I got the Proveletta, a cheese dish with some herbs on top, served with toasty bread pieces. The steaks were rib eyes, served with chimmichurri sauce. Double nom! The meat was cooked perfectly, and their sauce was right on. The service was on point- they made sure our glasses never went empty, answered all our questions about the ingredients and the food. The first thing we noticed was how beautifully decorated the entire restaurant was! We were instantly greeted and sat with menu's. We started off with some drinks. Lexi got the strawberry margarita and I got a Stella Artois. For appetizers, we tried the calamari and the soufflé potatoes. The soufflé potatoes were nice light and airy. The calamari had a much thicker and crunchier breading than I expect for calamari, and It was also a bit rubbery. We shared the cream spinach that pulled the meal together. I ordered the ribeye steak and my fiancée ordered the churrasco borh had a good char but mine seemed a bit undercooked in some spots, but both were still delicious. all the sauces that came with the steaks were super tasty. Had an amazing dining experience here! From the second we walked in, the service was fantastic. They brought out an assortment of breads with butter and sauces for the meat. To start, we ordered chorizo which came with a side salad and tasted great. For our main we both split the large portion of steak and the potato puffs which they are known for. German Bacilio was our waiter and he was amazing! This was some of the best service we've ever had, along with the steak! It had such great flavors and didn't even need the sauces, but the sauces made it even better. We ordered the Australian Wagyu at two places in Cancun. This was not the one that melted in my mouth like butter. The service, as with most places in Cancun, is above average. Multiple table side cooking options on the menu, which were a blast. Ambiance was nice but does pale in comparison to some of the other high end steakhouses. Others have live shows and bands walking around the restaurant with energetic staff. You will get a quieter meal here. 10% discount for staying at the Westin was appreciated. read more

Then we had some empanada spicy meat appetizers, which were absolutely good. I had the short ribs, my main entrée, and it was excellent. My girlfriend had the salmon with vegetables, and she absolutely loved it. The short rib was made to perfection. Every single bite was exceptionally well. Cambalache provided us an absolutely amazing dining experience while in Cancun! A friend of ours recommended it, the Yelp reviews solidified it, and our experience confirmed it! It was easy to make a same-day reservation on Open Table, and we were seated right away. Our waiter was friendly and personable and really took care of us the entire time. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, lots of glass and shiny wood. My husband got the table side drink- I can't recall the name, but it had a gin base. The presentation was super fun and he said the drink was very tasty. I got a Paloma, and it was perfect. We decided to splurge and get appetizers, soup, salad, entree and dessert- yes, we were being gluttons lol. We both got the empanadas, and they were heavenly. The pastry outside was perfectly cooked- soft yet not soggy, and the filling was delicious. I got the shrimp soup, while my husband got the caprese salad. Both were lovely. My soup was prepared tableside and had plenty of shrimp and wasn't overpowered by the spice. We decided to get the ribeye for 2, as well as creamed spinach and a baked potato for our entree. The sides weren't too memorable, but the steak was fantastic. I will warn that it was cooked a little under(we ordered medium rare, and it was definitely closer to rare). It is served on a hot plate that continues cooking it for a little while, so that helped some. The dessert menu wasn't especially remarkable, and we probably should have skipped dessert, but we ended up getting the caramel crepes. That was really the only misstep of the night. The filling was very thick and overly sweet. All in all, it was a lovely restaurant and a fantastic meal. 4.5 stars, rounded up because we went twice during our trip to Cancun. So, like my title sentence says, we ended up going here twice because our first dinner was so incredibly amazing that we had to come back. Spoiler for the longer review: the second night was good but not 'we have to come back good', so if we reversed the evenings we may not have been so obsessed. Night one, their special dishes (chefs selection) were the short rib, lamb, and suckling pig. These are served on a sizzling hot plate and have enough for two people. Instead of trying a special, we wanted a steak so went with the ribeye (again, enough for two people and so freaking good it was insane!). In addition, we got the crispy tuna (skip, too dry), spicy meat empanada (amazing, great flavor), suckling pig taco (because i wanted to at least try a special and the meat was very very soft and well flavored), and garlic mushrooms (yummy and super saucy). It ended up being so much that we could not finish and took the crispy tuna to go. Our server was so sweet and knowledgeable and attentive. This was truly a magnificent