I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! i personally think that they're better than torchy's tacos...they're cheaper too (even though they've recently gone up 10 cents in price) and everything is made fresh in house...including all the chips and salsas!! i've tried most tacos on the menu and my favorites are the fish taco - either fried or grilled, the brisket taco, and the fried chicken taco. they serve breakfast tacos all day too!!! i absolutely LOVE the brisket breakfast taco!!! they not only have red and green salsa - but they also make a habanero salsa which is extremely spicy!!! yum! chips are made fresh and the queso is amazing. why even buy salsa from the store when you can get fresh chips and salsa for only $1 at rusty's!? they're open super early in the mornings for breakfast and they're always packed during lunch/dinner/weekends so you know it's good! read more

Rusty Taco - clockwise from the top: chips&queso, brisket taco, fried fish taco - Tex-Mex Near Me - Plano, Texas

NEVER do an online order at this location! This is the 3rd time it has happened to me that items were missing. Tonight, I was forced to go back up there for refund because he would not pick the phone up to talk with me, instead pretended I had hung up on him. He never hung up & I could everything going on in the store. The new younger manager lacks people skills. Disappointing! read more

Wasn't too thrilled from this place. It was a bit disorganized. Got the fish taco and brisket taco. The fried fish was cold, seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. Tacos weren't flavorful either. read more

Rusty Taco - Tacos - Tex-Mex Near Me - Plano, Texas

Of all the places in Plano, this is by far the most disappointing. We live right around the corner, and it would be so awesome to have a great place for tacos, queso and margaritas. There is some hype about this place and it always seems crowded, but I just don't get it. Because it is so close, we tried it a several times and everything has been mediocre. The queso is just OK, the tortillas are usually stale, the fish tacos were super dry, the breakfast tacos were fine, etc. I absolutely love Torchy's tacos and this place isn't even close to as good. So, Ill just drive the extra 5 minutes to get exactly what I want! read more

I am a huge fan of Rusty's! Especially this location because of the employees. Lately, they have been dripping the ball. I usually order the fried chicken taco and for the SECOND time this week y order has only the jalapeño sauce on it. There is no coleslaw and there is no cilantro. Just chicken in a taco with some sauce so your mouth doesn't get dry. You guys need to step it back up. I could have made this at home UPDATE: I went back in and Joe took care of my new tacos! These taste amaze balls! Thanks again for fixing that for me. Btw Stephanie is amazing. I'm a frequent flyer here and she always remember my name. read more

This is one of those drive-bys that turns into a favorite. I was starving one morning, figured they had breakfast tacos, and I pulled in to get some. They DO in fact have breakfast tacos and they are pretty much all delicious. Brisket/egg/cheese taco - My favorite! Juicy, tender brisket that's still very flavorful. Delicioso! Bacon/egg/cheese - A little salty (the bacon is) but it works in the taco all together and you pretty much can't go wrong with bacon. Potato/egg/cheese - An oldie but a goodie. Yum! Chorizo/egg/cheese - As with all chorizo items, this is super greasy. Like, drip all over your hands and whatever is underneath your mouth - so NOT car friendly. But? Tasty. Jalapeno sausage/egg/cheese - Nope. Just didn't like it. Another time I stopped by craving some chips and queso. Their chips are actually pretty good. They're not seasoned and very lightly salted, but because they make them there they have a good crunch. Their queso was... interesting. When it was piping hot and still liquidy it was good, but as it cooled it became pretty much inedible. Not my favorite thing. Also, the queso is SPICY so be warned. I am about to bribe the entire office with two dozen of these bad boy breakfast tacos, so if you see me rollin' into this place in a few months in a Porsche, you know I got one hell of a promotion off these! read more

Delicious! Friendly staff and the best margaritas and queso!! I also love their variety of spicy sauces.

Rusty Taco is the closest taco place in my neighborhood. Whenever I drive by around lunch or dinner time, this place gets pretty busy inside and outside. We went there for tacos (of course) this afternoon. Many kids were dining with their parents, so it must be a popular place for families. There is a very nicely-constructed patio outside with a spacious seating area. The staff is extremely nice, held the door open for us on our way in and helped clean up our table as we were leaving. We ordered a few tacos: chicken, grilled fish, and shrimp tacos, as well as the signature Rusty taco. Overall, the tacos were pretty good, not bad but not too great. Among the items we ordered, I would recommend the Rusty taco if you like spicy foods and the fried chicken taco for lots of flavor. The grilled fish and shrimp tacos were just okay. It seemed to me they reheated the seafood they had already cooked in bulk. If you're a picky seafood eater, you may not be too thrilled. One item I normally order in other taco places is some kind of bean soup, like charro beans. But they don't have any soup. I was a bit disappointed. Anyway, there are still many items on the menu, I may still come back and try. read more

