I would have scored the location a 5 star but the staff fell short of the customer service experience. The tacos were good and appropriately stuffed. The queso was delicious- the chip were over crunchy but good. Warning two tacos is plenty.... At least for me read more

If mid-westerners invented tacos they would taste like this. Years ago it was reasonable, but now you struggle to find flavor. Not to mention they use powdered eggs in breakfast tacos which is a cardinal sin. read more

Great ambiance, excellent margaritas, all the staff is happy to help, fast service, and tacos have a pretty decent amount of filling. Prices are also very reasonable. I like it specially for a Saturday morning breakfast tacos experience. Definitely coming back read more

Currently new to Plano from San Antonio and wasn't sure if any place up here could give me all the flavors and deliciousness as down South but the freshness, the homemade sauces, homemade tortillas, everything cooked to perfection. Joe personally introduced himself to me and greeted everyone as if they were family, great customer service from the whole staff. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was inviting. Great place! read more

Rusty Taco - #8 Baja Shrimp Chips & Queso - REGULAR - Tex-Mex Near Me - Plano, Texas

It's fast and good, small little place but they sell breakfast all day on top of their regular menu items. Margaritas as well. Egg, potato and cheese is very good. read more

The measure of a good taco place is in its hot salsa/ sauce. The reason being mostly because you wouldn't go to a sauce shop to try tacos so you go to a taco shop to try sauces and salsas. That is my theory as restricted to this review and subject to change at my own whims. The thing about tacos is they have high saucibility. You pour the sauce in top but it also gets into the food due to the open top and you can see it as you eat it so you avoid the out of sight, out of mind effect. That's one of the reasons sauces works so well with them. So that tangential thought aside back to Rusty and his Tacos. Pretty good. There was a large variety to choose fromand I ended up with blackened shrimp (devine), fried chicken (mmm good) and brisket (not bad). They were all flavorfully enchanced by the excellent hot salsa which inspired this piece of writing. Yay! read more

This was my first visit to Rusty Tacos and it definitely won't be my last. The food was great and the staff was so friendly. Definitely worth a visit. read more

First off, I recommend this place. The food is pretty good. I did have one thing I considered going up and ordering one more, but that was on one of five tacos I tried. I started with the Texican and it was a spicy ground beef lettuce tomatoes and cheese, so your standard but nothing about this one was standard. This is a top notch taco and came in 2nd on the five. The Picadillo left a lot to be desired. It was bland and far from what I consider good. I am a native Floridian so I may be biased but I don't think so. This came in 4th. The Fried Chicken was frankly, just not up to the standards of their other tacos. There is nothing positive to say about this one. It struggled to even come in 5th out of five. If I may recommend, get a better piece of chicken to fry. This was dry and screamed of bagged chicken patty. The Rusty Taco is Achiote pork with pineapple, onion and cilantro. This one wasn't bad but not earth shattering either. I did like the sweetness of the pineapple up against the pork. Still, it was missing a wow for me. Came in 3rd. Now in 1st place and the one I almost went up to order another was the fried shrimp taco. I am a huge fan of fried fish and shrimp tacos. They have both but I went for shrimp today and boy am I glad I did. Compared to other places, they are in top contention on shrimp tacos. Loved the creamy Baja sauce, cabbage and cilantro. The shrimp were not over cooked which was a big win. Would I come back? Of course, but I would order the fried shrimp and the Texican only next time. I might try a new one as well. If I had just ordered the top two today I would have added a star. read more

Maybe the mistake was getting it to go. The potato and egg taco were really good, as well as the chips n salsa. The bean taco and Raja taco were both really saturated and the tortilla fell apart on the raja. I'm all for street tacos, but soggy tacos are no bueno. read more

I used to come to R Taco when I was in undergrad at UTD and now that I've moved away from Dallas I am always certain that I find time to visit when I come back into town. Their menu items are so reasonably priced, your order is ready SUPER fast and the employees are friendly. Yesterday my husband and I got 5 tacos and chips and salsa for $18, which compared to other places such as Velvet Taco is like half the price. Give this place a try! read more

Rusty Taco - Roasted pork taco, grilled Baja shrimp taco, chips & salsa - Tex-Mex Near Me - Plano, Texas

Stopped by Rusty Taco after visiting the post office next door. I hadn't been there for about 5 years, when I lived and worked in Plano. Ordered two fish tacos, husband got the nachos and the food was delicious. The staff were extremely nice and courteous. I went back and ordered a guacamole and chips and got a nice size cup and a huge amount of chips for $4! Amazing! Chips were warm and delicious. And she said she would give me more chips if it wasn't enough?! I had enough to last me a week! They have self-serve fountain drinks and picnic table seating inside and out. read more

Always a family favorite go to for us! Great street tacos, queso, guacamole & chips! Consistently Good!

As far as pricing, customer service, location, seating options and whatnot and how their handling COVID, I give these guys a 5. Loved being able to sit outside at the big tables. I ordered the two veggie options they have on their menu (one of each) and the black bean was reeeeally good! The other one was sort of forgettable, mostly because it didn't have a ton of flavor to it. The guac is really good and their salsa is the kind that's really runny without any chunk to it at all. It's good as "taco sauce" but not really chip dipping salsa....in my opinion. Their margaritas are pretty mediocre because they were on the sweeter side. At first I thought it was because it was a blended marg so I ordered a second one (for good measure, hahaha) and got it iced. Still sweet. Needless to say, we're still trying to find out go-to taco place out here that's not downtown AND has a veg option. As much as I love going into Dallas, it's more convenient for me to stay more North of Dallas when trying to run and go get take-out for the fam! read more

