The place is cool. You place your order then they bring it to you. We have gone there twice but I probably won't be going back any time soon. Everything was mid. Except for the brownie. The brownie was not to great. Maybe if you have it super fresh and warmed up, but once it starts to cool, it hardens. Their Mac n cheese, banana pudding and flavored lemonades are the best items I've personally tried so far. The banana pudding should be a slightly bigger serving size though. Prior to ordering we just knew the experience may not be the best. Ordering is a pain! The area to order is teeny tiny. There may have been 3 individuals in front of us and one large family behind us. We were all scrunched up in the doorway/ordering area and it just made the start of the visit frustrating. Someone walked in and cut right in front of us because there's no clear flow for ordering. Its just not designed well IMO. The cashiers were not as attentive as they could have been and lacked a sense of urgency. They also had to keep leaving their registers for whatever reason. They claimed they were out of angry orchard but we could clearly see a case under a shelf and the daiquiri machine wasn't working. Despite our unpleasant ordering experience, the food was good! I ordered a Buffalo jal chicken sandwich with cheese and it was very savory. Fries were decent. Margarita was a slushee. Oh, almost forgot.. they brought out my bf's food prior to mine so I had to sit there for a few minutes waiting for my meal. Overall it was okay. Food is delicious, service is trash!! I came in yesterday around 3. It was not crowded at all. I noticed that people who were seated after us had been getting their food. I saw a server take food that looked like my order to a table next to me. The people were saying that wasn't their order. So I realize she took my food to the wrong table which I didn't want after others had been picking all over it. I went to the troubleshooting area asking what was going on with my food. The girl standing there kept saying, huh, you like your food? I was in disbelief that nobody there could understand what I was saying!! There was a language barrier which was not helpful to me. Some guy came over and said they had my food "right there". I said, no she took that food to another table and I no longer want it. So, there's this table full of workers sitting and hanging around. They took my fish/shrimp platter that I didn't want and started eating it!!! (Are they purposefully messing up orders so they can eat it?!) They took the burgers to the back and suddenly multiple workers are coming in and out of the kitchen eating the sweet potato fries!!! I was literally in disbelief because they truly didn't GAF!! They finally got my orders ready which I stood there to make sure they didn't give me anything wrong. Sure enough we get to the table and there's mustard on the burger we said no mustard on!! What pisses me off more is that NOBODY came over to check if everything was ok? What was the problem? Is the order correct now? They did not care! All they did was sit around and eat and mingle as though they didn't just make paying customers have a bad experience! We visited Mia's on a Saturday afternoon and all I can say is where has this place been all my life! It isn't a huge place and it seems that a LOT of people really like this place and they pack it! The basketball team that my girlfriend's grandson plays on decided on Mia's after the last game of the season. I has never heard of it, but I was open to trying it out. Approaching this Upper Kirby location (a block east of Kirby, in a neighborhood behind a shopping strip center) I figured parking would be a concern. The parking lot is not very big, but luckily there is a parking garage just across the street. There are tables outside near the parking lot and along the wrap around porch. Inside, there are a good number of tables and enough room to accommodate a few large parties. They also have a party room. Ordering was interesting. The line was out the door, but not because there were lots of people in line, but because of the two registers being just to the right as soon as you walk in the door, only accommodating queue of two or three guests. An additional registers has to be used to assist with the crowd. I ordered a "half-pound brisket burger" that came with French fries. Michelle got the burger, too, opting for sweet potato fries. My kiddo ordered chicken tenders. I was given a buzzer, but it never went off. Maybe they used GPS to find out tables . Alas, the food arrived and it was very satisfying! My well-done burger was flame-broiled to perfection and it was juicy! I has a strawberry lemonade that had me going back for seconds and thirds. They also have free ice cream cones for the kid (and adults who are kids at heart). read more

It was super crowded so I thought the food was going to be very good. It was 6 of us. I ordered chicken fried steak, mac and cheese and black eye peas. They don't have a lot of vegetables to choose. 4 others ordered fried fish, shrimp and onion rings and 1 other ordered hamburger. I didn't eat half of my order, the chicken fried steak didn't taste freshly made and very plain taste, the mac and cheese was ok but I really wanted a veggie and the black eye peas taste like it had ginger in it. I'm not sure what spices were used but since it taste like ginger I didn't eat it. 3 of the others that ordered fried fish and shrimp are triplets and all of them only ate a little of their food. The one that ordered the burger ate all of it and said it was good so if I ever go back there I may try the burger. I asked for a too go plate and they asked the triplets if the need one and they said no, they didn't really like the food either. For Entrees we had the Chicken Fried Steak & Chicken Fried Chicken. Having lived in Texas for a few years I know a good Chicken Fried Steak & I can say this one was amazing. Amazing! We had Mia's for our "teamsgiving" office party and everyone in our group of 4 was able to get exactly what they wanted. It was the perfect holiday spread with home style staples and american favorites. The online ordering menu and process made ordering very easy as it was clear, organized, and to the point. I was able to label every single item with the employee's name which kept everything super organized and easy to manage. The delivery process exceeded our expectations.
