Shrimp Yakisoba is outstanding! Excellent and friendly service. Was in Cancun for a week and ate here 3 times. Door will be locked, just knock and they will let you in. You won't be disappointed.
Rolls were fresh and delicious I loved this spot made me feel like I was back home in California. I've been in Cancun for a week now so I'm home sick missing my Cali food and this satisfied my taste buds. Definitely coming back to this spot. Price matches how good the food is. Service was great everyone was very friendly. I had made reservations the night before and they had my table ready I came in 15 minutes before my reservation and I walked right in. No wait at all. The Ambiance is peaceful very quiet exactly how I like it.
I was a little bit concerned about the price of this place as we are coming from Vancouver where the price of a Sapporo is only about five Canadian dollars where is here you're spending C$15 but it makes sense because they are likely importing that. It is also the 600ml size. The sushi was certainly up to par their service was amazing. I didn't go for sushi after I came here because I thought it was good enough for the rest of our experience and didn't want it to compete with any other places.. only complaint was the prices. Good sushi otherwise! Right in the hotel zone and free street parking if you rent a car like we did.
I stumbled across Hanaichi during me stay in Cancun. Reading the reviews convinced me to go eat. I debated on whether to go eat at Hiroya, the ramen restaurant, but decided to try this place. There were couple Japanese customers eating at the counter where I sat next to them. The restaurant seemed to be operated by the locals, which I think is great. The atmosphere of place is cozy. Menu may be on the pricier side, but that's understandable considering the fact that it's a Japanese restaurant. Food itself was decent. I ordered a sushi roll and small plates. The roll was similar to what you would get at a Japanese restaurant in America. Small plates were okay, nothing special. The problem I had here were the 3 chefs at the sushi bar. They would would be texting/using social media on their phones and one of them took out his wallet and was touching money. I not only think this is unprofessional to be doing this in front of a customer, but more importantly, it's extremely unsanitary. After seeing their chefs, I couldn't take another bite of the food left on my plate. It was quite a sad experience in Cancun.
Wow! We were with a group of seven so we really made our way around the menu. We loved the karage, the ramen, the yakisoba, the toro sashimi, the gyoza.. somehow even the edamame was great. We didn't order anything we didn't like. The service was lovely and friendly and I couldn't recommend this little place even more. We didn't expect to fall in love with a Japanese restaurant in Cancun, but we absolutely did. Give this little place a try. You won't be disappointed.
The service here is great!! I'm from California so I'm spoiled with a variety of sushi options so I'd rate this place about an 8, the fish is fresh, the rice in the sushi was a bit off. I do recommend you come try it if you're in the mood . Overall great experience.
SOO GOOD! I really didn't have high standards walking into this place. I wasn't expecting good Japanese food while in Cancún. However, this place far exceeded any of my expectations. To be honest it was my first time having udon, but certainly not my last! Highly recommend this place if you're staying in the area. It's well worth it and the prices are very reasonable. Also, our waiter Luis was very helpful in translating certain ingredients and giving us a description of the various dishes. He showed a great amount of patience while answering all of our questions, which ultimately enhanced our dining experience. My friend and I loved this place so much that we came here for dinner 2 nights out of 5. And as picky eaters that sure does mean something. Will definitely come back when I return to Cancún!
I can't believe I am saying this was the best meal we've had this entire trip to the Riviera Maya. Came for dinner on a Sunday night and the service was attentive and the food was delicious. Fresh nigiri, big portion sushi rolls, tasty appetizers and yummy desserts! My partner ordered 1 beer while I skipped the beverage but the waiter brought us 2 glasses so we could share it and we didn't even ask. Little things like this makes the whole dining experience special. This restaurant is located directly across from the huge Chedraui supermarket so be sure to check that place as well. They have many original rolls named after beaches or attractions in the Riviera Maya. We tried the mixed seafood handroll, fried octopus, assorted nigiri, a chac mool roll and fried ice cream to finish it off. Everything we tried was so good. The total for the both of us with tips was just under $60. Back home we would easily spend close to $100 or over for all this amount of food. So good that we are coming back for lunch the next day!
The menu can be accessed online and it is partly in English, which helped. We ordered 4 different rolls. Ordering food was easy and the food didn't take too long coming out. We had to ask for wasabi, ginger, and extra plates. We had no problems asking for them and the staff was very friendly. The staff checked on us regularly and got us extra condiments even though the place was busy. We didn't plan on having Japanese food today, but it was a good decision to come here. The food is tasty and the staff is responsive. We have sushi regularly so we can confidently say that it is on par with the majority of sushi restaurants in the states. The place is also across the street from the local supermarket. (I don't recommend eating at the food court there since the people don't speak English and their menu is only in Spanish).
The service was great. We sat at the bar and with 2 children under 4. They were very accommodating. Brought our girls booster seats, Minnie Mouse and Elsa bowls, and trainer chopsticks. We ordered Sapporo's, spicy salmon hand roll, soft shell crab (surprisingly the best I've ever had), cancun roll and spicy tuna roll with avocado. As well as teriyaki chicken for the kids. Everything was delicious. It helped to be at the sushi bar for dinner because the head sushi chef helped us order with the waiter who spoke less English. :) Go figure. ( my husband keeps saying I'm going to get sick from eating sushi in Mexico, so if I do get sick, I'll write back ;) But so far so good!
delicious, authentic sushi experience in the most un-assuming place. This restaurant is right in front of the Chedraui .. very-very easy to miss or walk by .. but worth the find in every way! we started out with an order of the karaage, miso soup. the chicken was super crunchy and I highly recommend to start out with an order of this for the table, goes down great with some Sapporo. The "Hamachi" (yellow tail) was a bite that melted in your mouth, I ended up getting a couple rounds of these 2-piece bites. the rolls were great all around, you really cannot go wrong with any choice here. Service was great (even though we went close to closing time), place is clean , lots of parking options but its an easy walk from anywhere in the hotel zone. read more

