I have lived in north texas going on 5 years and have FINALLY found my go to Mexican restaurant! West coast Mexican food is very different from tex mex and the Mexican food I find here in texas. Cali-mex reigns supreme to me, and I felt so disappointed in the Mexican food I experienced in the dallas metroplex. That disappointed is gone now that I have found mi dia! Everything I have tried, from the free chips and salsa, to the shrimp and steak fajitas, to the tableside guacamole has been absolutely delicious! Their drink menu is extensive and all drinks i have ordered have been visually stunning and tasty. I have no complaints about mi dia, aside the fact that it is now causing me to dine out more than I should! Love the plano location, the grapevine location is more fancy with the decor and just as good with their drinks and food. Service is fairly consistent, I have had waitstaff whom were more attentive at the grapevine location. Nonetheless, I haven't had a horrible experience with service so no complaints from.me. it's a popular restaurant and if you go at peak dining times, I understand there can be a bit of a wait. read more

There are so many tex mex restaurants in Dallas but its hard to find the good top 20. Mi Dia is one of them. Ambience is great. Plenty of seating. Service was good. We ordered shrimp tacos and chicken enchaladas. Both were great and the presentation was great too! The mojito was ok. read more

I ate here for a work dinner earlier this week and enjoyed it. The inside of the restaurant had a somewhat spacious feel, with good lighting as well. As for the food, the tableside guacamole was delicious!! Definitely recommend trying this appetizer as it was full of avocados & delicious mix-ins. The Xmas burrito was a huge portion size which was a definite plus. The only thing is if I ordered that entree again I probably would've preferred it without the sauces. Mi Dia never disappoints. I always enjoy. every visit. Their appetizers are yummy, especially their l queso and guacamole, which is prepared table side. Their house salsas are really good - both green and red are served with chips as a compliment to your meal. We ordered a lot of beef dishes this visit and all dishes came out cooked perfectly! The meat was so tender and savory and paired well with their yummy bean soup and rice. If you are into mixology, they have awesome cocktails. The presentation of their drinks are great and even better taste great! Their staff is always attentive and really make an effort to make your experience great. They even pack your food for you too if you need to go bags and containers. Overall the ambiance is family friendly and they have several locations across the metroplex. read more

We used to love the happy hours here but no longer. In order to get happy hour food specials, you have to sit at the bar itself in high, uncomfortable stools even though the restaurant is deserted. Although expensive, the food is good; however, the only 'deals' now are the $9 margaritas during happy hour. We will be going elsewhere for happy hours in the future. read more

My spouse and I dined at Mi Dia in Plano tonight. It was to celebrate my birthday. We are regular customers. My dinner (combo fajitas) was very good. When I asked my spouse how his meal (Pollo Agave) was, he said that the chicken was tough and difficult to cut. I was disappointed and would have brought it up to our server, but my spouse was almost done working through the meal, so it wouldn't have made a difference. We normally both have good meals here, but my spouse's meal was a big miss tonight. I wish he would have said something earlier, so that the staff could have addressed this issue. read more

Nothing beats finding a last-minute lunch spot before your flight more than consuming the gooiest, sauciest enchiladas possible. Normally these large, merely gentrified-looking Tex-Mex spots don't deliver on the authenticity, but everything (from the food to the service) was pretty good. read more

My husband and I came here for date night bc we'd both been wanting to try it. We were excited to try a new Mexican restaurant patio bc that's our favorite thing to do - margaritas and fajitas on a Mexican restaurant patio! All the pictures of the patio here on Yelp showed an outdoor patio that was covered, which is perfect in the heat. When we got there I said we wanted to sit on the patio, so they took us to an indoor patio completely closed in by a wall of windows. I clarified and said "oh actually we were wanting to sit on the outdoor patio" but they said they don't have an outdoor patio - it was just this one. I have attached a picture of what the patio looks like now - they've removed the fence and replaced it with a wall of windows, so now it's just an indoor patio We only stayed for 1 drink and then left to go somewhere else that actually did have an outdoor patio bc that's really what we were wanting to do I am giving it 4 stars for now bc our drinks were good and they were strong! And the food did look good. But it's missing an outdoor patio. We will come back another time when we aren't looking for an outdoor patio and I'll update my review then about how the food is! Tasted spice and not enough flavor. The chips were pretty good, though again, I like mine a little more salty and thicker than theirs. The salsa felt like standard restaurant grade salsa, nothing special. The main dish however, was really good. I got the hatch tacos with rice and beans. It was flavorful, spicy, and filling. It wasn't too spicy, maybe a 2/5 on spice, and the meat was cooked to perfection. My fiancés shrimp tacos were equally as good, as she is the shrimp lover and she gave it her seal of approval. The churros were solid, especially when mixed with the ice cream. Lastly, the ambiance but more importantly our waiter was fantastic. Lovely small talk, knew the menu, recommend the churros and we were not disappointed. read more