Literally stopped here as a spur of the moment because we couldn't find somewhere to eat. Thankfully we were able to eat at this wonderful place! Brisket nachos are definitely worth getting! My husband had chicken tacos and I had the nachos and a shrimp taco! The shrimp taco was excellent and grilled to perfection! Queso and chips were excellent! The churro has a caramel filling and is fulfilling and delicious!! Customer service was exceptional! Compliments to the chef! Plus they had high chairs to accommodate our toddler. Only thing I didn't care for was the stools because they are a bit uncomfortable and we are tall people. Other than that due to the food being great we will definitely be returning! read more

I ordered 3 breakfast tacos on corn only to get all the way to work and find out it's flour. I don't understand how they got this incorrect as the business was not busy at all AND I even repeated the order twice. Careless and inattentive. Taste was okay I don't really see the big hype on these tacos. Maybe the lunch tacos are better. Hopefully if I order in the future my order is correct. read more

Ordered 22 tacos chips a salsa Tipped 40.00 bucks so we could get extra salsa and got home and got 3 packs of salsa. Called to ask if I could come get more salsa and was told no sorry but they are short handed. That they are closed!! So I decided to deal with it( had no choice other than to throw it away) I was hungry as hell open my foil packet and the pork was still frozen and the tacos seriously tasted like dog food. But in the pass it had always been really very good it's like they don't give a shit!! It used to be so good I used to tell everyone I know about them. But will never recommend them again. And I have probably ate there 40 times atleast!! read more

The fish tacos were absolutely delicious! The crispy thin layer of tempura you bite into right before the fish is exquisite. And the fish was so fresh and clean, so it didn't even smell fishy. Also the sauce that they topped it with perfectly balanced out the taco, leaving everything light and crisp. However, I wasn't as big a fan of the brisket taco. It was a little to heavy on the brisket and I felt that the flavor to the beef could've been a little brighter. Other than that, me and my friend had a great experience and I'm definitely going to go back their again. read more

Great breakfast tacos! Hands down! My goo to location if I wake up earlier than usually before work! Place is always clean. That bacon smell when you walk in just wakes you up. I am a chorizo girl so you know I must have chorizo egg and cheese. Brisket, egg, and cheese is flavorful! The basic potatoe, egg, cheese, and I asked them to add bacon for extra cost! Worth it! My daily favorite is beef fajita Fried chicken taco Regular pineapple fan over here! "The rusty taco!" Let me know your favorites! read more

Good food ! Great service! Always an easy experience. I love the habanero salsa!! And the breakfast burritos are my favorite!

Wow. I was under the impression R Taco would only be a go to if I was starving and without options, but I was pleasantly surprised today! I ordered the Texican Taco (traditional ground beef taco on flour) and the fried fish taco. I substituted the chipotle crema for their Baja sauce hoping it'd be less spicy. The ground beef was as good as any ground beef taco I've had. One thing I liked was it wasn't dripping in grease or saucy fluids, yet still was super flavorful. The fish in the fish taco was huge and perfectly crisp, not too bready. They only use purple cabbage FYI. I added avocado to both tacos which I recommend if you like avocado. It's 50 cents but they give you a nice size slice. The location had a cute patio space too. If you need a quick bite and are craving tacos you'll definitely find something tasty here. read more

Came here with a few friends for dinner. First off we had to wait forever to get a cashier. Not because the line was long, because the employees were too busy talking. Finally we checked out. On one taco we asked for no avacado. On another we asked for lime on the taco. 45 minutes later we get our food. There was avacado on the taco, and on the other there was lime. Solid food and fast service. All your favorite tacos (fajita, pork, brisket, fish, etc) on corn tortillas. Try the fried chicken taco, it's surprisingly good. Watch out for the frozen margarita, I'm pretty sure they cut it with everclear. It was a little rough after drinking just one. I go back here at least once a month, I would recommend it to anyone for a casual dinner. read more

TERRIBLE experience at this particular location. I had the pleasure of speaking to an older caucasian man who appeared to be the manager or supervisor when I inquired about my order. I wanted to make sure my order was correct because it was my first time there and the guy had no patience at all. He proceeded to admonish me for asking him a simple question. Then when I went to pick up my order he continued to try to argue and berate me over a misunderstanding about the tortillas and refused to hand me my food. Food wise, their tacos were less than subpar. The chicken tacos were on the bland side and unappetizing while the brisket tacos were dry and tasted like sandpaper in my mouth. Oddly enough, the meat to onion/cilantro/cheese ratio was off and there was too much meat for my liking. With that being said, I will not be coming back to this location. Rusty's, do better. read more

