I've been going here for about 10 years. The patio atmosphere is delightful. The food is awesome I strongly recommend the pollo au tequila or the mahi mahi. I do wish they would bring back the pollo pibil. Wait staff is always friendly. Same faces for so many years. We love Tania. Right in the middle of the tourist area, this place is a bit over priced compared to alternative dining options. That being said service and food were good. We went around 9 pm on a Friday night and there was a band playing music which gave your stereotypical Mexican experience. We all got the surf and turf fajitas and 24oz margaritas and left content. 4 stars because value to price is a bit iffy but overall not a bad place to eat if you're in the area and scratching your head on where to go. read more

Casa Tequila was a wonderful experience while traveling in Cancun! My mom and I happened upon it and loved the outdoor ambiance with beautiful plant life. Our server provided recommendations and even some alterations to fit our exact tastes. Pictured is the Vegan Tamal, to which I added non-vegan queso sauce. The combination of flavors was unique and unexpected, and I enjoyed the variety of textures as well. I was a bit nervous for the incorporation of tofu cheese since tofu is not a favorite of mine, but with a firm yet malleable texture, it was a wonderful addition to the meal. Not pictured is the tequila mahi mahi which my mom ordered that had a tequila cream sauce. From the first bite, she was raving about how awesome it was! A nice blend of seafood and Mexican cuisine. Her ONLY complaint was that the rice was so good that she wanted more! So we ordered an extra side haha. For desert we had a Carmel crépe and it was wonderful and soft with a deep caramel flavor. I had dinner at Casa Tequila on 1/27/24 hoping for an authentic Yucatec food experience. This restaurant is located off the main strip but close enough to the strip for convenience. This restaurant offers a beautiful outdoor seating area with a trio playing music and a bubbling fountain near by. Out server Saul provided excellent service offering his advise on dishes. The meal began with a flavorful traditional Yucatán Lime soup which was very reminiscent of tortilla soup but 10x better!!! Followed up with the Tuna carpaccio also very flavorful and impressive!! One entre ordered was the Tikin Xic Mahi Mahi with rice and salad, this was ok 6/10 but not as expected. Second entre ordered was the Cochinito pibil with rice and red onion; also ok 5/10 but not as expected. I would have loved to have tried the Poc chuc or Queso relleno maybe on my follow up in Cancun. read more

I love this place. Service is attentive, informative and friendly. They serve up something called Queso Relleno. It involves a hard boiled egg, encased in ground seasoned pork, then baked with a salty Mexican cheese on top, and surrounded with a creamy sauce. It's probably a heart attack on a plate, but I think it's wonderful. I have not seen this dish offered anywhere else. I'm also a fan of their guacamole and chips, that is served with a trio of garnish sauces on the side. They also offer a grilled meat platter for two. I only ever have the Mexican platter, that I share with my lovely esposa, and that too, is a thing of beauty. Beef, chicken breast, chorizo, and baby back pork ribs, with various roasted vegetables. Tequila shots are served with a side shot of Bloody Mary mix. I like to chase my tequila shots with the excellent selection of local artisanal bottled beers. The tables are set outside covered by a roof with overhead fans. Mariachis will also come through and will serenade you, at your request, for a nominal fee. (Always remember to support the arts.) The service was good and it was a nice setting. Went here for vegan options and they ended up being the yuckiest part, the vegan Al pastor was not liked by anyone at the table. While I wouldn't recommend the food except for the salsas, the drinks were good. They have a free birthday shot and we payed the mariachi to sing happy birthday to our friend. I stopped into Casa Tequila for lunch while staying nearby for work. I searched Yelp for vegan food nearby and the reviews were good so I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. I came here right when they opened for lunch and had my choice of seats. The outdoor seating is nice with most of it being covered. The decor is nice inside with some vintage pictures of Mexico. The menu has a vegan section which was why I came. Anywhere that makes vegan options other then the standard salad is worth a visit in my mind. I ordered the vegan al pastor tacos and an iced tea. The tea was great. The tacos however were really good. The "meat" of the tacos was well seasoned carrot shreds that were softened and tasted delicious. The tacos were layered well with the bottom being a caramalized pineapple, then the carrot taco meat followed by a nice sauce. The dish comes with a generous portion of white onion, cilantro, limes and two different salsas. The salsas were mild and hot, but the hot wasn't really as spicy as I would have liked. The flavors were good but just not enough heat. I didn't eat my tacos by hand as I wanted to really taste the individual components of the dish and savor the meal. I really enjoyed the vegan al pastor tacos and would highly recommend them. read more

