I started with the miso which was warm and tasty, a generous portion. I moved on next to the eel, hotate, Suzuki sea bass, and chu toro nigiri. The scallops and sea bass were amazing. In face the sea bass was so good i ordered the sea bass tiradito... of my goodness, the aroma of truffle oil? SO GOOD! A must try! The restaurant is elegant and backs up to the ocean. Other than wishing the menu had more people American prices as well, this was the perfect experience topped off by a delicious birthday surprise!
A new try for me recommended by my very good friend. The service was very good. The food was very delicious. The drink I had (Geisha's Memories) was uniquely served in a plastic globe on a bed of crushed ice in a wooden box. Very creative and delicious. A lot of a la carte dishes. But still very good. The sunset views were so beautiful. A definite must go!
Seafood is fresh and delicious. Asian food in Mexico with fusion inspired dishes like risotto, fried taco with seaweed and poke, plantain chip appetizers. Service is incredible. The folks here are so on top of it. Around $700 USD for 8 people. Very pricey, fine dining ambiance and price tag. Most dining in the hotel zone is expensive. Outdoor dining at sunset is beautiful. Lighting is immaculate.
One of the most exceptional party dinners! So much energy and the food was firing on all cylinders! The salmon sashimi here is WOW! Some of the best I've ever tasted, simply melt in your mouth! We ended up doing a full second order it was so damn good. The steak tartare is excellent, well seasoned. All the seafood is superb! The waiters are party time energy all night! They keep everything running from all aspects so even as you're dancing, drinks keep getting filled, courses keep coming, etc! The performances here are some of my fav! Love the fire show and the live musicians! It's all worth the hype! Go!
First of all, VERY expensive so don't come here if you have a tight fist on your wallet as this place is priced like it's a restaurant in DTLA (downtown Los Angeles). Second of all, decent Asian food in Cancun. The fish tasted fresh, and they had sushi, dumplings, and seafood galore. We had a table of 13 as we were here for a bachelorette. It was 8pm on a Friday night of early March and was fairly empty outside since it was super windy and hair flying. The patio string lights across the sky and connected to gorgeous bar gave a magical ambiance. Hearing the ocean waves behind us while we eat was just happiness. The waiters were very nice and understanding of what we wanted to order. They were quick at removing plates and keeping us hydrated with water and drinks. However they got a bit pushy when the dance songs came on and want you to all get up and dance. When the dude comes around to pour a shot in your mouth he steps all over the seats and people stand on the tables which made me think like ew the table is icky from shoes. Food: We did family style and shared the different plates. They were able to accommodate vegetation diets and brought that person their own variation of the meal. Pretty much everything was amazing. The lobster came in the tail shell, shrimp in the actual shrimp body, and fish and sushi expertly plated and pretty looking. My only complaints was the wagyu was too salty and the dumplings were meh and the octopus rice balls were not good way too much rice. Drinks: - Geishas Memories - vodka, sweet and fruity and came in a cool ball cup with flicker light. - Espresso Martini - the best one we've ever had in our life that most of got this and a second round
Some good, some bad. Ribeye steak, terribly chewy and did not really look or taste like ribeye. Miso black cod was tough and did not taste like black cod. veggie tempura is meh. Duo tartare was delightful. Salmon roll with tempura shrimp pretty solid. Mushroom curry, AMAZING. Now for the service. Oh my goodness the service. As soon as we sat down, the server asked if we're celebrating anything. We said my dad and sister's birthday. They said, "amazing! Let's celebrate with tequila, after all you're in Mexico, right?" And then proceeded to bring out top shelf tequila bottles while acting as if they were going to provide a house tequila shot for the birthdays. They're selling a shot of an $80 bottle for $50. The hostess had asked if we had allergies. I said I'm allergic to avocado. The waiter then asked again if anyone has allergies. I said I'm allergic to avocado. So I stated I'm allergic to avocado twice, and yet our food came out with avocado. When I mentioned it to them, they said they'd fix it and bring a roll without avocado. Then they just brought me another one of the other roll I had already tried. I wanted to try the roll I had ordered, but without avocado. Anywho, they charged me for this roll for "fixing their mistake." Shortly thereafter the veggie tempura came out. With a fried half avocado. The server charged us for two bottles of water when we only had one. Whether he snuck in a new bottle of water without asking or he just charged us, nobody at my table ever ordered extra water. We were pressured to tip more than we wanted to, and then pressured us to write reviews. If you're ok with horrible service and extremely overpriced food, the food is pretty decent here. You're really paying for the view. It's a very nice restaurant, but I absolutely hated the service.
