surprisingly found some good ramen/udon in cancun!! came here craving some asian food but not expecting much. my boyfriend ordered the tsukemen and i ordered the simple udon, and we were both pleasantly surprised by how good the food actually was. the noodle was decent quality and the soup was flavorful and authentic. def not the best i've ever had, but it'll satisfy any asian food craving you might have for the time being! there's actually a few asian restaurants around this area, and one right next to this ramen place called restaurant chino that's pretty good too. read more

Sorry I forgot to update when I was here in December. The menu has been streamlined and they do not feature half of the ramens listed. They have more help in the kitchen and front of house which is much appreciated. There really isn't much of an ambiance other than the random US top 40/hip hop music videos being played on the tv screen. So my boyfriend and I went here for dinner and we got two of the Ramen bowls we originally wanted to try the lobster one that we had seen and all the pictures that were posted. When we got there the lady said they didn't have it they only had crab. Our server was a young girl and she was extremely rude she was cracking her knuckles and tapping on the table waiting for us to order. Super huffy and puffy like she had no clue how to be a server. So we got our food. And well to My surprise they have no crab cracking utensils available so I had to use the next best thing and use one of their small dishes to smash the crab!!! open up with the crab they do nutcracker for you that is literally put a whole entire crab inside a bowl. It was soft shell crab and my boyfriend said he has had better, and I just got to shoyu Ramen which was OK but they do not give you very good portions there and they're very cheap. Their menu is very hard to understand I saw several other reviews about different menus. The menu that we received was somewhat normal it was a large menu but the girl did not speak any English whatsoever. She just pointed out what it was that made no sense!! She was not of any help and did not come back at all to service any water or drinks or check up on how the food was and I probably would not go back there again to be honest and never back to Cancun. For what it is, a ramen joint in the middle of northern Zona Hotelera is just fine. Plain udon is just that, plain, right for kids, not right for adults probably unless you're out for a "cleanse". Sapporo shio classic ramen is good, just again not meant to excite. The half egg and pork I thought was good and portions fair for tourist location. What surprised me was how good and unique the chili ramen (not the habanero one) was. Nice and thick with a nice hint of heat at the end. Folks you gotta put things in perspective, you're in the tourist area of Cancun, do you really expect gourmet at roughly US west coast prices for ramen? I enjoyed what we got and the spicy versions did bring the heat. There's only a few tables and they are pretty much all outside either under a tent or open space. As for the folks who paid in US currency, what can I say? There are multiple exchange places 3min walking distance away, the tour place across from Haagen Daz had a fair rate for again the tourist part of north Zona Hotelera. All in all a nice break from Mexican cuisine run by what appears to be Japanese owners. I hope they do well. One more note, it is located a visual shot of Hanaichi. And hopefully Yelp removes "Japanese Ramen Noodle House", it's the sign for Hiroya and location is WAY OFF. LOL. read more

One of the best ramens I ever had. The broth was so umami. Of course, this is one of the only places I ever got blue crab ramen. It is a small hole in the wall joint so don't expect much. A nice find in the hotel zone! We ordered a bunch of different items (gyudon, cheese kushi katsu, temaki zushi, miso soup, and ramen) -- all items tasted really great ('authentic' even), arrived in good time, and service was excellent. We liked that without having to ask, they gave us a special set of utensils/place setting for our toddler. One downside was that the restaurant didn't have very much space for patrons. The restaurant was so packed, they ran out of high chairs during the dinner rush and we spent most of our time chasing our kid around or feeding him on our laps. Despite that, we'd definitely go out of the way to return again. Tip: ask for agua de garrafon (filtered water, safe to drink) -- otherwise they'll serve (and charge you) for bottled water. read more

Came here during the week in Cancun since I was so sick of eating mexican food for every meal. FUCK THIS PLACE!! They create their own currency exchange rate and charge customers much much more than they should. Our total was 580 pesos but they wanted $53 US dollars. The exchange rate is supposed to be $14.6 but in this restaurant, they decided to make the exchange rate $11. Wtf........... We tried to talk to the owners but the owners were like well in this restaurant that's the way it is. SHADY cheap greedy people. Never again. Also, the sushi is WEAK. At first I was extremely excited to find this place, finally ramen not tacos ! After eating here I had the runs and kept throwing up ! yep I got food poisoning. :( It was either pork in the Yokohama ramen or the dumplings ! My best friend had the Yokohama ramen without meat and she's perfectly fine. So it could of been the meat or the dumplings. This place would of been great but it made me sick. :( read more

The place looked legit and owned by an asian who seemed Japanese. They had the usual shio and shoyu and also some fusion ramen with lobster, crab, habanero, mexican chile. The mexican chile looked good so we ordered it but when the broth came it was horrible with a layer of fat foam. When we asked about it they use the blender with the broth hence the heavy layer of fat foam which was disgusting. we couldn't even eat more than a spoonful. we were discouraged and told them our issues, we weren't able to change it but she was willing to exchange a different ramen habanero ramen with less fat stock which was cheaper but we would pay the higher fee. We decided to give it a second try and agreed. The 2nd one was much better and very spicy. We ate probably 8 meals in this part of zona hotelera and this place was really the only one that was truly good! We were very happy with the ramen (the sapporo shio i think) and had a nice california roll too. The waitress was incredibly sweet too :D If we come back through this way we'd be coming straight here to eat. Dont waste your time with the tourist traps! Located just past the clubbing area in the "Zona Hotelera" of the Cancun peninsula and across from the gigantic 3 story Selecto Chedraui SuperMarket, in a strip mall on the back side hidden away is a authentic Japanese jem of a restaurant. This enchanting little hole-n-the-wall (literally) has only 2 tables but friendly great service both in Japanese, English, or Spanish. The service is very attentive and for such a small place they have 6 people working including the waitress. Even though you're in Mexico, stepping into this place with most all the signs, menu, etc in Japanese, makes you feel instantly transported to a small back alley Japanese Ramen house maybe somewhere in Kyoto or Tokyo (It was nice to hear that one of the chefs is from Kyoto). The menu is a bit limited, so we ordered a bit of everything: Odon noodles in curry, a traditional ramen soup, some Gyoza, some edamame, a spicy Tuna sushi bowel, and grilled Caribbean Conch (apparently Caribbean Conch is a big thing here- as sashimi sushi, fried, in soups, etc) and a sashimi platter (Tuna, Conch, Taco, etc). It was all good!! The menu wasn't like what's in a usual Sushi restaurant the states but still a good Japanese selection and even Japanese/Korean Panko bread crumb fried Chicken. We finished the meal with refreshing Hibiscus tea drinks. And to top it all off, when we got the bill, it was $600 mxn.................... (that's only $30 usd) Wow! Taken down a dark back alley, in a tiny hole in the wall and shaken down for $600 mxn ....all for a good meal! -I need to find more dark back alleys like this!! ありがとうございます(domo arigato gozaimasu) Bottom line- If you're done having too many Piña Coladas and tired of Mexican food, or Sea food, or Mexican Seafood or just want to a change it up! The place is very shabby and not attracting, hidden in between the buildings. Their kitchen looks pretty dirty and small, but their ramen tasted as good as in toronto for example. Rolls-not sure, tuna on top looked a little old, like its been laying there for a while or something. However, i felt good afterward , no poisoning or anything.
