This was our first food stop when we arrived to Cancun, it was at a walking distance from our hotel and someone from the close by shops recommended this place. It isn't authentic Mexican food, it more of Mexican-American food or as we call it in Texas Tex-Mex food. On the bucket list of things to do in Cancun was to eat a REAL MEXICAN BURRITO from Mexico!! While in the downtown area, this spot stuck out in an area which was already vibrant. Outside seating, outside bar (with great seats which give the appearance that you are sitting down in only a thong) were all inviting. We chose to eat inside.....air conditioner, hello!) I went straight to a steak burrito which did not disappoint at all. I expected a bigger burrito but it was actually on point. Another plus, was the commonality of guacamole which was as common as butter here in the US. Some adult beverages along with great staff, authentic Mexican decorations made our visit both memorable and anticipated on our next visit!! During our stay there, an iguanas made its way into the restaurant, it was entertaining watching the staff fumble around trying time catch the wondering reptile. Lol. It all ended well and the while the iguana was redirected back into its natural habitat. read more

I LOVED THEIR NACHOS. We had a mixture of meats it was delicious. Also the environment was super friendly and fun. Have a beef while you at it. I think it's the best restaurant I've been in Cancun. Had the Cochinita Pibil...anytime I see that on a menu at a restaurant I have to order it. It was awesome - one of the best I have ever had. 5 stars. I gave the restaurant 3 stars though because the outside patio is literally next to the main street and with a bus stop right in front...so is noisy and busy and def is a tourist trap type spot. Went with my family and they mostly had tacos. The Al Pastor was really disappointing. The rest of the food was good. Food prices were okay, drink prices were really high. If you are looking for a party atmosphere dinner, this is all you. Waiters stack 5 drinks on top of their head and bring them like that to your table. There are constant floor shows and stuff going on. Is kinda like a show. The restaurant is conveniently located in the hotel zone. However, the food was very bland. The guacamole made to order needed salt, lime, or just flavor period. My chicken enchiladas had a watery tomato sauce and I just ate it because I was hungry. My partner ordered the chicken fajitas which were unseasoned. We went here on the very first evening in Cancun. It's quite close to where we were staying in the hotel zone and it's right across the street from the Convention Center. There's also an ATM nearby, if you want to withdraw pesos and a Mexican Outlet gift shop for souvenirs/ water bottles/ mosquito spray etc. Food in Mextreme was fine. We tried Sopa de lima, Guacamole and a Chicken entree that had chocolate in the gravy. The entree was a strange mix of bitter, sweet and spicy that tasted a bit unfamiliar to me. We were seated outdoors. There was a band of musicians playing right behind, but the music was too loud and drowning our conversation. Our group was pretty big(~8 people) and they took a very long time to get us food and then bring us our checks. This was despite requesting for it. There was also some confusion in how certain items were billed on our checks but our server corrected it immediately. He was trying to entertain people and he was quite friendly. But I feel we had to wait too long to finish the meal. read more

Like many others stated it is a tourist environment complete with the servers delivering drinks stacked on their heads, very impressive when they go there or four high. My friends and I decided to eat here at 11pm. This place wasn't too crowded and I thought the ambiance was Mexican inspired. They were fine with us walking in with our own beers. I shared a ceviche and meat platter with my friend. The meat grill came with steak, chicken, shrimp, sausage, green peppers, onions, and a grilled serrano chili pepper with a Scoville heat index of up to 25,000! Keep in mind, a jalapeño only has a heat index of 2000-5000. My friend and I split the pepper in half, unaware that it was a serrano pepper. The subsequent events that occurred involved a lot of tears. The heat slowly creeped up on me and I didn't know when it was going to stop increasing. I normally can handle spicy food, but this is a whole other level of spiciness. The server laughed at us and gave us a plate of sugar to cool the heat down. My friends did not believe us and thought we were overreacting so they asked the server to bring out a couple of more serrano peppers to try. And they learned the hard way as well. My friends also tried tacos, guacamole, etc., which they thought were delicious. The ceviche that I got had the perfect amount of savoriness and acidity. The avocado also balances the acidity. I definitely recommend this place for those that are around the area! They also offer a 15% discount if you check in on yelp! read more

This place is awesome! We only left our hotel to eat out on one night of our holidays and I'm so glad we stumbled across this place!! Not only is the atmosphere brilliant with bright Mexican colours, live music and cheerful staff but the food was unreal - so tasty and exactly what you expect from a traditional Mexican restaurant!! The food and alcohol was surprisingly cheap and the portion sizes where massive! If I ever go back to cancun (which I hope I will) I will most definitely be coming back here!! read more

I'm allergic to shrimp but once in a while I have a craving for them and I ordered their shrimp, it was like butter and garlic. I was expecting a great meal based on its rating but it did not come close. The two star rating is for the food. The service from our waiter Aldo was good. To start off the tortilla chips taste like they were made the day before and sat outside all day; that's how stale they were. I ordered the Enmoladas and my wife and daughter ordered the Fajitas mix plate of shrimp and steak. So after about 15 minutes a different waiter walks over to advise me that the kitchen does not have all the ingredients to prepare the Enmoladas. I decided to just order a Mexican platter appetizer. The shrimp was over cooked and had a rubber texture. The steak was bland and chewy. As for the Mexican platter, nothing is worth mentioning. The food had no taste and was just bad. Initially when we walked by the night prior to giving it a try; it looked like a fun place with good food. It is probably a place to drink and have fun but I would skip the food. Oh and do not bother filling out their survey and being honest about your experience. They kept asking why we did not like the food and when tried to explain they got very defensive and made us feel like we prepared the bad food. read more

So I ordered two things here. First the stuffed fish with seafood in white sauce which was amazing. The reason I gave this place 3 stars is for two reasons. The second item I ordered is the shrimp tacos. There waay too much tomato sauce on them. Also the tortillas were cold. We pointed this out to the waiter and he said it was our fault. (Made no sense). Finally after some fuss they took the tacos back and heated up the tortillas. Other than the rude service and the cold tortillas, the place had an upbeat environment with good music. While vacationing in Cancun two weeks ago, decided to stop here for some "real" mexican food. Oh boy!!! Horrible can't even begin to describe my experience. First off, we ordered pina coladas which were low on liquir and super watered down. Second, we order guac with chips which they charged extra to make table side and we were so excited to have and for no reason because I landed up having to add salt do to lack of taste. Lastly, I ordered skirt steak that came to the table slimey and soft like liver. Not sure if that's the Mexican was to have it but being that I'm not a liver person and it just didn't look good, the moment I tasted it felt like I was chewing on seasoned flan YUCK! The best part of this restaurant is that everytime you order a drink they carry the cups on their heads and do a little dance performance. I had the enchiladas and the special guacamole that they make tableside. Both delicious!
