There are a couple of signs when you arrive at a Mexican restaurant that will let you know what your food experience is going to be like. First test, chips & salsa....Passed with flying colors! Loved their mix of red with green salsa. It had amazing flavor! The chips were light, crisp, with the perfect amount of salt. Next, the house margarita. Since they have a back lit tequila tower of 100 agave tequilas, I knew this would be a home run....And it was! And lastly, the beans. I tried both the charro & refried black beans. They are everything you need them to be! Even though I was pretty full by the time I put together a perfectly balanced fajita, I'm so glad I made room for it. On of my favorite spots in Plano. The ingredients are fresh and the New Mexico style Mexican food is wonderful. The salsa is a combination of two types and I would vote it the best in North Dallas. We have always used the patio while dining, even in the height of the summer. The fans are the perfect touch to cooling the area. I enjoy the street tacos and have tried all the combinations. Final found my home for quality Mexican food in DFW. In fact, after moving here from El Paso, there is no other place I will probably go for great Mexican food... and margaritas. The chips and salsas are awesome and the only thing wrong with them is they are so good it's hard not to eat too many before dinner. I recommend the tableside guacamole for sure and again, remember to save room for dinner when you are diving in. We had fajitas, enchiladas, tacos and several other dishes and they are all awesome and highly recommended. The ambience and service polish this off for a rare 5 start rating. For my lunch I went with Pibil which is pork shank rubbed with achiote, wrapped in banana leaf and roasted. It came served with roasted habanero salsa, esquites (which was like elote off the cob) and Oaxacan black beans. I thought all were quite good and really enjoyed the pibil and equites. I do not think I've had a more flavorful salsa. It's served as a duo of green and red. The green is mild and the red is super hot. For dinner I had grilled shrimp tacos. From the first step in, to your last bite of the day, you are guaranteed great service and fantastic Mexican food. I definitely recommend the table guac as an appetizer and the complimentary chips and salsa is splendid. You can always tell a restaurant's quality from their complimentary food. For entrees everything from their taco salad, chicken nachos, chicken flautas, and chimichanga is phenomenal. Absolutely horrific experience on June 24, 2022. We were a group of about 14 people seated at two tables near the back. The restaurant was clearly short staffed. The ordering process has tragic. The waitress has no idea how to manage the orders for a large group with lots of kids. Drink orders were taken after the food arrived. Some people had entrées before the appetizers came while others had no food yet. Vegetarian options are sparse. Prohibitively expensive considering the quality of the experience. A hidden gem in Plano. We have driven by this place for years, were curious about it, but didn't try it until a month ago. It's truly one of the best Mexican options in our area and that's saying a lot. Has something for everyone. I'm a huge fan of the table side guacamole. After today's visit, I will not return to this place we have gone here numerous times the last time I told the manager what was going on and how the service was not up to parl We are sitting at the bar and you still have plates sitting in front of you they don't pick them up. This makes us totally sad because we have tried to be a patron of this place because at one time it was really good and it was top-notch no more. I also was charged $21 for a 2oz pour of tequila. When the bottle only cost $56 a Total Wine that's ridiculous ! we will not be here again. I have eaten at Mi Dia numerous times and enjoyed it, but in Mother's Day, unfortunately we had a subpar experience. We arrived early for our reservation and asked if it was possible to be seated early, and the hostess replied she would try. She had trouble finding my name so I had to show my OpenTable app reservation. And in fairness it was very busy and very crowded I am assuming because of Mother's Day. After 10 minutes, I then received an open table notice my reservation had been changed from 4 to 5 people. I had to tell the hostess we were 4 not 5 and then she said it was her mistake. 5 minutes later I received another OpenTable notice asking how my dining experience was and thank you for dining at Mi Dia. Just all very confusing. I had then to go back up to the stand and let them know we hadn't been seated yet -we were still there waiting for our reservation, at that time she just said I can seat you now. At our table there was no setting for silverware and we actually never received the silverware until we got our food and we had to ask, at that time they said they have to go see if they have any silverware because the dishwashers were washing it all?? They had run out. They were able to bring us 3 silverwares and had to wait for a fourth. While our food had already been served Our server with very quiet and only sporadically attended the table, this is unlike past experiences we've had at this restaurant. There were long waits between ordering drinks, ordering food, and check ins. The food was good, as it has been in past visits but My salad arrived with no dressing, again I had to get up to find him to ask for it. . I'm not sure if Mi Dia has gone downhill or this was just too busy a day for them to keep up. Otherwise a pretty sour experience for Mothers Day dinner. read more

However, the lunch menu is a bargain. Less expensive than Mi Cocina or Pappasitos. This is one of the upper tier Mexican restaurants in DFW. TexMex yet a flair of New Mexican which I really like. For starters the chips and salsa were very good. They serve a red with a dab of green chili in the middle. It has some heat which I also like. The service is excellent and the decor is upscale. Ordered the number VI, Enchilada, Tamale & Taco served with Guajillo Rice & Beans. Substituted chicken for the taco and enchilada. The tamale is only available in pork. The tacos are spot on. The chicken enchilada with sour cream was good. I really liked the tamale that is hand made with a little heat and yummy. The rice and beans were also very good.
