As a transient Mexican from its bordering state of Nayarit, I would have to say that the menu is authentic and the food is phenomenal. Drinks are on point and a vast array of liquor, especially tequilas. Always a stop for me every time I come into the area to visit my in laws. read more

My husband and I sat at the bar on a Monday night. It was pretty crowded and we could tell instantly that we were surrounded by some " regulars". We chose the bar because usually we find that the service is better at the bar. Not this evening as our surly bartender, Isabel, made it clear that she wasn't happy to be there at all and made us feel lucky to have menus thrown at us and to have our drink order taken. She rarely responded after taking our order, to the point we weren't sure if she even heard us! The food came out quickly enough but she was dismissive and short toward my husband when he went to order another drink but then was cozied up to the drunk regulars next to us, as was what appeared to be a manager or owner(?). He literally rested himself on the shoulders of a regular next to us while our cranky bartender reluctantly ran around, trying to keep up with the influx of customers. He buddy... you might try jumping in when your servers are slammed and make yourself useful. The food was ok. As always, mediocre and dumbed down. Typical Mexican food in America, not so authentic. It would've been more bearable if the service was decent. We're done with this dump. read more

Strip malls generally creep me out but one reason for visiting this one is Mi Jalisco, a surprisingly good Mexican restaurant in an unfortunate location. We forgot to order an appetizer but our entree portions, which arrived very fast, were more than enough! I had chicken "enchilandas with green sauce" (tomatillo salsa). The presentation was beautiful: 4 enchiladas topped with just the right amount of cheese, a sprinkling of onion, fresh cilantro, and tomatillo salsa. It was nicely spiced, just a moderate amount of heat. It was fabulous. My partner had "enchiladas supreme" with sour cream, lettuce, tomato and melted cheese over the enchiladas of beef, chicken and cheese. He liked it but felt it needed more spice, a bit of a kick would have improved it. The casual atmosphere plus our no-nonsense waitress (none of that silly "hello my name is..." garbage and fake smile-tip trolling overly attentiveness) added to the enjoyment of our evening. The prices are very reasonable, definitely on the low side. It was our first visit, we'll be back! read more

My wife and I have faithfully eaten at Mi Jalisco's for several years. It was one of the better restaurants in Keene. However, the last few visits both the food quality and service has gone out the window. We were the only customer's in the restaurant last Sunday. I had to remind the waiter twice to bring the queso we ordered. My wife regularly orders the grilled chicken enchilada. This time, the meat was over spiced and dried. She had a few bites, then left the plate. Afterwards, she was violently sick. I normally have the Mazatlan Fajitas or the Shrimp El Diablo. These used to have good seafood content. Now, the scallops are the size of nickles and the shrimp are closer in size to krill. On the Fajitas, most of the meat now is chicken. The Shrimp El Diablo used to be hot enough to jump start a dead mule, now it is tepid and the prawns replaced by krill. It's too bad, because there are not a lot of good options for restaurants in Keene and we always enjoyed coming here. read more

My daughter and I came here tonight on a whim I wanted chips and salsa and she wanted rice and beans. Place is very inviting and pretty on the inside... When it gets busy i understand how busy it can be sometimes the service was slow tonight but I have come here probably 6 times now since it had opened I do really like the different options compared to other Mexican restaurants in Keene. I liked it. I have a hearty appetite but the portions on the vegetarian fajita were absolutely ENORMOUS, too much, actually, so I brought half my meal home. Standard margarita, still yummy. I still like Pedraza's better but this is a great second option for us. EDIT 4/22/2014: We've been back a few times and they seem to have hit their stride. The portions are still enormous and the waitstaff are really pretty nice. I tend to go there now instead of Pedrazza's. Try one of their upscale margaritas, they're yummy. Edit 6/10/2014: After a few more visits I'm upping it to 4 stars. Edit 3/30/2015: It's our go to place for Mexican now especially since the frozen drinks at Pedraza's have really slipped in quality. read more

The food is bad, but the atmosphere is fun. I ordered a seafood rice dish, and there was that fake lobster in it! I couldn't believe they were going to charge me in the teens for that!!! But my kids loved it, it's always mobbed, a great place to go with the people from work at lunch or dinner. read more