Just stopped by because I heard they had great breakfast tacos. Sign says breakfast tacos served all day. What it doesn't say is that your if not bought in the morning, you are paying full price for crusty left overs. The egg was cold. The bacon was brittle and stale. Cheese not even warm much less melted. So gross. So gross. So gross. read more

This was fine, but I wasn't super impressed. The price point was right, and it looks like it probably has a fun atmosphere in the right weather. Rustys is an all time fav for quick tacos and queso. Staff is friendly and quick.. big patio that always seems to be cool in the evening

This place was too damn good !! Came here and ordered 2 brisket nachos , and indulged with 2 Carmel filled churros . The churros were 1.75$ each but pretty huge, and I believe the nachos were around 6.50? Each. ( also giant.) The queso they had on the nachos was some of the best ive ever had , and ive had a lot of damn queso!!! The atmosphere here is super cool, with tons of outdoor seating space . They have different sauce bottles all over the place as well which all tasted delicious . If you want a decently priced amazing meal, I recommend stopping by this cute yummy place !! read more

Last trip to R Taco on Oak Lawn. Employees have their friends / family members being served better than a paying customer. Sloppy work on my shrimp tacos. Could have done this at home! Not even warm! Customer service was spot on. The young man at the register was polite and took the time to go over the menu with me. I ordered the chorizo egg taco and the bacon egg taco. The chorizo taco was really good. The bacon taco however was not. The bacon was so crispy it felt like it might crack my teeth that's how hard and crispy it was. Tacos were done in seconds almost like they were pre-made. Considering I live down the block from Daddys Tacos in Mckinney and they are amazing and cook to order. I don't see myself returning here. read more

I can't believe I have not reviewed this place yet. Our family has been coming here for years! All the tacos are outstanding. The staff is always friendly. Ya girl is cheap. So Rusty taco being packed full of flavor at a low cost was a huge win for me and my lunch alone. This gorgeous little brisket boat and caramel packed churro was less than $5. Their little boats (the size of a small paper "boat" like you see in the photo) are any taco made in a boat on lettuce instead of a taco and cost less than $3 each. They have large boats that are less than $5 each. That lovely little churro is $1.75. Water from the fountain is free and there you have it--lunch for 1! read more

What can I say I absolutely love to here, On the way home from a long day with a friend who came from out of town - we saw this taco shop. I'm never not in the mood for tacos so I thought it was worth a try. I got the Baja taco, chicken taco and the nachos and boy oh boy- what a party! The chips were fresh, tacos were crisp and I ordered a churro I couldn't even get to because I was so full. Overall this is a great taco place, not really authentic street tacos but still good in my book. Adding to my list! read more

Rusty taco leaves a lot to be desired. You walk inside and music is blasting, you walk outside and music is blasting AND there are bugs everywhere. Loose-loose situation for seating. The first bad sign was how fast the tacos came out. We sat down and they were ready. The tacos were not great. The brisket one was okay but the rest were terrible. Go to Torchys instead. read more

Rusty Taco - Chicken fajita, brisket, fish, shrimp - Tex-Mex Near Me - Plano, Texas

This is my son's favorite taco place. They beg me to come here. It is close to one of my son's doctor, so we can make it over a couple times a year. It's your run of the mill taco dive place. They sell one thing and they make it well so it's always packed. We always start with the queso. It is creamy and thick. It has a decent amount of heat. I think next time I'm going to try to get taco meat or brisket added to it. My son's favorite taco is the Texican. It's your standard ground beef taco with lettuce, tomato, and cheese on a corn or flour tortilla. I had the shrimp taco. It is a lightly battered and fried shrimp with a yummy Baja sauce, cabbage, and cilantro. Next time I will add avocado with it. I think the avocado texture could add to the complexity of taco. I also enjoyed the grilled fish taco. It also has a yummy chipotle sauce with cabbage and cilantro. Great meal with my boys! read more

Overall this place was disappointing. We ordered 2 picadillo, 1 brisket, 1 egg/potato/cheese, 2 black bean tacos. The potato in the picadillo was very firm and not cooked all the way. On the egg taco, the tortilla and eggs were not warm enough to melt ANY of the shredded cheese. The brisket taco wasn't bad, and the price was ok. $2-3 per taco. read more

I've had Rusty Taco a few times, mostly in a catering format and the tacos were always good. However, I went in to try some of the breakfast tacos for a change and they were really disappointing. The eggs were room temperature topped with cold cheese, this was consistent across several varieties we ordered. The tortilla was stuck to the foil, making for a very unpleasant experience. read more

Great selection of tacos. They are a little smaller than some of the other competitors, but quick and priced well. I've been here a few times and the food is nothing to complain about. The breakfast goes H.A.M and you have to get chips and salsa. One thing to note: The service can be poor. I don't why. Maybe it's their inexperience, lack of customer service or attentiveness (all of the abode). Since I love taking care of my team at work, you'd think after spending $60-$100 each time I visit (to-go), they'd offer something to drink while I wait (only one person). Instead they say you have to pay. Can't I get a break? I just wanted coffee. read more

This is a smaller venue with tables inside and a nice little patio. Every taco is $2 but the shrimp is $2.50 a taco. Margaritas are $5. Chicken fajita taco and steak fajita taco were the best out of the 4 we tried. I had the Piccadillo as well which tasted like corned beef hash and the fried chicken taco. Since my days in middle school when Rustys opened, it has established itself a Plano staple by dominating the street taco market. In this retrospect, I've had many trips through their doors for a great compromise between freshness and affordability, but it's difficult to say it has lasted the test of time. Quality over the past visits have been fluctuating- sometimes well seasoned, often times dry meat. I doubt my opinions at this point will alter the crown of Rustys in Plano, but I can only wish for more consistency going forward. read more
