My spouse and I dined at Mi Dia in Plano tonight. It was to celebrate my birthday. We are regular customers. My dinner (combo fajitas) was very good. When I asked my spouse how his meal (Pollo Agave) was, he said that the chicken was tough and difficult to cut. I was disappointed and would have brought it up to our server, but my spouse was almost done working through the meal, so it wouldn't have made a difference. We normally both have good meals here, but my spouse's meal was a big miss tonight. I wish he would have said something earlier, so that the staff could have addressed this issue. read more

Mi Dia has an interesting menu with some delicious food and the ambiance of this location is really nice. We went for an early Saturday dinner and noticed the patio seemed to be where all of the diners wanted to be. We watched people file into the restaurant and then immediately head out to the patio to be seated. It was a lovely day outside, so it made sense! The food was really good and the only reason I am giving a 4-star rating is for the prices. I felt their prices were a little high on some things that should have been more affordable. The cup of queso was $8.50 (and it was just queso. No meat, extras, etc). Also, $2.50 for a can of Diet Coke is a bit outrageous. It is so uncommon for a full-service restaurant to only serve soft drinks by the can and to charge an outrageous price on top of that wasn't cool in my book. I wonder why no soda fountain. Most people want/need drink refills. The soft drink situation is a turn-off for us, so it is unlikely we will return but if that is not something that would bother you, I would say this place is worth a try. I stopped at Mi Dia in Plano last night with a friend of mine. I have been several times over the years but I guess have never reviewed them. The restaurant is located off of the North Dallas tollway. The entrance is rustic and the doors are heavy and unique. Walking into the restaurant you are instantly welcomed with the beautiful aesthetic. The bar is one of the focal points of the restaurant and has a circular bar top with a prime view of the kitchen. I like the textured tile. The seating throughout the restaurant is well appointed, the bench seats are cushy and suck you in. I like the privacy screens that they used around the restaurant to create some division. Stacked stone on the walls give a nice texture. The patio overlooks a fountain and has a nice ambiance. A lot of the Craft cocktails are centered around tequila which I'm not a huge fan of but my friend certainly is. She tried several drinks and enjoyed them all but the one we got a kick out of was "when hell freezes over". It is a bubbling concoction that has a really nice spice profile and is served in a martini glass, the dry ice bubbled and fogged for quite a while. It was garnished with a spicy salted rim and a cucumber. Really fun. There were so many fabulous options on the menu it was really hard for us to decide! We had elote for an appetizer and shared the carne asada and the salmon. The carne asada was perfectly cooked and was served with sauteed onions, rice and borracho beans. I did feel like it was missing one other item of substance, perhaps peppers or small potatoes would have been a nice mix with the onions. The salmon had a delightful flavor and with paired with a mango puree and a shredded cucumber top. Both really flavorful. Our server was friendly and had great follow-up, she did a great job. Even though the dessert menu looked decadent and amazing, we had both eaten so much that we couldn't have managed a dessert if we tried. We've been going to Mi Dia for over 7 years and are not returning anymore they have gone way downhill in their service and a bit in their food quality. We've noticed the past 3-4 times we've gone service has suffered- and our last visit was the last straw. Our server had way too many tables (including a large group)- we were neglected and our table of 4 had to wait over 30 minutes to place our order. Orders were confused and their was an overall frantic and almost "can you help us out and just take what we give you attitude". The meat has gotten "chewier" , the cheese has been barely put on tacos and waters and chip baskets go unfilled. When at the end of our meal the Manager came out to bring out the desserts (that had been forgotten well after our bill had been paid) he didn't introduce himself our apologize or ask how or meal was. We had to ask him if he was the Manager and when he confirmed he was and we told him about our experience- he didn't care. He didn't even pretend to care. He just mumbled something about being short staffed- like it was our fault and offered us a free dessert (which we had no interest in). His apathetic uncaring attidude was the last straw. We have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment over the last several years because we live so close and won't be back. There are so many restaurants within a close radius with a similar cuisine I encourage people to try somewhere else. read more

