Rusty's is still the best place to go for the best Tex-Mex tacos. The portions are huge, prices are still super cheap, and the flavor is excellent. The staff are always welcoming and you never have to wait too long for your food. Pro Tip: in the area where you pick up your food, there's a mini fridge filled with salsa you need to pair with your tacos. read more

Stopped by Rusty Taco and had a great experience. I ordered two fried shrimp (Baja Shrimp) tacos and two BBQ brisket tacos, both were good. We also got chips with queso, guacamole, and salsa, and everything tasted fresh and perfect for sharing. Fun, laid-back spot with solid tacos, easy / in and out experience. The outdoor patio is also really nice. read more

My taco was rusty. The place felt rusty. I felt rusty. I believe it's because my joints are rusty.

Best neighborhood taco place! Made fresh and right in front of you. Homemade fresh salsa is the best. None of those ketchup package options. Friendly and fast with plenty of parking. Open early for breakfast! read more

Good to be back. Needed fast food place close to home to get other errands done after lunch. New menu board and new items to enjoy. Like a number of friends/family there for Sat lunch. We got the usual two tacos each but they seemed to have more stuff in them. Next time one taco apiece and split side dish. New table tops as well. See new photos. read more

Not too shabby! Not too shabby at'all. Clean interior. Pictures ALL over the walls of folks in their Rusty Taco shirts, all over the world - super fun. Nice staff - helpful. Wide variety on the menu. Pretty standard prices for these days (not a "cheap" taco joint, but not super over-priced either). I went with a BBQ brisket taco, black bean taco, and egg n brisket taco. The BBQ brisket was best by far. Yummy and well-rounded. Lean brisket but sauce made up for it - and I prefer lean brisket. Black bean taco was pretty good - would have been borderline boring if not for the roasted pumpkin seeds, which was a cool twist. The egg n brisket taco needed some help - eggs weren't overcooked but they needed something (salt, pepper, some melted cheese) and brisket was lean and dry enough that it didn't save the taco. I definitely prefer lean brisket and don't want to pay for chunks of fat on my taco, but this was a bit dry. Definitely a fun spot and tacos were interesting and above average. Nice patio, top. And the guy who I assumed was the owner was nice and helped bus tables, which is always awesome. I'd go again but would branch out on taco options. read more

great spot! VERY similar to torchys but I think the quality of food here is better. our favorites were the steak fajita, the rusty, and the shrimp! queso and pico here are also good, but the hot sauces were out favorite part (get the orange one!) this place is pretty small but it has a cute little patio outside for when the weather is nice. vibes of this place are really homey! read more

Rusty Taco - philly, brisket, steak fajita - Tex-Mex Near Me - Plano, Texas

As much as I respect my peers and their reviews, many of them are very old. This is by far one of the best taco joints in Texas. The food is Uber fresh, all sauces are made from scratch, the prices are fantastic considering how full the tacos are but my favorite scratch item was their margaritas. Like WHERE have you been all my life?!?! We started with a couple tacos to try, but it was so good we tried the salsas, chips, and drinks! If you miss this place, that's totally on you, but I would gladly drive a pretty good distance just to eat here again. Easily top 5 taco place in the US. And say hi to Joe for us... he runs a pretty tight ship, super friendly and genuinely wants all his customers happy! read more

Phenomenally rude, discourteous and offensive behavior by the young man taking our order. He made us unwelcome and I wish we had just walked out and left our order behind. Have been eating here since it first opened but not coming back. read more

Rusty Taco is absolutely the best food deal in Plano, and the quality is fantastic. The truffle chicken taco was unbelievable, as were the fried corn fritters. Also, never leave without churros - those might be the best thing on the menu. 10/10. read more

Are you looking for some delicious tacos? Rusty Taco is the place to be! I've been a fan of this place. Food is delightful and inexpensive, I ordered their Baja shrimp, black bean tacos, chicken fajita taco, and fried chicken taco .my favorite were the Baja shrimp and the black bean taco, street taco" style, but that did not stop them from holding out on the number of ingredients they put in these excellent little tacos; Churros were the best cramel filling inside and coated with cinnamon sugar with a pinch of salt. The ambiance was good. The service was fantastic, friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. read more

Hadn't been here in a while, still trying different things on menu. Strayed from my usual fish and/or shrimp to try the steak, and I was very impressed with the amount of meat on the taco! This is my Friday morning go-to breakfast spot. Their breakfast tacos are excellent, the staff is superb in taking care of your order and Joe, the owner is a great guy that really believe in taking care of his customers. Joe - We've been coming for 5 yrs, Kai and I. We order and go out to the patio. Kai is an Italian Greyhound. Kai didn't wear his service dog vest this time. Your new manager approached me asked me to leave will I was waiting for my order. He said people aren't allowed to pet service dogs. The hell they aren't. If the owner allows it, it's fine. He was very aggressive about the topic. I tried to explain I was just ordering and going outside to wait. He said not again. He won't order for me. How in the hell do I order? He couldn't answer. So am I no longer allowed to come like I did for the last 5 yrs? read more