We went yesterday evening for a corporate dinner, and the hosts were SO flexible with our reservation (timing and #ppl). We ordered several items, but I'll call out a few: -Table side guacamole- get this. It comes in a large bowl and is available mild/medium/spicy. We got medium and I accidentally ate a half jalapeño with seeds (and I'm a child when it comes to spice lol). I'd get the mild next time. -enchiladas Del Mar - this was the special of the night. It was very sauce heavy, but good. I'd recommend the tequila pesto enchiladas (with shrimp) over this if you want something fun with seafood. - Sandy's combo is for your usual tex mex lover or indecisive person (oops that is me!!!). It got rave reviews from an out of town foodie. -churros were good, exactly what you expect. Fluffy, caramel-filled, and served with a nice cacao dipping sauce -sopapillas were also a hit. These are a must for me, but the table preferred the churros if you can only get one! I will warn you, their food DOES have that kick. If you're used to tex mex or prefer things a little more mild, make sure to voice that so you order what works best for your palate! We'll be back :) read more

Perfection as usual. I move around to different locations and this one is my favorite. I started the night with the house signature drink. Y'all it's so good. I had three because they're that delicious. I also ordered table side prepared guacamole and it's some of the best around. They top it with bacon and the flavors come together very nicely. Of course I brought home the leftovers! Duh!!! For my entree I continue to get the pollo agave which is a breaded & flambéed chicken breast topped with a shiitake mushroom cream reduction, served with masked potatoes and chayote. We've been going to Mi Dia for over 7 years and are not returning anymore they have gone way downhill in their service and a bit in their food quality. We've noticed the past 3-4 times we've gone service has suffered- and our last visit was the last straw. Our server had way too many tables (including a large group)- we were neglected and our table of 4 had to wait over 30 minutes to place our order. Orders were confused and their was an overall frantic and almost "can you help us out and just take what we give you attitude". The meat has gotten "chewier" , the cheese has been barely put on tacos and waters and chip baskets go unfilled. When at the end of our meal the Manager came out to bring out the desserts (that had been forgotten well after our bill had been paid) he didn't introduce himself our apologize or ask how or meal was. We had to ask him if he was the Manager and when he confirmed he was and we told him about our experience- he didn't care. He didn't even pretend to care. He just mumbled something about being short staffed- like it was our fault and offered us a free dessert (which we had no interest in). His apathetic uncaring attidude was the last straw. We have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment over the last several years because we live so close and won't be back. There are so many restaurants within a close radius with a similar cuisine I encourage people to try somewhere else. read more

First time visiting Mi Dia from Scratch, Plano, and had an outstanding experience that began as soon as we walked in the door. When you walk in, you are greeted by the incredible tower of tequila in the center of the bar, which you can view from anywhere in the dining room. After being seated, our server Sergio introduced himself and took a few minutes to get to know us. Based on our conversation, Sergio made some very excellent recommendations which we really enjoyed. Our meal started with the margarita of the month, a watermelon margarita, garnished with a cube of delicious watermelon, a leaf of mint, and a glass rimmed with tajin on one side. We also opted for the table side guacamole, with all of the accoutrements (tomatoes, chile peppers, chopped onions, and bacon)! Awesome guacamole for sure. Everything was so fresh, it was amazing. Our entrees were seafood enchiladas and calamari tacos. The calamari tacos are the special for May. Very awesome dishes. The seafood enchiladas were beautifully presented in blue corn tortillas with a sauce that is to die for. I could have eaten a bowl of the enchilada sauce alone and been happy. And the calamari tacos, genius! Perfectly seasoned and fried calamari served on blue corn tortillas, with kimchi, guacamole mousse, micro cilantro, and kimchi aioli! Wow!! Incredible fusion of flavors. Sergio's recommendations did not disappoint. To finish everything, Sergio recommended the house made churros dessert. The churros come with a house made ice cream and an awesome chocolate sauce that ties everything together. These are some of the best churros you will find anywhere, and the chocolate sauce, just like everything else at Mi Dia, superb. All in all, Chef Deleon has his team in Plano operating at a high level and they are putting out excellent food and giving each of their customers outstanding dining experiences with a personal touch. Had brunch here last weekend and was IMPRESSED! The place had all you could want in ambience from a quiet, elegant dining experience to a bright, sun-lit Garden room. The service was FABULOUS. Sergio was excellent with his recommendations and his five-star service. I enjoyed the street tacos and the poblano rice and black beans was a nice change from your typical Mexican rice and beans. My brother ordered the carne asada, which was mouth-watering delicious. I will be ordering that next time. The manager dropped by to make sure everything was perfect - nice touch.