Had tacos delivered with Favor I was so happy that it's national taco day! I've never eaten here before but the pictures of the food looked like traditional style street tacos which I've been searching for since I moved here in April. Favor was fast as always...they arrived 20 minutes before the estimated time and only about 20 minutes after I placed the order. The tacos were still stone cold though :-( That being said: they were still tasty. I had the fajita taco, the fried chicken taco, the rusty taco, and the texican taco...the texican was absolutely stone cold so I couldn't eat all of it. The other tacos all had delicious flavor. I ordered two quesadillas for my kids but they were burned completely black so I had to give them to the dogs. Soooooo my total take is this: the flavors were so good that I plan to go in the restaurant this weekend and try them in person. Then I'll know for sure how I feel. But for now they get a solid three. read more

Great food Reasonably priced - Staff is very friendly. I like the breakfast tacos and the fajitas as well as the brisket tacos

One of my favorite taco shops in Plano, especially for how convenient, affordable and fresh all the food is. I've been primarily getting breakfast tacos, but recently had a craving for fajita tacos and was not disappointed. There aren't many places you can feed yourself and one other person for just over $10. Love the value here! read more

I tried Rusty Taco's breakfast taco right after getting a ticket dismissed at the nearby courthouse, and their delicious morning tacos put me in a better mood! I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese taco and a brisket, egg, and cheese taco. They were cheap, each less than $3, and they came out fast. When I opened the foil wrapper I was happy to see they didn't skimp on the toppings. I poured picante on these bad boys and as you can see the taste led to a five star review! I'll definitely visit again to try their lunch/dinner tacos! read more

We ho to rusty taco. I can't have corn so they will make a taco with flour tortillas. Always go to taco shop for the neighborhood.

Love this place! Plenty of long tables both inside and outside for bigger groups. Tacos are equally affordable as they are delicious. I always eye the breakfast taco options (several friends have gotten it and it always looks good), but opt for the baja shrimp and beef fajita every time. The chips and queso are also just a few bucks! When one of the staff saw that we were empty on chips, she actually went to grab us another basket. Not sure if this was common practice for them but was super awesome and nice of her. The rest of the staff, including cashiers, have always been really welcoming. read more

Big, bold, yet still humble and accessible soft tacos for a very affordable price. For an ostensibly fast-casual eatery, service at Rusty Taco was abundantly friendly. The gentleman behind the counter greeted customers by name with many returning regulars filtering through. I came here by chance waiting for a tire change on the mechanic's recommendation and was not disappointed. I enjoyed a chorus of five tacos (hardly necessary for the average eater) trying four breakfast tacos (served all day) - bacon and potato, chorizo, steak and onions, and brisket - as well as the eponymous Rusty taco made with grilled pineapple, shredded pork, and onion. Even the sauces are made in-house and food was served lightning fast. Excellent and will come again next time I'm in town. read more

Just like the other reviews mention, Rusty Taco is the same concept of taco joints like Torchy's or Velvet Taco. The big difference is the price! And Rusty's tacos are a little simpler and less creative but just as good. So underwhelming in a good way? For Example: Chips & salsa $1. They serve 13 kinds of tacos and a variety of breakfast tacos ranging anywhere from $2.20-$2.65. The tacos are the perfect size and overflowing with fresh ingredients. Counter service is fast and friendly with inside and outside picnic table seating, which is great for groups. Selling Point: Two people for under $10 (no drinks), you really can't beat that. read more

Good tacos lousy seating. The food: I've tried the Brisket Taco, Fish Taco, Roasted Pork Taco, and Rusty Taco. To me Rusty Taco is better than Fuzzy's Taco Shop but nearly as good as Torchy's Tacos. The Service: The service and management were great considering how busy they were. Friendly and prompt. The dining experience: Terrible! If you actually find a place to seat down it's going to be on a very uncomfortable (way too short) cafeteria table. Think of an elementary school cafeteria from the 70's and 80's. read more

This is our favorite go to casual place!! My favorite is the #11 Barbecue Brisket Taco!! Great food at a great price!!

This place is now called R Tacos, a friend told me they changed the name because the owner died. I went with a few vegetarians, and there are two options on the menu that cater to them: the Rajas and the Black Bean. I tried both without cheese and they were actually really good, although I was skeptical about the roasted pumpkin seeds in the Rajas. I definitely suggest both! There were some pretty cool tidbits, such as $1 for a heaping portion of chips and red salsa. They also have three types of homemade salsa: a mild green, a medium red, and a fiery habanero sauce. The habanero was really sweet and super delicious, and tastes great on all the tacos. They also have some interesting desserts, such as a fried Apple taco that I wish I had tried but I'll definitely be back for! read more

A staple for north Plano. It's a very unassuming place run by a great guy. The staff is always friendly, the food is always good and they PILE ON their ingredients. The breakfast tacos especially are PACKED. tacos run $2 to $2.50 and ya can't beat em for the price. Some of my favs are the brisket, fried chicken, shrimp and fish. This place gets PACKED during rush hour so come early or take em home (we do that a lot). You can't go wrong here. Trust me. read more
