My wife and I moved from California and have been trying to find a decent Mexican food restaurant. Unfortunately this is not the one and our hopes and expectations were not met. We got chips and salsa right away which was nice, but after getting our drinks we waited a bit longer than expected to order and almost felt ignored by staff. The food was mediocre and pretty tasteless. Everything covered in cheese which made it worse. I have been going to this place as long as I can remember, and every single time I go I am not disappointed! Their salsa is fabulous, chips warm, rice perfect, and the cheese melted on their refried beans is fabulous. I always get their two shredded beef tacos, and am honestly lost for words whenever I eat them. They have some sort of lime/italian dressing they put on their tacos, which is the icing on a perfect cake. Even my husband, who is a picky eater, loves their food. I crave it all the time. And it doesn't empty out your wallet. A combination plate (entree, rice, and beans) is about $8.00. A friend told me this place was good and boy was he right. I love Mexican food and so i was down to try something close to me with a good reputation. I got one of the combination plates and it was very good. Some of the best I've had in Utah County if not ever. The wait time wasn't as long as we were initially told so we got seated fairly soon. Very authentic and delicious Mexican sit down. Never to busy, wait times are about 10-15 minutes. Chips and salsa are on the house, which are excellent, but don't fill up on them. My favorite beverage here is lemonade, might be the best lemonade I've ever had. Entrees are extremely large, and could feed a couple people. This is my favorite Mexican food restaurant of all time. The owners continue to personally prepare the food to ensure the highest quality. The turnover is really low, therefore the employees are very knowledgeable and do a really good job because they want to work there long term. Every time I go to the restaurant I see the same employees/ family that has been there for years. Some of the servers/bussers are the children of the owners that have been around the restaurant their entire lives. The restaurant has been family run for 3 generations. A lot of family pride of ownership is felt with every visit. You can be sure that you will get great quality food and a friendly atmosphere. The environment is old school, authentic Mexican. It is a great place whether you're on a date or taking out the whole family. Every time my family comes to town, we are sure to pay Mi Ranchito a few visits. Came into the restaurant on Tuesday night to have supper with my wife, ordered 2 Cadillac margaritas and was brought watermelon margaritas, strike one, ordered queso dip appetizer and was brought yellow cheese from a can with chips, strike two, had chips and salsa brought to us and we ate those, server asked us if we would like more chips and salsa and we indicated yes, they never showed up, I ordered Mole Poblano and the chicken was brought out as two whole breasts not cut-up and the mole sauce just dumped on the chicken, my wife burrito was not as expected, we indicated to our server that her burrito was not right and she dismissed that, strike three, I have been coming to this establishment on and off since they opened in 1983 and this service and quality was by far the worst I have ever received, my wife indicated that she does not want me to ever bring her back there again, I would not recommend this establishment at this time. read more

The food was OK, but the chicken enchiladas had chicken bones in them. The service was terrible! Never had a water or soft drink refilled. Not really the waitresses fault, she had way too many tables! We came here for a birthday because we had people from both ends of the country coming, we usually go to the American Fork location. For six of us we spent well over $100. They came and sang happy birthday, but didn't bring the fried ice cream that the American Fork location always brings for birthdays (which is why it is one of our favorite choices for birthday dinners!) when we asked about it the waitress brought one out then a few minutes later came with a new bill for the ice cream! I think it was $8. When I questioned that the manager came over, which if he was really the manager I would be shocked. He told us the owner of this location wouldn't do that because people lie. He acted like we were trying to cheat him. It was rude and offensive. I told him we have a Drivers license to prove it was indeed a birthday dinner and that I didn't appreciate the accusation. He said it didn't matter. He was rude about it all! I told him we always went to the AF location(for like 30 years!) and had never had a bad experience. I told him about the chicken bones and showed him my plate. He picked it up and took it with him without any comment. I told him we never even got refills on water because the waitress was so busy. He actually shrugged! The sweet waitress did bring me a water to go when I asked for one. I felt bad for her, she was really overwhelmed. I will NEVER go to the Orem location again! I assumed since it was the same name, it would be the same owner. I won't make that mistake again. If they ever make a mistake, which has happened more than once, they get defensive, make excuses and NEVER give you so much as a free drink. People with Celiac cannot tolerate even minute amounts of gluten. I should have known when the manager gave me a 'deer in the headlights ' stare when asked if the rice and beans were gluten-free. HAIR IN MY FOOD!!! This review is based off of my experience today 11/26/2017. I've eaten at Mi Ranchitos many times and it's been a good experience. Great home style food and great service. Today, for some reason, they couldn't have been less professional to me as a customer. I ordered my food. A #34 plate. It came out with a hair in it. I noticed it right away and immediately called the server back to my table. I showed him the hair in my food and they said they would bring me a new