My husband and I finally were able to make it over to this place and it didn't disappoint. The customer service was wonderful, and the food was even better. I love Mexican food and could eat pretty much anything, but I decided to stick with my ole' faithful - chicken flautas A.K.A. deliciousness on a plate. The rice was some of the best I've had and their refried beans had a nice cilantro taste to them. After stuffing my face with chips and an entree, I decided to also order the churros. I was initially disappointed that they weren't dusted with sugar, but the minute I bit into them....OMG. Imagine a beautiful combination of sugar and cinnamon (I'm sure there were other ingredients) topped with a warm caramel filling. WHEW! I'll definitely be back JUST for those. First time visiting Mi Dia from Scratch, Plano, and had an outstanding experience that began as soon as we walked in the door. When you walk in, you are greeted by the incredible tower of tequila in the center of the bar, which you can view from anywhere in the dining room. After being seated, our server Sergio introduced himself and took a few minutes to get to know us. Based on our conversation, Sergio made some very excellent recommendations which we really enjoyed. Our meal started with the margarita of the month, a watermelon margarita, garnished with a cube of delicious watermelon, a leaf of mint, and a glass rimmed with tajin on one side. We also opted for the table side guacamole, with all of the accoutrements (tomatoes, chile peppers, chopped onions, and bacon)! Awesome guacamole for sure. Everything was so fresh, it was amazing. Our entrees were seafood enchiladas and calamari tacos. The calamari tacos are the special for May. Very awesome dishes. The seafood enchiladas were beautifully presented in blue corn tortillas with a sauce that is to die for. I could have eaten a bowl of the enchilada sauce alone and been happy. And the calamari tacos, genius! Perfectly seasoned and fried calamari served on blue corn tortillas, with kimchi, guacamole mousse, micro cilantro, and kimchi aioli! Wow!! Incredible fusion of flavors. Sergio's recommendations did not disappoint. To finish everything, Sergio recommended the house made churros dessert. The churros come with a house made ice cream and an awesome chocolate sauce that ties everything together. These are some of the best churros you will find anywhere, and the chocolate sauce, just like everything else at Mi Dia, superb. Had brunch here last weekend and was IMPRESSED! The place had all you could want in ambience from a quiet, elegant dining experience to a bright, sun-lit Garden room. The service was FABULOUS. Sergio was excellent with his recommendations and his five-star service. I enjoyed the street tacos and the poblano rice and black beans was a nice change from your typical Mexican rice and beans. I will say it. Didn't think it would ever happen, in my opinion, Mi Dia is better than Gloria's. There I said it. The freshness of the food, the fabulous servers, and quality control. For me, the food does not have to be great so long as it comes out temperature hot. Now if the food is meh and served room temp, that's very disappointing. In the last two months, I've been to Mi Dia 5 times. Food ALWAYS come out temperature hot. The chips are always fresh, never stale. It's hit or miss at some places. The salsa tastes like great salsa, and served chilled. I love chilled salsa. Drinks are great. Their frozen margarita is too sweet for me - so Gloria's got that one. One member in our party required a chair without arms due to medical reasons. We asked them if they could provide with one and they said they didn't have them. That would be fine except that we saw on the other side of the restaurant, there were several tables with wood, armless chairs. I asked the host but she said all tables were taken. Again, I completely understand if all chairs are occupied but several tables with four chairs only had two people dinning. It is not hard for any server to ask if they could take one of the chairs, and I am sure the guests wouldn't have minded. Instead, they just said "sorry, we don't have any". Needless to say, I was very upset for paying such a high cost and having a family member be very uncomfortable just because they didn't want to go out of their way to switch a chair. My family & I went here last night to celebrate a birthday! The chips and salsa was so good, service was great! Drinks didn't take long at all. I had a prickley pear margarita with tajin on the rim.. yum! Lots of drink options. My daughter had the Xmas burrito, it was so huge & she devoured it I had the chicken chimichanga (as pictured) super delicious. The rice is really good, better than most Tex mex places. Truly enjoyed our time. The lighting was low which we like, they do have an outdoor patio which is covered but we decided to eat inside only because it was sprinkling. I came today because I saw their 'patio' expansion was complete and I wanted to check it out on a quiet day. However, it was too loud from the minute I walked in. I attributed it to being near a table of seven and asked to move to the back corner, which is partially hidden by a wall. The decibel level was still so loud, I tested it on my Apple Watch and it registered at as high as 85 decibels with only five tables seated. The food is always good, but I usually came here as much for the atmosphere of that beautiful patio. I knew I was going to be disappointed when I saw them walling in the patio, but had hoped it might still be a nice spot for chilly or hot days when I saw the floor to ceiling glass windows, but no. The menu features upscale southwest/New Mexico styled offerings ranging from appetizers and street tacos to combination plates. The menu is not overly complex and offers something for everyone. The restaurant is nicely appointed with a modern southwest oriented decor. There are concrete floors with bare tables, it is very loud during busy times. Parking is sufficient. Service was adequate. Our waitress was not energetic and seemed somewhat disengaged. She did not inquire about drink refills, but did refill drinks promptly when asked. Meal service was fast and efficient.
