This grill is one of the most healthiest places to eat in the uptown. they serve a lot of vegetarian dishes which are great tasting. I recommend the Fatoush Salad or the Veggie Burger for all veggies like me. read more

Ate here last night after reading good reviews and seeing this was a byob spot. When we were seated we were immediately told they have not been byob for 4 years. Waiter seemed to chuckle at our error. Decided to make the best of it and try this place anyway. Ordered a bottle of wine and some appetizers. For having been there so long the waiter seemed to know nothing about the menu and was very inattentive. Noticed the crowd was older for a Friday night, more of a cafe style restaurant than I had thought. Food was mediocre, "pita bread" served w hummus was more like tortilla triangles. Hummus was good, Tabouleh average. Ordered brie appetizer as well and it was ok. $60 tab, below average experience, won't go back! read more

Not a good place to eat ! Me and my wife went there and we order a pica and a wrapped filet mignon with bacon we wait 45 minutes for the food to come out and guess what ? My boyfriend, son and I stopped here today. I got an off vibe upon walking into this place. I almost felt out of place by the many looks we got. Originally we wanted to sit outside but it was a rainy day so my boyfriend changed his mind. I don't mind the rain plus Mezze Grill has a covered patio. The host for some reason suggested we sit in the Lounge area away from the other diners. I wanted to sit with everyone else but we ended up in the Lounge area. Once on the Lounge side, I realized this side was more pleasing to the eye in my opinion. One of the paintings in their was terrible and ugly (you can see it in my video post). Later we found out the paintings are for sell. Definitely come with a full wallet because this place is on the pricey side. The food was fantastic and for a Yelp check in you get a free dessert. Our server Nancy was great as well. I thought she was very pleasant. Nancy also speaks three languages; Chinese (mother tongue), Russain and English. I went for the most reviewed about entree, the stuffed mango chicken and am glad that I ordered it. Although a bit pricey at ~$25, it was worth it. In order to share, they charge a $5 splitting fee, but they put more in the portion as it is not entirely just a half of the entree. The breading was crisped to perfection and I enjoyed every taste of it along with the scalloped potatoes. The waitress was really attentive to our group of 7 girls celebrating a birthday dinner. The pita chips are addicting! I could not stop eating them. They even split our check which was convenient. read more

Came here on a Thursday night with wife and friends. Place was empty which was surprising because its a pretty cool concept. Service was good but the food was just ok. I had the lamb shank and it was tender but could've used more flavor. My wife had the shish tawook which she loved but everybody else's food was just meh. Only thing about service was my friends brought their newborn in a stroller parked next to our booth and servers would just push the stroller up and down to get to us without even asking, we were the last booth in the restaurant so they didn't need to come our way unless they were bringing us something. Your visit to Cafe Mezza will start off with an addicting dish of pita chips accompanied by a wonderful mixture of olive oil and herbs. The two entrees that I have enjoyed include the Grilled Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo and the Lemon Butter Chicken Pasta. Both entrees arrived at the table fresh from the stove and were almost too hot to taste. The seasoning used in both dishes was imaginative and well balanced. Everything was well prepared and the portions were on the large size, especially with the chicken entree. The service is attentive in that they pace the arrival of the dishes based upon the cues that you give them. If you desire to relax, they will handle that while if you want to move the service along, that is also possible. This is some of the best Mediterranean food that I have encountered. I have been a regular customer here for many, many years. I'm sad to report that the entire staff chose to not wear masks. No protection at all when handling my food. Bartenders, waitstaff, cooks, managers- not one of them! They were making a statement, for sure. But the worst part was that the owner came over to lecture my friend and me about how masks do nothing to keep anyone well (incorrect statement) angloves are disgusting, blah blah blah for over 5 minutes. He was almost yelling at us (loud), very condescending. He said "I gave the employees the option to wear a mask, and they decided not to. If you don't like this..." and he fell short of saying "THEN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO EAT!" It was his attitude that made us decide to never go back there, and to spread the word. Just walked out of one of my favorite Galleria meals EVER! Leo was a perfect server, and my husband and I enjoyed relaxing out on the patio--just what I needed this evening. Very good overall experience. Atmosphere is nice and they do a very good job of adding an American touch to Middle Eastern dishes. I generally prefer middle eastern food to be as authentic as possible but I still really enjoyed the meal here. Portion is huge although the price was higher compared to other middle eastern place with almost the same quality and taste - the size of the mango chicken my friend ordered can be used to prop open a medium weighted door. I myself ordered the pecan crusted salmon. It caught my eyed since it came with wild mushroom risotto and it came out exactly like I predicted: the salmon was just ok, the mango salsa surprisingly worked out pretty well, but boy that risotto was so good and creamy. read more

