Excellent combo of lobster and fish dinner. Very juicy and tender, grilled perfectly right. The flan is also very good.

The lobster and fish dinner is very juicy. Grilled perfectly right. I enjoy it very much and will come back. It's hard to have seafood cooked so perfectly timed.

Great food and very friendly host/server! Highly recommend if you're ever in the area.

Staying nearby I thought this would be the perfect place for lunch but I didn't really have the amazing experience like others rave about in previous reviews. At first I didn't have cash and they're cash only so I had to run to the atm. When I came back I was the only customer. The place right next door was packed. I was greeted with chips and salsa. That was my favorite part of the meal. For lunch I ordered the enchiladas verdes. I didn't find them to be very good. Although a large portion, they were flavorless. Especially the rice and beans. I didn't want to waste food or money so I tried to eat most of my plate but I just couldn't. After I paid, I gave a tip and he put it in his pocket and walked away. I wasn't thanked. It's a small space and again I was the only customer. It felt very impersonal. I probably should have followed the crowd and went next door.

Delicious food at excellent prices! Felipe is great and took very good care of us. We had the shrimp fajitas & steak filet. Food was deliciously seasoned to perfection and the portions were generous. Seating is outdoors only and they only take cash. The meal came out to much less than I was expecting! Very affordable for the Hotel Zone area. We cannot wait to go again! Bravo Calypso's and Señor Felipe.

Unassuming cafe that looks and feels like a beach dive but just off the Kukulcan drag. The owner Felipe is proud of his food served and he should be--the solid selection of seafood is modestly priced and fresh. I chose the Sopa Supremo that featured fish, shell on prawns, squid, octopus, lobster and stone crab claws. The flavor of the broth--the heart of the soup, was complex and clean. Like he gathered the drippings from steaming or blanching all the seafood. But the seafood tasted like it have been hanging out the the heat of the soup a touch too long. If the proteins had been shocked in an ice bath they would be firmer. Nevertheless, the casual delivery matched with bodacious flavor was enough to satisfy for lunch. Complimentary basket of tortilla chips with salsa habanero, salsa guacamole and pics de Gallo rounded off the meal. Rock on! Felipe--represent!

The food was amazing, a bit overpriced. For it being outdoor seating but can't complain about the food and service. I found this spot on yelp. We had the parrillada (enough for two people) that came with the lobster, shrimp, fish, calamari, and mussels It also comes with rice, steamed veggies and warm tortillas. Let me tell you it did not disappoint! They also gave us a complimentary tequila shot at the end. I was going to leave a tip but then once I checked the tab, they had already included in there.

Excellent food. We had the fish tacos and the shrimp ceviche. I prefer cabbage on my fish tacos and wish you could choose, but the seafood was amazing. Super fresh. The guacamole was also tasty. Service was terrific. I also like the ambience of the cafe and the outdoor seating.

Was recommended by a local to come here; we enjoyed ourselves, and I noticed it is equal parts local and touristy at the same time. Small outdoor seating only, kind of hard to find this place if you don't know what you are looking for! All the staff is great, the decor and set up is nice and cozy, prices are good, they even gave us a free shot of tequila with our meal! The reason for the 3star rate is the quality of the food; sort of run-of-the-mill food that you could get at any local place, and the cheese in the quesadillas was still cold/not melted. Still tasted good. And although our group was not personally offended by this, the server/manager(?) was goofing around with some of the tourist tables and somehow ended up flashing an unmentionable sex toy from under his apron as a practical joke, which cracked everyone up. But I can image the outrage of some tourist parents coming here and seeing that with their children, luckily it was all adults that night! Overall, if you're looking for authentic Mexican at a good price with cheap drinks, with a fun and laidback atmosphere, come here.

Felipe is the man! When I took a bite of his mahi mahi and grouper fish tacos, I knew I had finally arrived in Cancun. That was my first day and I have not had it's equal for 8 days. I am on my way there now for some more before I leave. Felipe speaks English well and is proud of his little restaurant. His uncle served us and he told us his other uncle was upstairs cooking. Family business . I felt like we were old friends. My only regret is wasting my time trying to find a better fish taco. Note the grill marks on the fish and the healthy dollop of guac.