First off, our meal was incredible and the experience was once in a lifetime. We were treated like kind and queen and had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Unfortunately we feel like we were taken advantage of and were left with a bill that made our jaw drop and will never sit right. I will take some ownership and say that clearly we were naive and the language barrier and American customs clearly played a roll. All the food and cocktails we would have happily paid for. But was caused our bill to go through the roof was 2 glasses of tequila and a bottle of champagne. We were given 2 very expensive glasses of tequila when we sat down. We were given an option as to what kind of tequila, but it was presented in a way that made it seem like it was free because of our anniversary. Had we known we would have never ordered it, my wife doesn't even like tequila. Very similar situation with the champagne it wasn't an option as to whether or not we wanted champagne just what type. Again had we known we would not have ordered. Please heed the warning. Not to not eat here, but be very clear what you are paying for.
We came here on a Tuesday night for my boyfriends birthday and I believe Cancun was just entering into the off-season at the end of August so there were maybe 6-10 other couples even though this restaurant can seat a ton of people. We ordered and tried a little bit of everything. They brought out some plantain chips in a thick substance as a complimentary dish. I didn't care too much for the thick substance but the chips were good. We also ordered shrimp and ginger Gyoza which was delicious. The edamame was great but we honestly hadn't had many veggies during this trip so thought it would be a good idea to order edamame which I think tastes the same in every country so it was good. We also tried the tartare platter and loved it. The rice cracker with the tuna and hamachi tartare were the best but the salmon tartare didn't trail too far behind. I got the short rib with fried rice which was absolutely excellent! The flavors were delicious. The only thing I didn't love was that the restaurant was in an Uber dead zone so we had to ride in an overpriced taxi to get back to the resort.
Warning to all new customers "ADD UP TOTAL PRICE BEFORE YOU ORDER" because it will cost you a pretty penny. On my recent visit to Cancun I went to Tora to eat. I ordered 3 sushi rolls and 3 orders of nigiri. My total ended up costing $147, which seems overpriced for what it was. For the price I paid I don't think it was best and I didn't get WOWed from the sushi rolls itself. For the nigiri one order is 1pc. Usually from sushi places I have visited each nigiri order is 2 pc. The service itself was good, the gentlemen was attentive. The ambiance of the place was nice. Lastly, the thing I don't like is when I'm being charged for tipped and not being told. For a party of two "propina (tip)" was already applied as a charge. Without us asking our server once we got our bill, we would of tipped twice without realizing it.I don't mind tip being added if I was being told at first but, in my opinion I believe gratuity should be added in to one's check if it's a party of at least 4-5 people. I wasn't truly satisfied for what I paid for :/
What a fun place! Admittedly, we didn't know what we were getting into when we walked into this restaurant. We had heard the food was excellent (and it was!) but we expected a typical high-end dining experience - and this was anything but typical. In fact, we found it a little off-putting at first. The EDM music was loud, the cocktails were served with strobe lights and/or sparklers, there were hookah carts on demand, and the overall energy was very much nightclub-ish. But you know what my man + I ended up loving about this place? All of those things! We started our dining experience with a wonderful creme sake and ended with the best chocolate lava cake of my life. What we ate in between was fabulous, no doubt, but the memory of this place will be of the energetic staff (who frequently broke into song all at once), the spontaneous Congo line, and an unexpected, sexy fire show on the terrace. B O T T O M L I N E : Go! Sit back and enjoy the experience. And get that dang lava cake! It's a must.

