My group and I stopped here while on a week long vacation in Cancun. We stay on a resort nearby and go out to eat every night and this place is a must stop every year. We loved it so much, we ended up here twice in the same week. The service is outstanding here and you can tell they pride themselves on customer service. Before the meal, they do drop off bread with dipping sauces, garlic, and butter. The perfect appetizer. One reason I love this place is the salads. They are big enough for split for 2 and I don't think you can go wrong with any of the options. Personally, the cesar salad is my favorite. What I love about this salad, is they make the dressing right in front of you. Definitely a cool and unique experience. The first time, I ordered the tuna steak. It comes with a soy sauce and a garlic butter. These two sauces on the tuna makes for an incredible meal. I cannot say enough good things about this entree! The second night we went my boyfriend and I split the Cesar salad and the skirt steak. We also added on a side of mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. The whole meal was delicious. I couldn't pick a favorite part because everything tasted so good. Splitting this was the perfect meal for two people and we even had a bit left over to snack on the next day. We had dinner at Puerto during our recent trip to Cancun. It was easy to book reservations online, and we were seated promptly. Our outdoor table overlooked the lagún at sunset. It was absolutely breathtaking. Our server was knowledgeable regarding all dishes; he brought actual cuts of meat and seafood to the table to show us before we ordered so we would know what we were getting. I had a tamarinda margarita which was delicious. My husband and I shared some crispy truffle fries. For my entree, I had the whitefish, which was cooked perfectly and served on a bed of mashed potatoes. I wasn't able to finish everything because the portions were generous. This was our third time to Puerto Madero. We always try to make a stop in here when we are visiting Cancun. This time we happen to be celebrating my daughter's birthday. The service was excellent and fast. The ambience is beautiful and we went around sunset and got a beautiful view. The food was excellent, my only complaint is that the steaks were a little fatty. The interior is spacious, modern, clean and nice. Surprisedly when we went during dinner, it wasn't busy at all and we made a reservation. They have nice views of the outside. This spot is great for special occasions and for big groups. The service here is really good and the workers were friendly. The food here is on the pricier side. Delicious meal with amazing service from Gaspar! Food I can't remember which option we chose, but it was the to share ribeye central cut without the bone. Gaspar said without the bone is better than with the bone. It was sooooo good. It came with 2 sauces and I didn't even need to use them. It also came with grilled onions and cactus. Fantastic, I would order again. It came out a bit more medium rare than I would have eaten it, but you can just keep it on the pan, and it will cook more. We also got the cheese to start. It was good, but I would try something different next time. It comes with a tomato sauce on top and 4 pieces. It was my birthday so they gave us a birthday chocolate molten cake with ice cream which they said is their #1 dessert. Service Gaspar was fantastic! Wait staff was very attentive, as I sampled the sauces at the table our waiter kindly brought out a bottle of A1 steak sauce. Although the steak was well seasoned and didn't require a sauce. Hubby loved his baked potato but the toppings had an unfamiliar taste for me. For dessert we shared the trio sorbet and that was a good choice. My friend and I were truly interested in the overall menu and almost wanted to order everything. The table next to us had a steak for four people that smell delicious. I come to this restaurant every time I visit Cancun. The food is amazing, the quality is spectacular, the restaurant is absolutely stunning, and the service is out of this world. I would highly recommend that you would go during sunset. The way the restaurant is situated is that you look over the bay, so you get a really great view of the sun setting. If the weather is nice enough, sit outside. But even inside you still get a great view because the back wall is all glass. This is probably the nicest restaurant you'll go to in Cancun. Likely one of the most expensive ones also, but don't let that scare you or steer you away. Expensive in Mexico is still cheap in US. The level of attention that you receive is like nothing I've ever experienced. I think I had anywhere from 3 to 4 different servers waiting on me at any time. And lest we forget about the food: it is one of the best steak houses I have ever been to all of the food is delicious. The drinks and Cocktails are exquisite. The wine menu is elevated and scrumptious. Moral of the story is, if you don't get to this restaurant, then what are you even doing? Leave the resort and go here read more