meal and came out to ~$80 pp. We rolled outta there night one and wanted to come back because we wanted to try the lamb and a carpaccio! Night two, still wonderful, a little busier even though we went later like 8:30pm on a Sunday, and had the same server. He was a little busier this time and we ended up sitting there for quite a while between drinks and taking food orders. It's all good though, just a little slower. We ordered the beef carpaccio (I absolutely loved it. Super large chunks of parmesan when i expected savings, really great flavor, just 10/10), a watercress salad (honestly lovely, glad i got it with cheese, they added a lot though and lots of dressing which made it delicious just more oil than leaves haha), and the lamb. Well, unfortunately after we ordered and got the first starter, our server came back and broke the news that they had already served the last order of lamb and were out of the suckling pig as well. Ok, not ideal but we went with the short rib. This is where, it was ok like really good, but not amazing. And because it took a while between every stage, we ended up sitting there for more time than eating. It still was a lovely lovely meal. Just not as 'oh my gosh we have to come back'. Really cool drinks and desserts made table side (a small selection out of their vast menu). This place was far and away better than the restaurants at the resort (which still was good for its price and options). It looked like there were tons of tourists and locals here. A little fancier than casual, and just great cooking. We did order two more spicy empanadas to go for our brunch the next morning. Oh and i can't forget the chimichurri was amazing!! Took friends here who haven't been to Cancun in a long time. My husband is from Argentina and we've always heard good things about it. The restaurant is on the top floor. The ambiance is really nice and upscale but with a casual fun feel. The food was good and not too expensive considering the quality. We ordered milanesa which is pretty comm in Argentina. We also ordered salads and they are for two. They prepared the Caesar salad from scratch and it was impressive. Got the blue cheese salad too and it came on two separate plates, one for each. We had so much food that we all took to go bags. Leftovers were for lunch the next day and just as good The service though is very impressive. We had 3 servers taking care of us. Our first course was octopus carpaccio and sweet breads. When our server Alberto "Frenched" the apps and served the ladies first, I knew this place was special. Our main was Grilled Octopus, Porterhouse and Grilled Vegetables. All three over the top delicious and well prepared. The Octopus was braised to perfection and the char carried it to the next lever. Every time we are in Cancun (at least 1x/year since 1995), we come to Cambalache for a nice steak dinner. And we always recommend to friends and family who visit Cancun. Normally I would give them 5 stars, but the food this time (late September 2022) was not up to par. Unfortunately, we were with friends who were treating us to dinner. Their ribeye steak for two and my 6 Oz tenderloin was delivered very rare. We ordered medium rare. Both had to go back for additional cooking. My husband's ribeye was a little less than medium rare, but he was fine with that. He said his steak was not nearly as flavorful as in past visits. The salads and puffed potatoes were good. It seems that the meat and kitchen quality has slipped, but prices have increased quite a bit. I will say that their service staff and the environment was high quality as always. We were planning to go twice, but because of this experience, we opted to try a different place. That all said, I am sure we will give them another chance next time we visit Cancun. read more

What a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful location! Right in front of La Isla Mall. You can't miss it (directly across the street from the Westin LagunaMar Resort). The restaurant is absolutely stunning inside. Floor to ceiling windows so you can see everything going on outside. It's our last night and we're just trying to spend all our pesos before getting on a plane in the morning and we're so glad we came here for their steaks. Their steaks...perfectly seared and so tender. I had a giant baked potato with mine and wifey had mashed potatoes. Oh! I forgot the appetizers! We had the 5 cheese empanadas and the beef carpaccio. Delicious!! Their fresh assorted bread service was a yummy start too. Drinks...we can't remember bcuz we had several. You won't be disappointed. Everything we ordered was yummy. We had Caesar salad, surf and turf and flambéd crepes. The steak was not as tender as I would have liked. Second night we had the cambalachi salad which was excellent, followed by the whole snapper. The snapper was ok... kind of a novelty. This is a pricey restaurant and you expect the service and food to be top notch. The first night we had a family next to us with children playing video games with the volume turned up. This in my view is unacceptable for a fine dining establishment. We complained to our waiter but there was no interest in intervening. This ruined a great dining experience for us. Would we go back?