plate. Side note: I've had the same experience at an Olive Garden happen. They comped my meal and the manager personally came to my table and apologized for the inconvenience. I appreciated that kind of customer care and courtesy for my patronage. For some reason the manager Linda gave me a really hard time about sending my food back and said because I received a new plate. That I would still have to Pay for half my bill. Wait a second. I'm sorry, I came hungry to Mi Ranchito to eat dinner. You sent out my food with a hair in it. Show some customer appreciation for your mistake, which caused me an extra 20 minute wait and my friends food to get cold while he waited as well to eat. Instead she said I should have just left if I wasn't happy with my food. So basically I'm supposed to leave hungry since I wasn't happy with the fact that I didn't like a HAIR in my food. I understand you gave me half off. However, the principles of treating a returning customer with respect and acknowledging your mistake were completely mismanaged in this occurrence. If you serve a hair in your food, then that customer doesn't pay! Learn a lesson in customer ethics and appreciation guys. You're better than that. We came to this place right before closing as a group of 9 and we were still treated like gold. Our waiter Tanner was attentive and filled our drinks, gave recommendations and kept us chips and salsa full all night. I like the food here. It's not the worst Mexican food; though it comes out too fast to be fresh. The reason for the rating is service related. Last year we tried to come here for a birthday dinner. My sister called to make reservations and they said they didn't take reservations and just come early. Ok. We came early and then they told us they didn't have a table for us because they had a reservation for 17 coming in. So suddenly they do take reservations? Alright, we went somewhere else. This year, again we wanted to come here. This time we chose lunch. On the restaurant's website it allows you to book a table. I did so and then called when they opened to make sure they got it. They said they don't take reservations...okay. Update your site then. I asked if we came early would we be able to get a table. He said sure. I came 20 minutes early. They said it would take 20 minutes. 30 minutes later my party arrives and the guy I spoke to says another 10 minutes. Look. I've worked restaurants. This is unacceptable. I tried my best to make this happen and you'd think they'd want to work with us. I know this has to do with when other patrons leave, but I did all the steps that should have led to a table. I am a regular customer here. Not anymore. There are much better Mexican restaurants who act way more professional. read more

If I could give zero Stars absolutely would have. I ordered food online I chose exactly what I want I went to pick it up and I got all the way back home and literally nothing was correct and I am not exaggerating literally nothing at all was correct. So I called them and told them on their website I chose ground beef and even in the note I put please make sure it's ground beef. So guess what happened I go all the way up there I come all the way home obviously it's not ground beef and shredded beef which I do not like at all so I called them and that's when I found out they don't even serve ground beef even though it's on their menu even though it's on their order form but no no they don't serve ground beef. I have to admit it's the most ridiculous immature asinine thing for a website to offer something that they don't actually have, that makes no sense at all to me and I've worked in the customer service industry for 20 years. So i obviously called them and told them I got all the way home with my take out food and of course nothing was ground beef and that's when she sounded shocked like oh no sir we don't carry ground beef, so I questioned her as why it's on your menu that's in the store and why is it on your menu that's on your website and why didn't I get a warning when I chose ground beef and for you to tell me you don't have it. So if you have a problem and you have to call up to that store you're not going to get help at all, at all, and they're just going to assume it's somehow your fault even though you chose exactly what it said on the menu. It's incredibly frustrating I just moved to Utah I love Mexican food so I was looking at the reviews and I thought I hit a good restaurant and obviously I did not and I will obviously never go back there again and I know that doesn't hurt them and I know they're packed and crowded and people go there but all I'm saying is don't fucking say you have something if you don't fucking have it, it's ridiculous and the worst customer service. So I will never go back there again,,, and again I know that don't affect them at all believe me but eventually as many times as you keep fucking up it will at some point affect them.. it don't affect the waitresses it does not affect the servers it does not affect the kitchen staff but whoever owns the place it will absolutely affect them if they continually to false advertise and lie to their customers. I just went by Yelp app to see if this is a good restaurant and it just goes to show you that even on Yelp if they have a good amount of stars none the less they'll still false advertising say they have something they don't have in 99% of people will never leave a review to tell everybody else they're just flat out lying to you. Again I haven't three separate places that I have found through their website through Yelp through calling them that I would be able to get ground beef to my tacos then come to find out they don't even sell ground beef.. I know this review will get lost in the internet basement but nonetheless, I respect a restaurant so much more if I get their food and the order was correct and I just don't like it, I respect that, I would never leave a bad review just because I don't like the food. But what I don't get is lying to a customer in multiple locations that I do not get.