Annual trip to Cancun and for my birthday dinner this year, someone recommended Puerto Madero. I've got to say, this is one of the best meals we've had in Cancun. Beautiful setting on the edge of the patio at sunset, couldn't have been better. Service was your typical attentive and friendly Cancun service I've come to appreciate. I had the New York Strip, comes with a side of peppers/onions on the skillet. Cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. My wife had the Salmon which you can see from the photo was also juicy and flavorful. It's so easy to overcook salmon and this was just the opposite. We shared a baked potato, mashed potatoes, wedge salad, and was talked into the empanadas. Don't skip on those, they are amazing. My significant other found this restaurant and thought it looked like Jeff Ruby's in Nashville so he was adamant that we should have dinner here. We made reservations on OpenTable. They have complimentary valet. They had 2 servers helping us so they were super attentive the whole time. We had a glass of wine each, the skirt steak, wagyu burger and flight of dessert. The wagyu burger was massive and they even topped it with a slider on top. The skirt steak was very juicy and a massive portion. The flight of dessert was just ok. I would personally skip it. We were looking for a good recommendation for dinner while on our work trip and a concierge was absolutely raving about this place! And she was right to rave! From start to finish we enjoyed a lovely dining experience that really impacted all the senses. The ambient light when you walk in is warm and inviting! We ate several things--white fish, ribeye, surf n turf, king crab tortellini and fettuccine ragout. Also had a few appetizers; oysters, garlic shrimp and provoleta cheese. Everything was soooooo good! Cocktails were incredible too! Atmosphere is awesome--excellent music, super clean, soft lighting and fabulous service!!! We ended up here because it was walking distance from our hotel, and they were able to seat us without a reservation. This is a beautiful place overlooking the Marina, can only imagine if we were early enough for sunset. Our lead waiter Jose was excellent and my husband especially enjoyed his conversation with him. He was like a conductor orchestrating a perfect event / meal for us with his supporting staff. The training at this place is over the top, my spouse and I grew up in the restaurant business and it was crystal clear Puerto Madero is constantly reaching for the star! From adjusting the ceiling fan speed, to refreshed linens / plates at the appropriate time - you feel like royalty but not like you're being pestered. Food: (1) Lobster bisque delicious, rich and so clean tasting. Unique approach with a small slice of lobster meat set atop a bread stick, and topped off with a pinch of caviar. (2) Surf and Turf: FANTASTIC - filets, medium and medium rare and prepared to perfection. Fresh potatoes, deliciously sweet lobster tail, and asparagus - all wonderful. (3) Creme Brulee: They get it! Small, shallow ramekin, lots of surface area to revel in the caramelized finish. Other places go deep on the ramekin - totalling missing the point of this dish. Puerto Madero is the definition of 'swanky vacation dinner'. You can indulge in high end steak and seafood while imbibing on fancy libations. The restaurant is right on the bay, so if you time your visit correctly you can do this all while watching the sunset. A reservation is needed. We were in for an early dinner because we wanted to catch the sunset, but by the time we left at around 8 there was a wait to get in, and every table was filled. The bread basket is elegant and comes with a variety of rolls, garlic butter and various dipping sauces. We also started off with a sizzling tray of flamed grilled veggies and empanadas. I'm here for the solo empanada order. I'd kick off every meal with an empanada if I could. This empanada did not disappoint and was filled with tasty seasoned meat. For my main I ordered seafood pasta. Unfortunately this dish was a little lackluster. The bowl came with so much spaghetti and a small amount of seafood. The calamari and scallops were also a bit rubbery. Looking back, I was probably better off ordering a piece of fish or meat. Towards the end of the night service also slowed down a lot, which made sense given the crowd. It took us a while to flag down our server and settle the bill. It's also vacation though, so no rush! And we also had a dessert sampler to keep us occupied. The sampler comes with four different mini desserts -- a great option if you are having a tough time choosing! I had to track down the waiter to get the check. The background music selection was unfortunately heavy into1980's Michael Jackson but was mostly drowned out by very loud techno music from next door. At this price level I think a table cloth would be appropriate versus vinyl placemats. Overall a disappointing evening. read more

Everything is amazing starting with when you walk in. The person working the hostess desk had urgency (sometimes that can be hard in Cancun), and confirmed where we wanted to sit (we reserved on Open Table). Once sat, we had a drink within minutes. After a long day at Isle Mujeres. We were exhausted and hungry. Wearing shorts, T-shirt, and flip flops, we were surprise that the sat us down. First, the service is excellent. We had Jose Luis- great waiter. His assistants were attentive as well. Menu is extensive. Steak selection is great- they bring out the sample of steaks they have. We got multiple types but truly enjoyed the bone in rib eye/ cooked to perfection. Must get the soufflé potatoes- uniques French fries. The sea bass is cooked and glazed perfectly with shitake mushroom. Seafood spaghetti as a fit with the kids. They also cooked off the menu a pasta dish for one of the kids. Only thing that was ok was the oysters. But fish tartar is amazing. Bread service is awesome. Empanda is delicious. Make sure you make room for desserts- all are great. Highly recommend this place.