What an amazing experience. Just a small walk from one of the all-inclusive hotels in the area. Maps had it a little screwed up but was able to find it by walking a bit more. The food was phenomenal. Very fresh and great quality sashimi. Coming from NorCal this was one of the best sashimi dishes I've had in some time. A must stop if your into Japanese cuisine. I will say though, it's pretty pricey. read more

The servers were there at our every move, welcoming us, clearing plates, bringing fabulous plate after plate of appetizers, our main courses and no room for dessert. The food was on point and the ambience perfect. We spent a pretty penny but well worth it! read more

I was hit with a massive sushi craving and the two rolls I ordered did hit the spot but everything else, I'm afraid, verged on the side of overpriced and not quite worth it. As a pro, I really liked how fresh the seafood was. Don't skip the Ora salmon sashimi appetizer - it was so buttery and one of the best things I ate all week. Even though the sushi was definitely not traditional or purist in any way and quite heavy on the rice/skimpy on the fish, I left feeling relatively satisfied with what I ordered. Cons: (1) The ambiance/music is, uh, geared to specific preferences - there are sparklers, EDM music, and a hookah cart. I heard the throbbing bass even before we went inside the restaurant. I found the atmosphere pretty fun (they even do a Sweet Caroline rendition, complete with fireworks) but it can get grating if you're not into this scene where the waiters hold up little strobe flashlights so customers can dance in the middle of dinner. Just be warned that they blast the music at much higher decibels than I'm used to. (2) Definitely a place where it helps a lot if you speak Spanish. They first led us to a table right underneath a speaker and in front of the hookah shaving station - basically noise coming from all possible directions. We asked if we could move to another table and the waiters/manager first said all the tables outside were reserved or taken. We spotted a few people leaving and asked again more emphatically, which they finally did. (3) It can definitely get pricey. Some of the drinks seemed a little bit of a gimmick, like the "infusion balls" which came in a pretty crystal ball for your IG pictures but otherwise tasted really watered down. I really liked the cucumber wasabi cocktail, but I can also see it being a polarizing drink. Reminded me of pickle soft serve. read more

Absolutely an epic meal and experience. I highly recommend making a reservation...whether it's to watch the sun set over the beautiful ocean, or see the fun fireworks show later in the evening, in addition to having great food and drinks...you won't regret it. Everything from the ambiance, to the top notch service, to the food, is nothing but amazing. Ricardo and Juan Thomas certainly make you feel welcome and at home. All of their staff are consistently ensuring you are well taken care of...including some complimentary shots ;) Dinner reservation was at 9pm as we wanted to ensure we could watch the fireworks show which was around 9:45. Order: Cucumber Wasabi Martini - not at all spicy, but absolutely refreshing Gin & Jam - this drink came in a fancy globe and the passion fruit flavor was out of this world Gyoza - This shrimp and thai chili mix was perfect Beef skewers - perfectly cooked and well seasoned Sushi - I believe I ordered the Cosmo roll...presentation was great and overall nice flavors here. The rice does tend to try out in the humid atmosphere (just FYI) The complimentary appetizer of dip and plantains was my favorite! I don't remember what that dip was made out of, but I couldn't stop eating it! Champagne served in the women's restroom - check! Seating along the pier with an amazing view - check! Hands down my new favorite restaurant in Cancun!! The service was excellent especially for a party of 8 people. It was my boyfriends birthday and they treated him like a king! Shoutout to Oscar and the rest of the waiters on being patient and delivering our needs right away. My boyfriend & I ordered the New York dried age steak, the scallop roll, & salmons two ways roll. The food was very delicious, cannot complain about anything. The ambiance set a nice scene of fancy but fun! Enjoyed the show and every part of the restaurant!! I highly recommend everyone going to this place. It is a little bit pricy so get ready to spend but it is definitely worth to visit if you are coming from out of town! read more