Sadly I was beginning to think that I didn't like Mexican food, but thanks to Mi Jalisco I've learned that it's not true. There are two other Mexican places to eat here in Keene and only 2 out of the 10 times I've had food from the other places they were descent. I really was starting to be convinced that Mexican food was not by thing. Mi Jalisco's food was five stars from the two times I've been there. They are consistent, fast, professional, very very polite and above all just damn yummy!!! I won't eat at the other two places anymore, I'd rather eat alpo dog chow. If I'm getting Mexican food I'll insist that it's from Mi Jalisco because it was all around a great experience. read more

Keene has too many Mexican restaurants for its size, but if only one could stay I would wish for it to be Mi Jalisco! It's the best Mexican place in the area, with friendly and efficient waitstaff, a clean and comfortable dining area/bathrooms, fun background music, a convenient location, and MOST IMPORTANTLY delicious food at reasonable prices. They have a big menu with plenty of variety, and we will continue to frequent this place. read more

My wife and I love this place, we probably eat here at least once a week. She almost always gets the same thing (I'll let her write her own review of that dish) but I've been trying new stuff. Go to the back of the menu and start ordering their special dinners, you won't be disappointed! If you just want to stick to 'traditional' Mexican fare, the quesadilla grande is fabulous. Yummy and good value. The Margaritas are great. We did try some end end ones, we could tell the difference but to us it just wasn't worth it. Oh, and the salsa they bring, they must make there there, it isn't from a jar and the taste varies a lot, but always good. We had been fan's of Pedraza's in town but when they started making bad Margaritas we tried Pedraza's and are glad we did. This is the best in Keene. read more

Food is always superb and much better than most of the other Mexican restaurants out there. The waitress was NOT there. Seriously. We arrived shortly after 2 to find out that the luncheon menu was not offered. (Look at their website, it runs until 2:30, we were not late) When we asked about the specials, she rolled her eyes and told us of the one (of two) that she remembered. At 2:00 not knowing the specials? We asked about what was in a fajita dish that was a special and she said, "it's spicy". What is in it? "Meat" she replied, "Lots of Meat". We asked if a particular beer was an IPA, Yes. she said. We ordered it and no it was not, it was a spiced beer. We ordered our meals, I was to get a fajitas shrimp dish. Instead what I got a vegetarian fajitas. "I thought you said vegetarian?", was her reply when confronted. In fact, I feared not pronouncing the dish correctly when I ordered it, so I both said it and pointed to it in the menu for her to see. At 3:00 she was gone. No follow up, no clean up or anything. Our usual waiter came by, asked how things were and we told him our story. HMPH, he replied and walked away. Just great! Huge menu, moderate prices, super service and delicious food. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and accommodating. Kids menu too. Having lived in Jalisco I can say this is some of the best Mexican food I've had Stateside. Don't be put off by its location next to Hannaford's in a strip mall. Really convenient if you're traveling north on Routes 12, 10 or 9. Right off the highway on West Street. read more

Great food! But when it comes to customer service they are not so great! When we first got there our waiter promptly came and asked us about drinks he was very patient at this time. We received our food quickly. But when we got our food the plates were handed to us without warning of how hot they may be! My husband burnt his hand! The rest of the table had luke warm plates and were able to almost finish our food by the time his was cool enough to eat. He was able to get the attention of a waiter to express his concerns. Not to complain but to let them know he wasn't warned and he doesn't want this to happen to someone else! The waiter he talked to wasn't our waiter and when we expressed our concerns he responded "ok buddy" and walked away and laughed with the other waiters while staring at us the entire time. Watch out for the guy with the lip tattoo on his neck, he's a real winner. read more

