size, service and designs. Since this one is closer to the largest tourist area I really thought it would be bigger and have even more amazing designs, however it was so small and with the amount of people shopping at the store it was a little hard to shop around. I had already seen many of the items they had in store at the other location so I didn't spend too much time there. It's definitely worth checking out if you love Snoopy!

We had a long agenda for the day and number one reason, cost factor. Fortunately the tab came out to $117 that's with one item being on sale. One young man approached when we entered. We had to ask another one person to open the changing area to try on before purchasing. The cashier was a friendly attentive man.

KG may…read morehave made boards in the past that people were buying, keeping him in the biz, but currently he's a hyperbole just tryin to stay afloat. Go to his tiny rented space on Mokauea St. to see for yourself. Many 'Backyard' operations have better facilities than his which is bare-bones at that. He is a one-man operation doing everything himself which is an indication of the volume of work he's asked to do these days. He shapes mainly by eye, racing toward completion while rarely utilizing measuring tools to confirm specifications are met to the buyers' order. His glassing work is super heavy which he rationalizes is what makes his boards stronger and less vulnerable to breakage in heavy conditions. This is fine if you don't mind a classic 'tank' board. However, if you seek a performance board that's built to your specifications, go elsewhere as that's an incongruent concept to KG.

Flight boards Hawaii is operated by Keff C., it's located on Channel st., right across of Restaurant Row. It's very easy to find. It is better to call Keff first to make an appointment especially if you're going on the weekend as the building is secured. I heard about this place by word of mouth, then checked out their website. When I called and spoke with Keff he was super cool, polite, easy to talk to and easy to schedule an appointment with. I had in mind which longboard I was leaning to. When I got their Keff was very helpful and just totally honest on what would most likely fit how I surf instead of pushing me in another direction just for profit, he also made things easy by having all the accessories I needed for my board in stock! A one-stop-shop is not just a figure of speech when you come to Flight Boards Hawaii. The prices here are reasonable and totally down to earth! I got set up with the 9'-1" Makaha Epoxy Longboard, board sock, Day bag, and 6.5" box fin... all in a single visit. I need to also mention that the Flight brand Day Bags have a unique design that allows space for the sidebites and a Velcro opening for the box fin instead of a zipper. This allows the fin to be sealed from both ends. In all honestly this review is based on just meeting Keff for the first time and going down to Flight Boards and just simply checking it out. Like I said it's a cool little shop, its laid back, has a vast selection of boards and lots of friendly knowledge!

Each board can be custom tailored as mine were. There are so many boards out there and it can be overwhelming to find the one that is best for you. From the novice to the expert, Ballistic Boards are a good fit. I researched many sites and B.B. have been around for more than a minute and have a good 15 years of hands on.