This outdoor cafe style restaurant was just a short walking distance from our hotel which is nestled within the "hotel zone" of Cancun. We had read good Yelp reviews on this place and made a point of visiting here as one of our first places to try at the beginning of our vacation. We were quickly and warmly greeted by one of the servers who stood by hoping and waiting for customers to cross a path with their place of business. I felt like an appreciated patron to say the least. I immediately ordered a blended mango margarita and Joe K got a Mojito, as we scanned the menus. Of all the delicious looking selections offered, I ordered the 2 fish and 2 shrimp taco plate which included a side of tarter sauce, limes and guacamole to add to your food if desired. Joe got a similar meal, but had 2 lobster and 2 shrimp tacos. On a side note observation, I found it interesting that the kitchen is located up on the second floor, so they have to use a spiral staircase to bring the food down to the dining area. I guess they have to be in good physical shape to go up and down those stairs, not to mention balancing trays of food! Our food arrived freshly prepared and looking very appetizing. While Joe didn't think his food was as flavorful as it could have been, I did enjoy the shrimp and a sample of his lobster tacos. However, the fish was not cooked enough for me and I just couldn't eat them. Joe managed to help eat those for me. Basically the majority of our meal was satisfactory. I really liked that they even gave me a free refill of my drink! That was mainly because they had extra margarita still left in the blender. But that extra touch was noticed by me and made me appreciate this place even more! Most places would probably charge you extra for another drink! Just like most of the Cancun eateries, there is a relaxed and "enjoy your meal" atmosphere. You have to ask for your check when you are ready or they will let you hang out all day if you want to!

Raining in Cancun today. Asked if we get delivery to the Riu Cancun. They obliged! So happy! Food was phenomenal! We got the grilled seafood platter and some nachos. I would like to have gone to eat at their place, if it weren't for the rain. We will keep coming back!

I would've liked the actual meat of the fish to be more tender (it bordered on overcooked) but still I walked away plenty satisfied. It does have lots of tiny bones. Bread basket came with the most delicious roasted eggplant in oil, I could've eaten just that with the bread and been a happy camper. The roasted octopus was not bad but a touch too heavy on the sauces for me, I would've wanted more of the flavor of the octopus on its own. The potatoes under the octopus, however, were perhaps my favorite part of the whole meal. Everyone else seemed happy with their food - the catch of the day (with the fluffiest mashed potatoes) was a very popular choice. If you're sick of seafood, they have steak and braised brisket on their menu. Really cozy and romantic ambiance as well for if you want to dress up slightly. This place gets very popular for good reason; I liked the little bar counter they set up out front so you can watch the grilling in action.

Cenacolo moved recently to La Isla mall across from where we were staying. With its all glass walls, the space was elegant and inviting. The kitchen was all glass so you can see the chefs preparing the food. We didn't have reservations, but the hostess found us a great table. Our main server was Alejandro and he was more than helpful in making sure we ordered what we wanted. With Italian food, I also prefer very good Italian wine versus a cocktail. He pointed me to 2 red wines that were bold and heavy as I requested. Both were just OK, but expensive. Wines by the bottle was ridiculously high. Regardless, he was great in steering me to the type of dishes more suited to what I was asking for and not just the most expensive. This restaurant has been highly recommended by my brother and sister in law for years. They had told us it was one of the best Italian food they have had anywhere. But, In its previous location, it just looked a bit stuffy for a CANCÚN vacation meal. At its new location, though it was still upscale, it seemed more approachable to us somehow. We just came back from a 10 day vacation at the Amalfi coast, and Rome, Italy. We found the pastas at Cenacolo to be comparable if not better. We had bruschetta, Ragu spaghetti, lasagna, and their chocolate soufflé. We had read that the soufflé was outstanding so we ordered 2. We were NOT disappointed with any of the food items.