This place was very friendly to English speaking tourists. They also have menus in English and their waiters are also fluent in English. I really enjoyed their surf and turf fajitas as well as their mango margarita. I think the mango margarita was the best I've ever had as they used fresh mangos to make it. On the bottom of the receipt, they suggest a 15% tip so don't forget that when adding the total. They were really good about having hand sanitizer available and having bar codes ready I scan at the table for a contactless menu. read more

Everything was great, until it wasn't. We came here a few days ago with our spring break group. We had a large group, about 33 people, and they were able to accommodate us a two large tables. Service was great, food and drinks were good. Our only snafu was when they brought the bills. Our long table had 5 separate checks. My husband and I had 1 sangria, 2 beers, a bowl of soup and an order of fajitas. My bill came with my order, PLUS 3 more beers, 2 margaritas, 3 cokes, 2 bottles of water, a second bowl of soup and an order of chicken tacos. We told the waiter, Saul, that it wasn't correct. He got "flustered" and we figured it just got added onto our bill, but was supposed to be on someone else's. Other than the 3 cokes and 2 waters that were supposed to be on a different ticket, everyone else's bill was correct. I told the waiter to take it off our bill, and he "didn't understand". Of course, language barrier. He kept saying "it's on the bill...someone will have to pay". After like 10 minutes, I asked for the manager to fix it, because, you know, a manager should be able to override their computerized POS computer system. He came over, I told him I wasn't paying for the stuff that wasn't mine ($50 versus $130) and asked him to fix it. He comes back a few minutes later, handed me my correct bill, I paid cash, but then the manager tells the waiter, in English, well...you're going to have to pay for all the stuff that wasn't paid by me. A different person in our group says, here's an extra $100 to take care of the BS. So we left. On the way back, we were questioning why he would tell the waiter, IN ENGLISH that he had to pay...I trying believe they were just trying to scam us. But, the food and drinks were great. read more

This place is really wonderful. Yes, it's right in the middle of the hotel zone, but somehow they pull off an excellent selection of typical Mexican dishes that are fresh and tasty. It's nice because the outdoor area has a light breeze and keeps you at the right temperature and the food was all served without compromise. Drinks were great. We ate at several restaurants during our vacation in Cancun, and I have to say hands down, this was one of my favorites! As we strolled the main street of the "Hotel Zone", we came across this nice, romantic, and colorfully decorated outdoor cafe. Mexican songs were playing in the back ground. The wait staff were friendly and polite as they sat us at a table near a fountain. (I have a thing for water features!). It was stifling hot out, but at least the patio is covered to provide shade, and the fountain sprinklings kept us a little more cool and comfortable. We started out with ice cold thirst quenching drinks. I got a large strawberry margarita and Joe K got a Jaguar Pale Ale X 2. The menu had many delicious looking choices, making deciding a bit hard, but we eventually narrowed our selections down. Joe ordered Lima Soup and Chile relleno. I had the cheese enchiladas with mole sauce. We also shared Mexican cheese dip with mushrooms and guacamole dip to go with the complimentary tortilla chips & salsa. We had a lot of food, but it was all so amazingly flavorful, that we couldn't keep ourselves from overeating! Our waiter Leonardo was very nice and understood English fairly well. At the end of our meal, he brought us complimentary tequila shots! Needless to say we were pleasantly full and buzzed! Good thing we were able to walk back to our hotel without a hitch and in a straight line! The prices here are a little higher than some of the other competing restaurants, but the service, the food, drinks, and the whole experience, were all well worth it! read more

This is a "if you see something, say something" situation; I definitely need to say that this is not a real Mexican restaurant, but a tourist trap at its finest. At first glance it looks authentic when you see the mariachi band playing and the atmosphere that grabs you at first glance. It didn't not take long after we were seated (after entering through the wrong entrance which felt more correct) to realize what was wrong. I'm from San Diego California, land of the best burritos you can find in the world, and after visiting Mexico I am even more convinced of this. Upon looking at the menu I see a veggie burrito with vague ingredients like "mixed seasonal veggies" what are they? It turns out they add the most strange and unauthentic ingredients here such as broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. What is this? Vegetarian food from the year 2000? Additionally they cut the burrito in half which is a big no. On top of this the food is expensive! Between food and drinks we spent about 850 pesos ($50 per person!). The chips were not even very good here. Overall skip this tourist trap. read more