Orders came out correct. Tried the steak nachos. Takeout, and expected some sogginess but the chips were way more soggy than needed given the entire plate was submerged into a pool of cheese sauce then more sauce on top. Would be so much better with grated cheese not this rotel nacho cheese sauce from concession stands stuff. Chicken fajita bowl great as always. This time they went much lighter on the dressing which is good - recommend ordering dressing on the side to apply as much as you want just double check the order that it was included. The roasted pork taco stuffed to the gills with pork! They are not stingy on the proteins. read more

Unfortunately my husband and I found this place too late. We moved about 2 months from our first visit. This was my pregnancy craving! Great food, great service. I had some issues with takeout a couple of times, but the managers always offered compensation and were understanding and kind. My favorite dish is the steak bowl. If you like cilantro this is your place! The churros are amazing, and my 18 month old couldn't get enough of the queso. Just try it, you won't be disappointed, and if you are... just talk to the manager on duty, they will make it right. read more

Food was really good! The breakfast burritos are a must try. They could work on the customer service aspect of things a bit though. The lady at the counter was not very friendly and had headphones in which is not the best look and make it seem like she was more worried about something else other than the patrons in front of her. Will definitely be back! read more

Been coming to Rusty Taco for many years and it's always wonderful. I love the owner and the atmosphere he shares with all of his customers. They recently started selling t-shirts and I have them in 3 different colors! I'm proud to wear my favorite taco spot around town and across the state. Food is always on point. Meat is tender and always generously filled. I love their brisket tacos! Their jalapeño ranch is also so good with their fried chicken taco. You won't be disappointed!!! read more

So these were the worst breakfast tacos I've ever had. That includes gas station tacos. First the flour tortilla was thin and tasted like paper. This would be a good choice if you wanted to accentuate the savory flavors of what's inside but those don't exist. I had one brisket, egg, cheese and one bacon, egg, cheese taco. I knew they were going to be bad when I first saw them with cold shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Not a single shred had melted indicating the meat and eggs weren't hot enough. The first bite of the brisket taco I was greeted by a soggy salty mess of cold brisket. Underneath were cold powdered eggs. The chopped crispy bacon was good but not enough to raise the bland eggs and tortilla to a level I would have enjoyed. Oh and coffee at 8am tasted like a blend of tar and gasoline with only one flavor of creamer (French Vanilla) to help mask the taste. The ambience is a typical taco joint aesthetic it only has metal stools. No booths or chairs anywhere. read more

I have been coming here for years. The food is incredible! My favorite is the #12 black bean taco. But honestly, you can't go wrong. The chips and quac are amazing. Don't forget to get a peach taco for dessert Staff is super. Love how clean this location is!! read more

Wonderful atmosphere. The team at Rusty's are always cheerful. The food is fresh, delicious, and made to order.

New menu was good for a change of pace. Service has always been A. As the weather cools, outside seating option is nice.

It's tacos, it's close by and they don't skimp on ingredients. That's a win. That being said more than half the time I go in there I get the wrong order or items are missing. I go every weekend and wouldn't if there were a closer option. So really hoping they can step their game up! Went today and they gave me the wrong order and I have to drive back to pick up the right one. Just teenagers behind the counter today. Quality control is lacking. Let's go Rusty! Get it together. Would love to continue giving you money but you are making it harder and harder to justify doing so. read more

Ordered via Doordash. Got the Rusty, the roasted pork, and the Baja Shrimp taco, as well as chips and salsa. Baja shrimp taco was DROWNED in sauce. An absolutely ridiculous amount of chipotle sauce. Whoever made that did it on purpose or just didn't give a shit about quality control. Where's the standards? Ruined the taco for me. It should've just been a drizzle on top. Meat on both the Rusty and the roasted pork taco, needed salt. So they underseasoned their meat. No one should ever have to add salt to a taco...also, canned pineapple on the Rusty. All it communicates is tacky, cheap and flavorless. If you're gonna do pineapple cut real chunks of pineapple, or just don't do it. On the bright side, their orange hot sauce was actually hot. I'll give them that. It's hard to find establishments with "hot" sauce that's actually hot anymore. Chips were good as well and all their salsas were pretty good (red needed more salt). read more

Rusty Taco - Baja shrimp taco with a disrespectful amount of sauce. Does this look appetizing to anyone? - Tex-Mex Near Me - Plano, Texas

Such a disappointment on this visit, especially when I'm craving a good, fresh, hot taco. I ordered the grilled shrimp taco, fried fish taco and the potato, egg and cheese. Both of the seafood tacos were covered in purple cabbage, I mean A LOT! The grilled shrimp taco had a half of a lime, peel and everything, so unpleasant, then the shrimp itself, tiny and dry. How is that possible?! Then covered, drowned in some chipotle mayo sauce. On top of that, none of the tacos were hot, the breakfast taco was severely under seasoned and way too egg heavy. Honestly the only thing that had potential was the queso. It was hot! read more
