The service at this place has lacked for years now. I'm so done with this location. We used to come here for team happy hours, and I finally convinced the team to branch out. It always took forever - F O R E V E R - to get drinks, to the point where I would order 2 at once because, hey, the first one goes down fast. The waitstaff was just so oblivious. The chips and salsa are okay and the food is actually good, but service counts for a lot to me... and it consistently misses. I attended a team happy hour here again recently (after getting out-voted on venue), after a lovely hiatus of maybe 3 years. Yup, same old service, 3 years later. I admit it got better as the night went on and the restaurant cleared out, but it was never crowded enough to have drinks take that long. It was just... so spotty. Some in our crowd got drinks *reasonably* quickly, but others literally waited 15-20 minutes. I went with my old standby of getting 2 beers my first order, and I'm glad I did... Other Mi Cocina locations are not like this. The one down the road at the Shops at Legacy is usually much better, for instance. They need to coach the folks at this location - and/or they need to get some quicker people working the bar. Maybe it's the bar that's slow to fill waitstaff's drink orders - I dunno. Mi Cocina always has good food but their margaritas are what they do best . The atmosphere at this location is very nice , especially their patio on the pond. Good friendly service rounds out the experience so give this place a try . read more

I went in the other day for lunch with my boyfriend and was honestly grateful I chose this spot. The food was great and the vibe at this place was nice. Horrible management. Been a loyal customer for 15 years. We always order the same thing, yet this time they couldn't fulfill my request: not to mention our waiter was awful and my nachos we're soggy. I hate leaving bad reviews but I have to for this location! I will start off by saying the actual restaurant/area is nice and the food was good, typical Mi Cocina. The negative part of my review is because of the service. We have dined at many Mi Cocinas in the area and this was the worst experience we've had. We came in on a Sunday and were seated in front of the kitchen area. Our chips were empty for a good 15-20+ minutes and our food came out. We had our empty chips bowl filled with trash on the edge of the table for them to see and literally 10+ employees walked by (because we were seated in a high traffic area going in and out of kitchen) and not one person took the initiative to take it off the edge of table and ask if we would like more. Similar situation with the drink refill. I get we are assigned someone to help us but that does not mean you shouldn't take initiative to help a customer, especially when it's so clear and so simple. read more

I've eaten at the Mi Cocina in Highland Park, and enjoyed it. This location was recommended for a business lunch I was hosting. Atmosphere: upscale and nice. Not as happening as the one in Highland Park, but very pleasant. Service: really fast. Our waiter gave us the time we needed to talk but made sure we weren't left with empty glasses or in need of anything. Food: I had Mama's Tacos and my companions both had Rico's salads. I enjoyed the tacos and appreciated that they weren't greasy or heavy (like Tex-Mex can be sometimes). Salsa was a bit garlicky and nicely hot. Prices: rather high for what it is. $15 for 3 grilled chicken tacos is a rip for sure. But, if someone else is buying or you can expense it, this is a good place to stop. read more

I love this location for the giant patio overlooking the lake and pretty suburban homes! It's a great atmosphere on a weekend or fun weeknight when you want to have a mambo taxi and just kick back. Their chips are always so cardboard-y tasting to me (really they are just too thick...as I prefer a lighter crispier chip) but the salsa is fiery and good. I love their chicken dishes here as well as their brisket tacos and fajitas. The drinks at this location are always strong too and the servers are more on it than at other ones I've been to. They have been open for quite a while so I have many fun memories here! I think it's time for a trip back to enjoy some patio fun especially as it starts to cool down with the upcoming fall weather. read more

I've tried the Cocina Changa and Carne Asada. Everything was really good. I really like that they let me get a beef and chicken Cocina Changa (instead of having both with the same kind of meat). The rice and beans are great too. The guacamole is outstanding. The half size is about a full size at other restaurants I've been to. It's plenty for 2 people and could probably be enough for 4. I also got the margarita. It came just as I ordered it (on the rocks and no salt - which is surprisingly hard for people to get right). I don't normally order mixed drinks but it was calling me. I had the brisket tacos, served on a platter with avocado slices and a slightly above average salsa verde in a separate dish. Four small tacos in (again) slightly above average corn tortillas (factory made) were filled with dry brisket with a modest amount of flavor. The salsa verde added a tangy note that didn't pair well with the brisket IMO. Saving the dish a little was the accompanying cilantro rice; very nice texture and flavor. If it's brisket tacos you want, head to Mia's Tex Mex in downtown Dallas; you won't be disappointed. read more

Since she is from Chicago where it's cold & breezy this time of year, she wanted to sit on the patio to enjoy the lovely Autumn weather here. The patio was facing a huge fountain. Nice view. We ordered chile con queso with picadilo beef. It was very blah and so were the chips. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce from the can. I ordered Tacos Clasicos with seasoned ground beef, rice on the side. Again, blah. I ate one out of three tacos. She ordered Sunset Enchiladas, and he ordered Tacos Mi Tierra. We go here weekly. The service has been great and the managers are actively visiting each table whether it's a weekday or weekend. Go easy on your margaritas.... the bartenders really keep track of your drinks even when you sit in the other side of the restaurant with a separate tab running, they somehow know how many you've had when you come up to the bar to order. I've been denied, but then maybe they just know me too well. We always bother them with extra this and that and have all sorts of condiments over crowding our table, yet they are awesome and always accommodating with all your requests. I can't remember a single time I've had a bad experience here. We come here every week when we can't decide on a place to eat and aren't in a mood to be disappointed. We came here tonight and it was about 9pm and we had to wait about 15 minutes before anyone came to seat us but she had been talking to another employee and kept looking at us and finally came and seated us.