Another hip spot that had great reviews and had to check it. Location - On the main Hotel District Area but towards the beginning. Cab ride was either 10-15 bucks as that's the flat rate. Venue - Place is amazing as the vibe is really upbeat. Decor is very trendy, and the way the floor plan was laid out has amazing Ocean views. They also have shows during the night that get the party going with a drummer setting up at random tables, workers walking around giving shots and sparklers. They also have a fire show right before the fireworks that pretty amazing too. Food - Great dishes available and the sushi display is beyond expectations with amazing fresh taste. Drinks - Well made drinks with a good kick and presentation also. Service - Everyone here is on point with taking orders, putting a show, taking orders, explaining dishes and all. Overall the place is dope with a great vibe and would highly recommend it and I will most likely be coming back. read more
Great place. Loved the gyoza and sushi rolls. Salmon was over cooked, I'm used to salmon cooked to medium in high end restaurants. We actually ordered the trout but got the salmon accidentally. We also got the risotto style Japanese hot rice dish which was extremely decadent. All in all, delicious food but pricy for the area in my humble opinion. The service was super. Ok! Where do I begin? We came here 2 yers ago and enjoyed a upscale dinner with great views. Quality food, drinks and service. This time was a totally different experience. It is now more of a night club than upscale restaurant. They now offer hookah and have "bottle girls" with sparklers dancing for birthdays. ( See Photo) To some, it may be a good thing. However, to my wife and I looking to duplicate the upscale experience, it wasn't what we expected. Lastly the quality of food and drink has seemed to suffer and more emphasis on entertainment!! May work for some. But not me!! Servers and all staff were great. If I had to guess, they have new ownership or business model. read more
Two words: BIG VIBES! If you are looking for a hyped up dinner experience, you need to try Tora and Rosa Negra in Cancun. The positive thing about both are that they are right next to each other! They both are sister restaurants so my review will be similar for both of them. They do have some differences but again, share a lot of the same similarities. The menu items are a little different. In my opinion, the food at Tora was better than what I remembered when we went to Rosa Negra. I highly suggest that you make a reservation for both of these restaurants. The staff and service is phenomenal. They truly want you to have the best experience! The hamachi tiradito was my fav! So absolutely fresh! 5/5! Honestly, all the fresh seafood was amazing! I was pretty drunk so I don't really remember everything we ordered lol, but I have some pictures so show how amazing the food was. Hopefully you get a good seat so you can watch their amazing and spectacular show. They usually have a show every night around 9-10 ish, so I wouldn't make your reservation until about 8 pm. The views are iconic! The fireworks, ocean.. just VIEWS are beautiful. To top it all off, they give EVERYONE sparklers so you can vibe with them! LOVE LOVE LOVE the vibe here and will continue to return every time we come to Cancun. HIGHLY recommend if you are with a big group who wants to party. read more
Sister restaurant of Rosa Negra. Also an amazing experience for dining. Great vibe. Busy- I would suggest to make reservation- did ours thru open table. Impeccable service. Entertainment for dinner - they have a drum performance by the docks the starts around 830-9 pm. Fireworks around 10 pm by the water. They have great selection of drinks. I personally recommend the Geisha Memories. After dinner drinks, great cappuccino. Fresh seafood and sushi. Enjoyed their goyza. If you are celebrating an event, let them know. I think we tried most of their desserts- totally awesome- taste and presentation. read more