I can't begin to say enough good things about this restaurant. The food was so good, hot, served quickly enough, and huge portions. I ordered the lemon butter chicken pasta, and it was excellent. The chicken was moist, breaded lightly, and had so much flavor. My husband ordered the bacon wrapped filet with Caesar salad and scalloped potatoes. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly medium as requested. The salad was tasty and the potatoes were super delicious. We also ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer which was so fresh tasting, and again a large potion. Easily enough for 3-4 people to share. Service was excellent, our waiter checked in on us regularly and even offered menu suggestions. If in this area again I will not hesitate to come back to Mezza Grill. read more

I wanted a nice, romantic dinner for my boyfriends birthday. Mezza Grille was the PERFECT option. It was quiet, the service was great, and the food was amazing! the food was not good here. i had the pesto pasta with chicken apple sausage. the sausage was so salty it was INEDIBLE. i was raised to clean my plate no matter what and i literally could not eat that sausage because the salt made me feel like my eyes were about to explode out of my head. when the waiter came by and asked how everything was, i let him know how salty the sausage was. his response was "oh, well that's one of the few things that we don't actually make here in the restaurant" and walked away. My hubby had the pecan crusted salmon salad. his was edible but not special. It arrived at the table in what I'm hoping was a puddle of juices from the mango and not butter. Be warned it is HUGE. Share it with someone or be prepared to take it home. Dear Fellow Houston Yelpers, After reading all your reviews, I was ecstatic to finally get a chance to come here so I can get the same experience as all of you and continue to share that with others. Unfortunately, there were way more unenjoyable moments with the food than we expected. The complimentary pita chips were OK, the olive oil sauce would go really well with bread. The tea was diluted because the machine was not working properly but the water tasted good. The staff did a good job with the water refills, they were really attentive. We ordered the buttered chicken and the peppered ahi tuna with a lobster bisque and a mezza salad. The bisque and the salad were a good combination by themselves. The salad was crispy, cool and refreshing while the bisque was soulful and fulfilling. Where do I even start with the buttered chicken and ahi tuna? The dishes seems to be decent when they came out but we were overwhelmed with the amount of the rich buttered caper sauce served in both meals. The entrees had so many capers you couldn't just have a a capers-free bite and it just became difficult to eat. The shrimp that came with the ahi tuna tasted fishy, I tried mixing it in the butter sauce but the fish stench intensified. The veggies were good but they were also cooked in a lot of butter and oil. The concept of the dishes are unique and different but not in a good way, definitely not worth $20-$40 an entree. The service was good and the setting was comfortable. Overall, the restaurant has the potential to be better but I don't see myself coming back here again. I was disappointed in my meal and experience at this restaurant. While the waiter was nice, the overall service was extremely slow. We waited for our food for over 40min. I got the lemon butter fish and shrimp. Both items and their seasoning were extremely salty. The only upside were the au-gratin potatoes. I will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

Chose this place for my girlfriend's birthday celebration. We had a party of 20-25 people. Most of our party was late so they canceled our private room and put us on the floor which was understandable...we shouldn't have been late. However, we only had one waiter to service 20 people and he was absolutely horrible. He rarely checked on us and we had to flag him down multiple times. The manager should have had him assigned to us and maybe one other table. I think the service sucked really bad that night and did not like our waiter at all. However, the food was excellent!! I think only one person in our group of 20 did not like his dish...and he's a picky eater so that wasn't a surprise. I definitely recommend the food here!! If you have a big group for dinner, just be aware that you might receive sub-par service. read more