We absolutely love this place. Some are very disappointed. I may have an explanation: if you live in New England, or even travel to Mexico, you are usually eating food from central and southern Mexico which is a VERY different cuisine with soft tortillas, seafood, wonderful earthy sauces, fresh veggies and a more deconstructed plate. We love that too, it's just a different trip. If, however, you know Mexican food from Southern California or Texas, or pretty much anywhere in the desert southwest, you'll get something very, very close to what Mi Jalisco offers: heavier on the sauces, the cheeses, the spices, the chilis, etc., and a lot more is fried. Some call this Tex Mex. It's quite different. But let me tell you: if this is what you miss in New England and you try these folks, you might never leave. You might even park your Winnebago behind the strip mall and live there a while...It's that good. And if you want this kind of Mexican food, it simply doesn't get much better than this anywhere north of Oklahoma. That it exists in a strip mall in Keene NH just 30 minutes from our home in Southern Vermont makes us feel just that much better. Try this joint! read more

The hostess was nice enough, we were seated quickly. The tables are all booths, which is nice & cozy, but the tables are cheap & wobbly. Service is slooooooowww...... Oh my god so slow....... Like their Milford location, none of the servers speak English well making ordering tricky & making asking for something "special" - like NO CHEESE - completely impossible. Ordered my meal with no cheese & no sour cream. It came out WITH cheese. It took so long, I just scraped it off & said nothing. Server never came back to see how our food was. Had to grab him MULTIPLE times for SIMPLE standard things like a drink menu, a refill on our drinks several times, boxes for our leftovers, ordering dessert (he never asked), our check.... *sigh* There weren't even enough drink menus for the restaurant & the few that they had were borrowed from the Milford location!! So 1/2 way through our meal, our server came back & took the drink menu for another table. I know they just opened this month but come on...... Type up a temporary drink menu, print enough for each table at least, stuff it in a sheet protector, & hand it out with the menus. Ordered fried ice cream for our eldest & a kids ice cream for our youngest. Two HUGE "fried" ice creams came out. Now maybe they don't have a kids size of ice cream. In that case TELL us that the only size is the huge fried ice cream so our kids can split one & we don't have to throw out 1/2 of both!! I had the fish fajitas. The menu said breaded fish but when it came out thankfully the fish was NOT breaded. They were tasty although 3 tiny flour tortillas is not nearly enough. Took 1/2 of it home & ate the leftovers later with a fork. Slightly below average salsa although not bad. Chips unfortunately weren't warm, fresh, & made in-house like at similar places. I was hoping this location would be better than the Milford one. Unfortunately it is not & with so many other great restaurants in Keene, we probably won't be back here any time soon. read more

I was out running errands and suddenly felt very hungry. Hadn't had anything to eat since a bagel at 6:00 a.m. and it was now 3:00 p.m. Wanted Mexican and, to my knowledge, there are only 3 choices in Keene. I have just moved to the city recently. I was near Mi Jalisco and had eaten there once before when it first opened and really liked it. I was too late for lunch as it stops at 2:30, so I went to the bar and ordered a Cuervo margarita while I waited for my takeout order. The margarita was GREAT! I was just about finished with it when my food came out and I paid and left for home. It was still nice and hot when I got home and they had given me a BIG bag of tortilla chips and quite a big container of salsa to go with my jumbo steak burrito. I am stuffed and it was delicious. Having just moved to Keene, this will definitely be on my go to restaurants list when I am looking for good food and drinks at a reasonable price! Need to find out if they deliver :-) read more

Although the service was good, the food was only okay. After 15 years living in the southwest, I can tell the difference between caso fresco and American cheese. The cheese was runny and left a "milk" at the bottom of the plate of nachos. This made the nachos soggy and not very palatable. They did have pickled jalapenos, which helped the food. Although not the best I have ever had, it is closer to Tex-Mex than any other I have found in town. I will have to try it one more time. read more

I have been here on several occasions now and have really enjoyed my meals. The wait staff are sometimes slow, but the food is always hot, fresh and good. I specially enjoy their chips and salsa. I have a few favorites so far, the Enchilada special dinner, the cheese enchiladas are yummy. While small, three enchiladas with beans certainly fills me up. My husband has enjoyed their chicken fajita nachos twice now. The food is not overly spicy, which suits me just fine. I will continue to eat here as often as I am able. I'm so glad that there is finally a decent Mexican restaurant with authentic Mexican food in Keene! read more