Bottom line: great choice for family friendly service. We went two nights in a row. Both nights we (2 adults, 1 toddler) were sat quickly and received great service. Staff speak Spanish and English well and offer menus in both languages. Kids can be picky eaters, especially 3-year-olds. They have a familiar kid's menu of Kirkland Dino nuggets, spaghetti, and quesadillas. My 3yo son loved the nuggets and spaghetti. The staff was very patient with us as we practiced our Espanol and with our son when he was hangry...they brought his food with our appetizers which was a legit godsend! On our first day in Cancun we visited casa tequila after walking around the strip. We ordered several drinks and the casa tequila margaritas tasted just like smoothies and I did not taste a splash of alcohol. I decided to drink it as a smoothie and then ordered a mojito which also tasted just like a soda and did not have any alcohol flavor. Since it was our first meal in Cancun I was overall excited and did not let this mess up the rest of my meal. We ordered guacamole as an appetizer and were also served complimentary nachos which were one of the highlights of our meal. The guacamole was a 3 out of 5 but the nachos made up for them!!! As an entree I had the angus steak tacos which were pretty good but I did wish they had more flavorful and spicier salsas to add since the 3 salsa options they provided were not spicy or packed with flavor. My niece had the cochinita pibil which she did enjoy and devoured. I also had some of her dish and I was not a big fan of it personally. read more

On vacation I usually don't check emails, yelp, or do anything else like that. This place inspired me I'm post to five star review. Here's why: The food, service and drinks are very good. This is surprising for a place located in the center of all the clubs and party spots. I started with guacamole and cheese/chorizo quesadillas. The guacamole was pretty darn good. The cheese/chorizo quesadillas were awesome. Great chorizo flavor, and super gooey cheese. For an entrée I ordered the "queso relleno." The menu says pork and beef meatloaf w/ hard boiled egg and covered with cheese. The waitress walked by and playfully chuckled as I savored a bite with my eyes closed. She said this is a traditional, regional dish that a grandmother would make for her grandchild's birthday. The flavor of pork and cheese is great. This dish is a winner. Apparently their specialty is charbroiled steaks. Many of the tables had steaks and they looked pretty good. When you go an area that is a concentration of clubs and street hustlers it's rare to find a quiet little alcove to have a great dinner. This is the place. read more

This is the very first place we ate at on our first night in Cancun, basically since it was about a 5-10 minute walk from our hotel! (+) Great atmosphere that felt very authentic. The live music of the mariachis was a great touch as well! (+) Food was pretty affordable and very tasty! We enjoyed chicken tacos, chicken quesos, and loaded nachos! Like at most places, they also brought out some complimentary chips and salsa to nibble on as we waited for our food! Everything was very tasty, filling, and satisfying! (+) Service was fantastic! I wish I had gotten her name, but she was the lady working on the evening of the 15th! She was so helpful, friendly, and accommodating and very patient with us! I greatly appreciated her service! (-) Right next to a strip club with some loud and aggressive barkers. There was another heavy rain storm in the middle of our meal, so all the employees just rushed out and unrolled all of the framed plastic covers around the patio so we could continue the feast we were having! At 10 pm at night this made for a very cool atmosphere I never see here at home! lol Very cool! Probably my favorite restaurant since touching down in Cancun. The wait staff brings tequila shots for this Senorita and 199 pesos for the equivalent of a Jumbo top shelf margarita in the states. I have been here twice, treated like a queen and managed to always meet new people from all over the world and go out after due to the location being on the back street of the party center. I have not eaten food here (haha), but I came, I saw and I conquered the Tequila!!!! The menu is extensive, restrooms clean and service is excellent!!! Shrimp tacos on my first visit here were really good and charred over the grill. The large beer comes in a frozen metal mug that I would say holds approximately 24-30 ounces of beer. Arrachera flank steak comes on a hot cast iron skillet and I added grilled vegetables that included (broccoli, mushroom, carrot, onion) mushroom was the best.