Came in on a Thursday, it was pretty quiet. Ordered the softshell crab roll and the gyutan (beef tongue). The beef tongue was overcooked and really chewy. Soft shell crab roll was really oily, and the roll fell apart too easily. It crumbled with a small pinch of my chopsticks. The rice felt like it was missing something, it was not seasoned with sushi rice seasoning or vinegar. Wish the dishes came with wasabi or ginger. Staff was friendly and patient which is an added star. read more

AMAZING sushi, great service!! We went at 7:30 on a Friday night and had miso soup, tuna nigiri (phenomenal), tuna hand roll, spicy tuna roll, green tea ice cream, vegetable tempura, and cold sake. We got it all within minutes of ordering and sat at the bar. Will be coming back every/any time I come to Cancun!! read more

This food was so delicious!! But just a bit pricey.. The salad was super yummy and so fresh.. Also the miso soup was super duper delish!! I loved he seaweed and the tofu the most in that! Then we ordered a Chicken Teriyaki and a Beef Teppanyaki.. the Chicken Teriyaki container was so cute. The food was of course delicious. The beef Teppanyaki was very tender. This place is a little bit pricy but it's worth it! read more

Probably the best sushi restaurant in cancun, and I've been to many. Try to get the sushi bar for best service and attention. A couple of the chefs are from Japan. I recommend their fresh catches. We had amazing lobster sushi. Scallops were also very fresh. This spot is one of my favorites. The waiters and sushi chefs are extremely polite and kind. read more

Great spot for Japanese food in Cancun! Yes it is in a nondescript strip mall off the cheesy touristy part of the hotel zone (km 9) but well worth a visit. We started with the edamame which unfortunately was rubbery and stale but the grilled calamari was sautéed with garlic and scallions and awesome! We also tried the gyudon, karaage and gyoza - all stellar and authentic. Highlight of the evening was the langoustine sashimi which was super fresh and beautifully presented. Had a Chilean Chardonnay which paired perfectly with everything. Tiny place (at least the downstairs) - although they must have a fairly large upstairs because about halfway through the meal a group of about 25 Japanese tourists all headed upstairs - but we were seated right away without a reservation on a Wednesday night around 7:30p. Highly recommend Hanaichi! read more

Served me the WORST piece of a Toro I have ever had: fishy, thin, and chewy. We had eaten over $150 in other decent sushi, but when we asked to "comp" the bad pieces of fish their response was: you already ate it so we "can't cancel the order". No sh*t you can't cancel it...it's eaten. They would not budge and stood behind serving us a $20 piece of near-rotten tuna belly. Forget this spot and go up the road to Sushi Hero. read more

5 stars for its food. 3 stars for its services. So average is 4 stars. The local waiter had a hard time understanding us, and service is on the slower side. But food is delicious, especially considering it's in Cancun's touristy area. read more

It was our second visit to Hanaichi. Cold fresh air, nice atmosphere and very welcome staff. Some position in menu have no English translation, but you can ask your waiter, he speaks a bit English btw:) We ate starters, soups, rolls and deserts. It was amazing. My recommendation are Udon tempura and house roll with spicy tuna outside and regular inside and for sure you need to try delicious ice cream with coconut and plane green tea - you will love it! read more