What a treat! After a long search trying to decide what our Christmas Eve dinner should be, we stumbled upon a much raved about sushi restaurant, so we couldn't resist. While we weren't sure sushi in Cancun would be stellar, we read so many reviews about Tora and were excited for our 5:30pm meal reservation. It is connected (shares the same restroom) as Rosa Negra. The restaurant is swanky and upscale. I wore a chambray sundress but still felt underdressed. The restaurant is a little dark, and only gets darker as they dim the lights. We thought the restaurant seemed a bit empty for us to snag one of the last reservations of the evening but realized most tables were outside on the layered dock, enjoying the beautiful weather and view. There is free WiFi in the restaurant, but I had trouble staying connected consistently. The restroom is in a shared hallway with Rosa Negra on the second floor. The women's restroom is large and fancy - you can also get complimentary champagne cocktails poured and mixed for you on your way out! My dad and I shared a small "jug" of sake. It was served atop bed of ice, where it chilled while we sipped. We noticed others ordering these beautiful We ordered some appetizers - Shishito peppers and fried tofu, both of which were delicious, and tasty with our sake. The veggie tempura was a pretty presentation, but not as hearty as the first two appetizers. We were also served a complimentary dip with plantain/yucca chips of some sort that was pretty tasty. My dad and I shared a 6 piece nigiri sampler and a spicy yellowtail sushi roll. The nigiri were fresh and delicious, served on a pretty display. We got the hamachi, Ora King Salmon and the toro (of course). The yellowtail roll came with avocado, which was unexpected but I was ok with it. For dessert, we ordered a molten chocolate cake, which was delicious, served a la mode. Before I could get a good picture, the ice cream tumbled off the top of the warm dessert. Yikes. Overall, food and service were on point. I wish we could have been seated outside where the rest of the restaurant used to be but we thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. read more

Omg...this place was amazing!!! The food was great. The service was unbelievable. I am so happy that we had reservations at this restaurant because it was worth every penny. The other reviews are right. This is the best restaurant on the block! I will definitely come back here when I'm in Mexico again. I highly recommend this place. read more

This place has an amazing ambiance and the music is fantastic. I loved the show and the vibes. Sushi is not like American sushi. Heavy on the rice and not sure what really was in the center. The are huge rolls. The salmon was very buttery and delicious. Lobster was delicious. The short ribs were very good. Recommend trying Eve though this is see food. The tuna and salmon appetizer was ok. The tuna was to fishy for me. The wine pours are so small. Just order a bottle. Good wines are $70-$350 a bottle Chardonnay. Our service was great loved the staff. When you order bottles of wine service definitely steps up a few notches. The show was the best part. The restaurant is so beautiful. The woman staff are gorgeous. I am giving it a 3 star because the sushi was ok, and bill was not easy to close. They acted like they could not take American Express and the waiter ask for at least 20% tip, which is a given but be patient waiter. That was to forward for me. Four of us was $850 with tip and plus more drinks at the bar another $200. read more

One of the slickest scams in Cancun. We ate at Tora recently on our vacation to Cancun. Overall, it's a classic charade of fine dining. Mediocre food glossed up with slick performances and electric atmosphere by constant chanting of "party people" ( whatever that signifies). WORST PART : They will bait you by parading you great looking collection of sea foods WITHOUT GIVING YOU THR PRICE. They will tell you this is todays special. Given the hyped up ambiance and your trust on great hospitality of hard working Mexican people, you will fall for it and will order. At the end, the bill be $500 plus. read more

Good Asian option with plenty of seafood options. My fav was the Tuna sashimi & salmon sashimi, and the chocolate mousse. Our server was super friendly and knew the menu well. They were friendly to the kids, but it was loud and not suitable for them at night. There's a nice show at night & fire works. Was a bit pricey, but worth the experience. I'd say it's good for a 2 people or a small group celebrating. read more
I went here for my birthday because a friend recommended. It's a fun atmosphere but they stopped doing their firework show which Is the main attraction. The food is mostly small plates that can be shared amongst the table and that can get pricey. However, everything was fresh and tasty. If if your birthday, they'll bring cake out and sing about 5x until you're ready to eat it ( not sure how Covid safe that is). Overall, wr had a good time even though we came for a show. Our waiters were ok but they tried to ask for more gratuity on top of what was already on the bill. read more
